Name: Vitruvia Procyon

Gender: Female

Role/Order: Battle Sister, Order of Our Thrice-Pierced Martyr

Personal Demeanour: Vitruvia is stoic and reserved, with a burning hatred for the heretic. Not that she doesn't hate the xenos or the forces of Chaos, but the thought of a human turning their back on the God Emperor fills her with rage. She seems a prototypical member of the Adepta Sororitas at first glance but her stoic demeanor hides her dry sense of humor.

Speciality: Raised from a childhood inside the Schola Progenium her physical gifts were evident early on. Intensive reprogramming installed the seeds of fanaticism during her formative years and brutal training sessions built the foundation of elite hand-to-hand and precision accuracy. The child of two heavy worlders Vitruvia is tall, and exceptionally athletic. She specializes in the use of a Godwyn-De'az Pattern bolter, bolt pistol and chainsword.

Rank: Standard battle sister, but with eyes on ascending to the rank of Celestian.

Description: Descended from a long line of heavy worlders Vitruvia is very tall and athletically built under her standard issue power armor. Her back is heavily scarred from intense self-flagellation and her hands are criss-crossed from many hours of close combat training with blades, to prepare her to face the enemies of the God Emperor with chainsword in hand. Like many sisters she bleaches her hair white and wears a bobcut. Fair skinned and blue eyed she has the harsh, heavy boned facial features typical of her home planet due to its high gravity.

Her power armor is typical of members of her order; black with gold trim and white partial sleeves and skirt. It does, however, boast more rounded shoulder plates and numerous nicks and grooves in its black ceramite surface, as it is an older model that has outlived many of its wearers. Vitruvia is rarely seen without her helm, either tucked under her arm in times of relative safety or snugly atop her head. Its thermal vision, flash and concussive shock protection, atmospheric filter and cerimate armor have saved her life several times.

History: Vitruvia is the firstborn daughter of two nobles upon a heavy world whose population consisted mostly of serfs who worked the dangerous task of digging into the earth and mining the rare metals created by the abnormally high gravity. It was brutal, backbreaking labor and serfs were frequently worked to death to meet neigh impossible quotas or crushed in horrific accidents caused by the intense demand to provide materials for the nearby Forge Worlds.

Although no effort was spared to inspire the lowly born to the righteousness of their work some malcontents proved resistant to the daily sermons that blared through the mines. A revolt ensued. Making such ridiculous demands as 'wages' and 'days off' they soon made it clear to the righteous nobility that their cause was both absurd and an affront to the God Emperor. Public executions, however, failed to restore the flagging moral of the PDF or curb the growing heresy engulfing the planet. Tragically the Emperor fearing nobility were overwhelmed and executed by the rampaging mobs spreading across the mining-cities, Vitruvia's parents among them. Declared martyrs for personally taking up arms in the name of the God Emperor and denouncing heresy even as they were being led to the pyre Vitruvia was taken into the Schola Progenium as the child of martyrs after the reconquest and purge.

There she excelled, taking to the physical training with exuberance and demonstrating a surprising athletic talent while also scoring highly on marksmanship. Receptive to mental programming during her formative years she was instilled with a love of the God Emperor and a burning hatred for heretics of all stripes. Shipped off to the Order of Our Thrice-Pierced Martyr immediately upon graduation she was further indoctrinated into the Faith and trained to fulfill the duties of a battle sister. As always she excelled in, and enjoyed, her training and soon found herself donning power armor for the first time.

Though talented Vitruvia has seen little action. A few operations to clear nests of heretics in the sprawling hives of nearby worlds and one hair raising cleansing of xenos in the burned out husk of a Rogue Trader's ship is the most real combat she has tasted.

Equipment and Armament: She wears a sturdy chainsword with adamantine teeth at one hip and a bolt pistol at the other. Her Godwyn-De'az bolter is adorned with a scope that provides variable magnification and range finder. Vitruvia is also fond of drum magazines containing 60 rounds rather than the typical 30 and carries one in her bolter and two more on the small of her back.

Aside from her combat equipment she also carries the robes of her order for use when out of armor, a weeks combat rations, a dataslate with various hymns and sermons and a whip for self-flagellation.

