Jason "Echo" Reed

Fucking hell... Did everyone have to fight? First, the obvious super decided to lob a guy across the damn room. Oh, and then someone decided to throw diner utensils at the seemingly-blind person - military brutality anyone? The kid who was apparently blind then opted to go Super Saiyan, and the rest is history as one might say.

Except these idiots were about to be history. There was a damn lot of noise. Lightning, gun shots. It was a little too much. Echo had literally jumped from the fire pan and into the fire, and it was ticking him off. Without a word, he leaps over the chair, slides across under a table and rolls at the counter. Within centimetres of the desk, he stands and vaults over the thing; twisting and angling his pistol at the guys head. One shot. Two shots. Three. There was no sound, and all hit directly. One in the head, two in the neck.

In the instant he was over, he turned and rolled back out firing twice at Crane. The second he is up, he runs and slides past a wall and next to the invisible dragon. His free hand reaches for a grenade, pulls the pin, and lobs it with pristine accuracy. And as it flies, and lands, he runs at the guy; sliding under another table for cover, before jumping up directly in his face.

With a single click of his fingers, all the windows shatter. All the glasses crack and smash, the metal lightly warps around the detonation, and blood slightly spills.

Oh yeah, he had been deaf for a while. It was just his ability letting him hear.

Syona Alaz

What was going on? She had only gone to the theatre because she wanted to find out about the Supernatural front in America, but there was so much fighting... Why? Why was everyone fighting? The Scientists were bad people, it couldn't be denied, but couldn't there be a middle ground? Was there truly no reasoning with any of them?

So much was going on, but somehow Syona had made her way onto the bus. Except... Who? She had just pulled the engine out... Was she insane?! The Scientists were going to skin them alive! They would feed them weird bugs and foods to hurt them! But... She was so beautiful. So compelling...

What was she? An Angel? That was so cool! Even if she was working with the Scientists, a real Angel?! Th-that meant that God was real too! Maybe the Angel would let her meet God! Then... Then maybe the Scientists wouldn't be so mean to everyone!

So, Syona stepped off the bus, and walked towards the Angel - now dripping with a weird smelling liquid. She had smelt it before, but where? It was so familiar, yet... So distant.
"H-hello..?" she called up to the Angel, looking at her from her short stature, "A-are you an Angel..? C-can I touch your wings? They look pretty..."

But there was a sound.

Her instincts forced her sight towards the blast of energy. It vaporised everything in its path... What destructive power. What Syona would give to have that! All she had was some lame short distance teleportation and useless light illusions... The light constructs didn't even do anything! They just sat there, and people just walked through them, like they were a hologram. Did they not know that Supernaturals existed? B-but... They were everywhere! And so easy to spot! They all tried to blend in, but most failed to a large degree.

The heat. There was something different. Her shape flickered in darkness, but stood in the same place - except now facing Jane. There was a massive burst of energy, and it headed straight for the Angel! The Supers weren't meant to fight, right?!

You're so stupid... So ignorant.

The form of Syona flickered again. And vanished. It reappeared where the Angel was, but it was somehow off. The eyes of the girl, the smile. It all contained a sense of mischievous cruelty. Not exactly evil, but evil enough to cause extreme, unsettling thoughts.

This wasn't the same girl.

The beam of energy suddenly darkened; the light being drained away from it. It didn't require any hand movements this attack, just willpower. The light focused into a bright ball, obscuring her form, before firing out in a short lived, but destructive beam that split the energy in two; sending it in two directions. One careered off and sliced clean through a building, turning it to rubble in seconds. The second sailed off in an unsure direction, cleaving through whatever was in its path.

And anyone who looked where the light came from didn't see Syona.

"Don't move, don't struggle, stay still. Hehe... That was strong, firecracker, I give it to you." she had teleported through space in a single instant and landed next to Jane. Such a surprise attack could never be blocked. In the single second she appeared, light constructs of almost in-perceptible illumination clamped her hands and legs to the ground, while the small girl sat on top of her - completely invisible to the naked eye to all except Jane herself, "Do you work with Edge? Don't say a word, just nod. Say anything and I kill you. I want to meet them. Whoever is in charge, that is. I'm interested in joining, if I can~! I have some things to deal with..."

