It's been 14 years since arrival at the Moon's surface and construction of EDEN began. Currently the outpost stands at 83% self-sufficiency, estimates and efforts to put at 90% by the year's end. Spirits are generally high and cheerful, systems checks continue to point to an all clear. Mission success rate - 65%, no problems of note with systems and controls. Research continues to grow by the day thanks to the combined effort of EDEN's Science Bloc. No known or reported 'accidents' in 60 days. 14 years now and there's no plans for my return to Earth, Hermann and Porter have moved onto other missions there's Mars to be explored, then Jupiter. But I can't forget her, maybe one day I'll go back, maybe I'll see her, maybe I'll die trying. Grahams, signing off.

"Welcome to EDEN. I know not all of you are new to the outpost, some of you have been here from the beginning. This marks a truly triumphant achievement in human history and space exploration, what all of us and the boys and girls back home have worked to achieve. We are on the brink of a new dawn, going forth into the breach of a new era doing what no one and nothing before us has ever done or could hope of doing.

Make no mistake, we are the pioneers and heroes of tomorrow who pave the way for humanity to not only understand the mysteries of our universe but to harness it's potential with our determination and ability. Nearly a hundred years on from our original venture into outer space, we have taken the first step to making ourselves a two-planet species, helping to secure and ensure humanity's survival into the future. I am very proud, of every single one of you.

In the coming months and years, EDEN will continue to grow and expand in an effort to create our true first off-planet colony, operating by our laws, morals and ideals. Keep up the good work and roll safe.
"
-Cmdr. Grahams, EDEN command control.

Current Events

In the underbelly of EDEN, sub-basement level under the docking station Grahams and Musgrave were meeting with a handful of science officers on the team who were going to operate the newest model of the pressurized rover on a moonscape exploration run. The rover was impressive, fairly large and heavy but compensated for by the moon's gravity. It was easily big enough to while maybe not comfortably, house six or seven people for the three days the oxygen supply would last them. The exterior was lightly armored against any chance mini showers of moon rock, far from a severe beat down this piece of machinery was going to be fine.

While a science officer left to find Tommy for his list of recommendations, Musgrave had his own nominee for the mission, and went to the loading bay to find Riker.

Tommy patted down two spacesuits, primed and ready for going 'outside' as they called it on EDEN, making sure that everything was okay. Checking the rigs and mentally marking off protocol checks in his head, the Irishman didn't see the need to use the approved tick lists, a decade of going through the same routine would do that to you. He sighed softly, unzipping the torso of his jumpsuit, tying the arms around his waist and tightening them so they wouldn't come loose.

Taking a few steps over towards the counter his tablet was placed up, he flexed his neck and when coming to a standstill over the counter raised his arms up above his head before pulling his elbow across, down and alternating. Tommy always found there was nothing like a good stretch, especially during the early hours. A glint of light reflecting off the semi-mirrored column to his immediate left grabbed his attention - he couldn't help but notice his wiry build. He'd been bigger a decade ago and it's not like there weren't machines here on EDEN, in fact exercise was not only encouraged but almost enforced if you wanted any hope of keeping up. His navy t-shirt as per uniform with the crew was smeared with two-day old oil stains, he was sure Grahams, Musgrave or even Walker would have something to say about it if they could see him right now. A thin smirk crossed Tommy's face, parting his thin lips ever so slightly - he found the thought amusing and could almost hear their scolding as he thought about it.

Four quick, successive bleeps alerted him that there was something, somewhere that required his attention. Hackett's gaze fell from his distorted reflection to the tablet that lay, screen flashing, whipping off his right glove he took the device in his left hand and tapped the screen bringing up the display and an alert. An electric box responsible for supplying power to some of the medical equipment was going haywire. While it was vital that anything like this got seen to straight away, Tommy knew for a fact there was no one in the medical bay at risk of damage or death currently so took his time to gather himself before making his way to one of the eastern tunnels that would bring him to EDEN's medical deck.

-

On examining the box it appeared to be a slight electrical fault that was easily fixed and prevented in the future, hopefully, by a quick tweak. Tommy made his way down the corridor or tunnel, neon lights overhead keeping everything nicely lit even if it did give an eerie glow at times. EDEN's size and population meant in certain, less used blocs you could walk without bumping into anybody, Tommy used to note how it felt like being in a horror game but now was used to it and found it never really crossed his mind anymore. The temperature was cool, as always regulated by machines in the underbelly of the base which was where Tommy would usually spend the majority of his days. Life off Earth was strange, but like anything you become accustomed to it and for Tommy this was the norm as it was for many others on EDEN, over the last ten years he had been here he found the outpost had become his home and particular members of the crew were now like family. Sure, there was cribbing, arguing and even people you'd outright despise but on both a professional and personal level you'd always be there for each other, ready to spring into action at a moment's notice. Life on EDEN wasn't exactly as Tommy had imagined it would be when he dreamed all those years ago of being an astronaut and living in space but over the last ten years despite ups and downs found his solace and home on the moon. It was crazy to think really, imagining how people on Earth who'd never left the confines of the atmosphere couldn't even begin to imagine what life in the solar system was like. You felt important, needed, appreciated on a level before unknown and the odd time - you felt special.

Tommy traversed the hatch that acted as a partition between the tunnel and the medical deck - they were usually left open if they led to somewhere inside EDEN, the doors were simply too heavy and with the valve locks would take too long to open and shut every time. He took a quick glimpse around the area that acted as a reception but couldn't see anybody around. Pushing through the PVC strip door at the far end of the room Tommy examined the trolleys and medical equipment, everything was pristine hygiene was of utmost importance, especially somewhere like this.
"Erica?" He called out, softly. No matter who was around, it was hard to mistake Tommy for anybody else by voice at least, a decade among multi-nationals away from the Emerald Isles had not caused him to lose his thick, Dublin accent.

