Name: Kano Hargor

Age: Unknown

Element: Water / Darkness

Personality: Centuries of life have a way of killing off emotions. Such can often be the unfortunate disposition of the headmaster. His attitude is often one of absolute authority over students, teachers, and even the surrounding villagers. Despite the sometimes oppressive atmosphere he displays, Kano is a passionate and gentle person who cares deeply about a students connection to their second soul.

Gloomy can sometimes be a way of describing his meandering pace and absent minded mannerisms when classes are not in session. Though he can shift from a range of emotions, Kano is consistently seeking the special case students with exceptional or unique abilities, taking special preperstions to groom them as future teachers or on rare occasions, his potential heir.

"My life is long. But it is not eternal. Who will guide the next generation should I pass from this world?"

History: How long had it been since that little boy with the broken arm cried into the river. How many days have passed since he was nearly killed by the hatred of our world. How quickly he came to power in an age unknown to us now.
Kano Hargor was just a sniveling whelp, destined to cry out his frustrations over the petty squabbles for land and wealth that dominated his every waking moment. Those fools of the past ravaged forests for food and fuel, mountains for jewels and vanity, and polluted the waters with the dead. The trash of their passing.
His rage fueled hid ascension to a legend. A man who made peace with the cataclysmic forces of nature. Sworn to preserve it. To show others to preserve it.
His powers found kinship with other like-minded individuals. These five individuals fought for a home they had not yet created. They Changed humanity and ushered in an age of peace. The children of the future born to a nee world. Humans given the same powers he had.

In the present times he looks upon his home with love in his heart and soul. The village had swelled, prospered, and created a harmony unique to it. No other culture mirrored the fruits of its communion to the primal energy and fury of nature itself.

"I wish you could see it now one last time.. You are not forgotten, my sky flower. Your memory lives on in the heart of our home."

Equipment: The only equipment he carries with him is an extremely aged leather bound book. Presumably a memento from his past life. Only his co-headmaster knows what is between the aged pieces of paper.

Class Taught: Darkness / Headmaster

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Name: Augustus Colonel
Age: 18

Element: Blood

Personality: Augustus is a strong willed and stubborn student with a bad habit for being a bit of a glutton in all things. Learning, exploring, fighting, and eating. Anything you can do in excess he will likely try to do excessively. Lacking in the self control department, this small mountain will speak his mind when it suits him. Often because someone else is being a bully or a making a total ass of themselves. On the topic of bullies, Augustus is not overly self conscious about his... larger than life appearance. But that does not mean he will sit idly by if someone confronts him, or anyone else for that matter, about his own 'flaws'.

Gus, as he is often called, is a very caring young man with a strong drive for helping others however and whenever he can. Though he can sometimes go overboard and be a bit of an unbearable person to be around because.

History: Augustus was born in the academy to a a very young mother and father who are still together to this day. The couple were sweethearts in the academy from their first year and well into graduation. It was not many years after they left that their first born child was welcomed to the world. His mother, Melissa Colonel, was a strong role model for doing the right thing and telling the truth. She taught her young son to be compassionate and understanding, to do right and defend those who cannot defend themselves. Melissa also took a great deal of her time to teach Marcus to cook and clean, to be proud of himself and his home.

His Father was a different story. Andrew Colonel was young but not untalented when it came to medical practices. Tutored during his time at the academy in the element of blood and water, Andrew was introduced to the wonders of help and healing. Like a bird to the sky his skill became apparent and landed him an easy job at the hospital as an assistant to the head of staff. Over the next 18 years he worked to be a good father and teach his son the basics of medicine. How to treat a wound, cpr, etc. But the most important thing he taught young Marcus was never to betray himself. Doubt in your ability could cost you everything, he always said.

For his own part, Augustus was a receptive student to the lessons taught by his parents. Though there was often the question of why they had not taken much time to teach him about his element. A follow-up question to that was the fact that he wasn't sure what his own element was until his 16th birthday. It manifested when he was cooking one day and slashed his hand wide open by accident while being careless with his knife. After the initial shock, with mother panicking not far away, Augustus remembered his fathers tutelage on treating a wound and went about cleaning the wound. After getting some bandages he noticed that the bleeding was not slowing down. But the strangest thing was the fact that he felt no pain. Instead if was replaced by a subtle buzzing feeling in his hand around the wound. Without even realizing it, Gus willed the blood to clot around the wound and stop the bleeding and smiled when he realized what had happened.

For the next two years he was taught a small amount of control over his element, practical medical uses that his father applied to his job every day. The training wasn't just elemental either. Being a big eater, Gus focused on muscle mass. Working not just his element but his own body. Two years of hard work left him no skinnier than he had been before, but he was strong. Strong enough to carry the burden of life or death.

Equipment: None. What you see is what you get.

Though he usually has a protein bar or a bag of chips on him somewhere.

Name: Luke Jared Thames
Age: 17
Element: Water

Personality:
Two words that very well define Luke is, unambitious and shiftless. His attitude most likely stems from the fact that he's had siblings, who have (atleast thinks they have) more potential and talent that he could ever muster. However, he himself is also a well of untapped potential, he easily grasped the working and intricacies of his element, being able to nonchalantly use it and even integrate it to his everyday life like pouring a cup of coffee.

Socially Luke tends to shy away from large herds of people and prefers one on one or a small group of discussion. That's not to say that he's asocial, he tends to smile whenever he is speaking to anyone and always looks at them at eye level. Even then he prefers himself to be at solitude and peace, having a liking towards silence. He can get along relatively well with other people as long as they aren't loud or in general, annoying.

However a fatal flaw, or strength, depending on the eyes of the beholder, is Luke's unwavering optimism. He always sees the glass half full and\ will always try to formulate the good that a situation brings. An extension of this is that he tries to see the good in people as well, he believes that inherently, no one is born evil, but because of the circumstances around them causing them to be evil, his naive view of the world is brought about by his inexperience.

