Name: Ciryn Val, the Duelist

Age: 20

Allegiance: ASGARD

History (Optional): Ciryn is little more than a young knight of the Imperium trying to fill the shoes of his father, a figure whose virtue and renown proved integral for shaping the man that Cyrin is fast becoming.

Personality: Honesty is Ciryn's defining characteristic, and he has never shied away from telling the truth regardless of the consequences. He is still young and, perhaps, a little naive. He likes to believe that there is good to be found in all people, and that his sight will find it. Even when his life is in danger, he is reluctant to use lethal force in subduing opponents. In relationships with others, he is trusting and loyal, leading some to think of him like a puppy. However, those who think they can take advantage of him quickly discover he can spot their ill intent, and once you've broken his trust it is a very difficult thing to acquire again.

Tome: Ciryn's tome takes the form of a pair of blue-tinted, half-moon spectacles. They give him the abilities associated with the Greater Power known as True Sight.
  • Truth of Motion: Ciryn can see the veracity of intent behind an action. This has several uses, for example when dueling this means he can spot a feint, but it is not all powerful, and it does not mean he can see his enemy's next move.
  • Truth of Emotion: Ciryn can see the aura of emotions that surround a person, but when someone is conflicted it is difficult to read which will most influence their actions.
  • Truth of Diction: Ciryn can see the veracity of speech, but this is guided by what the speaker believes is true and can be confounded by clever syntax.

Other: When he is practicing his swordsmanship, he doesn't wear his tome. Truth of Motion lowers his guard, and he does not wish to rely on it in a fight.

Lorus Val, Ciryn's Father.

Cecilia Mariani

Age: 31
History: Cecilia was born into an acting troupe family; a gaggle of performers that traveled the Imperium to put on shows for a variety of clients. While they originally performed in the streets for the commoners, their trade caught the admiration of both the wealthy and the poor. Soon, nobles and political bigwigs contracted them to play at private gatherings, earning them renown in the upper echelons of society. Cecilia’s troupe was well-respected throughout the Imperium, and it was eventually realized that the skills of actors could be used to its political advantage.

Representatives of the Observation Division frequently scouted for recruits in similar professions. Stage performers, actors, acrobats – they were nimble, familiar with costumes and disguise, and likely had contacts in the Imperium's 'underground' that could be exploited. Cecilia was among the number recruited by the Observation Division, following her coming of age. Years of military service prepared her for duty in the Observation Division, where she could best put her talents to use. Grueling training turned her into more than a simple soldier; she underwent selection processes that pushed her body and mind to their limits. She was tested for her ability to keep state secrets under extreme duress, to survive behind enemy lines and endure the harshest conditions. She was trained in the art of espionage; how to spy, how to interrogate, how to deceive.

Cecilia performed admirably, becoming an officer in a matter of years after her initial training. She was assigned a position serving directly under the Platinum Knight, joining the division's high command in the search and capture of the “Librarian.”

Cecilia maintains contact with a vast network of spies that dot the Imperium. From these messengers, she receives information regarding the resistance and keeps watch for potential uprisings. Information regarding the so-called “Librarian” has been notoriously elusive, but Cecilia is keen on hounding this individual down for the good of the state.

Personality: Cecilia is a cunning intelligence officer of the Imperium, serving under the direct command of the Platinum Knight. A shrewd and acute thinker, Cecilia is adept at disguise and espionage thanks to a background in theater. She is strict and professional in her dealings with subordinates, expecting the best and tolerating very few mishaps.

Her service has instilled her with a firm loyalty to the Imperium and the Imperator, and is prepared to do everything within her power to ensure its well-being and root out its enemies. Cecilia is notoriously vigilant in her duties, keeping a close eye both within and outside the state. Domestic threats are just as deadly, and no one, save for the Imperator and her knights, is truly beyond her suspicion.

Tome: Cecilia's tome, and badge of office, is a silver ring inlaid with white stones. While wearing the tome, Cecilia's senses are immune to illusory effects, and can discern between lies and truth. Effectively, she is able tell the innocent from the guilty and pursue them without hindrance from magical deception that might otherwise impede investigation.
In combat, the tome gives Cecilia an uncanny sense of perception, allowing her to predict and react to foes before they have a proper chance to retaliate. Practically, this allows her to pull off arrests without a hitch.