He glanced around, he'd come down here to make sure everything was ship-shape following the electrical fault. Untying the knot at his waist he pulled his jumpsuit back up around, covering his stained t-shirt, zipping it halfway he began to traipse around the med deck, toying with random utensils, equipment and examining papers left lying around.
Hmm. He voiced - curious, flicking one document over, looking around carefully knowing it wasn't his place to pry.

Preparing ship for docking procedures, all personnel please make your way to your assigned stations as per protocal An electronic voice faded away as the captain's voiced came across the radio, "We are now making our way into port 54, that is port 54 so please make your plans for movement accordingly." The voice came in passing to Luke as he was strumming away on his Ukulele in the cargo bay. Smile was the song of choice, and it was one of his favorites. A muffled sound of air being released from one of the passage ways leading to Luke's area could be heard. Probably one of the ship's personnel checking up on me to make sure I have made my rounds and as the thought flew from his mind, Audrey appeared. "You ready for your final checks Luke?" saying with a grin. Returning the smile in kind he placed his Uke on the seat behind him, "They were as good as done yesterday Audy Baby." Rolling her eyes, she exited the bay as Luke made his way to his documentation.

Years have come and gone since Luke took his roll as a Logistics analyst of sorts for these cargo ships. Starting out with parts to help make maintenance easy for those that stayed on station for long periods of time. Merely a precaution in case anything went awry around EDEN. Eden Luke happily sighed as he made sure the cargo straps were tight around all the equipment, How did a guy like me get so lucky? To be a military man of years luckily thrown into the age of space colonization. What strange twist of fate gave him this opportunity? Well, he couldn't give fate all the credit. Years of arduous work and planning helped him out a bit in his endeavors for space living. He looked down at his documents noticing something from a world before being sent as well. "What on earth are these sort of payloads doing heading to EDEN?" letting slip under his breath as he looked down at the corresponding crates. However, he shrugged it off. That was from a world ago, I am no longer a Sergeant First Class, these choices were made way up high in the SpaceEX head shed. So, he continued forth on making sure everything was accounted for.

As the ship lurched to a halt, he could hear the necessary hoses and machinery taking hold to mount the craft to the Space Station. Wandering back over to his Uke, after completing his necessary rounds, he began to strum away again. Years of work taught him that even though the crew were the last to get off, he was even further behind them because of the accountability and care for the equipment being shipped. Port 54 was now going to be his hang out spot while he awaited appropriate personnel to meet up with him again for the hand off. I wonder if I can grab a bite to eat after this? Hopefully this won't take so long since there isn't to much. What I wouldn't give for some EDEN fine dinning after that long trip.

Walking back into a significant room that looked like it had five offices in one location. Julian was holding a cup of tea in his left hand as he entered the room. He seemed slightly confused when all his co-worker's desks were empty. They still had documents, cups, other office nicknacks on them for writing things down, filling out daily inspections and more. "Fantastic...their all gone..." with a sarcastic tone of voice he went and sat down on his chair. Looking at the fascinating technology before him.

Julian has only been on EDEN for almost two years now since he started the job they sent him by email. He thought it would be more exciting, better opportunities, which it was all that. It wasn't a perfect world but what is now and days? Nothings perfect even if you try your hardest to make it perfect. Julians thoughts weren't long interrupted when somebody came into the room. "You seem like you're caught in something what, is wrong?" a raspy male's voice came from behind him. Julian turned his head over his shoulder as he recognized the voice. "It's nothing Josh...just...this..." Something caught Julian's eye right away when a yellow blinking light came on his computer screen. On the screen showed the whole interior of EDEN. Every room, walkway and system box on the screen. If anything went wrong he would notice. Julian stared at it for a moment seeing it was a yellow light it just went off. The problem just happened in the north-east section of EDEN. "Well, Jules. You should take care of that." Josh stated as he peeps at the screen with Julian for a moment. Julian sighed at the comment Josh made. "I'll be back...This system box has broke four times this week Josh." Julian sighed getting up grabbing a tablet which he transferred the map over to the tablet so he could perceive what's wrong and where. "Not a good thing when something keeps breaking. Report it kiddo'!" Josh raised his voice as Julian was already out of the room quickly before Josh said his sentence.

Julian walked down the corridor as he groaned. Josh was always calling Julian 'Jules' or 'Kiddo' which the nickname Kiddo was just fine though the nickname Jules irritated Julian to an extent and he previously explained to Josh not to name him that. Julian just stopped attempting to get it within Josh's dense head that he doesn't appreciate or prefer the nickname 'Jules' after the twentieth time of explaining it. Josh wasn't his favorite person and people warned him before he even came to EDEN. Remembering it like yesterday. Don't try and make friends with Josh...he doesn't know personal space or when to stop till you collapse even then he is just annoying! Julian laughed at the thought of those words when the female was explaining them to him. It was funny how annoying she thought he was. This thought made him smile as he was almost to his destination.

In the North-east area of EDEN Julian quickly went and found the box which went from a bright yellow to a light orange as he looked at it. "Ugh..." Julian groaned as he noticed the light shift colors before him. Getting to the system box that has been causing a problem all week. He started getting to work on it again. Checking everything he quickly found the problem. Which has been the same thing every single time it changes the yellow color for a warning to come and fix it. One of the main wire that's hooked up to a ten place plugin keeps falling out as well the one code that controls a code produced water gravity system is now automatically shutting itself off when it should only be manual. Julian will report this to Diana which she is the top system-programer in his work area. For now Julian then jammed the main wire into the system as it stayed there. He then quickly turned the code into manual again and it started working. Julian then closed the system box and walked away. He looked down at his tablet which was now at it's normal everything its green state. Meaning nothing is broken or in need of fixing. At least it wasn't the sewage pipes a few months ago where it physically broke on Julian and two others. Julian was even wearing a biohazard suit which the stink still made its way through and ruined his smell for a week.