A single hand stay pressed over the Supers mouth, blocking any sound with a light barrier.

Alnnar's mind was much harder to peer into then most, The unique make up of the Djinn coupled with his strong will. Though there was a calm since of serene from him. Shaking his head as the angel spoke, twisting the will of the lord in such away. Though soon his attention was drawn to Jane. "I was never in any danger" he said as the lightning started to strike at the ground. Missing it's mark before soon it struck her. She fired out that intense blast. Aiming at the angel who avoided the blow. An Impulsive action, a foolish one. He could since the anger and hatred inside of Jane. It clouded her mind and judgment. All that power fueling her was also taking it's toll on her. She was using to much to fast.

Though soon that great beam split and dispersed. He looked to the creature that now appeared next to Jane. Horns, wings and tail. Curious he thought as he thought they were all but gone. Though the same could be said for the Djinn. This coming war seemed to call every creature out of the abyss of isolation, something that did not seem good to the Djinn. Though she appeared to not let her presence be known, but he was curious about what this 'edge' was. The wheeled machine seemed to be out of commission. Or at least he assumed as the angel ripped that large metal thing out for a reason. "None are not with out redemption. Not even you." he said looking back to the angel.

Paon growled deeply at the captain ready to leap out of there until the man caused the windows to burst. His sensitive ears rang and folded backward as he shook his head. Once recovered paon's tail lightly looped around the sound man and flicked him onto his back. He looked for the waitress, but did not see her...no time to look. He flipped his tail up and smashed his phone before running out of the coffee shop.

Once outside, his wings spread open and he shot up with both individuals on his back. He flew away from the shop, away from the theater, just away. Once he was over a heavily forested area he went for a landing in a clearing. He landed and shifted back to human...which caused for both passengers to be dropped on their rumps.

Peter took this moment to swing through a window into the inside of the bus. He then took the quiet moment to listen to what Eric had to say. Once he recieved his orders he snapped his fingers twice, which was code for understood. What was really lucky about the ear piece is it is clear and practically invaluable unless one were to really look for it. And to be that close would definitly catch the attention of the dark fairy.
He chose a seat and sat down doing his best to look absolutely innocent and rather scared. Thankfully, he has had practice with pretending...he almost smiled at the memory of the last patch of lost boys. They were delicious.

Willa had to pry Jason's hand from her arm. "Ya kin let go now! Ya have a painful grip. I take it ya dun like flyin'. She looked at Jason and noticed how happy he was to be on the ground and grinned rubbing her arm.

She looked at Paon and sighed. "Are ya alright P? I didn't want to have to use me powers. I've been hidden for nigh on a decade an now they know I'm still alive." She looked around. "Where are we?" She took a few deep breaths and her english got better the calmer she was. Obviously they were in a small clearing in the middle of a forest.

"I guess it's a little late for niceties, but my name is Willa. This is Paon. That is really all I know about him except for the dragon and flying thing, that I learned when you did. What is your name?" She asked Jason.

Benji was more than a bit surprised to hear the old woman brag about not only being completely human, but the wife to one scientist, and mother to another. The surprise of this made him lose most of his focus towards the rest of the battle. He had mistaken her for a supernatural and she spoke as if she was on their side which made him wonder what her game was. Were these buses leading them to safety, or into the hands, and labs of their enemies? This Supernatural Underground had sounded too good to be true and kindness was the last thing he expected from humans. The man from a few moments ago walked passed him and shot him a smile, a primal and animalistic smile. Benji nodded in respect to man as well as to the primal force he sensed in this stranger.

