@DrunkasaurusRex Well he could always show up at the Tourney, or he could be one of the warriors who leaps to Jon's defense. Most of the events are combat oriented in nature, so there's quite a few opening for a knight.

@Masterkeun I might just have it be a useless bauble, magic is still misunderstood by most, so it's not reached the level where magical items are commonplace.

@Abefroeman I'm very interested to see what your character concept is. The RP is always open so feel free to submit a CS.

@Gowi Alright, as long as I'm getting word from you.

@Abefroeman It's an interesting concept certainly, and very well thought out. There are two issues with the sheet however.

1) There's not much information on Truth but we can surmise it's the Rogare family's ancestral sword. I don't think it's likely for the son of a thirdborn to inherit such a prestigious weapon. The firstborn son would likely want to hold onto it to keep it in the family, so Maelys' chances of inheriting it wouldn't be good.

2) In the background info, it's explained that the man who claimed to be Aegon Targaryen in the main series was actually Aegon Blackfyre, a fact unknown even to him, as per the popular fan theory on Aegon's true lineage. Aegon renounced his claim but became a dragon-rider and settled in Dorne and married into House Martell. So if you want, you could have Maelys be one of Aegon's children. His history would be altered somewhat, but he could still have earned his spurs in the Stepstones and have the same motivation of redeeming his ancestors. Conceivably, Aegon could have given Maelys Dark Sister. Aegon was legitimized by Jon, and Dark Sister is given to worthy Targaryen warriors rather than on strict inheritance, based on the history of its ownership. An alternate idea is that Maelys is the descendant of Aerion Blightflame, himself a very infamous person and definitely a family lineage that would need redemption.

Other than that, the sheet is pretty exemplary and he seems like an interesting character.

I am very flexible, and will defer to you, as you are the head chieftan. As for House Blackfyre, according to the Wiki, there was supposedly more than one daughter that Maelys could have descended from. Again, your call, and I can change from Blackfyre to a bastard cadet house from Aerion Targaryen/Brightflame. (Though of course, I like the idea of being descendant from the Lady Blackfyre.)

As for Truth, the sword typically would go to the eldest, or the best fighter. But, as we saw with Samwell Tarly in the show, he took the sword from his family home, and the same could have happened for Maelys father. The main reason I gave him a sword, as his intention is to offer that sword in exchange for Blackfyre, the sword after which his family gets its name from. House Rogare was chosen as it has been on the decline since its patriarch foolishly declared himself Triarch for life. So for a third born son to strike off on his own, taking the family sword, and ditching his failing family behind isn't far fetched to me, but again, your call.

Another sword is Poison I think... which is in the CK2 Game of Thrones Mod, belongs to House Vunatis, which were the lords of Bloodstone. But again, your final say. Let me know what you are ok with, and I will change from there. And if you stick by your guns, then I will make the changes, and scratch the sword, and present a revised character sheet.

@MrDidact That's fine Mable honestly would have attacked a guy holding a glass ball full of fire if she thought they had evil intentions anyway. I don't mind if she just killed a guy who had a Molotov cocktail either as long as he was an enemy.

@Abefroeman Well there is the Brightfyre theory, that Aerion Blightflame's lineage intersected with the Blackfyre dynasty. It is conceivable that there were other Blackfyre pretenders besides Aegon but why would they not rise up with the Golden Company and Aegon? The family have been trying to usurp the throne for generations, as soon as another viable prospect appeared they should have made a move. However I am willing to let you play your character as intended just keep in mind that it would kind of strain credulity to have yet another Blackfyre show up and that the bloodline's redemption has already been somewhat achieved with Aegon. That's why I thought it might be better for Maelys to be one of Aegon's children, and while I didn't put down the specifics of his lineage, presumably Aegon's mother was a Blackfyre descendant. You'd have to put down a reason he wasn't legitimized as a Targaryen though either way. Also, Aerion's potential descendants are foreshadowed in the books as well, and if they ever show up, they'd have something of an impact.

As for the sword, since the Three Daughters are becoming a powerful force, I was planning to have House Rogare and their weapon play something of a prominent role in future events. I'd prefer for them to still have their sword for this reason and the ones already stated. But you can take this sword Poison as your characters, have it be a prize he won in the Stepstone battles. Keep in mind though that the Targaryen family would probably not be willing to exchange the sword. They only just got the blade back and its the sword of Aegon the Conqueror, they would most likely want to keep the sword in the family; especially if the person seeking it came from a family that has a history of trying to usurp their throne using the sword as evidence of their claim. They would rightfully be extremely wary of such an offer and would most likely flat out reject him.