Julian wasn't paying attention to where he was going as he turned off his tablet glancing up and almost running into another person. He jumped quickly and he luckily didn't blindly walk into that person. "Sorry...so, sorry." He apalogized as the person didn't reply back and kept walking. Julian then hurried back to his office area which when he arrived. All his co-worker's where their working, mostly talking and laughing. Julian then went and sat down at his station and started filling out a document to give to Diana.

Erica arrived to her bloc exactly a half hour early, as she did every morning. As soon as she arrived, she went about switching everything on, making her way around each room to make sure everything was set up for the day to start. Her own office was neatly organized, everything in the same place as she had left it the previous day, but she still made sure to straighten up files, organize her desk, move things around until it looked even better than before and had been arranged to her satisfaction. As she made her way throughout the reception area, she resisted the urge to organize others' workstations that had been left with papers strewn about, pens lying around. She saw that one of the receptionist's screensavers on her monitor was a slideshow of personal photos she had brought from home. She scowled, shaking her head. She couldn't imagine that images portraying a happy life back on Earth would be good for morale. These people should be motivated by discovery, by the new frontier that they were lucky enough to be chosen for. Even so, the smiling faces of the children on the screen made Erica feel a slight pang in her chest, a distant yearning, but she just as quickly shrugged it off. There was no time to think of such things.

By the time she had finished making her rounds and gotten everything into perfect opening condition, she still had fifteen minutes before her shift was supposed to start. Taking the opportunity for what it was, she went back to her personal office, using a key from her keyring to open the bottom drawer and pulled out a binder, organized with tabs and color-codes. It looked just like any other patient file, filled with reports and diagnostics, but this one wasn't official. It was her own personal journal of sorts, where she took note of things she noticed about everyone who came into her bloc, things that had no significance on a medical report but things that mattered nonetheless. Mannerisms, interactions, social activeness, spirituality. Sure, there were mandatory psychological interviews that she conducted quarterly for each individual on EDEN, recording things like morale, motivation, productivity, on the lookout for symptoms of depression or psychosis. Being in a dark, semi-enclosed space over a long period of time can do a lot of bad things to a person, regardless of how strong they are mentally.

For the most part, things were going well. In the time since she'd taken over the medical wing four years ago, she'd only seen two breakdowns and one death, which was unrelated to the individual's mental state. Some people simply couldn't handle it, even after years of training and grooming.
She flipped through the pages of the binder, sitting at the front desk in the reception area, mentally ticking off names, associating each one with a face. She'd personally gotten to know just about everyone here, although she could tell she wasn't exactly popular among them. She tended to keep to herself, and people liked to tease her, telling her to loosen up, have some fun, enjoy herself. But she did enjoy herself. She enjoyed her studies, she enjoyed being productive, she enjoyed doing what she was sent here to do and furthering the mission of EDEN. Every second of every day mattered. Every task was important. Every day determined whether they would survive another day, another week, another year. If they were going to sustain themselves, she had to be on task, every minute of every day.

Before she could read any further, Erica heard the distant incessant beep of an alert from one of the control rooms. Closing the distance between herself and the source of the sound, she saw a flashing red light indicating that there was a fault with the power. As much as her engineering side wanted to take a look at it herself, she knew there were people better suited to do so, and she retrieved her tablet from her office, forwarding the alert to the appropriate department. Before she returned to her binder, she took a moment to look over the machines in the lab. A couple of them had switched to battery power, a dim yellow light indicating they were on power-saving mode. They were far more advanced than the clunky machines she had used on Earth, during her residency. Almost everything here was automated; the robotics teams at SpaceEX knew damn well what they were doing. But still, everything had manual overrides just in case of malfunction, and sometimes Erica was tempted to just use everything that way, just to feel a bit more needed, a bit more necessary, but she figured things were set up the way they were for a reason -- most likely to lower the risk of human error-- so she let things be as they were.

She heard a voice then, an unmistakable Irish accent saying her name in the front room, and she grinned, making her way back to the front room. Thomas Hackett, though a bit more easy-going, was an admirably hard worker, highly skilled in his specialty, and he'd been here far longer than she had and still maintained an optimistic disposition. However, her grin quickly faded when she emerged to see her binder open on the front desk, him standing just beside it, fingers flicking a page over. She almost immediately barked out an order to step away, but she held back, reminding herself of how uptight everyone said she was, and simply forced out a polite, "Excuse me, I'd prefer it if you didn't flip through classified documents." She closed the distance between them, picking up the binder and snapping it shut, embarrassed. She was sure he probably figured it was just another office file, but horrified at the idea of anyone knowing she kept her own personal studies. She cleared her throat, taking in his half-zipped up jumpsuit, the faint indication of a stain showing on his tee shirt, and she found herself compulsively straightening her own lab coat. "Can I help you?" she asked, knowing full well he was here to make sure the electrical fault had been corrected.

