The jack of my laptop charge port is bork. So I won't be participating in this rp as my laptop will die in 2 and half hours. It'll probably be some weeks before I can fix it.
"It is inspired by Tolkien, Dune, Warhammer fantasy, Lovecraft, China Mieville, & Morrowind."
And with that, you have made me very, very interested. Is there room for a Faction of cutthroat social-climbing Merchant Aristocrats with a certain "Innsmouth Look" that trade in exotic items from the Far East and West in yer fair city?

I was planning on my Vamps homeland having a sort of Lovecraft Country/Campbell Country feel, mixed liberally with classic Transylvania, itself located not too far away from the desert regions of the middle east.
Would a constant string of historical blood wars between the Vampire houses of said nation, and the possible vampire/lich lords of the Union be possible, lorewise?
Considering their differences on slavery, I could see it as a sort of parallel to the Crusades.

Flagg, to roll with this idea I sent you a character/faction sheet for the Drathian Ambassador. If you're cool with it I can draw up the basic history and lore for the Union and merge it with Ophidians idea?

Looking over the profile on the Union...

All good stuff. One point to make though is that no one is limited to the Union or any of the other NPCs I've used. People should feel totally free to make up their own NPC nations as well, of equal or even greater import to the history of New Anathagos than any of my own NPCs. The point is to say: feel free to use the Union as much as you like, but if you'd rather start from scratch and make your own NPC nation, go for it!
Faction Name: Galiah Alias: The Holy Land Faction Type: Country Faction Species: Humans, Kiln, Golems, Kyre

Faction History: Galiah was founded many years ago. Some Disciple scholars had been working on what might have been the most important project of their lives: the location of the mythical Galiah, where Modiah lived eons ago. It cost two their lives, as certain rogue sects did not want it to be found. But, after what seemed a lifetime of research, they had located the general area. Disciple forces arrived in the country, The surrounding countries had not touched Galiah, creating a natural border. The troops were curious as to why, and soon found out. Serpents of pure flame, creatures of pure rock, and a terrain more hostile than the recently established Burned Earth. It took three attempts to fortify, and eventually the Disciples were successful. Slowly, a strong capital was built in the center of the dead land, and troops are still sent out to this day, scouting for the ruins of Modiahs farm. Their main export is rare minerals and stones from the bountiful mines between the sand and the bedrock
Important Characters: President Cyrus Allister: The proud leader of Galiah. Has absolute power over nearly every aspect of the government, excluding the voting system. Platform relies on the expansion of the capital, Firestone.
Important Holdings/Territory/Possessions: Galiah holds many biblical and divine objects from the Holy Book.
Relation to other Factions: Is in the middle of establishing trade with New Anathagos.
Ok, it's settled. I'll make a Holy Military order of Crusaders who are selling their swords for worthy causes and healing/feeding the poor and sick. In this world of morally ambiguous factions, we shall be a beacon in the light. Also, I love the idea of monster hunting pirates so much that they'll be friends of @The Survivor Steel Sail Hunting Co. for a reason that has yet to be determined. :P
Room for a ruthless and money grubbing family running an arms dealing/manufacturing/inventing empire and dealing in the occult but plagued with internal troubles and myriad other conundrums?

Having a well built fleet of ships, a sizeable detachment of men willing to protect your every caravan our group is diverse (Excerpt from a paper on a notice board)
Faction History:
Not much is known about the dock boys
Official records of Green Trading and Protection exist, but these records are vague and often really don’t explain the whole story of what really goes on behind the scenes. What is known is they began to exist roughly 40 years ago as as trading outfit with protection services. Armed mercenaries for convoy’s or boats for boats saying away were some of their notable services of “protection”. Trading wise there major goods were sugar, rum, skins of rhinos and other extotic animal skins. In the community the organization was cited of being a place where people could find a decent job, and earn above average money.
Yet shady occurrences began to occur. The first was during the signing off the Animal Protection Act. In short the act gave knights, other armed servicemen commissioned by the government funding to protect extoic animals and to have a “poaching defense force” per say. This didn’t sit well with various factions and lobbying began. Attempts failed and a lot of the poaching houses went underground or defunct. What was interesting however was Sir Gerald Isaiah, one of the leading proponents of the act disappeared 3 days after the appeal process was formally completed. Investigations ensued before Gerald’s body was found in a butcher shop basement, chopped up into pieces.Theories ensued but what happened afterwards was political backing of the act was slowly diminished, with a lot of the politicians fearing for their lives
Many more occurrences have occurred. The rumors in the city are that Green Trading and Protection are known for accepting hired hits, information gathering/spies, extorting small businesses and burning down undesirable competition to get land deeds and other important documents. Slavery of both human and non-human kinds. The rumors of booze smuggling that’s over the legal limit for acceptable alcohol content (Which is 60%) but also of drug manufacturing. The only serious attempt to take down or bring the truth about the company was by Captian Jermiah Wilkerson. Jermiah was known to be involved in a sex scandal involving an underage girl who to this day he admits was a setup by the trading company. HIs credibility has gone down and all of his case files have disappeared on the matter.
Important Characters:
“J” - Leader, Human. Goes by J and none of his faction know his real name. Natalia Estrada - Human, head of prositiution. Jahman Forrisk - Dorok Male, known to be the right hand man to J. In charge of drug smuggling ring. Lee Frock - Gahjin Male, known to run the “problem solvers” Tarreek Gzar - Fien Male, Head of the fleet of ships, and naval hunting. (More characters to be added as story goes on by)
Important Holdings/Territory/Possessions:

