Begin: Chapter 1


In the sleepy coastal town of Sandpoint, evil is brewing. An attack by crazed goblins during the annual Swallowtail Festival quickly turns into something more ominous as the shadows of a dark past come back to haunt the town—and perhaps all of Varisia. Can the heroes stop the awakening of a legendary runelord and keep him from reclaiming his lost kingdom of greed?

Players:

Rules for Character Creation:

  • Starting at level 1
  • 20 point-buy for stats
  • First level is full HP from hit dice; subsequent levels will require rolling
  • Leadership feat banned
  • Player's Guide to Rise of the Runelords setting
  • Please post sheets on Mythweaver and link to here
  • Your DM is new to the system, so please keep that in mind if something gets abruptly banned

...could you use more than those 5? I would be very happy to assist. >.> Last time I tried this one, the group fell apart due to...differences of opinion. Still friends with most of them, though (just not the GM, though I dun remember the GM, so may be now?). And I already like Grey. <.< Dunno if the feeling is mutual, though. ^//^

Then again, I'm not entirely sure what's allowed (especially in terms of third party stuff, but if I say I tend to like anything by Dreamscarred Press, would that help? Specifically Path of War stuffs, which tends to be on the same level as the Paladin in terms of power and versatility)...and I'm saying a lot of stuff for a new GM to take in, AND I'm saying this without even knowing if it's open for new people. ><

@Ermine@knighthawk We've actually had a few drops, so these three are the party right now - so we have room for you both! I'd prefer we stick with whatever can be found on the paizo website since I'm a new GM and can't easily find the third-party stuff around here, sorry!

I'll leave links to the pages in the notes on mine if that helps~ It's all on the d20pfsrd site. Nice and easy to find. I've already almost finished the character (because it was a "just in case" thing; would have made her regardless of whether you said yes). You can look it over and read stuff and I'll make it nice and easy for you~ Actually deliberately picked one of the Path of War classes that's less complicated for that very reason. Going human for race, so that's nice and easy. ^~^

Path of War stuff is basically the same thing as divine casting, just instead of a holy symbol (which mine has anyway), you have to use a certain weapon. Stances work just like the style feats.

But if you want, I can go all Paizo stuff~

Harbinger is closer to super edgelord magus. Semi-monk (and semi-rogue) would be Stalker. Monk comment was about personality and look.

Edit: Oh no, I breakeded it. ;~;
Edit2: Sigh. I really don't want to play a Harbinger. I'd rather play a Mystic. But they take so much extra work, what with their randomly determined abilities EVERY TURN. (Which is also why I like them, coincidentally. Well, that, and their abilities are exactly like Weiss Schnee, with glyphs and elemental weapons and everything). I'll still play a Harbinger, since I made this character and everything, and they're less complicated.
(Mystics are also closer to mages, as close as one can get without playing one. And I like mages. And then we wouldn't have so many warrior types. OR I could go Stalker and be the rogue type we need. Linked them in case you would prefer ones that don't make optimizations-sensitive GMs uncomfortable.)

...well, screw me. tl;dr - Dad's in the hospital, between prepping the house for a wheelchair (likely permanent) and taking over household chores, proooobably no time for GMing a new major long-lasting project like this. @Ermine@knighthawk@Fubsy@Grey@Asura if you know anyone who can take over, you can tell them I can give them the materials for running this.

I wish I did, now. >< Sucks to have to do that. Similar stuff for me a lot recently (with mum and girlfriend), so if you need to talk or anything, I can. Because, you know, I have to try to SOUND helpful.

@RBYDark OMFG for someone I totally considered dating at one point (that didn't go so well, but at the same time went the best way it could; long story, not saying more), he takes FOREVER to reply to me on Skype or Discord. >< (Well, I take forever to reply on Discord, too, so not going to count that part against him). Anyway, no answer yet on whether he'll run this. And still not TOO hopeful he will; pretty sure he's running another one already, and as someone running (about to run?) two PF games myself, I understand if he says no (and that's also why I'm not offering; I've also never run PF before ^//^ And D&D was only on 2E when I DM'd it. Most of the other games I GM are...well, they have less convoluted rules or focus less on combat (itself something that I'd prefer)), but he's a good GM and if he says yes, this RP will be well taken-care-of in your absence.

Wow. That all kinda came out at once. <.<

So. A friend of mines came to me to ask if I could run this game for you as the GM. I'm fairly familiar with Pathfinder, so I have most of the mechanical crunch down. I don't have access to the Runelord books however. I may also include some new rulings, homebrewing, and other such things. General rule of thumb, show me evidence and I might support it. No guarantees. For homebrewing I'm much stricter. But otherwise I'm willing to give this a shot for as long as I can, all the way to the end.

@Ermine Well, I appreciate your effort, and am very grateful c: Though, lucky for us all, I managed to get in contact with someone thans to @Nytem4re! @Lucius Cypher is, in fact, my successor as GM and needs some time to look over the materials and sheets again but this should get rolling in a reasonable timeframe.

@Grey@Fubsy@Asura keep in mind, your sheets may require fixing as Lucius understands the system better than I do and may spot problems I missed. Though everything should be fine.
@Ermine, I hate to say this as the last thing to you, and so want to start off with - the concept for your character is really, really cool, and I appreciate that. I also appreciate all the links to help with my understanding. However, it's a little overwhelming to learn, and most of my research would indicate it might require altering NPCs within the campaign to better match the power level brought about by maneuvers. Which, if it were a homebrew campaign, would admittedly be a lot easier in the first place, since I would've created the NPCs and would know who might fit the class flavors best, and who deserves what maneuvers and who deserves the sudden power boost. Think there's anything on the Paizo website class-wise you might also like?