As Julian just got to finishing up on the documented report...complain about the gravity water pressure wires falling out of the box and the codes going to 'denied' and demented. The young males eyes shifted from the paper to across the room where a woman very disciplined, straight and sturdy stance stood. She was wearing normal everyday clothing since there was no use working in the conditions on EDEN with suits, dress skirts or dresses. Bound to get dirty at a moment or two in the day. Julian watched her a little under his brow his eyes glared at her for a moment before he looked back at the paper. He hated going up to the boss and giving Machine, software or database complaints because those aren't the only complaints that he sees when he hands them in.
15 minutes later
Time passed as he kept glancing up at her then the clock in the dimmed light. The computer database room wasn't that lit up even though there is computers, electronics, and a few ceiling lights. It was still dim since it wasn't a small room and the dimness helped the computer screens pop out at you. As well the eerie dim lights of EDEN was because, their energy and lighting, not fully done going through levels and levels of construction(updates) and new technology for EDEN was still getting discovered. Which Julian personally always tried on his free time to help figure out things for EDEN. Julian never really cared for the eerieness the lights gave off though he doesn't mind or pay much attention to them anyways.
Glancing back at the female's desk she was gone now and he seemed to jump out of his chair in excitement he then noticed he caused the wheeled chair to fly backward into the middle of the room, his desk shrieked an old creaky noise and his shoes squeaked against the hard tiled floor. He quickly went over to the desk and set it right on the female's keyboard. Sighing in relief he was relieved he could get it to her desk before she noticed. Julian quickly spun on his heel and went back to his desk. A sneaky little thing he was being. The documents didn't really ask for the names of who or what found the problems. They just wanted to know what the problem was in detailed sentences of where what and why. So they can fix it there, that, and then.
While walking back to his desk Julian noticed how far he pushed his chair out in excitement. He then slowly approached it as he wheeled it back to his desk in embarrassment with a slight blush on his face. He quietly sat down on the chair he just retrieved from the eyes of every co-worker in the room staring at him as he brought it back to his desk slightly ashamed of how excited he showed he was. Getting his eyes to his computer screen he looked at it noticed he had a few things out of place on the computer. A couple of things took his eyes into consideration of what they were. Messages as he opened them he read through them and realized they were from the boss of the department he worked in.
Julian sighed as he noticed he was sent to go pick up a few things. Though he really doesn't know where those things are for surely located. Exiting out of his computer Julian traveled his way to where he thought the place would be. Cargo deck? Where the hell would the cargo deck be? Running his fingers through his hair as he thought. He took a left which was actually the correct way since he looked up at the sign just in time to know which way he should go or not. Making his way down to the cargo deck he slowly and purposely took his time to not get back into the office right away.
Cargo Deck
It seemed like the shipment arrived a little bit ago since the men around all sized crates were being carried, organized, and opened up throughout the whole room. He was standing on a higher place than the actual cargo deck floor was. Staring through a window he realized he stood there for a bit too long and some of the people noticed him. Smiling a bit awkwardly and walking off down the corridor where it led to stairs and those stairs led to the actual main cargo deck. Julian was a little shaky since he didn't know who to approach or what to say. The email he delivered literally stated Get the package SE-453, 23-DA, C.F. Technology, and package 51800061SD-Code. The shipment should've arrived already though you might have to wait. Its location is the cargo deck. They are small crates except, C.F. Technology. Julian stood there in shock on even what to do. He swallowed hard as he looked around and if you paid attention to his hands you could see they were trembling. Julian started approaching the workers nervously as he hesitated a few times. From some walking towards him, others away and he was not familiar with anything to leaving his office, living corridors or any workspace really unless something turned yellow, orange, or red colors on the work tablet he uses every day for work. Trying to get people's attention. He tried spitting out words though the workers with creates walked right passed him. He then knew he was probably talking to the wrong people on where to get the crates. Julian then froze without noticing as he stared into blank space. He was mentally waiting for somebody to actually notice the paper he had in his hand for the shipments he needs to find and take back to his boss.

Casey yawned, the noise emitted high-pitched and almost strained as her arms came above her head. Slowly she brought herself to sit up in her bunk, examining the computer on a movable wall stand, the screen had gone into standby. Still half dazed and sleepy she brought up the display, eyes widening slightly as she read the time, shaking her head lightly from side-to-side: annoyed with herself for sleeping in and wasting time.

The majority of the Mission Specialists personal goals in research and study were in chemical compositions and study of lunar soil among other things. SpaceEX, the people who hired her and the science officers around EDEN also had specific missions for her, she had only been on EDEN six months now being among the last lucky few to gain a place living and working on the moon, pioneers, the first.

There were always stories being thrown her way of how horrible it was up here by a couple of people she worked closely with who had been on the station a lot longer than her. It was all just teasing, she was mostly sure. Her ambition and work ethic had not gone unnoticed during her time here either, she browsed down along the assorted list of numerous files, scientific research, neatly and efficiently sorted for sake of convenience. A lot of this stuff was research from when she simply worked for SpaceEX back on Earth, she didn't like to delete any of her work. Taking her hands away from the computer to brush her messy bed hair out of her face and bring her nails down along her thighs and shins, scratching the mild itch. She hopped out of the bed, quickly got changed and tied up her hair so she looked somewhat presentable. After quickly washing her face she felt ready to face the day and made her way out of her habitat, laptop tucked under one arm preferring it to the tablets while she had one she kept it down in the research bloc.

Casey was strolled through the corridors, tunnels and blocs of NE EDEN, making her way to the labs for experiments linked closely with her studies, she hadn't come across anyone until she heard footsteps and as she turned the corner saw someone who she thought she recognized in a hazardous materials suit. They apologized as he walked past and she suddenly recognized the voice, "Oh hi!" She uttered but wasn't sure if he had heard her as he seemed to be a bit hectic. She rubbed her eyes with her free hand, still feeling heavy and carried on her way. She had only talked to him on a few occasions, namely in passing but he seemed nice.

