Whoa there cowboys, I go to sleep and this happened. I'm not one to butt into matters, I'm more of an observing guy, but I felt to need to give my two cents upon the matter as it has become something as dire as even the GM feeling discouraged and even someone leaving the RP.
As January, banjoanjo and others said, we joined the RP to have fun, and we'll stick to it no matter what. This RP has so far been so much fun that I wouldn't want to see it shut down because Scio feels overwhelmed by negative feedback and incessant need of explaining a fictional version of our world.
I'm not saying criticism is bad, but to those who have actually suggested to change what the GM have explained, I only have to say that in every RP, the GM's word is law in his own RP. He can do whatever he want, the only consequence that would happen are the RPer's reactions towards said action. While I do understand that some of us like to go more in-depth about the nature of the RP and/or the world it consists, you've got to remember that this is a Casual-categorized RP, and I believe the main point of this RP was to have characters interact with each other in a school-like environment (mighty good job so far, I dare say), and confronting together whatver the GM might be throwing at us. I don't think Scio had in mind for us all to go explore the entire world, hell, even leave the school's premises at all during the RP, hence the not-so needed thoughts about world-building the usually more Advanced-ranked RPs have.
But it wouldn't be fair to only criticize those who have openly questioned the mechanics of the RP's world and magic. It has been an issue that I have been observing for quite a while now, and I believe it is time for people to realize this. If some of you people feel disconfort about someone's powers, actions, or post itself, please do not bring this matter into an indirect comment about someone else's post. Be honest and direct. If you don't like it, bring it first into PM to the person you have issues with, then notify the GM about it, so it can be dealt with swiftly and efficiently. The whole arguments about Arthur's introductory posts and Letter Bee's power mechanics (I've got to give kuddos to him to have maintained a cool demeanor and not give in to frustration for being overwhelmed by the negative feedbacks he had been flooded with) could have been avoided if people would've not openly speculated about things they weren't sure of.
I'm sorry if it is a rather long and boring OoC post, but this is some real issues we are having here, and I believe if we try to at least correct those mistakes, then perhaps we can return to a less tense state of discussion. as I said earlier, I love this RP, and I wouldn't want to see it shut down or have people who we enjoyed reading their posts leave because of unadressed and/or unsolved problems.