In a nutshell, Luke is inherently a nice person, lending out a hand to people whenever he can. However only helping people who help themselves, as he dislikes it when people become over reliant on others rather than themselves.

History:
Luke was raised from afar, within a family of geniuses and brilliance. At a young age his siblings had managed to already grasp the basics of the elements while he, a late bloomer, couldn't, as much as he tried. Because of this the attention of his parents were focused on his other siblings. Although they didn't condemn or hate Luke for his lacking ability but they didn't show any care or much loving either. It was only Luke's uncle, Gregory, who showed him any parental concern. He was the one who taught Luke that he was a slow learner, and nurtured him with patience.

Soon Luke found himself able to manipulate the elements, with great control and accuracy. His parents were shocked, and silently loathe Luke for what they think was him 'showing up their teaching abilities' as Luke's other siblings did not have the deft and nimble accuracy that Luke showed. In a last ditch effort they set up a mock duel with Luke's oldest, most experienced sibling. The results were uncanny, Luke towered over his siblings who looked as if he had not even broken a sweat, water was still swirling around him as he looked down on his brother. He offered out a hand to help him up, only for his hand to be swatted away. Gregory was proud of him, a bright smile etched across his face as he hugged Luke.

His parents however, were found to be displeased and angered. They quickly set documents for Luke to to go somewhere afar, Elemental Academy, and his Uncle was not allowed to follow him. No matter how much his Uncle tried to deter them from this, it was set in stone. On the surface it was for him to 'grow' better in one of the most studious academies, but in reality it was an excuse for him to be sent far away, basically a sort of banishment. Now Luke finds himself at the cusp of his first year at the Academy.

Name: Markus Dugan
Age: 18
Element: Lightning
Appearance:
Personality: Markus is a smart ass who likes to talk back and show just how little he care for authority. Markus is playful and fun loving always the first one to join a party but he always made sure to do the right thing. He may not like authority but that doesn't mean he doesn't understand it.
History: Markus was enrolled from afar at a young age since his mother was an elemental as well she always taught Markus about his powers and how to use them properly his father wasn't an elemental however so he also learned how to be with other people through him. Markus always had a knack for working with electricity in the apartment his favorite trick was making one of the light bulbs pop. As he grew up he loved to play with others and mess with grown ups by making electronics fry nearby and freak them out. Once he was of age his mother signed him up for the school to learn how to better control his powers and that's all she wrote...
Equipment: (But imagine their are little sparks of electricity inside the necklace) The necklace he got from his mother when he left helps controls his powers and keeps them in check

Name: Madison Nauders

Age: 15

Element: Fire

Personality: Madison has always been the quiet and reserved type. She'd much rather spend her time with a close friend or two than be the center of attention amongst a sizeable crowd. That doesn't mean she's antisocial thought; but her preference is to watch from the sidelines rather than being in the spotlight. Madison will become a chatterbox when drunk (she's not a total goody two-shoes) and surprisingly, she is quite the adrenaline junkie.

Madison doesn't like confrontation. If caught in an awkward situation, she will shy away from the issue and will probably lie to make it easier on herself.

History: Madison grew up in a stable home a couple of hours away from school grounds. She is the youngest of three siblings and has an older twin brother and sister. Her father, Jake, has the elemental gift of fire. Out of the five, they're the only two with any ability at all. Due to this common trait that they both share, Jake and Madison spent a lot of time together throughout the years. Having had a rough childhood himself, his parents even going as far as locking him in the basement, Jake sought to help Madison in any way he could after he learned a thing or two from friends with elemental experience.

Today, Madison is still learning how to work with her ability. She was sent to the academy by her parents who would much rather see her harness her gift than end up hurting or killing herself in the process. Her siblings, although somewhat jealous of her, are happy to see Madison will get the help she needs but they nonetheless wish they could be in her shoes.

Student CS:

Name: Neil Arroyo
Age: 17 Years
Element: Earth/Metal (Mainly Metal)
Appearance:
Personality: Neil is a very friendly, and also very self-centered character. Not exactly self-centered, but he is very confident in his abilities, and is very front to make a point of it. He is a powerful metal elemental, but Neil has to make himself out to be the apex of his kind. He believes that his struggles of training himself and becoming so powerful entitles him to consider himself the best at what he does.

History: Neil grew up in a very small town, far away from the academy. He discovered his ability to bend metal at a young age, and became very interested in it. He used to go off to the railyard, and move train tracks around, and such smaller things. Neil had both of his parents, and when he turned 15, he begged them to send him to the academy. They told him no, because it was to dangerous. They didn't want Neil to discover tapped abilities to become powerful. He started to save up his own money, and eventually left home. He took everything needed to get into the school. He took all the forms he got online, all his saved up money; and when he turned 17, ran away from home, in search of the Elemental Academy. He traveled afar, and eventually was able to get in. With fake signatures and a portion of his money stolen or gained illegally, Neil gained entry to the academy.

Equipment: Neil often carries a cube of pure steel in his pocket. In a pinch, if there is no metal around, he can bend it into a useful shape or form.

Natalie Redgrave

Age: 16
Element: Air
Appearance (refer to picture, this is the parts the pic can't show): Natalie stands at 165cm (5'4"). Her hair is on the darker side of platinum blonde and her eyes are a pale blue.
Personality: Soft-spoken and caring Natalie is generally a gentle girl and is rarely seen without a smile on her face. She cares deeply for her friends and is always prepared to be a shoulder to cry on. She's very kind-hearted and enjoys joking around with, well, anyone, though she only jokingly insults people who she knows can take the joke.

However there's the occasion when Natalie just wakes up in a terrible mood. On that case she becomes rampant and moody. Getting stressed and snappy over the smallest things. In times like these she oftens tries to distance herself from others to avoid hurting people's feelings, however, that's not alway the case. It's unpredictable when she has moods like this but they are rare.
History:
Only Natalie's mother is an element, her father was one of the tiny minority who do not fear nor hate elements. Growing up it was uncertain if she had inherited her mother's gift or not.

