Ashenport, a small coastal town that has always been pretty peaceful. Practically zero crime, beyond the resident drunk stirring up trouble here and there. Everyone knows each other, and while there may be a small fired feud here and there, for the most part the townspeople look out for one another. Or so it seems. But beneath the surface, underneath that small town cheer, there’s a dirty secret. A buried secret, long hidden and now soon to be discovered. Not everyone in this little town has their neighbor's back after all.
It wasn’t so long ago that there was a young man, who lost his wife in a car accident. She was hit by a drunk driver, and for the first time in years scandal and misery struck the town of Ashenport. The man who struck her down was charged with manslaughter, served only years in prison and came right back to the town he knew, living in isolation. Now, 15 years later, something is happening to Ashenport.
A thick fog descends. Most of the towns inhabitants are missing or dead. Day and night seem chaotic, shifting at seemingly random intervals. There are strange noises heard in the woods outside Ashenport and something dangerous lurks in the water. Much of the town appears to be run down, abandoned, as if nobody has lived in the buildings for years and yet it was just yesterday that the place was bustling and full of that small town charm.

This roleplay is going to be mature. That means there will be scenes that are not for the squeamish. However, that does not mean all of RPG rules are out the window once you step through this door. Think smart. Be cool. If anyone or myself are uncomfortable with you or your actions you will be warned. If it continues past my warning you will be asked to leave the thread immediately.

Remember that there’s a huge difference between OOC knowledge and IC knowledge; just because you know something, doesn’t mean your character necessarily does! With a setting that will require puzzle solving as well as team effort, OOC chatter might be of the importance when you least expect it.
Absolutely no one liners, that kinda kills (no pun intended) a roleplay. I'm not asking you to write novels upon novels, but this roleplay does require at least a paragraph of writing. I'm not a stickler for spelling or grammar but if we can't understand you- we're going to have some problems. When you have problems with me, you're in for a bad time.
Please respect me and my decisions. If I ask you to change something on your CS or your IC posts, don't take it personal. There's usually a very good reason for it! I'm extremely lenient and nice, just ask me. Roleplaying is supposed to be fun, so let's have fun! Just remember to keep us posted if you're going to be gone awhile and won't be posting or if you've decided your interest has faded. We will be sad to see you go, but at least we can kill you off in a noble way instead of a bad way if you leave without telling us!

Good question!
We are all already residents of the town- Unless you choose the "drunk driver returnee role" Then you will be starting off coming back into town that day- We will probably have one day of normal IC interactions & Then our next time skip of sorts will be everyone being taken from their slumber via whole town getting crazy.

Realistic as in real-life photograph please :) As much as I enjoy digital art, anime, etc. I think photographs fit best for this setting.

Ashenport IS very small. We have towns here with less than 100 people in them- it's just a small coastal town. This is set in current times 2016. "sand" areas are just showing where the town is. It will have all basic roads, sidewalks, etc etc.

Unpopular in school. Only friend is delinquent girl. Delinquent girl occasionally makes him do bad things. One day they wander into the woods. Delinquent girl is killed by a bear or some such. Tom runs away in fear. After high school parents plan for him to take over family business, he helps out for now.
Giant, clawed and hunched over creature. Incredible set of jaws and teeth. Patches of fur are occasionally matted down by a stick red ooze.
Still not 100% sure if I'll be joining, since this would be my first real horror RP. If I do end up joining, I'd be using Tom here though. Wanted to check and see if that backstory outline was good before I write it out fully.

Well then, I'm a little intimidated, with this being my first group RP, and it looks like if I try for Sheriff, I'll be up against Aquaknight, not that it's a fight or anything. Don't know how good my character will be anyways, or what role I'm shooting for...
