Duel Disk: Taiyo's solid light duel disk blade functions on the front of the body instead of the side. He has a card holder to place his hand when making decisions. It's use was intended for someone with little mobility in their left hand, but as it was not being purchased the store owner wanted it gone. He was given this duel disk as his parents found it on sale. Despite having the possibility to purchase another, Taiyo has grown attached to his duel disk, as he cherishes any gifts his family has given him.

Personality: Taiyo is quiet, anxious and usually reserved. As a boy with no real friends to speak of other than his own brother, Taiyo has little experience in social interaction with people he isn’t close with. He isn’t the best with his words, and usually lets others do the talking for him. The best way to get to know him is through a game. He is more inclined to discussion and banter while thinking of his next best move. While dueling, especially, he almost becomes a different person, showing confidence, calmness and happiness. This is the true personality of Taiyo.

History: Taiyo Hoshimi was raised in a well-off family. He was the twin brother of a very gifted child. His brother Ichimaru was the perfect son, with great physical ability and charismatic charm. He also had far better grades than his brother, rising to the top of every class he participated in. A child prodigy, his family showered him in attention and gifts, hoping that they would be able to tailgate his glory. As such, Taiyo was shown little attention. His parents loved him, to be sure, but he was merely a below-mediocre boy. Everything he did was just below average. However, the one thing he did show promise in was his ability to play strategy games. His favourite of course being the worldwide hit of Duel Monsters. While Taiyo did love his family, and dearly looked up to his brother Ichimaru, he always felt like a disappointment. Thus, he spent all of his time trying to master the game, come up with his best strategies and his own personal collection of cards.

One day, however, his brother gave him a gift. A card he had found on a walk home from school. This card became everything to Taiyo, and he centered his entire deck around this one card that his brother gave him. A deck he would later call his Archfiend Empire. Despite the fact his deck wasn’t considered as competitive as others, he persevered, and eventually won several tournaments. After many years of neglect, and some form of promise showing from their other son, Taiyo’s parents used some of their savings to buy him admission into the Saotome Duel Institute. Now with a gift from both his brother and his parents, Taiyo vows to never let them down, and prove to them that he has some worth in the world.

Wish: Taiyo wishes to become the best duelist to impress his parents as much as his brother.