Natalie grew up as the only child of Jack and Kylie Redgrave. In order to ensure Kylie, and Natalie's when they discovered her gift, safety the small family lived and ran a milk cattle farm rather distant from most people, however, through her regular visits to the nearest town it didn't greatly damage her social skills, however she can still be socially awkward upon meeting new people.

Over time her gift became apparent and Natalie had no idea how to use it often leaving her frustrated and even fearing herself a an early point in discovering her powers. Her mother taught her the basics of controlling it but it was obvious she had to be taught by people who knew how to train which brought her parents to send her to Elemental Academy were her mum was a student.
Equipment:
This necklace was given to Natalie from her mother as she left for the academy. It is a family heirloom and has been in her mother's family for generations

Emi Akemi

Age
16

Height
167 Cm
5,5 Ft

Weight
45 Kg
100 Lbs

Hair color
Light Pink at the top and blonde at the bottom

Eye color
Blue/Purple

Figure
Curved

Element
Light

Equipment
N/A

Personality

Emi has multiple stages in her personality and mostly acts to one of them during a certain time of day. In the morning and evening periods when there still isn't any sun up she is very drowsy and likely sleeps at those times of the day. She gets cold really fasts It makes her a giant slacker and a non caring person that will hug anything in her reach to get warmth. The place she sleeps doesn't matter either at that point. Her vocabulary shortens to how closer she is to sleep, so talking to her in that state isn't the best idea.

When the sun is up she gets a bunch more active than before. She is cheerful and happy and likes to do something active that will let all her energy loose. It is legendary for her to be sad, there is always a positive side to each problem.

At midday she is very jumpy and sweet, it doesn't matter what the conditions are she will pull others into a fun ride. She is affect a lot by the temperature and mostly dresses according to how hot or how cold she thinks it is. Most doctors think her sleeping habit is a mixed combination between her element and the sleeping disorder narcolepsy.

Background

Emi always used to come by her grandparents to play after school, each and every day she enjoyed coming by since she wouldn't have to lonely wait at home for her mom to come home. Her grandad would keep her busy by playing with her while her grandma would cook dinner or make sweets for the small energetic girl. On her face was always a constant smile that never seemed to disappear. It was like she was one of the sunrays self knowing her power was light. The countless hours they spent building block castles, reading and puzzling together was unimaginable. Her always sweet smile kept beaming on her face even through bitter and hard times. When the weather was down and she felt sleeping there would be the same smile as the day before. It didn't matter the situation she wouldn't want her grandparents to be sad because of her. That would break her and their heart all the same.

Days passed by like minutes and everyone started growing older. For some reason her grandad started becoming more fluttered each time she visited, especially in the summer for some reason. It was weird enough he always wanted a hug and sometimes stared at her when she entered his house. Still she didn't mind. Emi was going to middle school as her grandparents began having all the small problems to their bodies from getting older. Her parents had both gotten a promotion and had to spend more time overseas. Emi didn't mind she was happy for them to have such a successful life. She had gotten used to it now overall and didn't even look up anymore when they would be gone for an entire week. She learned to keep the house well maintained on her own and with the help of her grandparents that would often come over to keep an eye out on her. The schedule she had maintained over the past few years kept well maintained even when her homework was a big pile that needed an incredible amount of time to finish. She would never ever distance herself from them one bit.

Just as every ordinary day Emi visited her grandparents. This day however was a little odd. Her grandad didn't remember on why she was visiting them. After each and every day of visiting he couldn't remember on why she came by. Emi felt a little worried about him and after a few more days she also told her parents and grandma about the fact he was starting to forget things. They took some test off of him and indeed he had an incurable disease that would make you forget everyday stuff. It didn't matter though, he would still be the same person she had cared for each and every day. It wasn't like a relation as this would go over so quickly anyway so what there to be worried about?

"Who are you?"

Like a sword piercing her heart, just like that. It hadn't even been two weeks and his condition was already getting worse. Emi could only let out a playful laugh and reminded her grandpa that it was his favorite grandchild. After that it went like usual, he would remember and they went on like the did back in the day. Still, it seemed to be getting worse by the day. She had to help him remember and eventually even had to help with simple tasks like eating or putting on his shoes. She couldn't let the smile he loved fade just because of a little obstacle.

Taking care of the old man was getting to be a big problem since his wife couldn't stay with him for 24/7 and neither had the strength to do double work at this age. So they decided to let him stay in the hospital so he had care each and every hour of the day. It didn't hinder Emi to come by everyday. She would get a gift for him each day so he might remember on how he had gotten the gifts. He seemed happy getting them from such sweet girl but he never remembered who gave them. It was a tragedy really. Till this day she would go by everyday to take care of him like he took care of her when she was still young.

Yoshino Hirasawa

(Yoshi, Shino)

Age
17

Height
158 Cm
5,2 Ft

Weight
52 Kg
114 Lbs

Hair color
Light Brown

Eye color
Brown

Figure
Curved

Element
Earth - Metal

Equipment
N/A

Personality

Yoshino is an observant and quick-witted girl. Normally she acts aloof and seems to be in her own little world, a small look of blankness on her face known all too well by the people around her. Her normal attitude seems to give off a disinterested, soft and meek aura, and she can be a klutz a lot of the time. All in all, on the outside she looks like a ditzy, aloof, pacifistic person that doesn't like to attract attention since she looks timid. However, on the battlefield or during a serious moment, Yoshino instantly turns serious. When mad, she shows it through her eyes hardening and not through violence.

Weirdly enough, she likes to hide her emotions behind a blank face. She is shown to be a very good actor, and can fake cry or lie her way out of a situation rather easily. Her addiction to soy milk and coffee stands out most about her as well as her appetite, and she's not very good at sports. It seems she is so emotionless that she doesn't ever laugh. Although a smile may make muscles hurt, laughing is something she hasn't done in a while. Her emotions are usually bottled up inside and if she feels embarrassed she'd just blush and keep her words to herself.