Other: Cecilia has a fearsome reputation within the capital, as many believe she is ruthless in her investigations. It is rumored she is just as likely to prosecute Imperium citizens as she is rebels, and no one escapes her notice. Nobles and commoners alike are careful of their words and mannerisms when she is near, afraid to draw even the slightest provocation.

Appearance:

Name: Alex Kincaid
Age: 21
Allegiance: Neutral
History (Optional): Alex was born to a low income family, one of several siblings. Living like that, he always dreamed of getting ahead, rising above where he was to a better place as many youth might do. Yet while his siblings went on to respectable industries and jobs, his own rebellious streak caused him to fall into a life of crime. He hung out with the wrong sort of people, joined a gang, and in the course of that he met Derek Carrena.

Derek trained him, gave him the tools of the trade that he would need. Alex grew away from his family. He began stealing, small items at first, but rapidly growing. It began to become something of a draw, and he enjoyed the thrill and the challenge of it. This eventually resulted in him stealing a tome, which he soon realized and began to experiment with.

Over time though he and Derek grew apart, until one day Derek was caught. Alex carried on, his dreams carrying him higher. He knew what he would do now, and he would accomplish it. So he came to the Academy, to learn how to use his tome, and then to effect a daring heist, right under the nose off the Imperium! Such a thing would secure his place in the public consciousness, and his place and history. So now he bides his time, as he waits for the right opportunity to strike.

Personality: Beneath the indifferent exterior, Alex sports a keen intelligence, honed by years of his current occupation. He is always on the look out for number one, though he is able to set such concerns aside in the short term. When on the job he tends to be something of a showboat, falling into the vein of those 'master thieves' as he likes to imagine it. A romantic notion, to be sure, but he does his best to live it out. It need not be said that he has no regrets over stealing, though he does have standards that he likes to hold himself to. Averse to fighting, but he'll do it if he has to.

Tome (Color and Abilities): The tome he has is green, bound in corners of leather and fabric, set in diagonals with a background of green beyond that. the pages are thin, but surprisingly sturdy and tough. Upon activation it shapes into dual escrima sticks, green and inlaid with runes and patterns. When activated, it gives him the ability to create solid air, allowing him to shape it into different forms, for use as a weapon or a tool. The farther away it is from him, the harder it is to maintain, and the larger it is, the harder it is to manipulate.
Other: Gentleman Thief is a go!

His clothes consist of a cotton coat with some dark green tinted leather embedding, loose white cottons pants and a pair of black leather boots. Both hands are also covered by matching black leather gloves that reach his elbows for protection; nothing more than that, he dresses quite simply.

Name:
Regis Breyn

Age:
Seventeen

Allegiance:
Neutral

History:
This'll be updated soon enough. But basically; a student with a cute green book finding his place in life.

Personality:
All around friendly and with a nearly unnatural desire to help others, Regis' persona is a harsh contrast to how things are recently. The young man seems to appreciate company and friendship above basically everything else, and never limits himself to that. He's the type of person who wouldn't think twice before putting himself in trouble, if it meant preserving someone - or in worst case scenarios, he wouldn't even consider his own life in order to save another. This became more of a reality when he obtained his first tome from the Imperium.

From a deeper view, the truth is that Regis feels quite troubled about himself. He's unsure of his own future, past and present and thus, this whole confusion regarding himself as an individual led him to hopeless attempts of finding pillars in other people, support them so they'll support him. While he keeps this mostly to himself, he's not one to hide his feelings or emotions - or even his disappointment, frustration or dislike towards something or someone. He might be extremely friendly, but if theres something that makes him quite angered, that'd be negative emotions present in others such as; greediness, cruelty and etc.

Tome:
The Tender Tome is a light green book, often tied to Regis' waist. When materialized, it takes the form of a gourd that sits on his back. This gourd is filled with a green water-like liquid that Regis' can freely control - it's also endless, given how no matter how much comes out of it, it never stops. Offensively, this has little to no use but whenever the water comes in contact with a wound, it accelerates the healing process drastically, nearly instantly healing small cuts and bruises, while taking a few minutes to heal deeper and more severe wounds.

