Description: Nagas are one of the larger races, with males averaging a height of 7-8 feet, and females 5-6 feet not including the tail. Nagas are reptilian and are said to be close relatives to dragons, though there is no evidence to back up this claim other then their reptilian nature. Nagas are native to a large island named Sarkhany, about the size of new Zealand. Sarkhany is an island that sports a tropical forest, salt water mangroves, and several volcanic mountains, most of which are active.
Nagas have an indefinite lifespan but often fall victim to various fatal diseases after a few centuries, and due to their primitive culture they lack the tools or medicine to cure or prevent such blights. Since nagas didnt start leaving the island until recent years, there has been no recorded case of a Naga exceeding 500 years. Nagas shed their skin in a similar matter to snakes and lizards once every 2 months.
Males are described as being as large and as savage as a bear, the largest of individuals have been recorded to lift half a ton without any struggle, though there has yet to be a naga that can lift anything over a ton.
Females are described as a more swift and cunning, though more fragile counter part. Females are more snake like and lack legs while males resemble more like lizards.
Miracle body: Nagas have various unique body properties that make them prized prey for black markets and other such industries. They can regenerate limbs and their tails within a course of three months. Their blood has shown to have healing properties as well as antibiotic properties and a pleasant taste to other races that ingest it. Much of there scales are hard and durable with a similar consistency of metal, albeit still having somewhat of a leathery texture. Skinning Nagas for use of such durable scales is another common practice, there greatest use is for heat resistance products as the body of a naga appears to withstand even the molten rock of their home island. Eating the eyes of a naga are said to bestow better vision and clears stress, though this hasn't been proven. Skin casts of naga aren't as strong as fresh skin, and they are practically invaluable. Nagas posses a venomous bite with similar qualities to a rattle snake, however the venom can be augmented to be a nearly all purpose anti venom, their venom is both prized as to apply to weapons or used for anti venom. Females often have more venom then males.
Prejudice: It is a common myth that Nagas can turn people to stone with their gaze, no documented naga has ever been able to perform such an ability. Some people think that nagas have properties like a hydra due to their regeneration process, however nagas can only regenerate their limbs and tail, stab wounds and other scars recover at the same rate as a normal human, and they cannot re-grow their head, eyes, etc. Many racial prejudices such as all nagas are savages, dimwitted, or untrustworthy are common amongst other societies.
Culture: Nagas stylize in a similar fashion to Aztecs or Mayans, with stone temples, pyramids, and armor of stone make with the same style. In their native lands, naga tribes are matriarchal, females make up most of the high ranking social statuses while males make up the bulk of their military. Usually however some males are assigned positions such as chief general and there has been one recorded instance of a tribe of nagas lead under a king instead of a queen.
Nagas often have shamans, usually female, which outsiders have nicknamed voodoo. Most of the 'voodoo' in reality, is as effective as snake oil, however some nagas have the ability to shape shift to a human appearance or hypnotize unsuspecting victims, which they claim is apart of their magic. However most shamans do not actually have any sort of real magical or mystical qualities and their performances act more as a morale booster and fool others of actual magic. Males are often prideful warriors who have the mindset of survival of the fittest, males that cannot keep up or survive the brutal training periods or challenges of battle and nature are deemed unfit for their weakness and casted out as exiles. Males that are under average in strength or size are also casted out. Nagas worship dragons as their god, with different tribes revering different names for their dragon gods. While they acknowledge the existence of the other dragon gods from the other tribes any dragon god that isnt worshipped by their tribe is deemed as a demon. And due to this the island of Sarkhany is a torn battle ground of the tribes. Each dragon god represents an aspect of life, element of nature, concept or philosophy, or an afterlife. The dragon gods a tribe has selected will represent a combination of what they idolize. For example, a tribe to worship gods of fire, death, and metal are ones that value battle and destruction of others. Many tribes gods overlap, and can lead to less violent interactions. If both tribes worship the exact same gods they will often merge into a new tribe. Most of the gods are a work of fiction, though a few have been fabricated from rare occurrence, the god of fire was made when the tribe was terrorized by a volcanic eruption (note that while lava doesn't burn them, they tend to drown in it like getting trapped in hot tar.),a god of death was named after a real black dragon that terrorized there cities, etc etc. It is unlikely that any of the dragon gods are actual gods.
Additional: Nagas are cold blooded and cannot survive in weather that is below room temperature. The chest of nagas have the weakest scales making them a vital weak spot.
Scale color can vary in shades of blue, red, black, green, and brown. Rare albino nagas have pure white scales. Some color variations may include stripes, spots, and other patterns.
Nagas have a keen eyesight and they smell with their tongue in the same fashion as snakes and lizards. Nagas are excellent swimmers and enjoy water, females have been mistaken for sea serpents.
The eyes of a naga resemble a crocodile's or a snake's.
Nagas often prefer a mixed diet of meat and fruit.
If approved I will make a faction for them.
