"Which one is Mikkish?" Sam asked. The whole deal sounded shady, but considering he was probably going to be here a while it would be best to keep everyone playing friendly.

"Mikkish is the thin blonde young man. He is in the library right now. It would be best, however, if Marlene went in first to convince him." He looked at Marlene and nodded "Don't mention anything about commitment or even use the word 'marriage' in any context. Mikkish likes to believe he is free."

Meanwhile, as V was about to touch the painting, a male voice asked

"Excuse me, ma'am. I would ask you don't touch the paintings." It was a butler. While all the butlers weren't identical, they all had combed back hair and moustaches.

He then reached into his pocket and took out a key.

"And this is yours. I hope you enjoy your stay here." He said, holding out the key for V to take.

Marlene entered the library with a shy smile on her face. "good afternoon Mikkish, how are you?" She asked politely while sitting down across from his side of the table reading a Dutch translation of the Bible.

Mikkish looked at Blink for a second and then at Marlene, wondering how he always found himself in these awkward situations.

"Hi...Marlene." He had to admit she was kinda hot, despite the all the crazy. "How do you like the mansion so far?"

"h-hello...." She said shyly (her Asperger's was kicking in) "so far its alright I guess." She looked out the window towards the blue sky.

Mikkish remembered he had a little bottle of "water" in his jacket. It wasn't water though, but vodka. Despite that he was of legal age back on the island, and had been going to bars and clubs for the past year, he was still under drinking age in the US, and he loved the thrill of underage drinking.

On top of that, he never got drunk in a library, and it was just so random not to try it out.

"Yo." Mikkish said to Marlene as he reached into his pocket and grabbed the vodka "Wanna get hammered?"

He then nodded to Blink as a sort of invitation. Maybe it was okay to chill out, considering there probably was no cult.

She smiled. "a shot will do." Marlene said smiling happily.

V's hand recoiled slightly in surprise when she heard the voice, her fingers curling inwards into her palm. "But of course...apologies sir." She said, turning to face the man. He had the looks of a butler, right down to the curly black mustache above his upper lip. She became even more sure of the man's profession upon seeing the key he was holding out to her. She grabbed the key, and was about to dismiss him before reading her room number: the Roman numeral for five: V. Behind her mask, V smiled, giving a low chuckle. "You know who I am, don't you?" She said.

For a while now I stood idle like as I watched my surroundings, whether be one of the butlers passing by or another stranger making their entrance. For what seemed like hours I stood in a corner of the lobby, my eyes showing nothing more then lost and confusion. Lost in thought of what to do, where to go, and the likes. Now having the chance to think, I would replay in my head how I got here, but I couldn't find any conclusive answer, the whole process was impossible. There was no way the vampire could have traveled far enough to escape my scent, the woods were not as huge as they first appeared from the village, and the landscapes like the distant mountains were all gone. Infanct, there was no specific distinction between where I was and where I am now, not even by scent. As if I had been teleported to a new location, but I do not recall being moved any where, there didnt seem to be any transition to it. The more I went over it the further my distress and confusion came clear on my face, fortunately my helmet would hide most of that expression.

Blink held up a hand in a gesture of refusal, "Not while on the job." He said, shrugging. He didn't mention that he was still worried of being attacked, or that he'd never had any alcohol more than a single glass every New Years.

Sam watched as Marlene walk off to find that Mikkish guy, slightly relieved. There was something off about that girl, and not just because she'd tried to make him abandon his wife five minutes after meeting her. This house was filled with shady characters. There was that butler, the vanishing man, whoever that Mikkish guy was...

He was struck by the fact that, despite her strangeness, Marlene was the only person here who had given her name. This was no good at all, and so as he spotted the strange guy from the porch standing off in his own little corner of the lobby he came to a decision.

"Nuts to that." He said to himself, walking over to the dragon man. "Hello?" He said, then continued under the assumption he'd gotten the mans attention. "Hi, my name is Sam. We met outside? Just thought I'd introduce myself properly. Sorry about that light out front, I thought you were something else. I'm a..." he gave the man a once over and decided on the best way to phrase this so that the other guy would most likely understand. "I'm a scholar. I write bestiaries for a living. I was hunting a monster in the woods when I wound up here. How are you holding up?"

The confusing traces of thoughts as I noticed a stranger approach and speak to me. "Hmm? Sam is it?" I'd stumble a bit as I was taken off guard. Despite this, I would give the man a formal bow, due to my height however, even when bowing my head barely went beneath his height. "I am Sir Fafnir." I rose back up, looking down at him with eyes that illuminated like dim candles. "It was no trouble, really. However I am in a bit of an unrelated predicament, would you happen to know where this is?" I gestured a bit to our surroundings. My tail would slither back and fourth across the ground.

Sam returns the bow. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance."

"I've been told that we've wandered into an entirely different world, somehow." Sam answered. "Given certain differences in phenomenon that I've noticed while I've been here, I'm inclined to believe that. The man who gave me this information also implied that it would be a while before any of us got to return to our homes. According to him we wouldn't be here if there wasn't a reason for it. Personally I find the situation fascinating."

I blinked and paused as his explanation. Reason for being here? A while till I could return? Ages of existence has taught me patience, the wait, even if it truly was a long one, didn't concern me, however curiosity lead me to what my purpose was. Nonetheless, it was a pleasure to speak to someone who tolerated my abomination of a form. "You mentioned you studied beasts, were chasing something into a forest as well?" I asked returning my attention back to him.

"Ah, you were chasing something too?" Sam said. "I don't think you're likely to have heard of him, but he's called the Jersey Devil. Big, winged menace that shows up every few decades to kill pets and run around on peoples roofs. I was planning on making a few sketches, maybe get a rubbing from his skin or a mold of his hoofprint. What were you after?"

"Dont believe I've heard of a jersey devil but I've seen creatures with hooves that terrorize forests. A group of vampires were feeding off some poor sod, so I maimed and burned the group of bloodsuckers but one ran into the woods, so I gave chase. Next thing I knew I ended up here." I said as my tail coiled around my foot.

"Ah, there's something we have in common. Vampires. Ours, though, are basically harmless. Dolled up kids, most of the time, believing so hard that they can drain some nebulous 'energy' from others that they actually feel the effects. Complete rot, of course. Don't actually drain a thing. But Belief can carry you pretty far where I come from. Vampires a huge problem where you're from?"

"Thats quiet interesting. I wouldn't say there a huge problem, mostly because there are many threats that you can run into. Where I'm from there bloodsucking monsters. Vampire is a broad term as there are those that were once mortal but turned into a vampire, or the original vampires, and those born a vampire, which are true demons." I'd seem to go on and on about information until I eventually caught myself. "Ah forgive me, I got carried away there, but in short, yes there a problem."