These buses were quickly filling with other supernaturals and if this was a ruse there was no way to get this many terrified and confused people out of this situation anyway. There was a small chance that these buses really were headed somewhere safe and it was chance he was going to have to take. The battle around him was only getting crazier, the winged woman spouting off about her father, gunshots and beams of energy being shot off and big guy with a lot of power trying to reason with the enemy. More soldiers were bound to show up any minute and Benji wasn’t planning to stick around for that. He boarded one of the buses and hoped they weren’t being driven into some horrible trap, or if this was a trap that he’d get the chance to kill a few of the scientists himself. The more he thought about it he figured getting the chance to kill scientists with his own teeth and claws might even make getting captured and murdered worth it.

Sam was walking down the street, accompanied by two constructs. One was a baseball sized mechanical spider that rode on her shoulder. Mainly used for communicating with people. But due to its smaller size, could be quickly reconfigured to something combat focused should the need arise. The other construct was a van sized tank, with it's turret sitting on the back. It only had room for her and the spider. Which for Sam, was all the space she needed. She had kept these two well maintained for the past week. She never hid her constructs from view, she wasn't afraid to show what she was.

Though today was a peaceful walk it seemed. She found herself walking around in an area of town that was fairly abandoned. Only the odd building that still functioned. Though Sam predicted not for long seeing the dead nature of the location. But oddly enough Sam found the place relaxing. But still kept her guard up in case someone tried to attack her.

Jane struggled with the chains, created from light, but made into solid matter. If only she had been ready for it, she could have absorbed the light and burned that devil-girl to a crisp. But Syona had kinda sucker-punched her, and Jane immediately despised her for it.

"Do you work with Edge? Don't say a word, just nod. Say anything and I kill you. I want to meet them. Whoever is in charge, that is. I'm interested in joining, if I can~! I have some things to deal with..." Syona told her.

Does this backstabber really think I’ll trust her? Jane cursed inside her head. But she also cursed herself for making it so obvious who she was. The Scientist had been after the Jane Doe for so long, and the hoodie and energy blasts were a dead giveaway. In fact her hood was down and everyone could see her face if they got close enough. If they found out her real name they would not only know where to find her, they would know where to find Lisa. The thought fueled Jane like nothing else. Even more than the thought that none of the people she was trying to help, came to help her at all when she was chained to the ground.

Then she heard the thunder in the sky and knew backup actually was coming. Jane took one final look at Syona’s young, devil face, and mumbled “Go to hell,” under the gag in front of her own mouth.
Then lightning struck Jane, and she followed up next millisecond by blasting the ground beneath her, so the restraints had nothing to attach themselves to.

It had been Syona’s turn to get a surprise attack, as she clearly had forgot all about what had dialed Jane up to 11 just before. Now it was her turn to feel the cold hand of defeat … and death.

It seemed like the thunderstorm was ending for good this time, maybe the other Supernatural had reached his limit, but it didn't matter to Jane as of this moment.

She raised her arm, looked like she was about to fire on Syona, but then hesitated. “It’s their fault,” she whispered and then suddenly yelled it, when looking at the buildings in the background. “It’s their fault! All of it!”
If the demon tried anything, Jane was clearly ready to absorb her light constructions before they could turn to solid matter. Yet Jane didn’t fire at her. No, instead she pointed right at a building and fired with all of her might.
The structure fell and was annihilated afterwards. Nothing was left, and Jane didn’t let up. Her eyes suddenly had death in them, and she started to disintegrate the next too, with no sign of wanting to stop.

So many people in the buses opened their mouths in horror, as this was never what any of them wanted. A few even seemed like they wanted to run out there and try to stop Jane. Unknown to almost everyone was that Jane was not herself. Somewhere high above Zhal was whispering in her ear, and doing her mind manipulation. Turning Jane into the very thing, she had been fighting.

