@NekoMizuI understand why it bothers you; I sometimes feel "dirty" for enjoying certain things simply because it means I could be counted as part of the community, but I don't consider myself part of any fandom outright, since I don't involve myself with them for the most part.
The most recurrent types of toxic people I find in the Super Smash Bros. community can be categorized into two groups, I believe; people who bash each other because they don't agree on what rules or settings or items or stages should be considered "legal" in competitive play, and people who bash anything if it's not Nintendo,
period. The latter is more toxic to me, because the former exists in every competitive community sadly. You cannot provide viable justification for why you're not interested in what they like because they block out anything they don't want to hear; they live in their own little world.
I know Nintendo fanboys that will bash a new addition to Super Smash Bros. if that character isn't one of Nintendo's creations, and people who literally think they're a superior form of life compared to anyone who doesn't think Nintendo is an almighty messiah that can do no wrong. These people would literally get the next Mario game even if Nintendo decided to turn Mario into a stand-in for Hitler and completely defended, nay
advocated the Holocaust; they're fucking degenerates.
