Training Grounds

Despite herself, Lee couldn't stop the burst of laughter that escaped her lips at Xinhua's words. Stormed out, you know, because of Xinhua's talent with thunder and lightning. And, she supposed, that laughter had been a way of releasing whatever hold that atmosphere around the Mess Hall had placed on her. There was the Xinhua she knew, calm and disciplined like the eye of a storm but constantly surrounded by a raging aura of intimidation, and she wouldn't have the girl any other way.

Lee slipped her way underneath the storm clouds and gave Xinhua a one-sided hug and a lopsided grin. "That's my girl! I know you don't need it, but I can do my best to help you train, even if it's just healing some scrapes." With a wave of her hand, a vine extended from a nearby bush and slithered towards her. She had meant to try and shape it into a dummy for Xinhua, but when her hand met it, it gave her a brief glimpse of some commotion occuring somewhere in the school. With a purse of her lips and a look shot towards her friend, she allowed her eyes to slip shut and established her connection with the plantlife. A tree near the buildings gave her sight to a small group of people cluttered around the billboard, while a number of students clammored to enter the office. Lee didn't need to look at what the board held to know that it was a notification about a field trip, but she still did so anyway. She transferred her connection to a bird perched on the tree and flew into an open window. She perched on the shoulder of one of those reading what the billboard held to see it for herself. City of the Dead. She didn't think she'd heard of that place before. She most certainly didn't have pictures of it on her wall. She'd know. She checked the Wanderlust Wall (or as she sometimes liked to call it during her off days, the Pain Wall) that morning. She released her hold on the bird, wincing only slightly when she realized that the poor animal and perhaps even those students would panic at its location. She'd find it and give it some seeds later.

She turned her attention back to Xinhua. "There's a new fieldtrip posted up. To the City of the Dead with Professor Levi. Are you going?" Clear longing and hope shone in her eyes. While she couldn't leave the school grounds due to her... condition, she would make sure she had plenty of photographs of the places her friends had gone to.

Walking around on the university’s premises, Allen got a glimpse of a crowd gathering near an office he was all but too familiar with. Being of a curious nature, Allen was often driven to be part of whatever school trips were offered to students for a limited time. Nothing better than going out on the field for a practice run, the young man always said. Judging by the crowd gathering in front of the field trips’ office, Allen thought that maybe he had missed at one point the announcement of the upcoming field trips period.

Upon acknowledging this wonderful news, the Elemental Mage made his way to the billboard to take a look at the trips offered this time. After spending so much time at the academy, Allen was familiar with almost every location B.U.M was offering as school trips. There was however one peculiar place that he had never set foot because it was a new area he had never seen on the billboard before. This new location was the hot topic right now as people looked at the billboard and chatted about areas to go and the newest trip.

“Hey Allen, you seen the City of the Dead yet? We were talking about some people, you included, who went to every trip available. We were wondering if that place was new, and thought that maybe you would’ve known.” One of the student asked the silver-haired journeyman as he had approached the crowd surveying the list of field trips available.

Allen took a minute to look at the billboard himself to read the following:
[City of the Dead]
Journeymen only.
At least five (5) people per group.
Further details with Prof. Levi.

“No, I haven’t seen that place before. It must be a newly discovered place because I can tell that it has never been offered as a field trip before. I haven’t even heard of it before too.” Strauss answered, interest sparked in his voice.

“Guess we all know who’s going there for a trip this year.”

People in the crowd laughed, Allen included as he nodded affirmatively to the others. It was a shame the City of the Dead was offered to the journeymen only, as Allen was pretty sure Viola would’ve loved to come to such an auspicious-named place as this. Well, knowing just how stubborn she was, she might just be part of the journey after all.

"One week?" he asked surprised, slowly putting on the bracelets.
He knew better not to try to argue with that woman. Her decisions were final and she wasn't one to change her mind very often.

"You have a point... but there weren't any other students when the incident happened!" he said, protesting.
"Its not about controlling my powers, its about taking risks in order to learn!"
"Humanity adapts, changes and evolves by making sacrifices, taking risks, always wanting to completely understand everything!"
"Weavers have almost unrestricted access to the forces that rule the existence. Understanding them will change the way we see the world and magic forever! But messing with them is very dangerous..."
"But you need to understand! We weavers live for knowledge!" he said, his eyes burning with passion

"I'm sure ya recognize this, put it on before I continue,"

"I suppose that field trips are out of question for me..." he said, disappointed.