"We're leaving!" Harriet announces using the megaphone she was given, before heading into a small emergency surgery on board the leading bus, where a paramedic begins taking care of her wound. The convoy begins speeding away from the ruins once everyone wishing to board boards at an alarming rate considering their size and the weight on the buses, a few moments later four trucks with around ten men per truck pull up by the theatre questioning where everyone went. "Ladies and Gentlemen who are aboard our convoy, you will all need to go through identification checks, some of you may or may not be scientist agents looking to reveal our bases to them. These identification checks will involve taking blood samples and facial comparison with known scientist assets as well as discussions and or interrogations when we arrive, there will be no exceptions to the checks... no matter who you are. Even I and the drivers will be checked. If you have any questions feel free to ask the inspectors beginning the convoy-wide checks at any time." Harriet announces, using a convoy-wide radio transmitter. After Harriet announces that five agents on every bus begin checking everyone on the convoy, starting with the bottom floor as the convoy radio begins playing some traditional jazz music, Harriet then has the bullet taken out of her in the small, private and guarded emergency surgery, then the rest of her operation is completed, a vial of the blood taken by one of the agents, writing down on the label 'The Guide', continuing the checks on other people.

Graham, somewhere in the complex begins copying and taking everything on as many scientist staff and agents as he can, as well as any information on the Underground, saying hello to everyone he passes and storing everything he collects into a bag he picked up.

Syona Alaz

What an amusing plaything this Jane girl was. Syona would never remember any of this. No, it was time for Alaz to play. The lightning struck, and the girl did not flinch. Her face was instead alit brightly with a wide smile; the cruelty and mischief fully open - displaying a creature with no sense nor comprehension of reality. That searing heat. That glorious burning smell. That scorching white light.

It was all so perfect.

The heat of the battle, the raging adrenaline, every sense and synapse screaming at once in a desperate bid for control. What Alaz would do to feel this more often! The very idea of such a sensation at every turn, event, was a kick in of itself. But... The floor was gone. The demon sat staring upwards, bottom to the ground, as Jane unleashed her hellfury.

And there it was again!

This sense of dread, a claustrophobic fear, the oncoming storm of fear. THIS was the fear of being killed! THIS was the fear of the forthcoming. It was addictive; oh so very addictive, there was no getting enough, no rehab. No detox. Those eyes! The eyes of death and destruction! That overwhelming power!

But it all didn't fit this girl... Why did she have so much power? And more importantly, what was that Angel doing? Alaz had been alive since the dawn of creation; the First Gods. She had seen the Angels of old, the old races, battles hard won and lost. Every generation to date. And she remember them all. Every last detail Harolak had ever recorded, every last cultural difference.

She had seen the Angels of every creator. The corrupted ones used to be few and far between... Were they a lot more common now? Oh well... The form flickered and vanished, appearing behind the Angel for a second.
"I like the lightshow~" and then she vanished. The form appeared exactly where it was before, facing Jane. Her hand reached into her skirt, and pulled out a single, vibrant, deep blue crystal. It pulsated and glowed with a sickening, evil blue that radiated through the air. And the crystal was tiny; about the same size as the nail on her little finger.

"Firecracker?" her voice called over the ripping energy and the thunderous blasts. But it didn't reach the girl on the Edge, "These are rare, you know. I have the last of them. Magnos Crystals. Oblivion exclusive, I'm afraid. But I really didn't wanna use em. Too bad :P"

Alaz twisted her fingers. The crystal crunched and shattered; cracking under the weight of both the fingers of the demons and the slight amount of light she applied. And it began. If the destructive force of Jane was powerful, this was on another level.

The objects surrounding warped and twisted - slowly the structures bending out of shape and beyond recognition. Electronic devices within miles malfunctioned and shattered, beyond repair. Metal crumbled. The very ground warped and shifted in the force of the electromagnetic field it released.

And then came the flash.

A bright light, brighter than that of a star, emanated out in all directions - illuminating the night in for miles. Everything mixed with a resounding, thunderous boom of non-destructive but immense proportion. But that wasn't enough, was it? Because Alaz no longer sat where she was; her form obfuscated by the blinding light. Instead, she had teleported again.

If last time was called a sucker-punch, this time it was an assassination of non-lethal magnitude. Her leg connected directly with the girls jugular, with enough force to knock the wind out of a fully grown man. The moment she connected, more light constructs of an incredible density bound the girls arms and legs.