Just as she came to LAB she ran into one of the science officers, she sighed and closed her eyes for a second, this guy knew how to get under someone's skin and Casey had gotten just a little bit of a creepy vibe off him which wasn't what bugged her about him but did't do any favor to his character. He stopped her to ask about studies, she politely stopped but hurried to get into the LAB and just work. Setting up her laptop on one of the free stands and and went to make herself coffee, this would be just what she needed. Once she had a cup she walked back over to the workstation and began to bring up files. A radio call distracted her, it was from Space EX officials back home so she left the coffee down to take it.

Everything was going smooth as silk in the Cargo bay. "Alright Luke you got everything off?" the Co-captain Reggie said to him as he was messing around on his Uke. Luke yanked the Uke out of Reggie's hands, eyes squinting, then a smile creeped across his face, "Of course buddy, everything seems to be covered. Y'all heading over to Bay 9 for refueling I assume then back out?" Reggie laughed and put up a fake boxing stance, sent a few punches into Luke's arm, "You know it buddy. Got a few more trips to make back and forth. So I will catch you next time. Next time for you is..." he trailed off as Luke turned to see a young gentleman wondering around the workers with some paperwork. "Next Monday my boy, will be nothing but a mining shipment this time. So all the crew members will get some stick time on the fork lifts. Until then man, safe travels."

Luke put his logistics paperwork under his left armpit and began strumming Elvis' "Can't help falling in love" on this Uke as he made his way over to Julian. Trying to match his eyes to his he asked, "Here for a pickup?" The young man before him seemed like a very humble young man. Looked like this might be his first time picking up for his section, whichever that might be. As he waited for a response he heard a loud thud behind him. As he whipped around he saw that it was a couple of his crew mates messing around on the forklift and had sped it into a couple of boxes. Their eyes were wide like a deer in the headlights as they noticed Luke had saw them. "Unless you plan on paying for the fork lift as a gift for yourself to take home I suggest you start treating it with a bit more respect you dang chillrin. If you can't do it on your own I have no problem having some of the heavy mechanics come down here and schooling you on that machine again for as many hours as it takes" Finishing with a smile as the two of them apologized profusely. Turning back to Julian, clearing his throat he shot a smile his way, "Kids will be kids right?"

What was written in the studies didn't mean much to Tommy as he skimmed. A lot of the terminology used flew over his head but it was some study delving mainly into the links between environments and human biology and psychology. It was obviously related to EDEN and Tommy had some own personal philosophy and reflection on the matter but he was no psychologist. "Excuse me, I'd prefer it if you didn't flip through classified documents." His attention shifted immediately to the Doc who was closing distance quick, he stepped back from the file as she took it up and shut it. "Can I help you?"

"Yeah, no I was just checking everything here is alright." He replied with a friendly grin. "Faulty electrics." He elaborated, he never knew what to do with his hands when standing and always wound up sticking them in his pockets, otherwise he'd just fidget. "It's interesting, so it is." Tommy's right hand pointed towards the binder that Erica now held onto before pinching his nose and then going back into his pocket. "Any news with yourself?" He inquired, there wasn't anything worse than an awkward silence when it came to conversing, despite his reserved nature it was something that irked him. He'd personally never had any problems with Erica despite what many would see as an abrasive attitude at at times, Tommy liked a good character. He caught her look at his appearance and as her attention fell away from him straightening out her own coat he took a quick glimpse at his stained clothes.

"Did you hear? the new SPR is going to be tested this week." Tommy mentioned, trying to tribute her dislike of small talk by bringing it on to something more related to the main focus. Hackett had headed the team of a handful of fellow engineers who together through their variety of expertise conceptualized, designed and produced the first rover of its kind before everything the station was today had come to be. The 'SPR' he was referring to was the Specialized Pressurized Rover, allowing passengers to traverse outside the walls of EDEN without the need for a cumbersome spacesuit, that is until they have to disembark at least. He had been designated one out of four participants for the first round of outdoor testing which was really more of an excursion in the field of science as well,it was something he thought she might have been interested in. He took on a slight slouch and seemed more relaxed scratching idly at his stubble. As well as enjoying a good conversation, Tommy found it one of the most effective ways to kill time or delay doing something. Some days however there just wasn't much to do outside of basic routine and rounds, it could get a bit mind numbing on occasion.

Ever the analytical one, Erica couldn't help but subtly observe Tommy's mannerisms and body language. Her reservation faltered a bit - it was clear he meant well and hadn't intended to pry. She needed to quit stressing over every little thing, no one here was going to cause any harm, and he and everyone else on EDEN spent every day doing exactly what she did: Going through the motions and trying to keep occupied. Of course there was much to do, things to be taken care of, machines to be operated and tests to be recorded. But at the end of the day... there was a lot of spare time. Even in their small community, every wing and bloc had more than enough manpower to take care of things and there wasn't much of a sense of urgency unless the situation called for it. Even in the medical wing, the majority of Erica's job was based on interviews and evaluations. It wasn't particularly exciting, and it was very rare for an emergency to occur. So it was nice, on occasion, to just interact. Erica knew that much of EDEN considered itself to be a "family" of sorts -- she had never gotten so close to anyone here as to consider them family, but at times, she understood the appeal considering that many of them had left real families behind on Earth.

