Garrett is going to be incredibly hard to break of his superstition. He TOLERATES Marianne because he feels bad that he immediately assumed that she was a less than savory person. everyone else. Not so much; other than maybe Sult since healing magic is basically the only thing that is okay where he is from and even then its sort of a "only in dire need" sort of thing. His people have a nasty history with death magic and magic users who extract a steep price for their magic. That and its a cop out in his eyes. If you can't do it with your own arms then you are basically cheating and accomplishing something with magic has less worth.