The second they were fixed in place, Alaz grabbed her by the arm.
"Brace!" The world turned upside down. Everything went black with a kind of static, and an overwhelming nausea filled the Edge girls' body.

A cross city teleportation. The two landed atop a building, far away from the theatre, at the edge of a forest. The demon simply let Jane fall as they landed, walking over to the side with a grin.
"So, Firecracker, you gonna tell me what I wanna know? Edge. Can you take me to them? I don't work with the Scientists, if thats what you worry your panties about."

This was going to take a while, wasn't it...

Jason "Echo" Reed

Holy shit! What the actual fuck?! Why were they flying?! The dragon could have just LEFT him in the coffee shop, instead of playing Puff the Magic Fucking Dragon! He couldn't help but grip the other girl on the way. When he was told to let go, instinctively he didn't. Flying without safety? Were these people actually insane?!

It was probably shock, but at first he didn't register the girl speaking. It was only after he looked up to see her standing over him that he realised she was talking to him. What did she want, his name? ID number? Fucking pin number?!

Probably name.

"Uh, Jason... Jason Reed." he stood up off the ground, brushing away the dirt and his shattered pride from being thrown off the back of a dragon onto his arse. Christ, there was never a break... "Soo... A Dragon, body builder and megaphone walk into a forest..."

Paon ended up sitting with his head in his arms and his knees up. He was shaking, his tattered shirt exposed more of his back and the shaking. He was old, but right now he seemed young. Which technically for a dragon he is rather young.

He faintly heard the conversation in the background, faintly heard the response. What had he done...he doesn't fight. He doesn't hurt people. The trembling worsened.

Peter sighed internally. An ID check great. He quickly took his human shape, his wings folded inward and the shimmer on his skin dissipated along with his ears shortening in length. He would not get discovered in this form since it is his fairy form that is registered not the human.

He then rolled his shoulders and sat back, enough to allow him to discreetly remove the ear piece, crush it, and toss it out the window. Those who were close did not see that...since he slipped a small image into their mind of him not moving. Simple really. He kept a faint air of fear to keep with his facade. He knew Eric heard the crunch and that meant he was deeper undercover.

"A Dragon, body builder and megaphone walk into a forest..." She repeats and smirks at him. "Jason ya said?" She looks over at Paon. "P what is the matter? Ya didn't kill anyone. Why are you so upset? I'm the one whose cover got blown up."

Willa knelt on the ground and opened her bag looking for something. Finding a hair tie she pulled her hair back into a pony tail. "Okay, we can't stay here. We have to get moving. It will be simple to find us if they look for a sizable clearing for a dragon to land and there can't be too many of those." She looked at Paon and said, "if you don't want to have to fight for your life and hurt others, get up now. Otherwise you might be having to fight me!"

She looked at Jason, "Do you have any idea where we are?"

Benji was uncomfortable with the thought of strangers drawing blood and checking him through some kind of data base. He didn’t care for the thought of there being any records of who or what he was even if they were only in the hands of allies, as information like that could always be leaked. He could see the need for it though, if they had a secret base for supernaturals it would be detrimental for an agent of the scientists to infiltrate it. If he resisted it would make him look like he was some sort of supernatural traitor and would likely never find out if this whole supernatural underground. His curiosity was too strong for that to be a viable option, he was going to have to accept this identification check. He rolled up the sleeve of his shirt and waited as they systematically checked the passengers on the pass while jazz played over the radio. A man eventually approached him, scanned him for facial recognition and drew a vial of blood from his outstretched arm.

“Name?” The man asked him in order to label the vial of blood he’d taken from Benji.

“Ben,” He answered, paused for a moment before adding, “Ben Urich.” He wasn’t going to give out his real name or the alias he used to rent his motel room. He was also careful not to use one that could be connected to any crime he had been involved with in case they ran any background checks. He’d never been arrested or charged but he knew a few of his fake names were probably in more than a few police reports as a suspect or person of interest. Since Ben was a fairly common name he always kept the same first name making it easier for him to keep track of his alias.