She returned the grin tightly, clutching her binder to her chest and looking back toward the laboratory when he mentioned the electrical system. "Seems to be alright," she replied, "Just a power drop, nothing major, everything important switched to backup battery power." It was then that Tommy mentioned her binder, and her eyes widened. Clearing her throat and trying to remain unperturbed, she said, "Yes, honestly fascinating. We train and groom ourselves for months in preparation to come here and still the environment has some unanticipated effects. And no two people react to it the same, everyone experiences it a bit differently." She smiled, shaking her head and laughing a bit. "I could go on about it for hours honestly but I won't bore you with it." When asked about herself, all she could do was shrug. "Nose to the grindstone as usual. Been doing some research on dietary supplements to counteract the weight loss effect. Much as everyone exercises and eats around here, it's hard to keep up the muscle mass, so we've got people in the lab working on it. Just for something to do. What about you? Anything new?"

She found that Tommy was easy-going enough that she could speak with him fairly openly. To her knowledge, he'd never expressed any kind of judgment or anything similar in regards to her personality; As clique-y as things could get up here, there were some people, including herself, who didn't partake in that kind of thing. And she appreciated when others held themselves above that as well.

At the mention of the SPR, Erica lit up a bit, excitedly. "I did hear! That's wonderful! Are you excited to test it out?" Ever since coming to EDEN, she had been immersed in the medical world and had little time to focus on her other interests. Hearing about what was going on in the other wings kept her sane. A lot of the new technology in EDEN was discovered through trial-and-error and safety precautions were always taken to make sure no one got hurt in case of malfunction, but it was always fun to see things evolve from an idea to reality and all of the brainpower that went into creating it. The SPR had been in the works for longer than Erica had been on EDEN, and if all went well, it would be an exciting advancement in their abilities as far as leaving the base itself.

Tommy nodded in acknowledgement of Erica's status report on the bay, his sight shifting to the laboratory with hers before coming back again. "Just another fault, almost routine at this stage." He joked with her, "There's nothing major happened in a long time now, luckily." He added to the comment, his tone thankful. It was true, so far over it's history EDEN had been relatively blessed with how little had gone wrong since landing on the hunk of space rock itself, considering what hypothetically could have and in some instances was predicted to go wrong. Four deaths over the course of fourteen years on such a dangerous mission was not all that high a toll to Tommy's mind. The loses of course had been personal and affected everyone who was around differently, but Tommy's theory on it was that it was the reminder of their own mortality when incidences happened that really got to them. It wasn't all too different from the base feeling at heart in seeing an ambulance pass back home on Earth, while most people generally felt for the stranger in the situation it was the grim reminder of one day you too being in a similar position that drove the emotional pull, a connection of sorts. He knocked one of the desks in the work area, "Touch wood." His grin resurfaced, referencing the old superstition of knocking on wood to continue good fortune.

Erica's enthuse and passion for her field wasn't just recognizable in her work and the way she talked about it but also through mannerisms, body language and otherwise commonly associated with discussing a passion.
"Not at all." He got in, commenting on being bored by the matter "On some level I can't say I haven't noticed it, you're right when you say fascinating." Tommy concurred. He took notice of her shared enthusiasm at the topic of rover and it's mission. Like Erica talking about his field was something he could go on about for hours and under the right circumstances it would be nearly impossible to get him to stay quiet.

"Are you excited to test it out?"

"Well, yeah definitely." Tommy answered, taking the few steps to the surface he'd left his tool bag, taking it up and holding it by his side as he turned back to the doctor, his unoccupied hand now resting by his side, his fingers unable to stay still for too long. "I mean, there's a lot of kinks worked out with this, the reports and logs from planet-side outlined most of the major improvements, it's interesting stuff that in theory should work to allow people longer outside which in turn will lend its own strengths to maybe expanding further out again into the future." He began explaining, not wanting to get into the specific mechanical terminology, theory, practice and execution. "I'll be the designated repairman over anything else on board." He scoffed, "Easy sailing." Tommy worked his neck around stretching out some of the tension he felt around the base. "The Rover program is close to my own heart." He added, a brief laugh escaping his lips. "I'll be happy to be seeing some of the 'action'." There was a heavy emphasis on the word.

Julian felt totally out of place in this area of EDEN. Yes, he has been on EDEN for almost two years now. But, still to him, he has merely discovered scarcely than 50% of EDEN itself. He was literally a lost cause sometimes.
hearing a male's laid back calming voice. "Ye-" he got caught off by a raising voice. The guy's voice was smooth till he started yelling at two other workers. Julian's face went emotionless as the unknown male's voice raising rang in his ears. He kept his mouth shut and waited till the guy ease down. Those two appear very vigorous and juvenile with the complex equipment and Julian was jovial he wasn't working at this place in EDEN. He probably would accidentally get smashed with a big machine or die in the most un-noble way humanly possible on this planet...well moon. Waiting, to see if he had to talk or not first after that yelling. He didn't and thank god.

Nodding his head to the male's remark he suddenly let out a few statement "Like always" Julian respond with that half ass sarcastic tone of voice with a smirk. He was pretty good at warming up to people after a few words. Thinking about what he came here in the first place for. Julian cleared his throat and gulped slightly as he looked at the male. His eyes showed a mixture of much emotion as he intensely looked at the man for a moment. Julian wasn't trying to intimidate the man or anything it was just out of habit so he could remember faces. Julian locked eyes then spoke "I did come here for shipments for the technology System engineer section in this place." he then handed the man the paper he had in his hands.

Which the paper had this on it: Get the package SE-453, 23-DA, C.F. Technology, and package 51800061SD-Code. The shipment should've arrived already despite you might have to wait. Its location is the cargo deck. They are small crates except, C.F. Technology
Julian hoped this lad, at least could influence him in the course he needed to proceed. "If you could point me to where these would be bunched up at...it would be a great help," Julian stated as he now just stood there and waited for the fellow to acknowledge.

