Clouds are rarely below service ceilings of fighter aircrafts.

...Pretty sure they are. The A-7 has a service ceiling of 13,000 meters. Most clouds are within that range.

Does 10 000 meters sound reasonable...?
As I said, I'm not an expert on weather, clouds, etc.

Going from right on top of the ocean to in the clouds without getting hit. This'll be interesting.

Yep! He was in my other jet roleplay *shudders*. That had to be a roleplaying disaster for the history books. It was all over the place, the setting was not very well thought out in places and I couldn't decide what to do with it. I won't let the same happen to this one though! >:O

Wikipedia said Science (from Latin scientia, meaning "knowledge"[1]) is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe.[2][3] In an older and closely related meaning, "science" also refers to a body of knowledge itself, of the type that can be rationally explained and reliably applied. A practitioner of science is known as a scientist.

Well, looking at that picture, I guess Cirrus at 10 000m would go well with the description of thin and whispy.
See, I'm right? :D
