@ClocktowerEchos
As you said, Inquisitorial work includes much more non-combat stuff than someone inexperienced in the matter can reasonably expect from any organisation within the 40k universe.

Such non-combat activities, I presume, include both stealthy investigations of different sorts, up to and including undercover work within heretical cults and organisations, peaceful negotiations with other institutions of Imperium, xenos and independent parties, scientific research, recruitment work, acquirement of funds and resources in a manner that does not alert anyone to presence and activities of Inquisition and many other.

As a consequence of his education and creation, a Factor is comfortable and capable of not only parleying between the Mechanicus and Imperium, but also of any other sort of social interaction in any role, all while still keeping his heart hardened, his head cool and his loyalties unswayed. Inquisition needs such people on regular basis and in large numbers in the same way they require a constant stream of warriors capable of fighting the manifold enemies of mankind.

In the same vein as Death Cults and Crusader orders often have long-term agreements with Inquisitors to supply them with a constant stream of relatively competent yet still expendable murderers, it would, in my mind's eye, make sense for some Inquisitors to forge a similar pact with Mechanicus in order to provide themselves with trustworthy, capable and unremarkable workers that require minimal background and loyalty checks before being put to work - essentially, acolytes coming in in boxes marked as "typical social specialist, one unit".

I'd like to be a factor because it supplies me with an unremarkable background that still justifies my presence in Inquisiton, so that I can distinguish myself pretty much only through in-character actions and feats instead of working off of something that is already there. My idea is to start off as a personality-less living doll that works by uploading behavioural subroutines into his mind in order to assume a needed role, be it that of a grizzled veteran, a charismatic rogue trader or an envoy of Ecclesiarchy, approaching every conversation as a logical problem to be solved through mix-and-matching countless rote-memorized queries and facial expressions until the desired effect is achieved.

Then, later off, I want to slowly make him develop an actual unique personality of his own as he works side by side with powerful and exceptional people and cannot help but begin losing his strictly logical and mechanical attitude, bit by bit, terrified by the fact but unable and unwilling to stop it.

@Eyeruption That actually sounds pretty interesting now that you've explained it. Go ahead an draw up a CS for it, I'm curious on this.

@ClocktowerEchos Fortunately, I am already in PMs with her, so we'll see how that works out, I suppose.

@Eyeruption I agree with Clocktower. That is pretty interesting.

Looks like this is getting popular, I've been getting into 40k recently and I'd like to give this a go, if there's any room left.

@The Survivor I believe there's plenty of room. I'd be interested to hear your idea, either way.

he is not allowing space marines in this.

But otherwise no, space marines can be hired BY inquisitors, sometimes under extremely generous circumstances by chapter masters. But a space marine is a space marine forever. There is too much time and money and genetic modifiction to permit anything else. Plus indoctrination.

GM POST

@The Survivor@Ollumhammersong@BCTheEntity@Eyeruption@Elgappa@Keksalot

I have some announcements to make to all of you.

After some recent events which I will not be mentioning here, the spot of the Inquisitor is once again open to anyone willing to take up its responsibilities and position. I have one potential Inquisitor who may be taking the role in the form of one @agentmanatee but should you wish to throw your hat in the ring, by all means, please do.

In response to my style of GMing, particularly in the area of CS reviews, I have decided to entirely distance myself from the process as it is clear that what I do does not help anyone. As such, everyone in the RP will now be free to make whatever they wish to create without any of the restrictions I had previously imposed. Everyone will be able to critique, judge and review each other's sheets for any faults they may have and once enough people have agreed to accept it, it will be considered accept it upon approval of the Inquisitor player.

In addition, the number of characters allowed total and the number of characters allowed per person will also be up to you, the players, and the Inquisitor position.

Special mentioning to the following:

@Keksalot Your original idea and character can now be once again used without any alterations although I still do suggest a formatting face lift.
@The Survivor While I do like your sheet and would have otherwise approved of it, it is now up to the rest of the players as to its status.

In addition to the lifting of my limitations of creative freedoms, I am also loosening the rules and having everyone be the judge of wether or not something breaks such a rule or breaches acceptable protocol. If you are asking what my job will be then at this point, it will simply be to:

A) Set up the RP and its rules
B) Act as a final word/decision should people believe it is needed
C) Make IC posts and poke people to make posts.

I do hope that these changes are favorable to everyone and that they can potentially improve the experience for all, that will be all.

@ClocktowerEchos ...alright. I guess I'll post my character sheet in-thread for now, then. @agentmanatee, if you want to talk to me in PMs about Inquisitor stuff and how s/he and Charne interact, I'd appreciate it.

That said, and taking into account what was said about it earlier, I wouldn't personally approve Keks' character for about the same reasons as Clock gave. The Survivor's sheet is pretty good, however.

So to everyone currently involved in the RP: If there's still room, I'd like to run a non-combat Medicae/Scientific Research-type character, assuming that role hasn't been filled(I'll be honest, I only skimmed the different CSs that have been posted)

@BCTheEntity Looks good, but one question, does Charne's ability render everyone without the psi defense with a headache? If so, do you plan to do something about it so our characters aren't taking Tylenol the whole rp?

@The Survivor If you read his sheet, he has a skull implant that helps cloak his aura of horror and psychic murder, like a lesser version of an Animus Speculum. It won't hide his nature entirely- it'll still be obvious what he is to those in the know about Blanks, and that something is off or wrong with him to everyone else- but it at least allows people to not want to kill him on sight and/or slowly die in his presence. That said, if the implant is off, the universe itself hates him, as does everything in his proximity; it's mostly psykers who are likely to actually suffer detrimental effects such as headaches, though that's ultimately the least of their worries in that situation.

@DepressedSoviet Looks pretty good to me.

@BCTheEntity Ah thanks, sorry, I am incredibly sick and feel like a psyker myself.

@DepressedSoviet He looks good to me, I approve.

@ClocktowerEchos Is it cool for me to have an acolyte and try for Inquisitor?

@The Survivor No, the one who has the role of Inquisitor won't have an another character to prevent conflicts of interest.

@ClocktowerEchos@The Survivor If it helps you make a decision about who to set up as Inquisitor, Clock, I've yet to receive a response from @agentmanatee about possible interactions between his Inquisitor and Charne. If I could talk to Survivor privately about possible interactions between Inquisitor and retinue member, I'd be personally inclined to support him in this regard just for doing so in a more timely fashion. (Hint hint, Survivor.)
