The human race is evolving once again. New newest evolution gives humans amazing and spectacular abilities. Unfortunately evolution is slow so the mutated human are out number but the regular humans. Because of their small numbers these mutants must work together to survive. The government has built a 'facility' for these mutants. In the facility they will be free to pursue whatever goals interest them. The catch is that they will be studied and sent out to protect the ordinary.

His parents just accepted that much and began to raise him. But one day in middle school when he was home, they couldn't handle him any more. He was found in his room, his room solid ice, the boy sitting in there happily. His parents reacted in fear, and quickly made a plan. It was said that they were going on a surprise vacation. They took a plane several states away and got a hotel. His parents told him they would be back soon and went out to get food.
Only, they never came back. They left Ryan there at the hotel. He left the hotel afterwards, quickly falling to a life of crime to stay alive, having no way to get back on his feet he joined a gang. He was delving deeper into a hole that he wouldn't be able to get out of. However, his option to get out came in the way of men in ties. They took him to the facility, knowing that he couldn't just be kept in a regular prison due to his powers, and so why not use his powers for their own good? He took the option, knowing one of the only other options would be him dying.

But one day when Aya was 6 she threw a temper tantrum because she wasn't getting her way, and broke all the glass inside of their house, making the family move once more. It also alerted the Government to her. After that Aya was scared, she didn't know why she was what she was. But as she grew her mother explained things to her and made her feel like she wasn't a monster. At 15 Aya realized why she was home schooled and why she was different, so she decided that she was still going to be her. She decided not to be afraid because people didn't understand her powers. At 17 Aya started looking for a job and found one as a dj, it was a way to use her powers without hurting anyone or making it obvious what she was doing. A year after Aya got a job, her mother died. It devastated Aya but she wasn't going to let it stop her from being herself. She kept herself in one place for to long though and the Government found her and threw her in the facility. Not without a fight though.

Dominated creatures exert the same energy field as Saphire does, and are permanently linked to Saphire, allowing her to use them to increase her range beyond a meter or two. The fields can overlap, which increases her power, meaning that the more minds she dominates and gets in a single area, the more powerful she can become. However, any damage inflicted upon a dominated creature translates into psychic pain for Saphire due to the same mental link that allows Saphire to control them, and see through their eyes. In sufficient quantities, this mental pain could potentially kill her.

Eventually, Saphire learned to create small illusions, and wanted to show this off to their parents, as she'd never managed to do something like that before. However, her parents, rejecting the concept of mutants, instead believed that Saphire had, in fact, been demonically possessed, and was showing powers she was not meant to have.
Her parents tried everything on Saphire. Excorcism, re-baptism, forced prayer, beatings, nothing worked. What she does remember is when her parents tried to bring back their child with kindness.