Shaking his head, disappointed he sighed. It was useless trying to argue with her. It would be better if he only accepted what she said.

"About my room... I do really want to understand what happened there. Not only untangle the strings, but to understand. With enough time, I will be able to revert what happened and fully understand the incident." he said.

"Could you allow me to work on my old room? If not... could you assign me to complete my community services at the library?" he asked, with his hand on his face.

"Room 20-D? Understood. Have you already... notified the students that are in the room about me? Not everyone is particularly pleased by my presence."

Angela's was, by the way, a fashionable place, with an old, thin, but gregarious woman who was enthusiastic about getting Alexander Alcaster and Charles some new clothes; for Alex, a black-and-white suit much like Leo's, with a silken sheen and a deep red rose pinned to a left pocket, a rose enchanted never to wilt. Charles, meanwhile, got a white shirt and a vest of yellow silk with a red lion sewn in the middle, as well as short, tan pants and tiny, but tough sneakers. She would then smile:

"You've brought customers who are fitting for my creations, Leo; it wasn't hard to find the clothes that have been...calling out for them ever since they were woven," She would then kiss Leo on the cheek, causing the young man to be embarrassed.

After that, in the rest of the Mall, Leo didn't buy any pets, but he did buy a large bag of candy, as well as a stuffed horse (a mustang). However, it was clear that those were not for Charles, but for himself; the young man had other plans for a gift, something actually useful. Once they got to a bookstore, Leo would buy a small dictionary that had been enchanted with a 'sound' spell, one that allowed the book to 'speak' the words on whatever page was opened. He would then hand this to Charles after paying for it.

"Here, Charles," he would say, "this is a book, basically a small box that you open to find words. If it turns out you can't read," always a possibility for the amnesiac, "the book is enchanted with a spell that allows it to speak the words on the pages, which is what you call the flat pieces of paper in the book." Leo was worried that in his desire to help Charles, he may sound...creepy; he had learned that some behaviors were just not allowed.

Then, he would turn towards Alex, saying:

"Anyway, what are exact powers you have? I've been looking for a sparring partner for a while now, ever since my boyfriend left." There, he revealed he had a boyfriend discreetely and in a way that didn't seem like he was shooting the other young man down too bluntly, as well as, at the same time, not rejecting the idea of being around the other Mage completely...

Alexander wasn't the biggest Dan of the suit but he figured he should wearit with pride, it was free, however. Alexander followed along as they continued their way around the mall. They stopped at a few places and the last place they stopped at was a book store. The gesture of the book from Leo to Charles was so kkind. Alex sighed as Leo asked him about his powers and announced his boyfriend.

At the remark of sparing a cold darkness fell over Alexander as his arms began to glow a little. The air became cold and his eyes grew dark as he stared up at Leo. "trust me when I say you don't want to know the things I have done or the things i can do. Please, if anything for my sake, not talk about that." the level of seriousness expressed in the young boys voice was dark and petrifying. Alexander didn't easily talk about his power. It was dangerous and not the type of magic you want to spar with unless you are another blood mage. Blood magic , as well as dark magic , are dangerous arts and Alexander did not want to hurt anyone.

Looking away from the group he started down at the ground and the air returned to normal. "can we please just continue the tour now" he said feeling cold and distraught. He didn't want to have to strike any sort of danger or fear at anyone but for some reason the evil feelings of hatred and petrifying fear just came naturally to him. He wanted more of it, the feeling came over almost like a blood lust but he was good at holding back at least this long he has made it.

Turning back to the group he smiled holding a false security of happiness. It appeared on the outside that everything was now ok, no matter what had just happened. With a small smirk he looked up at everyone again. "seriously. Can we just get going?" he asked nervously. He hoped he hadn't drawn too much attention with that. Attention could be a problem and that was not something he needed in his first day.

Charles would simply do as he was told when the was at the clothing shop, uncertain as to what he should do otherwise. After he was given his new clothes he would look confused at the Lion on the back. He would look around at the books when they made it to the book store. He would decide to ask "what is this..?" he would say finally pointing at the lion on the back of the vest. He would take the book he was given looking at it strangely. "Why... are you... trying to help.. me.?" he would speak looking back at Leo. He would listen to Leo and Alexander talk, getting confused when Alexander's attitude changes then changes again. He wasn't certain what was going on at all.

