Looking for 3-4 people for a low fantasy NRP. Only current rules are that you can deliver on these three points.

Interactivity
Everybody's favorite part of RPing is reading other people's takes on their creation in the form of a reply. The geographical constraints used in NRPs often end up with limited interaction, which leads to thread death. Solution? Everybody has characters in everybody else's regions at once, so everyone will be juggling a few plots.

Imagination
Without pulling punches here, another reason a lot of NRPs die is because one of the players has put less effort into their nation, which frustrates the players who are next to that nation whose interactions are mostly with the literally lesser-developed nation, so they become less excited about posting, which leads to stagnation, which leads to thread death. Don't be that guy.

Dedication
The last reason NRPs tend to dwindle? People get bored! By submitting interest, you're not promising you won't ever get bored with this RP, but you are promising you will try really hard to vocalize your opinions on the RP and not drop off the face of the planet. Sometimes the days between posts accidentally become a week and it feels awkward to ask if anyone else is still there -- I've been guilty of this myself at times -- but this time, let's all just try to at least shoot the shit in the OOC to make sure nobody's silently dropped out.

Other than that, there's very little I have in mind, I don't want to ask for too much off the bat. If anyone's interested, let me know which of these three plots you'd prefer.

Frozen NRP: The scale of the planet on the map we're using is much bigger, so our continent is relatively small and very far north. Characters will have relatively Scandinavian naming conventions, drink mead, wear fur, and probably fight with axes. Think Vikings.

Temperate NRP: The scale of the planet is twice as big as the continent we're using, so the north ends at the north pole and the south ends at the equator. Characters will have relatively Western naming conventions, drink wine, wear tunics, and probably fight with swords. Think Game of Thrones.

Expansive NRP: The scale of the planet is the map we're using, so both poles are visible. Every country has a drastically different culture due to their size and distance. Characters will have all kinds of naming conventions, drink, dress, and fight differently. I don't think there are any shows that go to this scale. Marco Polo, I guess? Rome?

You have my interest. I like the idea of the expansive NRP, but possible on the scale of a smaller map size.

I'd be up for expansive roleplay if there's an antique touch to it. And lastly, I think Carthage should be destroyed.

Expansive as well.

I may be too busy to get involved with this, however, but I would like to let you know I'm here and interested.

I was all for this until it was button-holed into this is either 'vikings' or 'game of thrones'. I think there should be a unifying mother culture ala Rome or Greece or China or whatever, but this should be of our own invention. Cooperating on building a proto civilization would hit all three of your playing points, collaboration, creativity and dedication.

I believe that's exactly what the "Expansive" choice is for: we each create "our own invention". That's why all but one person has said Expansive.

2 votes for Temeperate.

0 votes for the nordic bullshit

@DeadBeatWalking
I want to know this as well.

DeadBeat called this Low Fantasy, but as some of you probably know, that's a little vague. Primarily because there are two main definitions of "Low Fantasy" floating around the internet.

Low Fantasy definition numero uno.
The first is almost identical to any other fantasy, but magic is weaker or rarer. This would allow elves, dwarves, etc. Just so long as they don't go using magic to fly, or summoning giant snakes, or anything of the such. Magic is there and magic is used regularly, but it's not world-shockingly powerful or unfair. A good test for this is to ask yourself: could a nation with no magic or non-humans survive... or even "win"? If the answer is yes, but non-human nations exist and magic is still a regular thing, then it fits into this definition of Low Fantasy.

Low Fantasy definition numero... uh, two.
The second definition is more extreme, and is usually found in hardcore history buffs who just occasionally read Game of Thrones: there are only a few races other than humans, and they are normally distant or uncommon. Used only as occasional plot devices. Furthermore, the culture in this sort of LF is highly based on real cultures, especially medieval feudalism. It's basically a medieval fiction but sometimes someone uses really limited magic strictly for the sake of plot development.

I've seen Low Fantasy RPs and nations using both of those definitions, and both can be fun/successful, but it still matters a lot what the GM has in mind when he/she tells us we'll be a Low Fantasy RP.

@Jeyma @Dynamo Frokane
Low Fantasy dos! Humans only, minor magic if it helps the plot in the far-off corners of the world, but otherwise it's not really a thing.

Also, just a heads-up to the interested: I'm looking for a new map to have an NRP on a larger scale, since one giant Pangaea-landmass doesn't exactly beget a myriad of different cultures. The base continent will be mostly European in culture to satisfy those into the Temperate setting idea, and a few far-off smaller continents for those who want to play a different kind of peoples.

EDIT: [@Everyone] so while i look for this map, feel free to start giving me an idea of what you've got in mind so i know how far to space these continents.

We/You can also make your own map with Inkarnate. It's free.

I am interested in this if it's low fantasy and you guys are doing the expansive idea. And if we can save areas for our nation, I call this island and some of the main land.