Background

20 years ago before Yoshino was born her father and mother were in debt by a rich family that lived in their village. They themselves ran a farm where they cultivated corn but after a few miss cultivations they were forced to lean from the family. Yet their farm kept making miss cultivations. After a series of loanings they were stopped from getting anymore money from the family the leant from. The rich family decided to give them an alternative to paying them back. They got to keep their house but they claimed the farm land for themselves. As alternative to paying back they would serve the family for as many generations needed to pay them back.

It wasn't as bad as it sounded, their work was do able and they got fair treatment. They ate together with the family and were all good friends actually. After a while they asked the family if they could get a child since it would cost them a lot of money. The rich family didn't hesitate for a second to say yes. Of course they had thought it through already. So as said, they had gotten a child of their own.

Thought proper manners and all the likes the girl was raised the right way. But after all the effort they had put into her she was still a mere child. The rich family wasn't hesitant to use measures to teach faults to someone. The child got beaten multiple times for not acting the right way. After a while she started to learn by closing her mouth when she was being spoken too. She became quiet and bottled up but she did everything that was being said. She did it the right way, the way the rich family requested from her.

The date was decided, the date when the family finally would have repaid their debt. Her parents felt horrible for her, knowing that she had been threatened this way. But also kind of happy that she was able to leave this place. They decided to stay and keep working for the household while their girl would move out to attend a normal school and live a good life without having to suffer like that again. At the end everyone felt happy for the girl to do what she wanted yet, Yoshino didn't accept any of the apologies the family had made to her knowing she felt sad after what they had done to her. They thought it was the right way of raising a child yet she definitly thought of it differently.

Elbritas Kessinger

Age: 36

Element: Fire

Appearance: Has shoulder-length black hair he keeps tied in either a pony tail or a bun, with a turquoise stud in his left ear. Wears a dark grey t-shirt with red shoulders, topped with an orange happi coat littered with black smiley faces. Polished off with black cargo shorts looped with a white belt and a belt buckle that changes nigh daily.

Personality: Elbritas is an… eccentric man. For the most part he's rather laid back and goofy, almost like an overgrown child. But when it comes time for him to teach his classes his one and only goal in that time period is to make sure all of his students are learning well and to help the ones that are struggling to understand or produce results. He knows that fire can be a fickle fiend, so he prepared an entire cabinet's worth of varying assisting tools that can help focus, or can conduct the element easier, or anything of the like.

History: He used to make regular trips back to the Academy after he graduated either for research or to simply take a break from everything. When he was 31 the old fire teacher was retiring Kano offered the position to him and he, quite simply, accepted. He enjoyed having a place to call home once more that left him open to really do whatever he wished so long as his students were progressing well. If ever a student asks what he did between graduating and teaching here he gives them a different answer every time. (Special ops to Russia, prisoner of war in Uganda, convenience store owner in Hokkaido, etc.)

Equipment: Elbritas wields a simple glaive, a black steel edge mounted on a long, sleek ash haft. The haft has some detailed carvings near the ends so as to not interfere with the grip, while at the same time adding a delicate beauty to it. On the opposite end of the haft there is a rounded metal ending for blunt impact damage should the need arise. In addition he also has a pouch attached to his belt at the hip full of sharpened wooden darts that he can ignite and throw with rather good accuracy.

Class Taught: Fire

Headmaster

Age: Unknown

Element: Fire/Blood

Personality: There is no predicting Headmaster, only Kano has a chance of knowing what he may do and why he may do it. For the most part he acts very kind and enthusiastically to the students and staff members, but if he sees someone breaking the rules it's going to be hell on earth for the poor soul who does it.

History: Headmaster's true name is lost to the annals of time, but he came to the valley he now calls home a long, long time ago. When he arrived there was nothing in the valley, but he saw promise. Working alongside Kano and another dear friend, they wielded their immense powers to form the school initially, and then through that, decided to construct the village many elementalists now call home. Their goal was to provide a safe place for young elementalists to learn and evolve their powers past what any stray skilled elementalist could teach them, and to create a community in which those searching for a safe place to live, free from prying eyes of judgmental people jealous or scared of their powers and sought to harm or incarcerate them because of the gift that they were born with.

Equipment: Nothing but a tome sealed with multiple chains that don't seem to have a lock, but that they were welded together on TOP of the book, presumably so that the only person that could possibly open it up and read it is the headmaster.

Everyone thinks of the silence, but what of the pin that dropped?

Name
Eliza Roze Marshal

Age
Sixteen [16]

Size(s)
44B, 27W, 36H

Element
Light and Darkness

Attunment
Unfortunately for the young girl, her heart aligns more easily with the power of darkness that flows through her. She finds solace in the cold calm of the shadow, the 'truth' she feels so attached to. This swallowing Darkness seems to be all that's holding her together these days.
Fortunately for her, her gift for Light is easier to handle. She manipulates it with care and perfection, only going so far as to what she knows she can do. She likes to expand her limits - but only in private where no one may see her fail. Refracting light into different colours is a favoured pastime, and something she does subconsciously when she is stressed.

Personality
Calm | Collected | Gloomy | Anxious | Determined | Sarcastic

We judge simply by what we see; much hidden beneath the surface

Eliza is not an optimist, but neither is she a pessimist. She may be best described as a realist, though her ambition to become better than she is, is something she does see as a realistic goal. She lacks a certain sense of peace that often gives others the relaxation that they crave. Eliza, knowing nothing of this, pushes herself to her absolute limit, crashing against that wall time and again until she passes by the obstacle that ceased her personal progression.