The man gave him a look that let him know he could clearly tell that Benji had given him a fake name. The man had probably been doing this for a while and Benji had paused for a second to think of the right name to give. The man didn’t press the issue though and simply made some kind of note before moving on. Benji leaned back in his seat and looked out the window trying to figure out where they were headed. He was disappointed when the jazz music suddenly stopped and a strange, bright light lit up the sky. It wasn’t lightening and he figured it must be from whatever was still going on at what used to be a theater. The buses seemed to be headed away from the denser parts of the city, and he hoped out of the city all together. Benji could really use some fresh air and the kind of open space you couldn’t find in a city.

The bus convoy heads out of the city completely, into the same forest as the worse for ware survivors of the coffee shop calamity. "Ladies and gentlemen, we will be heading to a temporary centre where you will all have a conversation with our agents and have your blood analysed and compared with other samples. If you have anything you wish to tell the Underground then please declare it to the agents, to verify that this is the Underground and not the scientists I will give you all a bottle of any alcohol you choose, from Long Island Ice Tea to the best Vodka you can find in America we will guarantee every family or individual their own bottle if you pass the checks and agree to not rat us out to them. Scientists wouldn't give you as many luxuries, just gruel and some sewage water at best." Harriet announces by megaphone after she clambers up to the top floor, agents on the buses repeat what Harriet says to ensure that everyone on the convoy can hear. Harriet then takes a seat at a deck chair beside a nailed down table, she begins eating a small slice of chocolate fudge cake that was left on the table.

Graham then stumbles on a way to contact the Underground during his search, the evidence locker rooms have a radio that broadcasts on their old radio system. Since it is the Underground's old radio device and of no use anymore he is allowed to take it freely.

Everything had gone by fast, but not so fast that a kickboxer couldn’t follow. And Jane had been that for years before she even developed powers. This devil had made the same mistakes as before and used violent force to try to bring Jane down. Had she used lesser force maybe her kick would have had the desired effect.
Jane’s first instinct was to annihilate her enemy and the rooftop with her. The devil-girl still didn’t know that brute force only fed Jane’s power, and because the devil didn’t know how to fight Jane, she suspected it would be a short one, even in chains.
But then new sensations rushed over Jane: A more clear head, and with it: guilt. Jane had been out of it. She had… had… targeted civilians. Killed civilians. But the rage that made her do it, had not been entirely her own. Mind manipulation.
That other woman! Jane thought to herself and suddenly realized that this new devil-girl had not only saved countless lives, but also saved Jane from becoming a puppet for more than just a moment.
After blinking rapidly, Jane slowly stood up, so to not provoke a fight from the devil, before walking to the literal edge and taking in the view.

There were humans down below. Families merely going about their business without a single thought of the war to come. Real war, not that little power-display at the theater.

How could I let myself get chained again? I was ready for it. Unless... unless I secretly wanted this girl to stop me.

Jane inhaled, exhaled and felt the calmness fall upon her like a blanket. “Cuffs,” she said and nodded to her wrists. It wasn’t a suggestion. “And then… name.”

Willa raised her hand to block the sun and looked up at the sky and figured the clearing to be larger than she had anticipated. Not waiting for either man to answer her, Willa determined which direction was back towards the city and started to walk towards that direction. "I'm not going to wait around here til they find us. I'm going back to the city to get my stuff then I'm leaving for good!" Willa complained to herself. "I managed to stay hidden for ten years and then I get a touchy dragon and he blew my whole identity to hell." Her brogue became much less obvious when she was calmer. She looked around her and hoped there were not any hungry animals in the forest.

"Guide, I remember seeing a dragon or something about as big as an overgrown horse glide towards the forest... they might need help." An agent points out while looking into the forest using binoculars. "We still have that firework flare gun don't we?" Harriet asks, finishing off her slice of cake. "It's on the minibus with the roof. I'll let them know..." The agent walks down to a small storage cupboard, he grabs a megaphone and walks back up. "Mack! Fire off the Firework Flare gun! Might have been a few survivors who took the dragon airline to the forest!" The agent announces, putting the megaphone back and then resuming his spying, the firework popping into a giant yellow word: "Road... Mack needs to try and make longer fireworks really. Then again we're lucky to have him." Harriet says, beginning to gently drink a glass of wine very slowly while admiring the firework, despite it just being one word. "Hope it helps that dragon." The agent states, sitting down on an elevated sofa, continuing his watch over the forest.

