I'll try to get Hank up by Friday assuming inspiration can be forced. As for the OU-- I'm already in Maximum so I don't know if it'd be a good idea to do two of the same things. Just like Morden said, over-saturation applies to the RP market too and can spread us thin especially when we are adults with full responsibilities.

My suggestion is if you do a OU-- make it different so its just not another generic retelling of the universe, use a elseworlds story as a base (noir, watchmen-style cynicism, what if scenarios, etc) or a theme/tone (golden age, etc.) alternatively.

1) Rebrand: Over the last year or so, I have been throwing recruitment interest threads that have been meager at best in gathering new players. I think the only one that was really sucessful was the one that I recruited most of you from. So, would trying to "rebrand" (i.e. name-change) the game help out with recruitment?

2) Switch over to High-Casual: Do you all think it would be worthwhile to start the reboot (again, if that is the road we choose) to place the thread in the casual forum in order to maximize potential players?

3) I think this third option is the least effective out of the three, but I wanted to ask it anyways. These types of games (Create-A-Hero RPG, All-Star Marvel, Ultimate DC, One Universe/Maximum Comics) were all born on the SuperHeroHype forums. Today, that section is all but dead beyond the occasional attempt to try to recreate one of the above threads. When there are two games (especially when they are roughly the same) are being run on both RPG and SuperHeroHype, it kind of splits the potential players in half. While I know that many of the players that dwell in that subforum are also members here, do you all think it is worthwhile to make a mention over there just so that we can make sure the audience is not split over two games on two forums?

Lastly, we better make a decision about rebooting or not because the Create-A-Hero RPG is about ready to begin Season 2.

1.) I'm of a mind rebranding does wonders. I've had games not make it past an iCheck that after getting a new title a couple months later actually picked up more interest. However I'd still stick to something Marvel universe titled, so that it's clear its a broad universe with stories branching every direction. I also think 'Season 2' 'Year 2' etc should be dropped, cause to new potential players sometimes they believe they have to know everything that's come before even if other players and the GM tell them otherwise. It's less intimidating.

2.) High Casual and just being in the Casual forum alone would make a huge difference with potential new recruits. On a good day I've seen the Advanced Interest Checks forum maybe have 10-12 people viewing it. On a good day for Casual that number is usually doubled or tripled.

3.) I've never been on the SuperHeroHype forums. My RP experience started on a creator website [GeoffJohns.com] back around '01 or '02, mostly because FanFic wasn't allowed to be posted in the forums but roleplays could be. Geoff was only writing Flash and JSA at the time, so the site wasn't as bogged down with haters or GJ worshippers, but eventually I took my Green Lantern fandom to some GL forums owned by another poster on the GJ site and did a few GLC games there after doing other JLA RPs on a forum me and another guy started up [KryptonProtocols].

In short, this place has PLENTY of new blood. I wouldn't worry about another similar RP on another board only a fraction of us even know about.

Another suggestion, since you mentioned the sliding timeline, can we just move it up to more of a present day kinda scenario? It may be cause I'm getting old but it's just easier to write something modern without having to go back and google what songs were hot in 2012, who the biggest movie stars were, etc.

Just my .02 cents.

I can agree the setting in 2012 was really pointless and made things more complicated.

Also yeah rebranding it just as the same idea of Marvel sandbox RP in casual would help plenty.

I think its more fun and dynamic to write things during historic landmarks then just modern for the sake of modern, actually. I would be way more invested in this possibly if this was set during the turbulent 60s, noir-entrenched 40s, cynical 80s, resurgent 90s, etc.

I'd be fine with that even, making it more of a period piece. The year 2012 though wasn't that important other than presumably being when the first version of this game took place. Making it modern in my head would make it easier for a casual fan to jump into. Also, unless people make major changes to their characters' histories or Ded accepts more originals making it a period piece kinda limits what you can and can't do and that's one more of those intimidating factors you gotta look at when looking for new players.

A simple fresh start. No convoluted backstories or a ton of info, just touch a couple bases and see what people come up with in terms of character sheets. Don't look back, look forward. Maybe mutants weren't discovered till closer to the year 2000 and Prof. X is still up and walking around. Maybe Capt. America wasn't unfrozen until '06 and the first Avengers team could debut around 2010.

Give the universe a nudge in whatever direction @Dedonus, then just see where it takes us.

Eww no... no time based twist. I wouldn't stick around for it and I don't know if many would want too join it either.

Maybe an interesting idea would he have the Battle of New York happen similar to the MCU, Avengers form and all that nice stuff but then say Iron Man doesn't make it back through the wormhole or something, just changing stuff up y'know.

Alright, I'll have an interest check up sometime tomorrow. I'll post a link here (and maybe even pm it to the semi-inactive players if they happen to show up again) so that you all can start rallying some interest. :)

Again I'm a firm believer in the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) rule. Marvel should be the theme to it, not some fancy schemacy extra thing that would only complicate matters.

@DrewVonAwesome I'm not saying add a complicated theme (Like something Noir) but something for us to all base (and new people) the universe around. I feel like part of the reason this didn't work is the scope was too broad, whereas if there's a basis (such as Battle of New York and Iron Man Died, or the Mutant Registration Act) we all have something to work on, that even though people work on individual arcs there's a common thread.

I also feel like starting with the Avengers pre-established would be 10x easier than starting them IC.

I agree starting the Avengers before the RP starts (Could even say its been around for years and has a deep legacy) but I think outside of that there should be allowing those involved to decide if and what the Avengers starts off doing and will go after.

@DrewVonAwesome I'm not saying we should decide a path for the Avengers when the RP starts, but there should be something that everyone can relate to so we aren't all stumbling around blindly.

But what if I LIKE stumbling around blindly?!

No honestly I can agree to that, didn't quite get what you meant.

By the way if I did try to make a concerted effort to redo the Fantastic Four would anyone here be interested? Like I'm willing to allow for some creative liberties and stuff.

@DrewVonAwesome Perhaps, I'm kinda wanting to go with y'know Speedster related stuff...

But yeah I mean having an incident prior to the IC such as the Battle of New York, Mutant Registration, Hulk Rampage, S.H.I.E.L.D coming out of the shadows or just anything like that I think would give people a good thing to build their sheets on, and then the universe.
