To most of the world, the Ishinomori Academy is simply a perfectly normal, if exclusive boarding school in the perfectly normal town of Asagata. However, this couldn't be much further from the truth. The Academy's student body is made up entirely of transforming superheroes, and the curriculum reflects this. In addition to standard subjects, students study to improve their effectiveness against the forces of evil. The town itself plays an important role in the Academy's unique goals, having been built in what is quite possibly the single worst location on the planet.

To elaborate, the town is located near a haunted Sengoku era battlefield, with an island of animals mutated into sapient humanoids (who believe their rapid evolution to be a sign of their superiority and right to rule over mankind) by less than ethical experiments by a local laboratory and to top it all off, a series of caves further inland seem to serve as a portal to Hell. Normally, this would be grounds for everyone to pack their bags and leave, not to mention making an awful environment to educate children. However, the Academy serves to keep the townspeople safe while using these assorted threats to aid in training the heroes of tomorrow, teaching them the value of teamwork, as well as how to adapt to a variety of foes.

While many of the Academy's students are recruited after being chosen by a deity, finding artifacts of ancient super-science or otherwise gaining their heroic identity, there are rare instances where people are scouted for particularly impressive acts of courage. These students are gifted devices from the Academy's research teams to allow them to transform. However, just because someone is approached by the Academy's representatives doesn't mean they have to attend, in the end the choice lies with them and their families.

So, this RP will follow the students of a school for magical girls/boys and tokusatsu-style heroes in the fictional Japanese town of Asagata through a perfectly normal school year where nothing will go wrong, honest. The RP is intended to be light-hearted and comedic for the most part, although there will be serious moments in the plot. That said, it should still have the potential to come back to comedy after those events.

While I get that a supporting cast is generally a thing, it's...not what this RP's about. The academy's not meant for those characters and it doesn't make sense for them to be there.

A couple of things I think would make this better...

First of all, you should make it so that there are multiple locations like this with the story only taking place here. This would give your world a bit more depth and realism.

Also, CS guides (Age ranges and stuff like that) and power restrictions (unless you want a bunch of Magical Lyrical Nanohas running around) would be nice in my opinion.

Honestly, the problem with saying there are similar places throughout the world is...there aren't. Of course, being a tokusatsu/magical girl-inspired setting, there are other places dealing with villains of their own. And those places have heroes of their own. However, as the "single worst location" remark suggested, Asagata has pretty much lucked out in that regard. Maybe being pretty much on top of a portal to Hell has something to do with that.

And as far as the character sheet stuff goes, it's a high school, so ages would be around 15-18 and...I prefer to judge characters' power when I see the sheet. In part because I want to trust people to not go overboard (especially since these characters are mostly going to be new to their powers/gear) and in part because I've had headaches with people trying to use technicalities to get overpowered characters into RPs because I didn't specifically mention those abilities when saying what would be considered overpowered.

My proposed character if this gets off the ground. If more detail is needed, then it can be added.

This is a school for transforming heroes, like magical girls (and boys) and those you'd see in Super Sentai/Power Rangers and Kamen Rider. I'm not saying they'd be petty enough to turn away a hero because they don't transform to fight, rather that given the kind of setting this is, people like that wouldn't exist.

I like this idea, and if it won't be taking off too soon (~within a week), I'd like to contribute as a staff character. Of course, if it does begin quickly, congrats! I'll just enjoy the read. c:

Edited to fit better. Hikatokage no shōhisha is now a dagger on Hisoka's waist, and Hisoka's outfit changes to something from a magical girl show for a male character.

@Pair of Hearts I don't really have a starting date in mind other than "when there's a decent number of characters", but even if it starts that soon, I'll be happy to accept more characters afterwards.

@Zardoric Is covering the blade in shadows just a general "hits harder" thing? Also, not really an issue, but it's probably worth keeping in mind that him being armed might not be too intimidating, since basically everyone in the academy's likely to be carrying a weapon, even if it's not as visible.

Personality: While Sho is willing to use his powers to protect others, he misses his "normal" life and tries to hold on to it as much as he can. He is selfless and is always ready to throw himself into the line of fire when his friends are threatened. He does, however, suffer from self-doubt and tends to blame himself whenever something goes wrong.

Brief Backstory: Sho's life changed on the day he and his best friend were walking by Lake Narisawa when an explosion occurred on a
nearby cliff. Sho was nearly struck by a falling object that hit the ground near them. Examining the object Sho found something encased in metal, but seemingly alive. Upon touching it he inadvertantly activated it. The device was alive and squirmed within its metal brackets before bursting out and wrapping its tendrils around Sho, enveloping his whole body and bonding with him.

@Tachi For the most part yes. Specifically it increases his attack strength, and makes it slightly harder to see where the blade itself is, making it harder to block. Not only that, but anything that is weak to dark based attacks takes additional damage. However, bright light (like the noon sun for instance) weakens both the damage increase and the difficulty to block. Training will fix this (as he learns to absorb the light through the shadows) but that is months, if not years, away depending on how he is trained.
