Anyways, on to the replies.

@Eklispe@Yuuta Actually, I did plan on asking everyone via PM for any arc/island/NPC suggestions that they might have. So the idea of co-managing certain island arcs is totally cool with me. Just wanted to get a consensus from those interested on how they'd wanna do things. Going full on pirate crew is fine with me as long as its fine with you guys.

I'd be up for being part of a crew here. Although, I'd prefer to see other peoples' characters first so that I have some idea of what might mesh well.

In terms of lore, how much of the actual One Piece story will have happened in this universe? I'm up to date, so I don't really mind, but it might be more fun if Raftel/finding One Piece worked differently here, so that people who have read/watched more will be able to see something new?

@hozan We're working on fleshing out the RP together before we get around to character so we know what to make. Atm it looks like pirate crews looking for One Piece with a different player co-gm each 'arc' with their own plot ideas, but that's just what's been suggested. If you have something else in mind for overall goals to switch things up I think that'd be fun too, from the OP it looks like the general idea is GOL D Roger was around and everything else is subject to alternate universing.

@hozan I'm planning to base this off the current timeline, but fast forward to 60-70 years later. Won't be using canon characters but the universe is mostly similar. But do expect me to deviate from canon information; just my attempt to spice things up for everyone and add my own flair to the RP.

If we want this to be a universe based off of the current timeline, we'd have to explain what happened to the straw hats. I'd hate to say they failed to find One Piece or were captured or something like that; I love the guys too much for that. Maybe Luffy becomes the next Gol D Roger and turns himself in after enjoying his term as the king. Either that, or the straw hats mysteriously vanished, and rumor has it that they are protecting the One Piece. Essentially, if we go canon universe, I'd like to effectively deify the Straw Hats in some way.

@Yuuta I want to avoid mentioning any canon character, hence the premise I typed up in the OP being quite vague. Maybe it would be better if you think of this as an AU instead.

I'd consider this an alternate timeline where the straw hats don't exist, or the things that led them to becoming pirates not happening at all. Like, Luffy never meets Shanks, Bellemere never dies in the hands of Arlong, Kuina never dies, Zef never neets Curly Brows, etc. You get my point.

Of course, going by the latter, we would have to change a whole lot of things. Everything leading up to Marineford and Marineford itself is essentially scrapped. Shanks still has his arm, and can be considered on par with Mihawk in strength, even stronger potentially. Fishman Island falls under Steroid Dude's control (tentative, don't know how they would fare without Straw Hats) ,Dressrossa is back to what it was before, and Dofflamingo is never captured, Ceasar is never captured, Smile factory is never destroyed, Kaido is never angered, Big Mom vs Luffy never happens...

I think keeping it simple is a good idea.

I am interested, and if I may throw my two cents at all of you, in my experience we should definitely leave cannon characters out all together. It allows for more creativity to go into the thread. An AU seems like the best choice, trying to completely rewrite the history of the cannon world is way to much. _{Also I am not caught up, (oops).}

Also one to three crews would be fine, rival or friendly, and maybe a Marine crew (depending on how many people we have), but if we spread people too thin you have to potential of having a player be ignored, or left out. So we may want to keep it as condensed as possible without limiting player freedom.

The idea where everyone comes up with an island (or even a dew islands) and an event to go along with it, is a pretty good idea to me. It would be fun to see what people come up with. And it would definitely allow for this to be more player/character based.

Well that was my input, sorry if you all already went over and agreed on some of this stuff, I am a goof and miss things sometimes.

Seems like we have a plan then. Create some pirate crews and possibly a marine one based on how it goes and start adventuring from island to island with the GM making the first one and everyone else continuing from there. Next question is do we have the crews made before the RPs start or perhaps 'meet in a tavern' on the first island and form the crews there?

I haven't seen much 'One Piece', but pirate fantasy shouldn't be too tricky to figure out.

Very much so. Everything from normal folks, to giants, to fishfolks of every type you can imagine, and dragons. Then we get into devil fruits which you might want to take a quick look around the wiki for. One piece is kind of wacky in general and adding to the fact that this is an AU you have a lot of options for character creation.

So, if any aspiring captains would like a swordsman for their crew, that's probably what I'll be working on.

I am probably either going to go doctor or sharp shooter, not entirely sure yet, but you better bet your bottom they will be hard core. :P (okay maybe not, but whatever.)

Personally, I'd prefer the role of first mate or doctor, but would be happy to make a captain character.

I'd say make your preferred roles first, we have enough people that we should be able to have just about everyone make what they prefer. ^.^