Name: Battle-Sister Lisbeth Dominicia

Gender: Female

Role/Order: Militant, Order of our Thrice-Pierced Martyr

Personal Demeanour: Above all else, Lisbeth is an embodiment of the inner peace that comes from a life spent in His service. She can almost always be found with a quiet smile, satisfied with the knowledge that her God-Emperor is near. In the presence of her sisters or the ranks of the faithful, Lisbeth is warm, eager to share her love of the Emperor and always willing to help those in need. Unfortunately, her earnestness sometimes overreaches her abilities, and she has yet to realise that there are times when the most helpful thing she can do is to shut up and mind her own business.

Away from the company of other people, Sister Lisbeth bears a much darker manner. She is constantly haunted by the fear of failing Him, paralysed by a sense of responsibility for the souls of Mankind. Her chaplet ecclesiasticus rattles loudly with each step, because each night is spent in contemplation of her failure to bring the Imperial Creed to as many people as possible, no matter how her day has been spent; there is always something Lisbeth can decide she must atone for.

Fortunately, Battle-Sister Dominicia is never alone - her connection to the Emperor extends beyond the purely spiritual attachment all right-thinking humans feel. Lisbeth believes that the voices she hears in her head are the direct manifestation of the God-Emperor, and their presence gives her solace amidst all the guilt. It is by their instruction that she commits acts of ritual penance, and it is by their presence that she knows that she is beloved of the God-Emperor.

Speciality: Lisbeth has spent all of her adult life in service of the Emperor; since she was old enough to strip a boltgun, she was been preparing to defend the Order and the Emperor's faithul children in the Librae sector. There is no firearm she is not trained in, from the humble bolt pistol to the holy multi-melta, but above all others Lisbeth is most comfortable in doing His service with her boltgun.

Rank: Battle-Sister

Description: Battle-Sister Lisbeth Dominicia was originally extracted from a hive on Artaxerxes Epsilon, a vastly overpopulated world overrun with disease, famine and pollution. As such, when she was admitted to the Scholae Progenium, she was one of the scrawniest, stringiest progenia, and even amongst the stringently-regulated environment within the Scholae's walls, there was time for the other progenia to bully and trash the smallest and weakest students.

Lisbeth found two sources of solace; the Imperial Creed, and physical training. While she remains a short woman, her dedication to disciplined training means that she has a broad, muscular body, with little fat, and despite her small stature she holds herself with a confident, bold air, secure that her regimen and her faith in the God-Emperor of Mankind can carry her through any trials.

Sister Dominicia is rarely seen without a smile; she has a kind heart, and while the discipline of the Order of Our Thrice-Pierced Martyr is fierce, it has not been able to quash the quiet joy she finds in serving the God-Emperor. Her eyes are a light gray, and she wears her ginger hair in a short ponytail. She has been fortunate enough to avoid scarring so far, and the only distinguishing mark is a large fleur-de-lis tattoo, about the size of a child's hand, centred around her left eye.

History: After the chemical and psychological scrubbing of her earliest memories, Lisbeth has no recollection of her early childhood. Her parents were both low-ranking officers in the Astra Militarum, lost with the destruction of their regiment on the eastern fringe. From her first introduction into the Scholae Progenium, Lisbeth took quickly to the scripture and lessons of the Ecclesiarchy's representatives. The stories of how the Emperor sacrificed unimaginable amounts for His children captivated her, and the parables of how the God-Emperor directs Mankind to their inevitable destiny as rulers of all by His side were accepted, word-for-word, verbatim.

When she was old enough to leave the Scholae, there was no question of Lisbeth going anywhere but the Ecclesiarchy. The Order of our Thrice-Pierced Martyr was a natural home for Lisbeth, a life dedicated to serving the Emperor through protection of pilgrims and the holy artifacts left by the Emperor's time amongst mortals. Guided by the voice of the God-Emperor which had been with her since her earliest remembered days, she took to the regimented routine of prayer and penance, with rare excursions out of the convent itself to ensure the security of the faithful and spread His word.

For some seven years now, Lisbeth has made efforts to repent all of Man's sins in the face of the Emperor, be they the grand Apostasy of Goge Vandire, or the common acts of mistrust in His divine will that permeate the lives of the laypeople, while preparing herself for battle in His name.

Equipment and Armament:

-Godwyn-De'az Patter Bolter with Sarissa - Lisbeth's bolter, Permanance, is always set with a sarissa affixed; Lisbeth does not often stay hunkered down behind a single piece of cover for long. The Emperor's fury does not wait for the faithless to come, and so neither should His servants. Wherever possible, Lisbeth prefers to engage in close with the foe, and deliver vengeance up-close, where the heretic might better see their absolution as it impales them. In the field, the spikes of the sarissa also act as a tool for bodily penance through flagellation.