In addition, if Regis allows someone to drink it, they're temporarily empowered. The effects increase whoever drank the water physical condition, granting them stamina, strength and speed - but only for a limited time. Unfortunately, once the effects cease, it will stop working until the liquid is completely removed from one's body, which might take a few hours at least.

Other:
Always wearing a necklace with a silver chain and a golden dagger hanging from it.

Fei

Appearance:

Age: 18

Allegiance: Imperium

History (Optional):

Born from one of the most esteemed and powerful women in the Imperium, Fei grew up with expectations few her age had. She embraced the responsibility with pride though and spent all of her energy becoming stronger. Due to her mother’s tight schedule, there was little time to take care of a small child, so Fei was shipped to one of the best boarding schools in Infinitum where she continued her training. Eleonor still makes sure to make the occasional visit to her daughter though.

Ever since she was little, Fei admired her mother. It’s what motivates her during training with the school, the reason she fights harder than most. She wants her mother to be proud to call Fei her daughter, wants to be worthy of such a title. As the years have passed, Fei has become so warped in idolizing her mother, she’s lost sight of herself.

Fei is currently attending her last year of the Academy. Not a student on campus isn’t aware of her, whether it be her famous heritage or the fact that she can pummel most students to the ground. Thanks to her extensive training from a young age, she’s at the top of the heap at school and isn’t afraid to let anyone know. Focusing on dark red double swords, Fei has made it a priority to study both magic and weaponry. If you can’t find her researching her Tome, you’ll find her sword fighting.

Personality:

Snobby and Uptight, Fei spends more time arguing with others than she does making friends. Blame it on her heritage, but Fei’s grown up thinking she’s better than other children her age and because of this, has made few friends in her life. However, when she does commit herself to a relationship, she loves fiercely, often coming across as overprotective, and is extremely clingy.

Since Fei spends most of her time alone, whether it be training or studying, she’s grown independent and doesn’t mind being by herself. There are few who commit themselves to training as much as Fei does, something that has paid off incredibly. While Fei might be a complete brat, no one can deny her hard work.

Tome (Color and Abilities):

Fei’s Tome is a miniature, red, wooden box that is connected to a long silver chain, usually tied around her neck. Unlike the picture, the box is locked and glows red whenever she uses her magic.

The main function of Fei’s Tome is the ability to absorb heat and fire properties and channel them against her enemies. For example, if Fei finds a fire source and touches it, she is able to let fire consume her entire body and unleash it. Should she come in contact with heat, she is able to absorb that to produce heat in a certain area or on a certain object. Fei is able to store both energies but it will eventually run out either after she uses it or in about a week’s time.

Fei’s Tome also enables her to control people’s emotions and cause them to grow angsty and upset. One with a strong and persistent mind is able to withstand this, only if they are aware of when Fei is doing it.

Other:

Fia has two fighting swords, both identical to each other that she uses during battle.

Zora Irving

Age:
17

Allegiance:
Neutral

History (Optional):
Living off nature and all that jazz. Where are her parents? Nobody knows.

Personality:
Zora is hardworking and curious. There are times where she pushes herself too far and needs to be reminded to take a break. She is fairly harsh when it comes to training and learning. When Zora has a task to do, she'll see it through to the end. While she finds it difficult to relate to other humans, she tries her best to get along with them. On the other hand, Zora feels more at ease with the animals, and tends to feel more of an emotional bond with animals than she does with humans. When she makes friends, she has a tendency to tease them in a very friendly manner. Zora loves being in nature, separated from all man made structures. She is most comfortable here and tends to be very gentle and kind in this environment. She is looked up to by many of her fellow classmates at the academy, however she’s very insecure and self conscious around others. She comes off as humble to most, when it’s actually a sense of self deprecation driving her words. Zora believes that when placed among the beauty and grace that is nature, she cannot compare, though she does try.

Tome (Color and Abilities):
Zora’s Tome takes the form of a intricate wooden bow with a few green ribbons of silk wrapped around the ends. When she draws the string back, a brown arrow that is seemingly made out of light appears notched in the bow.

A part of Zora’s abilities is to have an empathic link with animals. The can communicate with them, but has no control over them. Every animal has it’s own free will to accept her requests or not. Therefore she makes it a point to get on good terms with the animals surrounding wherever she may be.