- Klaus Knuez : Office-

"Hm, how intriguing..."

The young man stood at the board, looking over the available courses, as well as field trips. There were so many options to select upon but yet... which ones were the proper courses to take? Could he truly improve himself on a field trip or be a burden? So many items of interest stuck to him on the first day, such as the frivolous scene that he came to denote in the eatery. He pursed his lips and stared at another sheet of paper with other lonesome students whose numbers exponentially increased every couple of minutes. He rapped on his lips for a second before examining a general class that facilitated students within his circle.

Hm...

Ignoring the couple of odd stares his way, he moved over to looking at the areas explaining the field trips, making sure to keep an upright stance. Wouldn't want to get sloppy on posture. As he looked around, his thoughts recycled through his peculiar encounters, notwithstanding his... roommates.

Klaus felt they were much worse when it came to deriding him with their constant tomfoolery and... that horrible, consequential, diabolical mess! The butler shivered a little at the thought, but only for a second, though that mental image. Biting his lip, he swiftly perished the thought, though it continued to haunt him as his eyes moved to the words "City of the Dead," and its explanation. It appeared to be an interesting option, but alas, he didn't exactly understand much of it. He pondered on it within the recesses of quietness, letting out a small "hm" every now and then.

Though, it failed to last long as the quaint area became exhausted with the masses piling onto each other. The riff raff and irritated shouting seemed to bother the butler as he closed his eyes, letting a slight sigh escape his mouth. Klaus' thoughts dissipated the moment a couple of other students began sighting the same item he had been prior investigating, expressing befuddlement and caution. Pivoting to face one of them, Klaus tried to analyze who had a handle on this situation.

"Uhm, pardon me m'lady," he inquired to the short pink haired woman with the myriads of piercing on her face and... skimpy apparel. Was there not a dress code in play?

She quickly responded to the civil boy who was displaying an affable smile on his face. Klaus did not know how she might respond, but the looks he received were similar to the ones he procured earlier... except there was a smirk. His eyes responded to all the details over her body, to how she tugged on her nose ring to how she went from tapping on her toe to heel at irregular intervals.

"Heh-hey! I didn't know B.U.M. hired a butler this year!" She chortled for a while as Klaus tilted hiss head to the side, staring at the girl as if she belonged in a mad house. There was a frown expanding on his face as the woman continued her speech. "Ey, mind grabbin' me some grub? Got dragged here with m'friends and didn't get the time to procure some food." She had a toothy grin before patting the butler on his shoulder, eliciting no response aside from a glare at her hand.

"... heh, just messin' with ya! So Butler Boy, live to serve huh?" Live to serve? Why of course! He was a butler... but he couldn't deviate from his question. "Yes, I-," as he gave a quick nod to the woman along side with that, she put a finger to his lips. Crossing his eyes at the index finger, he furrowed his brows, trying to understand the predicament. "Eheh, wellllll... maybe I can live to serve you some time Butler Boy?" There was a wink at the end of it as she retreated her hand from his lips. Registering all that, he came to one conclusion about this lady. A revelation so stunning it could bring Atlas to his knees and the skies crashing down on itself.

This girl in the skimpy clothing and piercings all over her face...

She was...

A maid too... amazing.

Klaus smile widened even further as the devilish grin on the former expanded just as well. "You should invite me over some time miss," Klaus explained with a tinge of glee, the girl do nothing, aside from taking one step forward. "We would get there and-"

"And do what?" She began playing with he ring piercing on her lips, staring deeply into Klaus' eyes. That was strange... the way he observed her... she didn't appear to have the qualities of a maid, but something else; a temptress of sorts. "And discuss techniques empirical to serving anyone as a butler and or maid. I mean, you are a maid, are you not?" His eyes became sharper at that question. There was something off and he was certain her next words would give Klaus some evidence.

"... yes, of course I'm a maid," she awkwardly laughed with her response.

"You shouldn't lie to others, m'lady," he shot out coldly, much to the woman's surprise. The air around him became a little frigid due to his response as his excited voice became chilly to feel with that. There were some traces of disappointment in his breath, but at this point, there was no reason to discuss this.

"Enough of this discussion, but miss, could you mind telling me a bit about "The City of the Dead" field trip as it looks quite ravishing... but yet everyone seems to suspect it of something else."

