By the way, fun trivia, the Two Rivers were actually inspired by the Two Rivers that surround the Charleston Peninsula- the Cooper and the Ashley. See below:

Robert Jordan's home sits near the very end of the peninsula, and that road connects one river to the other. Charleston really is a wonderfully beautiful city, but please don't come and visit, we have enough tourists already.

To begin with, (And ignoring the discourse style of writing for simplification) I did not imply you were unsuccessful, merely that you were biased. Do not shovel words into my mouth, also, don't resort to an appeal to emotion to try and discredit me. I proposed that your condition may affect your thinking, you are free to disagree. However your statements do not align with your claims.

You're still ignoring the point, demanding arbitrary weakness in equivalence (I don't think you know what this word actually means) Is a silly thing to do, in something like a superhero RP it is understandable. It neither improves the writing, nor the RP, it is an attempt to insert artificial depth, rather than strive for actual depth. Your interpretation of weakness and how to apply them is wrong. Also you repeatedly insist to the need for binary: If a character has a strength they must have an equal weakness. That is 1 and 0's. Apparently no character can exist that is more gifted than others they must all be perfectly balanced. Life doesn't work this way, and neither did RJ.

So if a disagreement is unable to be resolved, you'll just call it a 50/50? Instead of realistic analysis of the two differing sides of the argument? Thats bad GM'ing, and ignores your later statement to be aiming for realism. This is character interaction on a grand scale, before you try to disseminate the two

A nice statement regarding the co-operation, but you consistently demonstrate an unwillingness to co-operate. You repeatedly shut down conversations with the declaration that "I am the GM" even when you were blatantly wrong.

Now you are applying a sort of plot armor, despite previous claims to there being "No Plot Armor" Sadly realistically (which you claim to desire later on in your post) fights do not work this way. The canadian womens Olympic hockey team (The best in the world at the time) lost to a bunch of fourteen year olds who weren't even provincially (state) ranked. If you are at a disadvantage, you will lose, unless someone is incredibly stupid or you are incredibly lucky. I don't have a problem with this from a Literary sense, but you made the claim to realism. This is character interaction of a physical kind.

In regards to the Aes Sedai, you are obviously backpedaling on previous statements you made to save face. You declared an Aes-Sedai under the age of 100 to be a special snowflake, when it turns out they are incredibly common. Nynaeve was far from the exception to the rules on wilders as well. It is worth noting that the Amyrlin seat (Before the fracturing of the tower) was under the age of 100 during the time the WoT takes place. Also you keep making statements such as "usually/Normally" to justify an all encompassing statement that is clearly factually wrong. This is also known as anecdotal evidence.

Next you make another appeal to authority (which is not completely fallacious, considering the topic at hand) However if you are going to make such an appeal, you can't just say x y z is why I am right. Many other people have looked through sources and come to completely differing conclusions as you. If you wish to provide your sources for your claims, instead of implying that your knowledge is superior to others, which you have done repeatedly by making statements such as "No I'm not pulling this out of my ass" which would be utterly unnecessary, unless you felt the need to differentiate your information from others.

You dont have evidence (this once again implies that despite the lack of evidence, you do believe this is how it works) to this being how people work. Yet you still used this anecdotal and clearly misrepresented information to try and prove a point. This discredits everything else you have said.

The following bulletpoints are largely ridiculous, claims to realism (Really? Do I need to elaborate?), further appeals to authority, and general wishful thinking. Your attitudes regarding character creation do not line up with what you say here.

Pride is a sin, inability to accept help is a weakness, don't mix the two. Most characters who exemplify the sin of pride have the inability to accept help. Armstrong accepts help, because he chooses to often fight alone does not mean he refuses help his style of alchemy is highly destructive, he'd likely injure any allies not on the same level as he is. The same goes for Mustang. Armstrong is neither overly prideful (Yes he is proud of being himself, as I am sure you are proud of being yourself, as I am proud of being myself) nor is he unwilling to accept help.
Honestly I could go on but this isn't about FMA and focusing on it is just an attempt at distracting from the main points. Suffice to say you continue to contradict yourself. Yes, I am well aware of your love for strong muscled men.

You didn't add on to Tangletail because they argue far more rationally and logically than you. You end your argument with another appeal to emotion, then try and further discredit what I said by saying "No need to get angry here"

Yet how fucking dare I? Someone sounds angry to me. Perhaps you would prefer offended, the word you used.

