Welcome!

Lo and behold, I've come bearing gifts in the form of a Pirate Fantasy RP inspired and greatly influenced by a well-known manga about young rubber boy with dreams of conquering the seas. Despite being based on a Shounen Series, I'm planning to run it in a more mature and serious manner, but at the same time, I shall do my best to retain the quirkiness that the series is known for.

A general story will exist in the background, but will be altered accordingly depending on the decisions your characters make individually or as a crew. This shall be an open-world and sandbox-type RP set in an alternate universe from the original series. As much as possible, I would want this to be player driven and I would only interfere when absolutely necessary. I will not be using any intricate stat or ability system; I shall simply set limits and everything else would rely on our abilities to RP our characters properly.

I am more than open to the suggestions and ideas of everyone else part of this project. This thread is mainly for the discussion of what you'd want to see in the RP and any inquiries you have about it. Estimated date for the start of this RP is indefinite, but if we get enough players and undergo the needed discussions, we can start as soon as possible.

Anyway, I guess that's it. Feel free to speak up and ask away. Hope to see at least a few who're interested!

Introduction:
Seventeen years ago, the world changed. One man of implacable zeal and indomitable will, the Pirate King, met his end after sharing with the world the existence of his greatest treasure. Lust, greed, and pride brought a slew of pirates, invoking the wrath of the World Government and the Marines, starting something more akin to a war in this new age of piracy.

Some seas fared better than others: the Grand Line saw a boom of commerce as adventurers and pirates alike arrived, but with so many bloody accidents, costly miscalculations, and gruesome battles, the death toll seemed to rise much more. The East Blue remained mostly tranquil, as it had often been, as did the West. The North boomed loudly, but in the South, there was trouble. Though it was the largest of the seas by population, it did not have the peace of the East, the technology of the North, or the history of the West. Without the staying power of tranquility, craft, or tradition, the South saw the largest boom in piracy from the Blue Seas. Some tales traded of chaos at Reverse Mountain where too many ships tried to enter simultaneously in the dawn light, rushing as if One Piece was just on the other side. Worse yet, the increased piracy left less of the able bodied to defend cities, making it all to easy for failed pirates to return to their seas with many undefended islands to plunder. Some failed pirates turned to other avenues of crime, abusing the fact that the Marines and law enforcement were spread thin.

Countries fell, only to be replaced with new regimes, just to fall once again. Marines, fatigued from the constant struggle, fell to corruption and greed to ease their burden. The seas have quieted in parts, but under the surface lies a thick layer of blight, and thundering skies approach. The seas have never been stranger.

This sounds great! I love this idea.

So what are the limits of the Fantasy setting, and are there age limits on characters?

@Eklispe@ArenaSnow Whoops, but thanks guys.

@FallenTrinity Not really, but hey there?

@Oliver What do you mean limits on the fantasy setting? It'll be influenced by One Piece but I'm going to change things around a bit. Not sure how to specify since that'll be referring to a lot of detailed stuff. As for age, no strict limits but if I think its too extreme, we'd have to talk about it.

Just finished the Dressrossa arc. Count me interested. Are we all going to be on the same crew? Or is that TBD?

@Yuuta Actually, I'm letting everyone do whatever they want, or at least I'll try to as long as everything's acceptable.

Well, unless what you guys want is to be in a single crew, I'm fine with that too. This is mainly a brainstorming thread, so if you guys want anything to be included or have any questions, feel free to speak up.

Well, we should have something drawing our characters together, because it'd hard to get everyone interacting if we're all on our own ships doing our own things.

@Yuuta Exactly, but I really don't want to force anything on to you guys. So what I'm expecting is people go their separate ways, having their own goals, or I make everyone follow a single plot, creating a reason why everyone is all together. However, I'd rather avoid the latter. With the former, everyone can just do what they want and I respond to it. Anyone who shares the same interest can stick together and maybe form a crew.

Well the way these things go usually is we have at least 1 pirate crew and sometimes some marine fellows running around as well. Finding One piece and the benefit of crews is generally a good reason to get into a group of some sort. One of the problems I foresee is a lot of weight is put onto the GM to put a plot out for each island people go to. Perhaps if we had everybody 'make' an island adventure and co-gm/gm it when a group gets there to help spread the weight around so to speak.

I think this is a very good idea. We can have all the characters doing their shenanigans on the ship between islands, and then everyone who wants to can hop in a rotation for making a cool island. If we have a lot of players, we could have two rival pirate crews to make things interesting.

Potentially this can take an "NRP" angle - players are captains unless they specifically desire to be on another player's crew, and until meeting each other are in charge of their own ships/towns/areas of influence.

I'm hoping for more character interaction than that and I'm not really interested in doing an NRP style thing.
