Here's my character submission, let me know if I need to change anything.

Name: Alvis Bernhard
Age: 17
Gender: Male

Personality: Alvis is always looking for something new. He loves to make friends along the way, but if you rub him the wrong way he can hold a grudge. He's easily excited, but also has quite a temper if you can rouse it out of him. He's competitive and hates to lose, but is always looking for a chance to improve himself.

Race: Human

Bio: Alvis's family was completely average in every sense of the word. He grew up in a stifling, boring city in the United States of Saherta. But from a young age, Alvis wanted to wander, to explore, and to experience all there was that life had to offer. At first his parents tried to hold him back, to shelter him from the dangers of the world. But he continued to insist until they gave in to his adventurous nature. When Alvis learned about Hunters, he immediately decided to pursue the career. His parents made him a deal--they would let him try taking the Hunter's Exam if he could prove to them he was ready for it. It took several years of intense training, but finally Alvis forced his parents to acknowledge that he was as ready as he could be. He set off to find the location of the Hunter's Exam the year he turned 17. His goal as a Hunter would be to travel the world and explore unknown lands, and preserve wildlife and nature.

Skills/Proficiencies:
Shingen-Ryu Kung Fu - As part of his training for the Hunter's Exam, Alvis enrolled in a martial arts dojo near his home. However, he's only been trained in the physical arts--he still knows nothing about Nen, only a meditation technique that he thinks is solely to focus one's mind.

Athleticism - For several years now Alvis has maintained a grueling and ever-increasing exercise regimen that ranges from one handed pullups to free running, and his physical attributes are well above-average.

Survival Training - As much for his love of the outdoors as for his training, Alvis has read about and practiced a number of survival techniques, and can reliably live by himself for a limited amount of time in various environments with only a few tools and resources.

Quirks:
Likes - Most kinds of food, rock climbing, ocean sunsets, starry skies, working up a sweat
Dislikes - Anything with a strong sour or bitter taste, the colors gray and white, crowded places, pollution.

So about how many players will we need before the RP can start? And if we're starting with the Hunter's Exam, will characters need to find their way there first, or will it be assumed we've already done that and start at the gathering of all the contestants?

Is this still up and running? I'd love to get involved in something lax and lowkey for once.

I'd also like to know if this is still up and running? I finished the show and would love an rp centered around the HxH universe.

Name: Akito Kagawa
Age: 17
Gender: Male

Personality: Akito is a happy go lucky kind of person most of the time. He can hold a grudge, but isn't the type to go out of his way to hate someone. He's loyal to his friends and family. He gets bored easily sometimes making it hard to stay on task. He loves to play games and is always looking for a new adventure. Although at times he can be quite lazy.

Race: Human

Bio: Akito's family was a busy one. His father was always working to put food on the table, while his mother took care of his two younger brothers. As the oldest of three tried to help around the house where needed, but the little house was cramped and didn't have much in the way of entertainment. He often found himself exploring the forest on the outskirts of his village. Always on the search for something new and exciting. One day on his way home after practicing with his bo staff that he carved out of wood using a small knife that his father had given him years ago. He overheard a few villagers talking about hunters. He was curious and asked as many questions as he could discovering that if he became a hunter he'd be able to make enough money to help his family out of poverty while having fun along the way. After two years of training in the forest he was ready to take the hunter exam. His parents weren't thrilled, but knew they couldn't change his mind, they waved goodbye as he set off on his journey.

Skills/Proficiencies: Weapons: bo staff
Pocket Knife
Martial arts: Akito has had no formal training on the use of his bo staff or hand to hand combat. Everything he knows has been from teaching himself and learning with time. He understand the basics when it comes to handling his bo staff, but is a novice when it comes to fighting with it.

Survival ability: after years of exploring the forest and occasionally getting lost he has developed a basic understanding of how to survive on his own and what to do if he ever gets lost or hurt in the woods.

Quirks:
Likes: Exploring, joking around, taking naps, finding new ways to entertain himself.
Dislikes: Sitting down for too long, losing, being alone, breaking the law.