As Luke took the paper he noticed the stance of the young man. It was just a guy trying to get the job done it seemed. Stacking his paperwork on top of the gentleman's,"You ever play before?" he outstretched his arm that had the Ukulele in it, "I find it to be the most relaxing of the string instruments...uh your name was?". Luke's head turned over his shoulder and he shouted, "Hey Delilah, get me the C.F. Technology shipment please and bring it on over! Put the pedal to the metal please, we got other customers." A young lady who had been leaning against the boxes rolled her eyes and gave a quick laugh at Luke.

No matter what, he did his best to make sure his coworkers understood the importance of doing a good job but still wanted them to enjoy the, at times, mundane work. Luke had been doing this for 5 years now and understood how much standing around at times they had to do. Get the shipment, load the shipment, account for it then unload. The life really wasn't as "exciting" as other careers on the ship. However, it was still an important piece of the puzzle. These were the tools to help alleviate certain short comings that happened in different jobs. It was his teams duty to make sure those tools were kept safe, maintained well, and given over in a professional manner.

Laughed a little as the male extended his arms towards Julian's torso. Julian then shook his head no. "I haven't played that instrument though I play the piano and violin. Exciting..." With a more emphasized an exaggerated positive tone of voice on the word 'exciting' he was kind of doubting those things as interesting things to play once he noticed the instrument of the other lad's was a Ukulele. He actually hasn't ever seen a Ukulele in real before till now. He smiled slightly maybe he would try one day if he ever has time.

"Julian Jack Felix...though most people just call me Julian, Jack or Felix...they all sound like first names. Whichever you prefer." Julian felt stupid now for adding those little comments and instantly his hand went to the back of his neck and rubbed it as it formed to be tense. Moments after he heard the boss guy then raise his voice again at another co-worker. Which was a girl who clearly rolled her eyes then walked off? Julian was somewhat interested in how these subjects acted. Though he wasn't going to just pour out questions or stay around here all day. Especially when the words 'Put the pedal to the metal please, we got other customers.' which he didn't want to bother them by observing their normal body language and actions though he was interested in learning those topics. Julian also had other things to do. Every single time he left the System Engineer room it seemed like his crew would fall apart. Like he did the most work or something. Always annoyed him slightly. Even Diana was acting strange which she would come over and sit on his desk a lot of the day sometimes and complain about how her life up here on EDEN is so dull and how she was a blossoming flower on Earth. She was something else. But Julian could understand how she felt. Being so far away from home, friends and family were kinds of sickening at times. He remembers the day he got invited the opportunity to come up and work on EDEN though he lost closeness with his family, lost his girlfriend, and doesn't have any friends in the process of becoming new pioneers on the moon. Expanding life outside of the Green Planet(earth) and adventuring off into outer space.

He always second guessed himself questioned if what happened if he wouldn't of the left earth. He might have been happier after awhile. Still having a girlfriend, being close to his family, and still having those deep conversations with his close friends. It's only been less than two years and he hasn't got a letter or any contact at all for nine months. They haven't replied to his last few letters. Well...not few a lot of letters though they stopped replying. All his friends stopped sending postcards and other little nick-nacks which he has all over in his room. Julian sighed and felt a little lonely as he stared off into the ground as he then looked around. He kinda just wanted to go back to his room or somewhere he could be alone. He was gonna take an hour break once he got these packages back to the System Engineer room for Diana and the others.

"Felix it is then, the name is Luke." he then returned the Uke back to side and started strumming "Hey there Delilah". "So how is the section you work with? Keep you busy on old beautiful EDEN here?" saying as he swayed back and forth with his Uke. If it wasn't for this instrument his idle hands would get the best of him. Patience was a partial virtue to Luke. However, he would prefer to be always engaged with something productive. As much as he could pass of his helpfulness to people it was also a selfish endeavor in ways. Creating good relationships with others, through work, while getting to keep his mind busy.

Delilah made her way back, driving the fork lift, and dropped off three packages in front of them. "Fresh off the presses Luke. I'm going to take my lunch break now." She said while adjusting her hard hat of sorts. Luke looked her up and down, "Get your butt out of here and enjoy your lunch hour. We have two more shipments coming in and I promised Jerry we would help him unload. I'm gonna need you ready to go, you are one of my best fork lift drivers." At the tail end of that comment he motioned toward the two knuckleheads who were messing around on the lift earlier. She chuckled, "Of course, you know I wouldn't leave you hanging." Delilah waved, parked the lift and headed out.

Luke compared the paperwork to the boxes. Yep, everything seemed to match up. "Alright Felix, just need your John Hancock and you are set buddy." He took out his highlighter, marked a few spots on the page for initials and signature then handed it over to Julian.

Nodding his head to what Luke says he's going to call him. "Good choice" Julian says as he looks around a little. He was of sorts a bit curious about everything so he kind of had to take a look around when he wasn't being talked to or wasn't talking. "They keep me busy. I have to run around fixing everything that is attached to System Engineer. Though I stay up a little too late sometimes working. Diana controls my section do you know her? She's in mid thirty's and has dark brown hair. Kind of tall for a female." Since Julian got to EDEN he worked under Diana. She taught him the ropes and then pushed him off the cliff so he could catch them. He was a fast learner so he instantly got the hang of everything she taught him in the couple weeks she had to teach him. Till this day Julian is still learning more things about EDEN.

He strolled over with the guy to the crates that got set down somewhat in front of him. He remembered the crates names from the paper and smiled when they were the right ones. Though he knew he wasn't gonna be able to carry them all back to the System Engineer room all by himself. He knew they had things to but, he didn't see any insight right now.