So in essence you can still play your character, I'll accept him but your intended direction for him wouldn't pan out completely. The sheet is really good though, you obviously put a lot of thought into it, and it would be perfectly fine if you wanted to make alterations.

Alternatively you can put in another concept. We have no characters who are Reachmen, Valemen, Dornish, Stepstoners, or Stormlanders for example, and only one of each other kingdom save the Crownlands. And there are many disgraced houses or nearly extinct houses that a similar concept character could hail from.

Ultimately, it's up to you how you want to proceed, but I really like your enthusiasm and it's obvious you have RP chops, so I'd love to have you in the game no matter what role you want to play.

@Dredigan@Greenie You guys still pretty busy?

@Masterkeun Firebombs wouldn't be out of the question at all.

The way this RP is shaping up, with mostly single characters and almost no Houses, I think I'm going to have to bring most of the PCs get an offer from the Throne to all go together on a mission; classic RPG style. Does that sound alright to you guys? Other characters will still have their own stuff to do but it looks like I'm going to have to try to bring most of the adventurers and single characters together. You can still have lots of alliances and backstabbing on a journey, assuming your characters accept the offer of course.

@MrDidact I respectfully defer to your judgement, and shall begin a quick rewrite to address the areas you touched upon. I really appreciate the time you took to explain a feel details, and help me out with this process. I will probably post two or three CS for Maelys, each one a little different, so you can choose which one you like the most. I will take into consideration what you have presented, and will proceed from there.

@MrDidact

Yeah, sorry about that D: I've been catching up on all my rps and this one is next in line. I've got a plan on how to start it off so hopefully it should be done before I sleep.

As for this

I'm totally onboard with this. I was going to bring Taria over to watch the procession (especially her papi), so she'll be around there nearby.

Hope that is acceptable, and humbly await your review. Thank you for your insight, as going a different route from the Blackfyre line has proven to be a fun little adventure.

@Abefroeman It's no problem at all it's the least I could do. I look forward to seeing what you present and anticipate having you in the game.

@Greenie I am curious to see how Taria interacts with Theon and her other family. And it would be great if she ever does meet the new Crow's Eye. Two bastard Greyjoys, opposite sides of the conflict. I am excitedly awaiting your post.

I had hoped for some Byzantine political maneuvering but good old adventuring is always fun too.

@Abefroeman Somehow, I keep missing your posts until much later. My apologies. In any case, Aerion is accepted, you can place him in the CS tab. Top quality work, and you even gave me an idea for the events regarding the upstart Pirate King.

As an aside, the name Goldfyre makes me think of Aegon II's golden dragon sigil. Also, what do you mean when you say the sword is broken?

@Masterkeun Yeah I have some stuff planned for all the other characters of course. But there'll be a big event for all the landless fighters and adventurers.

Has anyone got the Tyrells? I'd love to play them, and could actually insert a CS I've had from a while back into it, with alterations of course. Abefroman and a few others can probably give me a recommendation.

Kind of a weird question ^^; But around what time of the day would the procession be taking place?

@MrDidact The sword itself was damaged in the siege of Bloodstone. The last Pirate Lord to hold the blade was inadvertently crushed by collapsing rubble, and his sword was cracked by the weight of the rubble. Aerion was lucky enough to have read about the swords of old, and quickly snagged it before anyone else, and continued on with the rest of the campaign.

As for the hopes of larger Geo-political scheming and maneuvering, its early in the game, and who knows what could happen. Plus, with so much land, well, who's to say that anyone would miss a few ruined castles and manors?

@kingkonrad Is a great roleplayer, and he would make a fine addition to the group.

@kingkonrad Yeah feel free to submit a sheet, I was always a Tyrell fan, would love to see them in the game. And it's always nice to have more players. Just keep in mind that in-continuity, Margaery and Loras didn't survive the wars, and Willas is the lord now.

@Greenie The procession to the Grand Sept was in the morning, I'd say 8ish.

@Abefroeman I don't know if Valyrian Steel ever breaks, there's no mention of any items ever being damaged severely and they are magic. Though I suppose he could always have it reforged.

@MrDidact That was certainly the idea. The old sword in his eyes would be tainted by the use as a weapon for evil by its former Pirate Lord, and those that know how to reforge such a weapon would surely be the king and queen of Westeros, or at least know those who could. Perhaps broken isn't the best word, but rather tainted/corrupted.