The second part of Zora’s abilities is rarely used, and for a very valid reason too. She can transform parts of her body to have similar traits to animals which can improve a function, such as claws, fangs, or ears. However, once she is done with it, Zora must remove the part from her body. If she had claws, she’d have to cut off her fingers, with fang’s she’d have to rip them out, and with ears, cut them off. Because of her low pain tolerance, she usually ends up passing out for about a full day. While she is out, her body regenerates the natural state of the body part. Once she wakes up, the body part is fully regenerated. Usually the smaller the body part the less time Zora is passed out/regenerating. If she does not within 12 hours, then the particular transformation begins to cause pain to her. Over a course of 24 hours, the pain continues and usually a headache develops. During these hours, the transformation rots off until it disappears. It then takes the time to regenerate which varies depending on the size.

The Watchman

Name:
"OH! You bothered asking? Instead just going off that horrid nickname everyone gives me? What was it... Oh yes, 'The Watchman'? Terrible name indeed! No, my real name is-"
Age:
No one has ever figured out his age...
"I'm 42 years and counting good sir!"
Oh... well then... way to ruin the mystery!
Allegiance
Neutral, but more likely to help clients of the Imperium than of any fringe faction unless offered serious compensation.
History:
"Ahh my past eh? Well of course I can tell you! You see, it all started in a little tow-"
Too boring, moving on.
Personality:
The Watchman is a man shrouded in mystery and coldness. His masked figure only shows how reclusive this silent man really is.
"For god sake man! What is wrong with you!? I am a gentleman of course, considering mannerism and posture to be of the utmost importance! Particularly those of great respect! Now, I do consider myself to be friendly individual, as it this friendliness is what allows me to succeed in my, ahem*, business. On a deeper note, rationality, thoughtfulness, and the pondering of meaningful questions of our universe occupy me. I will never be rash man, jumping into the pit of danger with not a care in the world! Cautiously, I would plan out and analyze my situation, allowing me to proceed with the utmost precision and efficiency!"
Uh huh... want to mention that you're also a successful hitman?
'Err, excuse me!? WHAT LIES! WHAT UTTER-"
We're done here....

Appearance:

Name: Syn Kor

Age: 27

Allegiance: Librarian

History: Syn's personal history is for her to know. What others would know however, is her skills: A well practiced Tome user, and more importantly an Tome Scribe. She is capable of creating Tomes for others, and has spent much of her life researching new ways to use and improve tomes. Syn isn't just limited to tomes, and has skills in various crafts. Herbalism, Armoring, Engineering, while she isn't a master she is certainly a tinkerer.

Currently, Syn is a professor at the Academy, her alliance with the Librarian a close secret. She serves mainly as a recruiter for the Librarian by convincing youths of the Librarian's ideals, though she also dabbles in spying and wet work. She also manufactures and produces equipment for those aligned with the Librarian, often through black market deals.

Personality: Syn can be a boisterous woman to deal with. Some may even call her barbaric. Ultimately Syn does what she pleases, which can be anything from anonymous charity to wonton violence. To her friends she's a generous person but often intrusive and coddling. To her enemies she's annoying and a menace. Syn has a code of honor, but at the same time loose morals. Keep your wits about you when you're around her, because Syn might not.

Tome: Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, "Demon Summoner"

A dark green tome with black pages, the Daemonum is effectively a tome of summoning. Each page contains a demon with a unique ability, some as simple as being big and strong, others who are actually multiple demons, and some with their own magical powers. Syn has yet to discover all of these demons, though she suspects that there are at least 50 or more. These demons, while not invincible, or functionally immortal: Killing them simply banishes them back to the world where they came, and Syn can summon them again after they have healed their wounds. She currently can only summon one type of demon at a time (With certain exceptions), though she suspects that she could summon multiple demons as she grows stronger.

Additionally, Syn can transform her Tome into a staff, which she often does for the sake of convenience. She can make the staff change it's size and length, from a giant pole to a small rod.

Other: Aside from her duties as a teacher and secret job as an agent of the Librarian, Syn owns a workshop where she and her students may practice magic or craft items. Syn herself has commissioned work for the Imperium before and is in decent standing, though she isn't a major provider.