-Sororitas Power Armour - Sister Dominicia goes into battle without a helmet, as she believes her faith in the Emperor is protection enough. The black carapace is covered in scripture, carefully engraved into the surface of the armour and filled in with white, so that it might be better seen and read by the faithful as they march into battle alongside her, inspiring them on to greater feats of bravery in His name.

-Chaplet Eccelesiasticus - Rattling loudly with each step, Lisbeth's chaplet ecclesiasticus bears exactly eight hundred and thirty-three beads, each one representing ten acts of penance, wrapping several times around her waist.

-Frag grenades - As part of her dedication to close combat, Lisbeth echews the standard krak grenades, instead choosing to employ a larger compliment than usual of frag grenades, in order to force her foe out of their hiding holes and into the Emperor's light.

Name: Confessor Horacio (with the c pronounced as a "sh") Mazzini

Age: late 50s/early 60s, he prefers not to dwell on it.

Gender: male

Role/Order: Priest/Preacher

Personal Demeanour: He is incredibly rambunctious for a Confessor, chins jiggling with laughter as he goes through swathes of enemies with fire or Imperial Citizens with hymns. Still, when isolated and alone or in an extremely grim or grave situation he will quiet down and do his duty with the utmost of concentration. He has a particular hate for spies traitors and liars, despising even those who show some insincerity in jokes or such. This hate was born from dealing with the genestealer cults on the hive-world he was assigned to, making him utterly despise any sort of intrigue and secrecy. For that reason, he particularly adores the "confession" aspect of his profession, since it allows him to ascertain one of the most important things to him: the truth. For these reasons he unreasonably often recommends to more powerful members of the Adeptus Sororitas to force Sisters to become Repentias, or when assigned to the Guard he makes sure Commissars have absolutely no laxity. If however one does adhere to his (admittedly rigorous) views, then they will find a staunch, gentle ally and even friend in him.

Speciality: Close quarters combat; not hand to hand but just outside of that, in shotgun and side-arm range where he can best describe his enemy in his denouncement of them and aim his firearms properly, but not forced in to a melee where his age and inexperience with it will put him at a disadvantage.

Rank: Confessor.

Description: About 5'11 and quite rotund, he is an aged but spirirtful member of the Eclessiarchy having thick white mutton-chops and side-burns, but a head shaved clean. He has a stubby mangled nose that would have been much longer and pointier if it had not been damaged. His features are not particularly strong nor weak, although with age some flabby skin along with fat makes it hard to guess his bones' more or less average proportions.

History:

Born in a miscellaneous shrine world in Segmentum solar, Horacio was an extremely faithful lad, with parents who were of the same variety. His parents however were just a little maniacal in their faith (more than the usual for shrine worlders) and thus died upon one of their fasts when he was quite young. The lad was but six and had trouble accepting and comprehending what happened, but this was taken care of for him by the Schola Progenium. In the Schola Progenium the drill abbot made an undying faith even more firm, and eventually Horacio was transferred to the Eclessiarchy in his late teens to finish his education to become a Preacher.

When finished his education in the Eclessiarchy he was sent to Preach upon a hive world full of unrest alongside a Confessor sent there. He was quite young at the time so he had trouble connecting to the various people, and was quite stumped when many even ridiculed his sermons and he was thus forced to call the Arbites to clear out the spires. On one fateful night however, the Confessor was murdered and the civilian populace got only more violent entering near full rebellion. The young Priest was quite surprised when he was elevated to the position of Confessor by recommendation of the planetary governor, but he took the job and tried to do his best with it. He preached and fought, until the PDF and other forces began to notice that all the rebel elements looked alike, and some seemed to be mutated. It was but a week later that they realized a genestealer a cult was present, and the governor was one of them. It was the precise reason he recommended such a young and inexperienced Priest to become Confessor. Still, he fought tooth and nail now that the time to prove himself had come. They called for help from every nearby force and the message was always "hold out a little longer," and it kept coming until only one loyal hive spire remained loyal. By the time help had arrived, the planet was beyond redemption and a vortex missile was dropped down after Horacio and the mere dozen of survivors were taken evacuated.

