Here's the thing. Lets say an average person is 10. An average imperium soldier with a combat tome is 100. If a dozen civies fearlessly threw themselves at him with weapons raised, they'd probably win, but not before a fair number were killed. A general is something like 10,000, no non-ridiculous amount of soldiers or civilians are ever going to be able to even approach someone like Titania if she's allowed to fire. A Knight of Ragnarock or other "base" legend is something like 30,000-100,000, able to take out generals pretty easily, but not ignore them, as a surprise attack might deal some good damage. Who knows what Jester or someone on that "super" legend range would be on this scale.

I believe me, Axon, Chen pre-Relic, Alex, (and Jessi Fei pre-arena arc) are all playing around in the 300-500 range, where we're probably able to beat a normal soldier or two pretty stylin, we're slightly heroic and larger than life, but we're still normal people more or less, who have to use our powers creatively to succeed. But we're literally pointless in any combat involving Generals or Legends. And there's one in every party, except Alex's.

Has no one ever heard of Boss Battle, IE a conflict where you face and defeat an adversary many times more powerful than you through preparation, wit, and whatever might you can marshal? We are not comparing Cowboy Bebop and DBZ, primarily because everyone present in the Shattering verse gets their power from a similar source, their Tome. This isn't guns vs. gods, but people with various abilities and experience with those abilities, with the Relics thrown in for variety as 'Bosses'.

And in regards to self-deprecation of your Sun Wukong-esq character, you are horrendously underselling a character that already trumped Titania by catching her bullet in her teeth. Doesn't really fit the 300 vs. 10,000 power level scheme you are projecting upon this.

It does, seeing that Monkey can't actually do that, and was indeed bluffing, as hinted in the post. She just grabbed a bullet that had lodged in a tree and pretended. She was trying to use aforementioned preparation and wit to gain an upper hand by psyching out the opponent.

It was established Monkey's Staff in full sized hardened defense mode and full power stone skin would not be enough to prevent her from instantly dying if Titania started firing on her. Part of the reason I was so whiny after the insta-surrender.

Fei's pretend kidnapping, attempted bluff by Gecko, Axon trying to talk things down peacefully, etc; and that is just three attempts in one scene. We're not being mean. We're addressing an issue since apparently this has become an issue now. Fei's kidnapping has to take account of the characters involved in the scene. Lorelai, Solanne, and Jessi would not have acted OOC just for the sake of allowing her plan to go through, hence why they acted to stop it as well as seeing through it because that's them staying true to character in the IC.

I don't see an issue with the bluff by Gecko. It was a bluff and obviously it worked IC since Titania didn't shoot Monkey's head off. The only thing here that was a problem was Axon and that was admittedly our fault as the GMs for wanting to move on the forest scene as opposed to letting it drag on.

I don't necessarily think it's a problem. I mean, Monkey's transformation power is amazingly flexible for the infiltration mission she's about to go on. Sure, she's not able to contribute in a match with any of the heavy combat hitters, but she's also very well equipped to never get into a combat with said heavy hitters. She's still got cards up her sleeve, even if fighting isn't one of those.

I only jumped into the "power levels" discussion to agree with Frozen, that yeah, there are some people that barring Deus Ex Machina power up/down, there's really no amount of cleverness or tactics that can make the low tier characters win against the high tier characters. Axon's going to have to rely on knowledge, connections, stealth, and poison. Monkey has to rely on flagrant abuse of "transform anything into anything". Titania's our combat character for Team OASOT.

Speaking of Titania, it's her post in the OASOT lineup, unless you want to pass back to Axon.

I agree with Gecko, the only problem is the one you make. Also I'm not generalization all of you guys or even your whole posts. It's the little bits.

My last bit before I'm truly done...

I'm not talking about Solanne, Lorelai, and Jessi, but the Jester who brought all that about and used his God power to make the wit and cunning plan fall apart just because it looked like he was gonna hurt her. Similarly for Monkey... if her reward for her quick thinking was that she got to keep her life... What would have happened if she didn't think that? Would Monkey be dead right now?

Finally, I just wanted to let you guys know that you haven't looked to see our side yet. You've just been telling us how, why, and what we are doing wrong with quiet a few times I can poke a hole in it.

You're thinking a bit too far into this. Maybe it was because you joined the RP at the end of an arc, but the Jester's deal with Fei was established a long time ago IC and so wasn't as random as you think. Second, the result of Monkey's decision wouldn't have changed drastically because it's not like we would have outright killed her. That would require killing a PC and that's not our intention.

Furthermore, I disagree with us not seeing your side. We're seeing your side of the matter right now by answering your concerns. As for you "poking holes" in our logic, that's a bit pretentious of you to say when we've easily answered your requests even now.