Name: Chen Chideta

Age: 22

Allegiance: The Librarian

Personality: Chen is arrogant, cynical, and judgemental. That's what one would say when first meeting him anyways. What he really is, is way too logical. Emotion doesn't come easily for him, he instead judges all situations off of pure logic and what's better for him or the situation. He doesn't understand emotion well either, leaving him confused in complex social situations. He's very awkward in conversation, sometimes just walking away in the middle of a sentence because he thinks he has something better to do. Because of this behavior he doesn't have many friends, which bothers him occasionally. In the end, he does what he believes to be good and righteous. Statistically speaking.

Name: Victoria Elizabeth Andrews

Age: 23

Allegiance: Imperium: Judicial Branch

History: Victoria was born to a merchant family that always moved from town to town chasing profitable markets, The family basically lived out of a large wagon and slept along the sides of the road. Victoria learned from an early age not to get attached to things as they would never stay around long. The family would never stay in a single town long and everything was for sale for the right price. She was a only child so the only constant companionship she had were her mother and father. It goes without saying, Victoria did her part in helping the family business.

When Victoria entered her early teens, her parents surprised her. While on a rare trip to the Capital city of Infinitum, her parents enrolled her in a boarding school. They had saved enough money on their travels to ensure she could get a formal education. With a parting blessing, her parents left her. Their last words were for her to find a path in life that was better than theirs. Victoria never saw her parents again. Sadly they were killed some time later when they had been caught by bandits near the desert of Exilia and were killed. She visits their roadside grave whenever she makes it out that way.

Victoria took to her studies after her parents left her. It took some adjusting to staying in one place, but eventually she became a shining star. She excelled at the physical sports and use of tomes. Actual book smarts were more troublesome though. Eventually, she found that formal classes where her undoing. Forsaking her teacher's lectures, she would use class to study and learn the material herself. She would sit in the back of class and just read by herself. The teachers would get on her for not participating, but they could not fault her on her knowledge of the subject at hand.

Upon graduating the academy, Victoria turned not to the merchant profession of her parents nor the pursuit of further knowledge. She turned to the Imperium. Some of she friends thought she was crazy but she enlisted with the Judicial branch. She needed the structure of the division. She craved work that would be fulfilling. She wanted to look back at the end of the day and see she made a difference, a real difference, and a lasting distance. This branch more than any other could help her achieve her desire.

Personality: Victoria is a quiet soul who can be easily found skirting around the edges of a crowd. While she is fully able to be the life of a party, she elects to be stand offish. It helps her observe. She tries her best to be an observer and on the outside looking in. This way her emotions do not get the best of her. People often see her as cold, unfeeling, and often robotic. This is actually how she likes it because She is passionate, hard working, and caring. She has an overwhelming sense of duty, honor, and believes in justice for all.

Victoria is passionate when it comes to order and structure. Law most apply to all, or they have no value. She will uphold the law for only then can the common man and lowers begger have justice. She however is... efficient, when it comes to correcting a break in the law or dealing with lawbreakers. Some have called her combat skills brutal. Some have called it savage. Some say cruel. However, she gets the job down and her superiors have come to rely on her skills. She may be cruel, brutal, savage and other things when dealing with criminals, but she does have mercy. She have never been in a situation where she has used excessive or disproportional force.

Tome (Color and Abilities):
Victoria's tome manifests as a black locket. She were in on a silver chain around her neck. The outside of the locket is etched the sun on one side and the crescent moon on the other side. On the inside there is nothing. No pictures of family, friends, nor loved ones.

Despite the appearance of her tome, it actually has little to do with sun or moon. The tome gives Victoria control of the earth beneath her. She can manipulate earth, stone, and even metals that have not been refined as she wills. She can create earthquakes, levitate and hurl boulders, and use it to protect her against attacks. She unfortunately needs to be in contact with the ground in order to control the earth. She cannot manipulate rocks if they are thrown at her nor if can she manipulate some rock that is floating in the air without touching it first.

Other: Victoria holds her ideals above all. Law and order are to be upheld for the sake of being upheld. Virtues exist to be virtuous. That being said, she will not tolerate those who reject such things, especially if they are apart of the Imperium.