The Priest now Confessor had come out much more experienced and learned from it all, but that was that. After that he roamed the stars preaching until he finally was attached to a convent of the Adeptus Sororitas. He was overjoyed to be with them. Finally there was a group whose faith was so incandescent, finally he met some people who knew all about the Imperial Cult and were not simultaneously looking down upon him for being of a lower rank. He preached, and had a good time thanks to an eager audience but he recently was called upon by an Inquisitor to help fight the enemies of man. Seeing it as another chance to prove himself, he agreed and now goes with the Undying Master's Holy Inquisition.

Equipment and Armament: Rosarius field, Blackhammer shotgun, Ceres pattern bolt pistol, power maul, carapace armour.

Miscellaneous: most youngits probably haven't watched it but think of him as an older version of Captain Mainwaring from Dad's Army.

Gender: Male.

Role/Order: Cardinals Crimson.

Personal Demeanour: To become a crusader, one must become one with the understanding that they will die. Marcus has long since accepted this, and now lives by discipline. He moderates his emotions towards all, keeps himself focused on the objective at hand, and lives only to serve the Emperor. Even on the battlefield, he remains calm, barking out his words in quick and concise phrases. Battle screams and curses hurled at enemies are not how Marcus conducts himself.

Of course, however, he is a devoted servant of the emperor. In his heart burns nothing but cold fury for the xenos and heretics that plague the galaxy. Nothing would bring him more grim satisfaction than seeing another xenos fall by his feet, another combat style etched into his mind with strokes of blood. Regardless, outside of combat or inside of combat, he acts rather sternly.

Speciality: Close-quarters-combat, crowd control.

Rank: Crusader

Description: Standing at 6'2" tall, and with cropped black hair, Marcus is an individual that oozes the essence of a warrior. With carapace armour on, and the traditional black-and-red robes of the Cardinals Crimson. In many ways, he is utterly unremarkable in appearance, without any form of metal implants or strange procedures having marred his body. Unusually, he also bears no tattoos of faith at all- he lets the scars of combat bear them instead.

History: Marcus was born on an Imperial transport vessel in the middle of space. Without knowledge of who his father was, and with his mother rapidly KIA, he was left to be raised by a ecclesiarchal priest. From a young age, he was taught to moderate himself in wayward thought, to follow the Emperor with every bone and sinew in his body. Indoctrination at such a young age, combined with growing up around the crudeness that were Astra Militarum soldiers gave him an odd mix between holiness and crudeness, tempered by a naturally melancholic attitude.

However, one cannot become a crusader just by being raised by a priest. Upon planetfall, the young Marcus, already showing promise, was shipped off to the Schola Progenium. There, he quickly came under the attention of Drill Abbot Clemitus Attentine, a trainer in melee combat and physical fitness. Eschewing training in ranged weaponry, not even that of basic autogun procedure, he was instead taught more and more of the arts of war on a level he had not expected to before.

His qualification of the Progenium came in a violent and confusing way. Thrown into the Hallucinarium, with his only instruction being to protect another student from harm, despite the myriad other confusing instructions and Tempestus trainees, he succeeded, and was promptly approached by a member of the Cardinals Crimson, where he entered the life of a crusader whole-heatedly. He found particular skill with a more defensive combat style- that of lance and spear. Xenos fruitlessly battering themselves against his defence as he harried them down and left them dead, before moving on. He learned the catechisms of the crusader, the vows of how he would lay down his life, and he fought for decades against heretic and xenos alike across the Imperium.

With the request from Leland Kliment, the Ecclesiarchy sent him to carry out the highest honour a crusader could be granted- to lay down his life for the instrument of the Emperor's Will that was an Inquisitor. He is yet to take the formal oath that will forever bond him to Kliment, however he has been given instructions to do so once he meets the inquisitor.

Equipment and Armament:

  • Power Lance- Covered in ornate purity seals and scripture, and thrice-blessed. Cuts through armour like a knife through butter, with a range long enough to ensure that foes will have to approach through his reach to attack him.
  • Reinforced Carapace Armour- Tough, whilst still flexible enough to direct would-be lethal blows.
  • Storm Shield- Full body protection in an angular design. When this is put in front of Marcus, he becomes a wall, capable of shrugging off small arms fire like it's rain.
  • Badge of Office- A plain thing, mostly used as identification.

He owns nothing else, as would be expected from a Crusader.