The recovering woman snapped out of that jazz, wanting to retort against the boy as she straightened a finger at his chest, but to no avail, it just drooped. She grew silent for a moment before responding. "That mission? Yeah, I'm not too exactly sure about it, but..." She jabbed a finger at it, staring at it as if it was cursed parchment. "I trust it as much as the next guy here... sorry bud, but I would advertise against it for ya." With that said, she went to ignore his existence, even after the purple adorned teen bowed and spoke of a thank you towards her.

Scooting his way out of the crowd, there was some exchange that he did not acquire as they seemed to all burst into laughter upon it. Klaus warranted it for a second before departing from the mixture of people, though he didn't attempt to enter the rabble crowding around the latter bulletin board like vultures scavenging for scraps.

"City of the Dead... the apprentice of a dragon god and the apprentice of an archetype..." He really wanted to go, but would the others who he could find company with be as accepting? That lingering doubt in his mind never faltered, especially when he pondered again on the worthless situation in the cafeteria. "Two puppets, cajoled and twisted by many puppet meisters... hm..."

So many questions, such little time to answer either of them...

Readjusting his gloves, he looked towards the masses. Should he solicit one of these students for a venture into an auspiciously named place? Find more information about this so called dragon god and that girl who was an apprentice of an archetype? They seemed liked peculiar people... plus he never heard of them, much less on the former.

Thoughts shot through his mind as he stood there, tapping his lip with his gloved thumb.

Leo would be startled at Alex's sudden change in tone when asked about his powers, but the boy wisely - very wisely - decided to drop the subject and said:

"All right, we can just get going." A nod at that to the white-haired boy; Leo was not going to inquire after such a sensitive topic like his Magic.

Then, at Charles' question, Leo tapped his chin, as though wondering what to say to that. Should he say that he was trying to help Charles because he'd been abandoned, like he was? Would saying that be courteous and not rude? Or should he say that he just wanted to help, without elaborating why? Would that also be good? Finally, Leo would settle for:

"Because you needed help. Because you look like someone who deserved help and won't throw it back."

I...Thank you, Headmaster, Leo thought as he gave a slight bow. He planned to do what was recommended; if Daniel was in potential danger, Leo would send a message to him telling him of said potential danger immidiately after the trip with Charles and Alex was over. A smile at that...the Headmaster was an awesome and wise person, not omniscent, as people say, but good enough at what he did that he seemed such.

He looked at Rose and Sergei; he'd known those two guides since childhood, and may or may have not teased them about their relationship a long time ago. They made a cute couple, the same sort of couple Leo wished he and Daniel could be one day. Looking at the master's tower, however, the eighteen-year old boy couldn't help but think: Nothing lasts forever; the Headmaster knows that.

Then, he thought of a project he wanted to try out, a project that he wanted to do with Lee, the Nature Mage, in the academy's forest. It seemed he was going to have to visit the Headmaster's tower again, soon.

Which was probably good; Headmaster Niccolo was a wise person.

"Thank you Miss Polyanna for giving me the chance of going to the field trip." he said, excited. Although he wouldn't be able to use his magic, he surely would be able to learn a lot in that field trip. He was disappointed he wouldnt be able to conduct his experiments... but at least he would be able to go too.

"I wont disappoint you regarding my room. I promise you." he said, with a respectful bow.

His expression changed after the things Polyanna said to him.
As the heavy silence fell, he understood that if there were people inside... they would probably be dead now.

"I'm aware of that Miss Polyanna. I promise i wont take much more of your time than i already have. But allow me say one last thing." he said with a serious expression.

"You know my story. You surely know that i am alone. I was always alone. I may not understand about living in society, but one thing i understand is the extent of my powers. I can understand the destruction and irreparable damage it can cause if i'm not very careful. I dont know the exact amount of the destructive capabilities of my abilities, nor i wish to. Mindless destruction is something that goes against the logic, against the way that the reality works." he said.

"Its true, i never had anyone to protect until now, nor had anyone that i wished harm. I can't say that i know how it feels to "hate" something or be "angry". But recently, i've been experiencing some emotions that still puzzle me... Strong emotions that i've never felt before. Maybe it would be better if they just remained dormant... I dont know if i will be able to maintain control if something bad happens to L... If i lose control." he said.

"I can assure you that i will be more mindful of the others before taking such risks. I would certainly hate to put others' life at stake because of me. But at the same time, you must understand that we can only learn by taking risks. Not only me, but every other student needs to take a certain amount of risk in order to progress." he said, giving a respectful bow before turning his back, heading towards the door.

