What? I thought only Tracer is confirmed to be gay/lesbian. Fanon=/=Canon
With the way Blizzard is right now, and how fans are pushing it, Mei/Zarya/Roadhog/Reaper/Pharah/Mercy/Lucio are also going to be gay and Junkrat/Genji/S76 are bi. The game is a 'Political Correctness' simulator after all and in 2017 its profits are projected to plummit so they'll probably be doing PC stuff to keep the fans going. Not many straight chars after all of those are gone.
My only problem is that there aren't very many mainstream 'tomboy' strong straight females or main protagonists like Tracer (Also in general, rip Samus T.T) due to writers having a hard time figuring out what such an active girl would find attractive in a guy, which since its being painted as the only option for active girls by the media, doesn't turn out well (just like the 70s-90s girls only like muscle guys sorta thing.). Meanwhile they don't give guys the same treatment, who are the ones that ACTUALLY need the gay character help far far more as that group is disliked far more than gay girls for some reason.
I wouldn't be so mad if it wasn't for the fact that people tend to say a girl is gay just because they're active and not 'girly' in media in general (And even then if they're girly they're still called gay due to being active and doing things unless they specifically are shown to be straight). Meanwhile gay guys aren't shown in as great of a light via steriotypes. Which is really bad steriotyping and double standard stuff.
TBH its a bigger problem than that due to the sheer lack of variety for female characters, and the 'active' ones being painted gay by either the creators or the fans unless explicitly called straight due to societal norms. And Gay male characters hardly exist at all outside of RPGs, and they're only that way due to interacting with the player who can be either gender. But thats a whole other philosiphy thing thats even worse but wont get as much attention because girls are more interesting to talk about in the media than guys Unless its about violence, which is an even worse problem.
But a few friends of mine pointed out that at least in the past 5 years there were some pretty good supporting cast strong females so I'm more mad at the lack of gay guys in general and that whole steriotype that active girl = gay unless specifically specified otherwise. I don't even know where that started. I'm guessing the 90s?
Man I'd really like some personal issues to worry over than this stuff. But can't do much when your a shut-in. You guys are nice people to talk to though. <3
