Anyone want to work on some kind of northwest subplot? I'd like to post soon, but my brain's in a bit of a rut.
Anyone want to work on some kind of northwest subplot? I'd like to post soon, but my brain's in a bit of a rut.Northwest is most likely where my Golden Horde is going to be coming from. It seems to be the perfect spot because I interact with elves, dwarves, humans and even more.
@ClocktowerEchosDamn, can you help me which map we use?
There are two different maps and with different allocation of nations in it. I can't really craft a detailed theme for my nation without at least knowing:
- What environment I'll be starting in
- What nations I'll be fighting the foremost
With at least those I can invent the rest.
For now my idea is basically this:
Golden Horde: An emerging empire from distant lands ruled by the iron grip of the Uruk (black orcs). They are mongol-like formerly nomadic nation which is now infamous for their raids and conquest. Their territory is less united and more like a collection of small countries united by their subservience to the Uruk Empire. Humans, elves, dwarves and more exotic races alike fight along with the Uruk and form the dreaded Golden Horde. As such their equipment varies though the army as a whole has a near-religious preference to gunpowder. Your average Uruk warrior is a gun-wielding warg-riding agile cavalry, often seen in raids.
My issue with the Golden Horde is the fact that it is mixed races lead by notOrks. You are going to have to give me a very damn well impressive backstory and reason as to why anyone would want to be remotely near notOrks much less fight with them. It goes without saying that in this setting Dwarves aren't too keen on Orruks and their related cousins, Elves would be too arrogant or simply don't trust them and most humans would just be to afraid to be near them when the notOrks are hungry and have a weapon in hand. Also, notOrks aren't exactly known for excellent gunsmithing skills for anything other than a giant crude shotgun in my mind.roleplayerguild.com/topics/93983-fabul..
In short, this idea has about a 90% of just not being allowed with the remaining 10% open in the case you do want to try and write something impressive up to change my mind.
<Snipped quote by Willy Vereb>BTW, what each colors mean? at least with the other map it had a name palte for each territory owned.
The one in the OP is the current map, it should be sorta like an island.

It's been already done.
I don't say all races are perfectly content with their status within the alliance but your description of any of them is terribly stereotypical, narrow-minded and well... racist (literally).
Aristo already had a rambling about not liking when races are treated as if they can be one type and nothing else.
@ClocktowerEchos The map in the OP is outdated, because it doesn't include my claim nor the claims of some of the other people. The one on my CS and the one I posted above includes all of the claims that were put on the map (I'm pretty sure).

I would preferably want to be neighbors with a mainline human nation and preferably a number of others for sources of conflict.
Given how small patch of land is left, I'll just prefer to leave the Uruks before they formed their full Silk Road style culture.
So there'd be less helpers. Probably nomads and sand people ("barbarians") and dwarves found at the mountains who would like to hit up a good trade.
Anyways, I think the main source of confusion is probably that you judge them on what Greenskins in WHFB are.
These orcs are less of that crazy bunch and if I can say closer to Elder Scrolls interpretation of Orcs.
I am actually considering to make them a different race altogether.
As for the ES Orcs, that might be an interesting thing to see "civilized" Orcs go up against savage Orruks.I can't wait that to happen, either.