Graham then begins wondering back to his Estate, which is above the Shapeshifter Section of the complex, thinking on weather he should leave calling the Underground for a while or as soon as he can.

Benji scoffed at the words best Vodka, thinking it had to be some kind of oxymoron. He had to agree with a line he’d once heard on television, “clear liquors are for rich women on diets.” He would concede that offering drinks to these buses of misfits seemed like a nice gesture. He preferred almost anything in the whiskey family, a robust bourbon being his first choice. He suspected for a few seconds that this offer of alcohol could be a trick, getting all these supernaturals piss drunk and then they’d all be ripe for the picking, but that was highly unlikely. Scientists wouldn’t spend a bunch of money on alcohol for a bunch of people they didn’t even see as human and it would be simpler and cheaper to subdue them with some sort of gas to knock them out either in the buses or at whatever compound they were headed towards. Scientist were smarter than that, it really couldn’t be a trick unless he was seriously overestimating them or missing something completely.

Benji decided that he had ninety percent accepted that this was legitimately not a part of the scientists, but not wholly convinced this group was didn’t have some sort of nefarious agenda of its own, or at least an agenda that conflicted with his own beliefs. His suspicions parted for a moment of actual joy as he saw the buses approaching a forest. He could smell natural scents; trees, prey, fresh air, and that was just to name the basics. He had a ridiculously strong urge to stick his head out the window and howl at the half moon shining in the sky. He controlled that urge by telling the wolf within that he’d go for a run soon, and then he’d have chance to howl and to be truly free. He noticed a firework shot off into the sky that said ‘ROAD’ and he wondered what it was for.

Charlie sat nervously at desk looking over the reports on his research that he was supposed to present to his supervisor, Dr. Harris, in less than fifteen minutes. He felt sick, he hadn’t eaten all day, he couldn’t eat and all he could think as he read through his report was how many more people will die if turn in these results? It had only been a couple days since he’d found out the fairy child had died during an extraction. It had completely shattered the fragile illusion he’d built for himself, he couldn’t look at his work objectively, and he couldn’t read the subjects ID numbers and not see real faces of real people. That child, 72521, who he’d nicknamed Daisy as she’d been there so long she couldn’t remember her name. Her age had been listed as ten and she had reminded him of a kid he used to babysit for as a teenager. His eyes kept blurring as he tried to read over his research. He hadn’t slept last night.

Results Summery

Military grade leather body armor made from the hides of supernaturals and treated with a diluted mixture of vampire blood, pulverized troll and unicorn horn, and ghoul secretions will make a light weight armor able to withstand explosives and most armor piercing rounds. Hides of dragons and golems produce the highest quality armor while troll, minotaur, and werewolf produce a close, but slightly inferior armor. Results are conclusive that this armor is of superior protection to all others tested. Testing on more hides is requested when they are made available.

Sleep replacement, a mixture of vampire blood, fairy dust and cells from imp wing. Subjects deprived of sleep for 24 hours were able, on average, to stay both awake and alert for 48hours after ingestion, significantly longer than those in the control group.

Night Vision, the aqueous humor of a vampire as an added active ingredient to eye drops allows most subjects high visibility in complete darkness for up to 12 hours. Some side effects have been redness, dry eyes and temporary blindness. More experimentation needed for safety. Perhaps a small amount of mermaid plasma would improve results.

Underwater breathing, kelpie excretions, stem cells of a mermaid and blood and lung tissue of a Nereid has allowed all rodent and chimpanzee test subjects to survive submerged in both fresh and salt water for approximately 4 hours. Human tests are requested for more accurate data.

