@Lucius Cypher That's some great research that you did but I can't help but feel that it applies much more thoroughly to our world than it does to Remnant. You are right, we're lacking on a number of critical details regarding the Faunus/Human Wars but it seems to me that the lens your looking at it through doesn't exactly reflect Remnant all that well. The Faunus Rights War is also called the Faunus Rights Revolution which indicates that it wasn't about one kingdom or all kingdoms vs the faunus in another location. While there was large scale deportation to Menagerie it seems more likely that the faunus forces would have began in the kingdoms not dissimilar to what the White Fang does in present day. Attacks of terror, deprivation of resources, all aimed at making the human administration believe that it was less work to just give the faunus' the same rights as everyone else rather than keep oppressing them.

In that vein of thought the war probably didn't consist of traditional battles but more likely strikes on both sides, the faunus aiming where it would hurt the humans the most and the humans aiming at rebel bases. I'm not saying that there wouldn't have been faunus and humans fighting on the opposite side to their species, in all likelihood their would be faunus sympathizers who got rewards for betraying their people and then either corrupt or righteous humans who would help the faunus secretly either for money or because they thought it was the right thing to do. If the treatment of the less progressive minds shown on the show is any indication faunus were considered expendable to the point that butchering them on a large scale wouldn't have made any of the humans bat an eye. This isn't necessarily all true but if even some of the lager points are then it doesn't foster an environment where anyone would care to create a relief organization that more than just humans or how a faunus could have the kind of precision medicals skills your doctor has been implied to possess. The impression I got was that faunus were little better off than the blacks in slave period America. At that point it would have been a miracle for a black person to be literate let alone have any sort of trade experience outside of physical labor.

But with an upcoming episode dealing with Blake's return to Menagerie I'm hoping more details will be included.

I need some clarification from Lucius so I can gauge how Sapphire'll react to the faunus war related stuff.

Lucius Cypher Looking For Group

@Prince of Seraphs

It's not as if the organization she joined was going to be as big as our real world Peace Corps. Admittedly her organization is likely a very small one, and despite the relief she provides if real life is any indication, a large group of angry people will be more than angry at peaceful groups who only want to stop people from dying. The doctor is something of an anomaly since she hates war and just wants to stop the fighting, and thus joined other like-minded individuals to heal the wounded and try to, inadvertently, shorten the amount of people involved in violent protest. She does this by saving their life and then telling others that they cannot fight due to their wounds, which need further medical treatment to preform.

Now, while it may see odd for such a peaceful group to rise up during such dark times, don't think that the world is so cynical that it can't happen. As I mentioned in in my last wall o text, the doctor was not an independent medical practitioner with a completely unbiased opinion about war, but came from a church. And while we like to believe or joke about the corrupting influence major religions can have on people, don't forget that a lot of humanitarian organizations and such typically had their beginnings as church groups wanting to provide benign assistance to whoever is suffering. And while I don't know how big religion is in the RWBYverse, I think it'd be safe to say that there is some sort of religion, and at least one of those religions may say something along the lines of "Killing is bad, you should help people instead". And sure, while a lot of people will kill for the very same religion, that doesn't mean there doesn't exist those who actually try to uphold the tenet of not killing people and trying to save them, regardless if they're friend or foes. I like to think that the doctor Gren speaks about is similarly religious, though perhaps jaded after all she's witness.

I'd also like to mention that the doctor I spoke to was not Anti-War either, or at least, he was a patriot who believed that spreading American Ideals would be best, and educating other worlds to share those ideas is the best thing to do. But that didn't mean he approved of spreading those ideas through violence, which was why his protest against the Vietnam War involved going over there and treating any wounded that came through his door, because when you're rich and white you're able to do stuff like that. It was also why he was so big on Americanizing the refugees who came over who, while I'll admit I'm saying this with my own words instead of his, believed that the culture of the refugees coming over was outdated and backwards. At the very least, he believed that America's beliefs were better.

Now as for how this doctor obtained these skills, I'll admit that again it involves using information I have no real access to. I can't even use my report as an example, as the doctor who I spoke to was an old white man who's family has a history of being doctors (though his grandfather was instead a radio operator in WW2) , and were quite wealthy even before he earned his degree. I'd like to think that this doctor was born and raised in Atlus, perhaps adopted by an eccentric but wealthy man who had a fancy for faunas. If that seems too convenient, we could always go the Blake route and say that she had to hide her appearance the entire time, perhaps even mutilating herself in order to hide any faunas features she had just for the chance to make a better life for herself. Though I feel that this is too edgy. Also just so you know, this was the same doctor that Gren sent Pops too. Just an FYI, since Pops is kept under careful watch, though he is not a prisoner, simply another doctor doing his business while handling some research on the side. And with the doctor taking so many faunas patients, he has plenty of people who may want to volunteer for his study.

Point is that the doctor had the skills, and had the naive idea that she could use those skills to help people and maybe make the world into a better place. Only the more she tried, the more she realized that no, she can't use her skills to make the world better. She could only make the pain stop, and now is a jaded, bitchy doctor who really doesn't like Gren, the White Fang, or anyone who's main job involves any variant of "Killing" or "Slaying". But that doesn't mean she still doesn't try to save lives or make them better when she can. She's still good after all, she's just not very nice about it.

It's probably in everyone's best interests that I drop. It was fun.

Added some stuff to make his suit more unique, and described his fighting style and semblance in more detail.

<Snipped quote by Silvan Haven>

Good question. Given its size, I'd say it can be compacted (what with how crazy unfolding/folding mechanisms can be in RWBY) into a smaller size roughly the size of two helmets, but not much smaller. He could carry it in a backpack (which would take up most of the space) though given any indication of needing to go on a mission, he'd probably just put it on beforehand and wear it throughout.

You could also go with a belt that has a bun of "pouches" on it. I think physics can be RWBY fudged enough to fit a folding suit of armor like that.

On the contrary; I think that your character was one of the RP's most beloved. I am sorry that you can't find it in yourself to continue, but I'm glad you enjoyed what time you did share with us, and I thank you for your valuable contribution to our story. Farewell.

That's great reasoning but I don't think you're taking into account one major issue. This wasn't a war in the traditional sense, it wasn't about land or resources, it was a race war. Race wars start when a minority is viewed as subhuman by a dominant group. Because of this they are either deported, killed or used for hard labor until the inevitable revolt occurs. The atmosphere of Remnant at the time would have been one in which a faunus life was comparable to that of livestock, an exploitable resource that was entirely expendable but useful. I mean the name they gave to the place they started deporting the faunus is a synonym for Zoo, doesn't that tell you anything about the faunus' status in prewar Remnant? Imagine if after Nazi Germany started dispensing with the Jewish people, the Jews organized and formed a resistance to fight back. That's the impression of the Faunus Wars I got. In that environment a relief organization that aided both sides should logically be shut down for giving aid to terrorists, and its members branded as sympathizers to enemies of the state.

Most of that makes some amount of sense I suppose. As long as it wasn't a common thing and she's one of the few that actually managed to get an education. The self mutilation to pass as human while kind of dark sounds a lot more realistic compared to the alternative.

There's one other issue, I realize a direct timeline wasn't given for when the Faunus Rights War was but given the lack of inherent racism in the elder generation of the RWBY cast I sort of got the impression that it would have been the grandparents of Ruby's generation that fought. Is there anything in the show that could help specify the time?