Seemed slightly confused when Luke asked for 'Jon Hancock' after that sentence he was completely lost in trying to think what he could mean. Signature? Maybe Signature Though he was still gonna ask Luke what it meant. Since he was unsure of the statement. "Do you want my signature that means?" Julian asks with a tone of voice that says 'I don't really know what you want to please explain' as he stares at Luke now.

With a bit of a laugh he replied, "Unless you can provide me with the living breath John Hancock, which would be imressive on a number of levels, a signature will suffice." Luke noticed him taking a peak around, Felix must not get to this area much, curiosity seems to be at an all time high. "Sounds important bud, appreciate what you do for the station." replying to his earlier statement as he helped stack the boxes to make them easier to carry.

That is when Luke noticed the he was by himself, "Hey, I just hit my lunch break, do you need help with these boxes? Or is someone coming in a bit to help you out with getting these suckers where they belong?" This was just a natural reflex for himself. It would also let him explore more parts of EDEN that he had potentially not seen before. "Also, I have not met Diana yet, I hope she treats you right."

Smiled slightly at the man's comments. "Would be pretty hard for me to get a real breathing John Hancock. So I'll do the signature instead." Julian jokes a little as he then writes down his signature where Luka wants him too. He kind of felt like a little child when he kept letting his eyes wander and look around and everything. Julian had a little curious side to him when it came to new things. "Ah, thanks. Well, it wouldn't be anything without you guys here. You deliver and help us get our packages." Julian kept a slight smile on his lips as he still looked around somewhat. He noticed he still had Luke's pen in his hand. He then extended his hand. "Here's your pen." Julian speaks out as he gives it back.

When all the boxes were stacked he sighed as he noticed he was gonna have to carry them all. Since Diana didn't send anyone else with him and in the email, she sent it said 'you' not 'you and Josh' or anybody else on the team. He felt a little picked out like she was testing him or something. Which she should do from time to time on things.

Getting back into reality when Luke speaks. Julian then looked at him and looked at the boxes. He listened to what he had to say and nodded his head. "No, you can go and enjoy your lunch break. I don't wanna keep bothering you. I've already taken a bunch of your time up." Julian felt a little bad about bothering Luke and his crew already. He kind of felt like a slight bother. "Eh...she didn't send anyone with me. So, I'm on my own right now. THough I think I can carry these boxes myself. I just gotta make a few trips instead of one." Rubbing the back of his neck Julian felt bad he was waiting Luke's lunch break. "I don't wanna waste anymore of your lunch break Luke." Julian says with a serious tone of voice as he picks up two boxes. Then stands there looking at Luke. "She's like a crazy stuffed teddy bear. She treats me with respect and treats me like a human so, I think that's treating me pretty well." Julian smiles then sets the boxes back down. He probably shouldn't pick those up till he's gonna leave.

Luke smiled and was about to respond before he was cut off from a voice at the entrance to the bay.

"Luke and Julian, glad you all are together." It was Musgrave. The gentleman that was pretty much Luke's bosses boss. It was a rarity to see him come all the way down here for any reason really.

"Sir, what do I...well I mean we owe the pleasure of this meet up?" Luke said as he put his Uke down on top of the boxes he had signed over to Julian. "Well it is more of a convenience that I found you both in the same spot. The heads of the different departments had met together today because a rover mission is going to be conducted in the next few days. All of us had to bring to the table a nominee of sorts to help fill the different slots of the mission. Now this is a mission for discovery as it were so we will be transporting potentially different 'harvesting' type equipment. I will need you to monitor and make sure this equipment is ready to be operated at any point you understand? Basically, I am saying that you made the cut. Now as for you Mr. Felix, I was asked by your superior...Diana? I believe it was, to run and find you as well. It would seem she has chosen you too take the lead from your division as it were. At this point it is up to the lead of this mission to brief you on exactly what your duties shall be so I am terribly sorry I am so limited on info for you. With that being said are there any questions?"

Luke threw up a fake salute of sorts, "I won't let you down El Cap-i-tan! I will make sure everything goes smooth as silk in my department." Musgrave just rolled his eyes, "You better not, or it will be your ass. I am sending you the list of equipment needed to get gathered up for the mission later today. Please be on the lookout for it."

Julian looked at the male who was speaking now and interrupted Luke. He thought it was rude even if the man had something important. Julian crossed his arms as he listened to the man. Saying his name he nodded his head in no words formed from his mouth. He was being quiet seeing who the guy was and he was examining the guy up and down.

Closer to the end of the male's paragraph. He was talking about Diana. "She sent me down here for this...I knew it was weird for her to send me down somewhere like this..." Julian mumbled now knowing why she sent him off to get boxes. So he wouldn't question where she was going for a meeting. His face seemed off like he just got betrayed. Julian couldn't believe Diana put him on this mission. he seriously is the newest person or one of the newest in his section. He just turned on his heel and crossed his arms. He seemed to have a slight or a lot of childish reaction to this. Mumbling things to himself which they didn't sound bad. Julian was just mumbling to figure out why she put him on this mission. "She wants me dead..." He whispered and sighed. "It's fine. I know you can't tell me much about my section it's a hard section to wrap up." Julian says as he keeps his back to them.

Hearing nothing else said to him. Julian automatically picked up the two boxes he could carry and started walking out. He had a serious expression on his face slightly angered. He wanted to go talk to Diana right now. He wasn't happy about her putting him on this mission. I knew she hated me... His mind was going wild with thoughts. He wasn't hating he got sent on a mission. He would make new friends it was just she could've at least said 'Hey, you might be picked for a mission Juliaun.' she could've just at least said something for a little bit of emotional preparing.