On another note, Eliza is haunted by her inner demons, even if she won't admit it since she finds these demons more comforting than the kindness of others. She holds a barrier between herself and others, refusing to allow anyone close enough to realize how truly shatter she is. Her sharp tongue hides her tears, her calm, her inner turmoil. More often than not she is uncertain of who she even is, or what she should be. With multiple voices whispering in your head, it's not hard to lose your way. Who knows if she is even capable of true love, friendship or kindness anymore?

History

It's the past that we remember when we think of what is to come. We determine our path by passed failures, wrongs and loves. It is that past that holds us back from our true potential. From the fate that awaits us later. It is unavoidable, and we cannot change it. It happened. We must moved passed it if we are to flourish. But never forget the wrongs they have done you. Such reminders are the Truth hidden in pain. People will betray you; no one can be trusted

Huddled in the closet, a blanket thrown over her head and hands firmly pressed against her ears, tears fell from eyes shut tight, figure shivering despite the heat of the small space. Crammed back as far as she could go, back firm against the wall beneath the very bottom shelf, shoes piled in front of her to hide her from view. The girl sniffled, smothering her sobs with her knees and more blanket. Her skirt was torn at the hems, fingers bloody from nails bitten to the quick. Knees drawn close, face shoved into her legs. The blanket shivered slightly, following the erratic sobbing of the child beneath it. The sound of boots being flung aside caused all movement to cease. She froze, eyes wide open, seeing nothing but the darkness created by the blanket, hoping beyond hope that she wouldn't be found there. All hope was lost unfortunately. The blanket, yanked aside, thrown across the room. Exposed, the girl lifted her head, a fresh wave of tears on her eyes. Tear streaked cheeks, all colour drained from her face. Small hands lifted, open palmed, as if she could stop what was coming with tears and sadness. Large, calloused fingers grabbed the front of her dress, yanking her violently from her hiding place. Heavy wind, cold, impact. The wall against her back, head snapped back, sore, swelling, broken. No more tears.

Fingers softly pushed the hair from her face, finding the girls odd colour eyes, lifting her chin until she looked him in the face. Soft, blue, kind. Past forgotten, lips touched in silent embrace. Passion, love; dependence, obsession; need, greed; selfishness, wanting. Limbs entwined, lovers sweetness. Tender touches, starlit gazes. Enshrouded by the moon, the two danced alone on the beach, sand in the feet, stars in their eyes. "I love you."

Eyes wide, watching them. The two unaware she was there. Heart pounding, tears in her eyes. Betrayal. She had known love, felt it, embraced it. Gone now. Forever. Hands curled into fists, nails biting into her palms, ripping open long closed scars. Light gathered, darkened, stained. It flowed through her, gave her strength her Light never had. Driven by her broken heart, she lashed out at the lovers on the beach. "Go to Hell!" Her voice boomed with power, gathered energy. The destructive force broke rock near her, pulverizing it, reaching the two before they had become nothing but pieces and blood stains on the beach. The final time the girl cried, sitting in the pool of blood she had created.

After that the beatings from her father got worse, her lack of reaction driving him closer to the edge as she refused to cry out in pain any longer. She made it to sixteen without another incident, living as she always had. As an average human being with no ability whatsoever. It was only when a man arrived in the small town, far away from the Academy, scouting for potentials when he came across the house they lived in. He watched the home and it's residents for several days before he caught a glimpse of the father beating his daughter, his wife already locked in the bedroom. It occurred to him that this must have been happening her entire life to have such a look of emptiness in her eyes. She looked like a corpse in her eyes, no emotion on her face. It was this man that brought her to the Academy, having had to subdue her and force the girl to listen to him. He had seen the light in her eyes, felt how the hope was leaving her, and knew with it she may well lose her sanity. She was born with a gift for Light, why should she fall to Darkness?

Weapons
A pair of sabers, worn on her hips, crafted by a Fire and Metal Elementalist from her home village. A gift, left in her bedroom while she was away at school on her thirteenth nameday. It was the single sign of kindness and comfort she received for years, sympathy she never asked for but found herself unable to forget. She has since kept the blades polished and sharp. She has since spent days in the forest clearing, attempting to teach herself to use them.

Gear
Upon her discovery mid semester of the previous year, her savior fit her with a set of tough leather boots, leather bracers with steel wire inlaid to strengthen them. Her armor is light, and made mostly of leather and silk, giving her more movement than traditional pieces. She does not like to be held down by weight. She has a large black cloak, lined with wolf fur, soft and warm for winter.

Teacher CS
Avarius Elthandeir

Avey storm chaser,

Age: 23
Element: Air
Personality:
An eccentric free thinker with a gentle heart.
To say Averius was an odd child would be an understatement, to assume he had out grown it would be gravely inaccurate. Just as genius can be found in the misfortunate and mad, the inner workings of Avey's mind was both a mysterious blessing and a curse.

At certain times he can seem to lack empathy, but those worrying occasions are rare.
His humour is often abstract and his thoughts commonly unfiltered and unrestrained.
Most the time he appears light hearted and aloof. Despite his oddities he is quite shy and quiet.

Avarius has taken a Vow of Non-violence wich he follows very seriously, often relying on Vallen when situations become rough.

History: Little is known of the young prodigies past. Questions are often quickly deflect but if one can bring him to ponder on his past for even a moment, his eyes fill with a mix of emotions, crippling him socially.
Equipment: Having adopted a minimalist lifestyle Avarius holds few possessions dear to him. He has the clothes on his back, a few spare rags, a bed roll he calls home and thats it.
Class Taught: Air~elemental/mental flow

Teachers Aid
Vallen

The Silent Monk,

Age: 28
Element: (no longer using elemental magic, it is unknown what power he once possessed)
Personality: Vallen keeps to himself and his work at the academy. He avoids conversation and confrontation. In class he is firm yet fair. 'Tough love' he is also very protective of his mentor and students.
History: Vallen grew up in a prominent conjuring family that held him to high expectations. His magic never lived up to their esteem.
What he lacked in elemental affinity he made up for in combative skill.
Years of rigid and strict training from self serving proud parents produced a troubled teen. After near expulsion from the academy he was taken on by Avarius as a permanent personal assistant and pupil.