3 Dock Warehouses, located on the south side of the port 1 Office, with a hidden trapdoor to the basement/underground safehouse Another office in the downtown/core of the city, used for more of the central affairs and is a operational center. Jazirat Alddumue
Alias:The Island of Tears, The Tears
Faction Type: Commercial Enterprise Leadership: The Tears, as it is locally known, is controlled by a commercial syndicate originating in the Drathan Union. Faction Specie(s): The upper management of the Island of Tears are of all races, as are the enforcers it controls and the slaves it sells. Those in the highest positions of power are from the Drathan Union itself and would simply call themselves "Undead" when pressed to classify their species.
Location: Off the coast of Jos lies a small Island, its actual name long forgotten. It has been developed into the thriving centre of the slave trade and bears more in common with the architecture from the Union than from Jos. It is now known as the Island of Tears, or more simply as The Tears.
Faction Religion/Ideology: The Drathan Union is well known for its practices in Magic, particularly Undead magic. Religion is based around a pantheon of gods, all of whom demand sacrifice. Slaves are good for more than just working.
Faction Description: A loose confederation of desert city states along the River Velym, mostly ruled by mage-lords, many rumored to be vampires and liches. The greatest of these cities is the vast port of Zar Dratha, located East of New Anathagos along the Bay of Teeth. The Union is a powerful but backwards place, usually aloof to concerns beyond its borders and protected by the vast deserts that isolate it from most other nations. Among important Union exports are crocodile skins, enchanted and magical goods, educated or trained slaves, and foodstuffs from the hyperfertile river valleys of the desert. It imports gunpowder, metals, maritime products and, above all, slaves of every kind.
Those on their first visit to The Tears have often expected filthy and squalid conditions but the Drathan's know that filth causes disease, and disease kills merchandise. As a result The Tears is kept clean and well maintained, perhaps even more so that New Anathagos. Regulations exist to provide proper care, food and basics to slaves. Not out of kindness, but because a healthy slave is worth far more. There is a section of the Island referred to as "The Barns" where long low barn looking structures hold the cheapest and most pathetic of slaves. Misery and suffering is a way of life here, but any slave purchased here is meant to be worked to death, or whatever its master has in store for it.
Faction History: Once home to little more than a few farmers and their pathetic crops the island was purchased generations ago by a Liche Lord from the Drathan Union when he was unable to land his slave ship in the city proper. Thinking quickly on his feet, he purchased the virtually worthless island from its few inhabitants and built the first slave market in order to sell his wares. Over the generations the slave markets have grown and expanded until they took over the entire island. Permanent structures grew, then Drathian investors arrived in greater numbers until it was a thriving commercial venture. The Drathians still hold sway over the island and it looks much like their own homeland, a testament to the influence they have had in the region.
Important Characters:
The Musharraf, or Overseer in the common tongue, is the ultimate authority on the Island of Tears. It is through her that permits to sell slaves are issued, slave pens leased, and a percentage of all sales collected. She of course moves in the social circles of New Anathagos, ensuring that no interference is forth coming from the Parliament, most of whom own at least a few slaves. The current Musharraf, Jamila Sayidat, is an Undead Mage of generous beauty who is said to have Vampiric tendencies, given that she doesn't appear to have aged in the past fifty years, it could easily be true.
Important Holdings/Territory/Possessions: The Island of Tears does not project power beyond its own coastline.
Relation to other Factions: The Island of Tears is neutral and will do business with anyone.
Does anyone have any real editing skills? I have been unable to locate a good city map, or island map, let alone combine the two. The one island I have found that would work has no city on it, and I would like to ask someone to add a city if possible?
So everyone is aware, I have changed my faction, here she be.

One thing: the island looks a tad big to me. More the size of the island the main city is on than a minor island with slave markets on it.
