Maybe when things went south, a lot of people just didn't bother coming back. Also, I think because a lot of people lost their games and all the archived materials, it put people off, maybe? Keep in mind only people who were still actively following the backup forum found out when the Guild came back, since the email database got ganked so there was no way to send out a mass message.

I wasn't on the Old Guild for too long (joined in September-ish) but yeah, it always seemed way more active. I was in a few RPs and had trouble keeping up. I'd imagine losing everything we had made made people lose interest, and plus I bet a lot of them just assumed the site was gone for good and haven't checked to see if it had gotten resurrected. I'd like a link if you make one, please.

There was a backup forum? I never knew this, I just assumed there wouldn't be a reboot for a bit, and one day I checked back and this site was starting back up from scratch. Losing my stuff really wasn't much of a worry for me, I actually like the fresh start it gave everybody

I joined OldGuild in October due to complete boredom on WCRPG. There were a LOT of interested Roleplays(Fantasy Pirates, Warfare, Medieval Fantasy knights, Mech,etc), and many of them never started up because they were due to start up right as the guild went down. right now, there seems to be none that suit my fancy. I would LOVE to start up my War of Change/Gaian Files up again, but it takes a LONG time to find the right pictures/write descriptions, and whenever I finish and post an interest check it's like there's no sign of life on the guild :(

I tend to find the same problem - I have my own game running, but there's not a lot else that really makes me want to join in on it, other than this at the moment. I am pretty picky when it comes to what I enjoy, but I'm sure OldGuild had more variety in what games were up, and they seemed to run for a lot longer too. And I guess it's right that a lot of people didn't join up or weren't aware when the Guild was resurrected.

Anyway, I'll be posting a link to your inboxes momentarily for the int check. Hope you decide to join up!

I just kind went to two other sites. But to be honest, the turnover rate on those sites were relatively the same as here.

Honestly the Guild is still a lot better in terms of activity than the RPG forum I joined before this one, RPGFO (RPG Forums Online). It had a healthy member base but there were seriously NEVER any posts. I tried starting one and joining some and it just remained dead.

Yeah, I had a look at a couple of other places, but nowhere matched the activity for here. Or the writing quality either - the system of organizing and grading the RP's works out so well.