Charlie threw the report onto his desk and wiped his clammy palms onto his jeans. He’d finished most of the work before he’d really understood what he was doing. He thought these were mostly monsters, not people but a part of him had always known this was wrong. He’d spent the rest of his deadline typing and editing the report wondering if it would make him a monster if he turned it in. He took a deep breath and checked his watch, three minutes to make his decision.

“How many times have I told you, no hat’s in the office?” Dr. Harris, his supervisor, asked as he pulled the beanie off Charlie’s head exposing the disheveled hair that lay beneath it. “You got a report for me kid?” He asked tossing the beanie into Charlie’s lap.

“I…uh, no sir I didn’t finish it yet. I had a lot of school work and, I guess I’ve been slacking here a bit, sorry.” He said nervously.

“Very funny Kid, is that the report there on your desk?” Dr. Harris asked as he scooped up the papers and looked them over. “Very funny Kid, you’re the last one here I’d call a slacker.” He mused looking over the reports and nodding in approval of the work.

“Yeah, you got me.” Charlie said quietly, he’d gone very pale and a part of him wanted to rip that report out of the hands of his supervisor. As much as he hated the thought of causing such harm the thought of losing this job terrified him. This was what he had worked towards for so long, and a wrong move here could get him blacklisted from other labs; this place had influence all over the country.

“Great work, Charlie, I’ll take this up my bosses. You keep this up and you’re gonna have a bright future here.”

Great, he thought. “Thanks, sir.”

“You look like shit though, maybe you should take the rest of the day off, maybe get some actual sleep instead of drinking all that damn Red Bull. You have a heart attack and I’m out one of best employees.” Dr. Harris said with a friendly smile. Charlie perked up at the suggestion of taking the rest of the day off.

“Thanks sir, that’d be great.” He said, his boss nodded and Charlie grabbed his hat and began heading out.

“And don't let me see that hat on your head until you’ve left my building.” Dr. Harris shouted, mostly joking. The guy really was a good boss and Charlie liked the guy but he hated the thought of coming back in tomorrow.

Zhal had not paid any attention to the presence on the bus. It was insignificant, meek. But there was a switch, as if the minds had changed. That was not dual personalities, it was dual souls, minds. Or at least that's how it felt when the girl switched and teleported. She followed her with her mind's eye as the beam was split in two.

She teleported again and appeared next to Jane. "The same as Mel?" she thought to herself as she observed the girl. Interesting, she didn't know there were more of them. It presented an opportunity though.

Her mind reached out for Jane, whispering into her subconscious. She started sowing thoughts of doubt. She relied on the rage and want for war in Jane's mind. Saying that it was humans after all that hunted her kind. Humans were responsible for all the deaths.

Zhal grinned wide as Jane started destroying the buildings. It had taken so little effort. Just push a few buttons, and unleash the rage inside. "Too easy...my new pet.." she thought and grinned as the other girl appeared.

She wanted to run it through with her sword, and would had been able to if she wanted. But this one...somehow felt familiar, but she could not place it. She felt what the daemon was going to do and flapped her wings and was high above the City in almost an instant and closed her eyes fully, relying on her mind.

The two vanished and appeared elsewhere. She turned towards the location and focused a bit more, focusing on Jane's mind and projected what the daemon had done with the city. "You thought she saved lives. Look at the city. Warped, bent. Electronics are cut out, killing lifesupport. Planes crashing to the ground. I can hear their screams. Feel their pain as life's are snuffed out. Do you really want her to know who you are?" She grinned.

Zhal's voice kept speaking into Jane's mind. "I've looked into the girl's mind. She is no saviour. She is a killer, just like you, but on a very different scale. If humans didn't know about your kind before, they most likely do now, due to her."

It was all so interesting to her. She knew where the underground was heading due to the woman. She knew where the dragon-boy was. If she wanted to, she could report it. But where is the fun in that? She wanted to spark another war. One much grander than the first, or even Second World War. But she needed allies. The scientists were weak, but they served their purpose. They had come a long way since she presented the first test subject to them, but it was not enough.

Zhal slowly started making her way back to where the underground was heading. It was time for a visit.