He has since began bettering his ways by respecting his elemental affinity more and not using it for the advantages that it brings. In the past he miss-used and took it for granted, so now he is trying to atone.
He still recognises his gift and connection and will even meditate on it but he has learnt that it put his life out of the greater balance.
That is the lessons Avarius is teaching him.

Equipment: Kusarigama
Appearance:

Class Taught: Teachers aid. Combat movement.

Student
Kain Rassid

Those that fear the dark haven't seen what the light can do.

Personal Information

Gender: Male
Age: 18,
Element: Lightning
Personality: Kain is highly energetic and competitive. He has a way to see the positive side of things and always moves forward. He is eager to learn and grow although not always the brightest student.
Since becoming attuned to his abilities he has grown in arrogance and confidence.
He is a loud daring personality, not shy nor worried of others opinions at all.
History: Kain grew up in a foster family, never knowing his own. But his new family was good to him, they looked after him. They were not rich but did ok.
When Kain showed signs of being attuned to an element his foster family could not stand in the way of his desire for adventure or his endless ambitions. They aided him as best they could for his journey.

Lucius Hawthorne

Age: 36
Element: Light
Personality: Lucius may appear as an intimidating figure but in truth he is a gentle and patient soul. Following the methods his master, Lucius is willing to take as much time as necessary to instruct his students as long as they have a determined heart and an open mind. To him, meeting the pupil each day is not enough, if one wishes to truly teach their student, they must learn about their student. Their strengths, their weaknesses, their passions, their fears, it all adds up to define the ideal method of teaching.
History: At the age of twelve, Lucius' parents discovered their son's ability to manipulate light. Prior to this, the young boy had begun to teach himself about his special gift in secret. When he was discovered, his parents wanted to help but had to idea how. Thankfully there was a way to find the aid their son needed, to keep his gifts hidden from the world they feared would not accept him.

Lucius' parents were international aid workers and so traveling to different places was not difficult. When Lucius was fourteen, his parents heard rumors of a man in South America who healed people by calling upon the sun. The Hawthorne family traveled to South America, to a part of the Amazon located in the small country of Guyana. There they found in the dense rainforest the rumored healer who immediately knew of Lucius' abilities. An agreement was made that Lucius would be taught by the monk, Koural, while his parents remained in Guyana, providing aid to the nearby population...hundreds of miles away.

Lucius trained under the guidance of Koural in the deepest reaches of the Amazon. For eighteen years the two of them wandered the immense rainforest. Eighteen years of Lucius' life was spent away from his parents; healing the sick and wounded, learning the manipulation of light in ways he'd never imaged before, promoting and preserving life across the wilds. He'd done this for so long he never found out about his parents' deaths until one day he traveled to the nearby town.

After discovering the fate of his parents, Lucius finished his training before traveling the world, hoping to spread his master's, and parents', work of charity. Eventually, after three years of wandering, he ended up at the Academy and his purpose was discovered. Lucius would spend the next three years teaching the next generation of Light Elementals all he knew in the hopes of bringing about the world his parents dreamed of.
Equipment:
The Brand- Lucius has marked his body with runes which harvest light which can be stored until needed. The runes can also be used as a light source in dark environments as they can emit the light stored within. The Brand can also passively transfer light to nearby light elementals on Lucius' command and also act as a healing source though it does not regenerate mortal runes: mostly cuts, bruises, fractured or broken bones, etc.
Class Taught: Photokinesis 101- An introduction to the basics of light manipulation and it's application into and onto the corporeal form.

Brunhilde Vigmundsdottir

Age: 17

Element: Wind.

Appearance:

4'10", 85 lbs. Absurdly small and narrow. She has short, straight auburn hair atop a short and wide face, with low and prominent cheekbones. Her ice blue eyes appear dull and vacant - almost lifeless.

Most of her garments consist of an earth-tone tunic under a sleeveless doublet, with earth-tone pants tucked into perfectly fitted, dark-green boots.

A tattoo is visible on the back of each hand. Both are reminders. On the left is the message "I have amnesia.", and on the right is the message "Check the journal."

Personality: Brunhilde is generally friendly to those around her, often very cheerful, and extremely confident in herself. She speaks very clearly and carefully to avoid being misinterpreted. Around people she's comfortable with, she tends to be much less careful with her choice of words, which often backfires. She is fiercely (and often violently) protective of herself and the things she cares about. Since coming to the Academy, she has been pushing herself much, much too hard, which has been problematic, to say the least.

She suffers from anterograde amnesia, constantly forgetting that she has ever met people or that events in her life have occurred. Generalized knowledge, facts, skills, and the like seem to be completely unaffected, thankfully - and she's able to remember certain things about herself if she reads it like it doesn't pertain to her. On account of this forgetfulness, she continually finds herself in unknown situations, and when she doesn't have several clear lines of escape, this puts her on edge.

She despises and fears cows, and because of this, she has dedicated her culinary preferences to taking revenge one delicious bite at a time.

Key words: Friendly. Confident. Periodically insensitive.. Aggressive. Amnesiac. Fearful.

History: Brunhilde's childhood was, for the most part, good. Her parents were farmers on an island nation somewhere between Greenland and Nunavut, just a couple miles south of a moderately large (if very poor) fishing village. At the age of 6, she was identified by her family as having some elementalist tendencies, but was forced to keep her abilities hidden from her friends from the village, out of fear that she may be barred from ever entering the town again. Her parents' fear for her safety led them to enroll her in a local martial arts school for two years, where she met a number of good friends. The school taught what was merely referred to as 'self defense', and incorporated techniques and philosophies from a wide range of other martial arts. She eventually lost interest in formal martial arts training, however, and left the school just a few months before she would have taken her exam to become a black belt. Her parents were satisfied that she could protect herself.

