I have no experience with the language and the only reason I chose it was because I took Spanish in high school, hated it, and wanted to try something new. A lot of people have told me it's a difficult language to learn though so to say I'm worried would be an understatement.
It is really person to person whether the language is hard or not. It is definitely logical. And for the cases, it is easier than Spanish, as far as I know. It has a certain structure and is not as random as English. Mind you, there are a couple of things that are completely bonkers. Like the fact that nouns have genders in German. So stupid and some of them don't even make sense. It is the most difficult thing for any foreigner to figure out and if you get the article "der, die, das" (all mean "the") wrong, it shouldn't be a big deal in an actual conversation.
I'm gonna give a few examples why the "noun genders" are total bullshit xD
"Mädchen" (girl) is neuter while "die Eisenbahn" (train) is female, but "Schiff" (ship) is neuter. However an individual ship, like the Titanic, for example, are female.
Or "Schrank" (cupboard, wardrobe) is masculine, while "Bank" (bench or (money) bank) is female, but "Bett" (bed) is neuter.
Doesn't really make sense, but even children have difficulties with it. That'S why there is this joke question in German.
"Was ist richtig? Die gerade Kurve, der gerade Kurve, das gerade Kurve? Gar nichts, eine Kurve kann nicht gerade sein!"
(What is correct? The(f) straight curve, the(m) straight curve, the(n) straight curve? None of it, a curve cannot be straight.)