"Thank you, Polyanna. I'm really grateful for this talk. I may know a lot about magic, but emotions are still something that i'm inexperienced with. The truth is... I fear some of those emotions... I dont know what it would happen if i come to hate someone, or feel anger... When something like that happens, i hope i can come ask you for some advices. As i said, i'm taking my leave now. I believe i've already taken too much of your time." he said with a smile on his face. Polyanna was frightening sometimes, but she wasnt a bad person. That talk made Viktor see her with new eyes.

With a heartfelt smile and a respectful bow, Viktor closed the door. He had already taken too much of her time, and Polyanna was most certainly a busy woman.

Viktor walked to the corridors, heading to his "new temporary room". Maybe meet with his roommates, introduce himself... It was never a bad idea to try to have a good relationship with the ones who you would share your room with.

On his way to the room, a rather... exotic sight caught his attention.
Purple hair, eyes and very, very formal attire stood out in the midst of the other students, tapping his lips with his immaculately white gloves.

Something like that was surely very unusual... Was he a new student? Maybe with that clothes he was someone's assistant?

Stopping for a moment to satiate his curiosity, he greeted the strange man with a slight bow, resuming to walk his path afterwards.

Charles would look at the various things they was showed during the tour the various specialty shops among other things. Even the Dueling grounds and cemetery. He would get a confused look when they spoke about them "What is Dueling..... What is a cemetery?" he would ask. When they arrived at the head master's tower he would watch the building feeling the magic coming off of it from the various spells casted on the tower. He would wonder why he felt such things. He would be slightly surprised when the headmaster showed up and started to speak to them, though he'd get confused at some of the things he talked about. He would nod when the headmaster spoke directly to him about finding the answers he was seeking. Who is he, What is he, Where did he come from, Did he have a family, all of these thoughts quickly raced through his own head when he thought of what he was seeking. He would look at the other two then at their guides "..what is a Fiance?" he would ask again confused. He wasn't thinking of using the book that Leo gave him for various reasons, one he didn't know what exactly was in the book, or what page each thing was on, and he figured it be quicker to just ask those with him for the answers to his questions, granted no one had answered him when he asked about the lion on his new clothes.

Leo blinked at Charles' questions, and asked one of his own.

"Why don't I teach you to use your book, so that you can find out the answers to your questions yourself?" the young man would say, before sighing. Charles clearly had complete amnesia, able to speak only because of residual memories that weren't that strong. "That said, though, dueling is when two people fight one-on-one, although in this case, killing isn't an option, and a cemetery is where dead people are buried. A fiance is someone you marry, and marrying, or marriage, is when you bind yourself to someone you love who isn't related to you."

Either way, if Charles permitted, Leo would crouch down to the guy's level and show him how to use the dictionary...

Alex let out a sigh as they reached the head masters tower. The boy lie down on his back looking up to the tip top so that he could see all of its entirety at once. The boy knew once he had perfected twleportation reaching the top of this tower would be the first thing he wished to do. Depression slowly and secretly fell over the boy as he lie there. He felt alone outside the confines of his head. Leo didn't seem to care about much and it appeared that Charlie didn't really know anything at all.

Alex let out a small chuckle as he lie there and closed his eyes. His eyes closed and his scars began to pulsate. He felt the magical seals wash over him and he could almost feel the materials that made up the barriers. Everything in the world was made of such simple elements anything and everything could be dome with ease. It didn't take a genious to see the flaws in the barriers.... Or maybe it did and he was just able to see such things. Tho him this was unimportant. The people of this school believed that their barriers we're flawless and he didn't want to change these thoughts.

Opening his eyes from his long thought process which probably went on longer than he expected he looked around. Seeing that others we're occupied he smiled. He was sort of happy no one had made notice of him quite yet as he closed his eyes again feeling the pulsations in his arms from magical activity. @Letter Bee@olcharlieboi@TheHangedMan

Charles would look at Leo as he explained things, then looked at him sideways as he tried to show Charles how to use the Dictionary, but Charles would mostly be confused since he doesn't understand much about the book besides what he was told earlier. Also finding how slow it is to search for things in the book slightly agitated him, if he didn't know what a word was, he wasn't certain if he could find it in the dictionary from how much there was in it. He would look at the golem that's been sitting on his shoulder with a raised brow, which the golem would return the gesture before looking back at Leo. The golem would then climb on top of Charles' head and sits down.