At the age of 10, she was playing and practicing her elementalist skills out in her family's fields when disaster struck. One of the cattle was afflicted with Mad Cow Disease due to a farmhand's incompetence and lost control, trampling crops and chickens alike. Brunhilde took a hoof to the head before the cow was put down, and although she made a full physical recovery, she had lost the ability to form new biographical memories. Her parents brought the farmhand in question before a tribunal to seek retribution for her injuries and the lost livestock. Brunhilde was brought to the witness stand, and when questioned, she was unable to recall anything had happened at all. This, of course, was used as evidence that she had been altered as a result of her head injury. The farmhand was found guilty and forced to repay the family with one cow and one goat, as well as serving a two week sentence in the stocks for gross negligence.

Her parents scrounged up what money they could for her to be seen by a psychologist from down south. Money was tight, but they managed fine regardless, and through years of therapy, she began to be able to cope with her disability by means of keeping journals and by identifying the ghosts of feelings of familiarity as reminders. Eventually, she even started learning to recognize whether or not she knew her friends or not. Their identities were still usually a mystery to her until she checked her journal, but a vague sense of deja-vu caused her to check in the first place.

During the seven years after the accident, she continued learning wind manipulation in the safety of her own land, until she made a single mistake. She didn't realize that her parents had company one day, and was spotted hovering three feet above the ground by one of the town's butchers, who had come to take one of the cattle. He said nothing to her family, but brought this news to the town hall. The local government recognized that she had not been a threat to the town, but that elementalists were abominations that must be removed, and they held a vote. The decision was 5-4 in favor of banishment over imprisonment. One courier later, her parents pulled her inside, helped her pack her things and many days' worth of provisions, and wrote two words on the most recent page of her journal: "The Academy" before sending her southwards on a plane. Under this, she wrote a reminder to herself to stay in contact with her parents as time went on.

Her arrival at the Academy was, unfortunately, too late for her to observe the opening ceremony for the semester.

Equipment: An enormous travel pack with a mess kit, a sleeping bag, several sets of clothes, a large heap of empty Slim Jim wrappers at the bottom of the travel pack, an enormous journal with a steel cover, and more pens than any normal person would know what to do with. Her only weapons are her fists.

Initial Wind Talents: Hovering a short distance above the ground, creating small breezes, cow tipping, and putting some extra force behind her fists.
Adjusted Wind Talents: A bit of focus in the classroom is leading Brunhilde to become increasingly creative with what skill she does have, and she is currently learning airsense, which will both allow her to feel her environment and control the wind more effectively.

Name: Chen Hyodo
Age: 17
Element: Ice(?)
Personality: Chen is a really friendly person, focusing on other people instead of himself. He's a good listener and is always willing to try and help people out with their problems. Chen tries to stay calm at all times, otherwise his powers tend to go out of control. The one thing that always makes him angry is when you mention his height, he's pretty short at 5'3 and he knows it. Otherwise he just wants to get along with people.

In terms of his goals, he enjoys improving upon himself and being the best at what he does. He's pretty smart but he sometimes overestimates his intelligence which can sometimes be to his disadvantage.

Appearance: Note that his hair is actually white after an incident on his 7th birthday. He is also 5'3 and is a pretty skinny guy overall.

History: Chen was born in Hakuba, Japan on a snowy night in December. His parents considered him to be a early Christmas gift and his first 6 years of his life were wonderful. He would love to play in the snow and even learned to ice skate at the age of 5. Things changed on his 7th birthday though. He got into a fight with a friend at school, things escalating enough that Chen freaked out. His elemental powers awakened and his parents had to be called in to make sure he didn't hurt anyone. By the end of the day, everyone made it out of the school safely, but the school itself was permanently covered in a thick layer of ice.

His parents had the same powers as him, but his were more powerful then theirs had ever been. They didn't know what to do with him, until Chen's father mentioned the school he went to as a teen. It was quickly decided that he would be sent there to learn, under the care of a teacher who worked at the Academy. That teacher's name was Kano Hargor, who had offered to keep an eye on Chen after seeing the results of his untapped potential.

It was a strange arrangement, Chen was given an apartment near the school where he basically raised himself with small adjustments from Kano every now and then. Sometimes it was instructions on how to operate a stove, others it was just a broom and dustpan being where the tv usually was. Most of the time though it was just some schoolwork that Kano assumed was appropriate for someone his age. His parents would visit once a year, bringing him presents and having a family outing in a nearby village. Every time he visited they would make sure to impress upon him the value of being a kind individual no matter what. After ten years of this he enrolled in the Elemental Academy at the age of 17.
Equipment: Ice Skates, Thick Blue Gloves, Snow Goggles (kept around his neck), and a staff that he made to direct ice more easily. Keeps it in a leather holster on his back.

Student CS:

Name: Rinna Kasai
Age: 18
Element: Water
Appearance: For someone who is supposedly 18, Rinna is tiny. Barely reaching five feet tall, it is only her other features confirm that she is not secretly a middle schooler. A curvy girl, with black hair long enough to reach her waistline, she also boasts lightly tanned olive skin. Her eyes are a vibrant shade of green, so bright that people have checked to see if she wears colored contacts on multiple occasions. A button shaped nose and square jawline makes her eyes the most striking feature of an otherwise average girl. She prefers to wear tank tops, cargo pants and sneakers, usually in dark colors. She has been known to dress to the nines for special occasions though. And those who look closely can see the beginning of a large scar peeking out from the straps of her tanktop, right next to the left side of her spine.
Personality: Rinna is a very independent, headstrong girl. She hates having to rely on others for anything. She's not overly chatty, but neither is she a brick wall when it comes to conversation. She does consider her words before she speaks them, but some serious snark can slip out of her unbidden on occasion. Being an only child, she is quite comfortable with being on her own, but has no problem being in the thick of the group either. Like most of the Kasai family, she has a magnetic sort of charm to her, that lends itself well to leadership. She also shows a familiar streak of mischief as well.
That's not to say she doesn't have her flaws. Rinna has a knack for getting herself into trouble, specifically of the "I told you not to do that" variety. She's also reckless, trying things that others would describe as dangerous without so much as a second thought. Most of this behavior though, stems from the fear that she will not live up to her family name, that holds so much history in this valley.
History: Long ago, the Kasai family was very prolific inside the valley, but over time, their power died out, and every living member of the clan moved away, wishing to give their space to those who would actually need it. Rinna is the first Kasai to set foot on these grounds in generations, and it as if every inch of the valley calls out to her.
She is also the last of her line. A year ago, Rinna was in a car accident that killed both of her parents, and left her with a very large scar running down her back, along the entire length of her spine. Modern doctors are still baffled on how she managed to survive, and the police report of the incident mentions briefly that the entire back of the car was soaking wet, though only a single empty water bottle was found in the vehicle. She spent the remainder of the year in rehab, to ensure that an injury so close to her spine had not impaired her motor skills in any way.
On her last day in rehab, a letter appeared for her at the front desk, a message claiming to be penned by an old family friend. It claimed her survival was no accident, or miracle, but a resurgence of the latent power of her family. He also mentioned a school where she could learn to control that power, just as her ancestors had. Before then, she had considered the stories of her ancestors to be nothing more than fairy tales, but it was clear that something outside of her normal experience had saved her. So she headed home, packed up her backpack, gave the keys of her home to her neighbor, (asking nicely if they would water the plants for her) and took off on her motorcycle.
Equipment: Rinna doesn't keep much on her person aside from her wallet, motorcycle keys and a tube of dark red lipstick. But one very important item has been added to her person just recently. A very old, well cared for leather belt harness and dual sheaths for two equally old blade tonfa, that will no doubt be familiar to some members of the staff. There is a third sheath along the back, that remains empty, the blade that once belonged there lost to her family in ages past.

Name:
Maxim

Age:
???

Element:
Aether/Nether

Appearance:

Personality:
Maxim is not one for social settings and large crowds, he may enjoy that company of a few on occasion or working alongside a respected peer but he will usually avoid having to deal with too many people at once. He can be hard to read for obvious reasons and can often appear uncaring and cold though sometimes his emotions can be gleamed from his movements are even the atmosphere around him.

History:
Maxim was among the early techmentals back when the practice was new and unknown with so much potential. While most others choose to harness lightning or even fire energy for their machines Maxim looked to aether, encountering much more difficulty but opening far more possibilities, some of which could be counted as little more than distant hopes and faded dreams.

Developing an Aether core was major step as it became the basis for all the tech he created and aether itself became a key in some of his further research. He was able to use it to meld machinery with living beings, a procedure he spent a long time perfecting, and once he did he was able to give himself abilities akin to those of an actual elemental, if never quite as powerful and most often unstable as the the organic part of him couldn't always handle the output.

His eventual decision was to simply abandon his body, creating a new one for himself using the Aether core though it wasn't enough to sustain himself within it. Frustrated, he turned to a far darker and even more dangerous element: Nether. Infusing the Aether core with Nether energy made it capable of containing his consciousness within, though yet it still remained unstable. Thankfully this was much easier to fix, the solution came as a second smaller core implanted in the head that would allow for control of both body and power.

Finally came the part that was suppose to be the easiest: transference. He'd assumed that after everything he'd done moving his soul into a new body would be simple, and he was right, partially, the matter itself was simple to accomplish, however, as he had no assistants doing it himself would be complicated. He again resorted to combining Aether and Nether. Using Aether to establish a connection between his old body and his new one, then Nether to destroy his old one and force his soul along the connection to Aether-Nether core. Somewhere along the line something went wrong, Maxim to this day does not know what happened, and he was left trapped in a state of only half-existing, perhaps he was between passing on and remaining in this world, He felt as if, and is honestly sure that he'd spent an eternity in that state before, quite suddenly, he found that he'd succeeded "awaking" in the mechanical body. It was obvious that time had passed since he'd begun, he wasn't sure how much but it did seem as if not much "real-world" time had passed, perhaps only a few years, a decade at most.

He was since discovered by the leading Techmentals Rein and Fizban, who brought him to the academy where he now resides.

Equipment:
Maxim's guns: an array of devices Maxim utilizes in a fight. The weapons harness Aether, or Nether depending on Maxim, and fire it in focused beams to a devastating effect. The weapons themselves levitate around him and do not require his physical touch to operate.

Class Taught: Techmental. Occasionally available as a tutor in a few subjects.

Age:
16

Element:
Earth/Plant

Appearance:
Tall, pale and skinny. Eric has a pale complexion, made worse by him staying in a lot lately, and messy, thick light brown hair. All these traits are things he can thank his dad for, but the steel blue-grey eyes are something his mother has all the credit for.

Personality:
Eric is a relatively laid-back guy with a curiosity for almost anything and everything which has to led him to know a bit about everything, but not a lot about anything, except music, he loves it and if he finds a band he likes he will track down all information about them he can get his hands on. He comes off as a sweet and polite guy, but his closest friends know that the amount of smut and random stuff in Eric's head slightly disturbing, not to mention his odd sense of humor.

History:

Eric has always lived a pretty comfortable life with his parents and the dog they got after his dad refused to have another child and they had to come up with some kind of substitute. Both Eric's parents have worked at a library for as long as Eric can remember, and he spent a lot of his childhood there, but that quickly changed as his powers surfacing, and they eventually had to ban him from the library until he got things under control. His mother had struggled with her gift when she was younger, and she understood that Erik hadn't meant to use his powers and that he didn't have control over his powers yet, but it was safer for everyone to keep him out of the library until he could suppress them.

Time flew by and bit after bit his parents managed to sneak in how he could control his powers. These tips and tricks worked, there was a few minor accident here and there, but none since he was 13 and his parents now feel that he should leave home and to start going school so that he can learn to use his powers.
