Okay, I've had a real hard-on for fighting games lately (Since Street Fighter V came out), and I've been kind of itching for a Roleplay based off a fighting game. I know it's a terrible decision, but I'm going to share this awful decision with everyone!

However, I'm indecisive on a few things, which is the point of this interest check. I've been alternating between a Street Fighter fandom RP, or a Skullgirls fandom RP. Here are how things would go:

  • Street Fighter - Could go several different ways. Of course, it would be OC-only (with canons appearing as backgrounds). It could be a original martial arts tournament set up by the big bad, or someone else, and all the characters have attended for whatever reason they come up with it (Not super fond of this idea, but hey, putting it out there). Alternatively, it could be a more open-worlded adventure in which the characters are badass martial artists going up against Shadaloo, the Illuminati, or a new organization (I kinda like this idea more since it's more open for story).


  • Skullgirls - I honestly don't have any idea for a Skullgirls fandom RP. But, I can say that I can come up with something, since the setting is soooo rich in lore, and has a way better setting than Street Fighter. The story will probably be a group of OCs going after the Skullheart, and having a wacky adventure in the meantime!


... Orrrrrrrrrr, we can come up with an original setting based off those games, and make something completely new. It could be a blend of both settings, or something completely different. I'll be discussing ideas with everyone.

Oh my God... this is one of the worst interest checks I made. You can smell the desperation so much that you can taste it.

The third option sounds best to me, but honestly I'd be cool with any of the three. XD Far more into Skullgirls nowadays since the last time I really played Street Fighter was back on the SNES (although I suck at fighting games anyways ^^;) but I could probably figure out something for either of them maybe. We'll see, I guess.

If we were to go with the third option, what would you have in mind for an original setting? Setting modern leaning on Street Fighter, with supernatural martial arts (Which is what I'm personally leaning on), or something like Skullgirls, which is pain supernatural.

Aw man, don't make me choose. D: I'm partial to both "as real life only you can actually train to throw fireballs" and flat-out fantasy style stuff. XD

Honestly, I'll probably go with whichever one everyone else wants.

I'm more partial to Street Fighter it must be said, though I do agree with you that Skullgirls has more and higher-quality pure lore to work with. Street Fighter, much as I enjoy it, is kinda like Mortal Kombat in Tekken in that its plotlines tend to be when ya get down to it some ridiculously convoluted and absolutely mad set of reasons for why a bunch of people should punch each other. Many times.

Not that familiar with the Skullgirls lore but I could certainly bone up on it if need be. Just the atmosphere of a fighting game is something fresh on my end, mind, so I'd be intrigued to see whatever you could come up with if you're pursuing the route of a semi-original background. :P

In short, I'm liking all of these ideas enough, and are pretty easy between 'em.

I'd be interested in a Street Fighter thing. Not at all familiar with Skullgirls, not really my style, but depending on how it's done an original setting would be okay. It could be something like more traditional martial arts types of characters, the kind you see in older fighting games (not counting specific oddballs like Blanka, Kuma, etc) vs the more magical, heavily anime-inspired types of characters presented in games like Skullgirls.

I have casually thought about a King of Fighters based RP actually. Could certainly work Street Fighter wise too I suppose... even a KOF v. SF set up too.

Okay, right now I'm leaning on original universe. I'm tryna decide what I'm going to go for. A more Street Fighter like RP, or Skullgirls. Kinda thinking of Street Fighter, but with more Skullgirls themes.

Also I was thinking of a semi-realistic Shenmue/Streets Of Rage/Tekken style universe?

Which I mean a world where you could incorporate streets but then also mysticism and technology and corporations.
Just a thought though, looking forward to this and have already started on a character brief.

Yeah, I was totally thinking of a semi-modern world with ki/kung fu magic bullshit, along with outright magical creatures like werewolves, technological things like androids, etc, or whatever the hell you want. This RP will be a bit flexible.