Suffice to say you display consistent unwillingness to actually co-operate despite your claims, a large gap in your knowledge regarding WoT (this is why I got away with most of what I did with the Aiel, excluding going to Rhuidean, which actually is not forbidden in the way you tried to describe it. I digress though, we were apparently in large agreement regarding that, save for the Dothraki.)

Now you Admit to acting like an Ass, but refuse to apologize for it, this displays an almost quintessential Narcissism (The psychological, not classical greek) I won't fully elaborate unless you wish to try and engage in character assassination further, instead of logical discussion.

Sorry if my thoughts are disjointed, the voices in my head are acting up (See I can do it too!)

Now I'm off to work (Ah the life of an insomniac and Paranoid Schizophrenic!)

@Aviendha I'd honestly say we are both better off to drop the topic Aviendha, and I'm tired of poking my head into this thread. Feel free to dispute my points, dont @ mention me if you would like to move on from this and just proceed with your RP. Or we can continue this circular argument until the end of this age.

And I'd be fine with that. I didn't WANT her to be an experienced battle mage. That's clearly not her forte. She is a healer, not that she would be unable to use her skills offensively at all. Simple fireballs are still plenty effective to start with. Besides, even after becoming Aes Sedai, a lot of them still do have a lot to learn. It's not like they now know all there is to know after gaining their shawl. If anything it means they have MORE to learn now, because now they're specialized. Nor do they always leave the Tower immediately after they becoming one.

This would allow her room to grow as a character and as an Aes Sedai as opposed to just simply being one already. Which, imo is more interesting, and considering her pretty considerable power could easily be considered a bit of a weakness. Not even the most experienced Aes Sedai are perfect either. They all have their specialties and flaws. They're still human.

@Ezmeralda The thing is, this RP will last in-game only a few months. That's really not enough time to grow as an Aes Sedai to the point where she could actively participate and contribute to battle in a meaningful capacity. She would pretty much be confined to the White Tower, for the duration of the RP. And I don't think that would be fun for you.

That depends on the others, I'd say. I don't think them sending her out with something of a mentor to earn some real world experience would be all that strange. Perhaps on a mission to help her learn more of what it means to be Aes Sedai? Perhaps in search of some semi-valuable book or something? After all learning the weaves and actually applying them are totally different stories. If nothing else, she can still Heal, which is more valuable than you give it credit.

I myself enjoy playing healers anyway. And in general just enjoy being a part of the story and interacting than anything else. I don't need to be murdering Trollocs like crazy to enjoy it. lol

@Ezmeralda It would be strange, in times of war. From the books, we know that the Yellows are very cautious- and they likely wouldn't risk losing one of their Healers in training when they aren't ready for battle. You can play a Healer, sure, but if they're that young, they will be stuck in the White Tower/Tar Valon, learning, for the duration of the RP.

I don't expect a healer to be a battlemage- it takes a lot of training in universe to become a Healer to the full capacity needed to help adequately on the battlefield. Unless you're Nynaeve, since she's... the best. Ever.

By the way, I do give Healers credit. I always play defense or heals in games... what was your evidence that I don't???

@Ezmeralda To phrase it better- the war's been going on for over a century now, and sending out the untrained Aes Sedai risks losing invaluable assets. It only makes sense that the White Tower would wait for an Aes Sedai to reach their full potential before sending them out into battle, lest they risk an untimely and ultimately preventable demise.

It is possible that a kingdom/city/army is being preassured badly by the dark forces, that her training would be continued on the field by a mentor. Behind the safety of a front line.

I disagree. In times of war would be when you need them most. And if they're stuck at the Tower they won't be doing much good. And it's not like they'll keep a Yellow on the frontlines. They'll be safe in the back, healing and throwing magic out when possible. It's possible they could never even be found by enemies.

I beleive it said in the books that a healer was worth a thousand men. Or maybe I'm quoting another series...I could be. Also, you didn't need to be very strong in the One Power to be a good Healer. Many of the best were actually very weak, sometimes barely even able to channel.

@Ezmeralda I would normally agree with your first point, except that it doesn't make sense, given my point that you cannot put all your eggs into one basket. Additionally, during the Trolloc Wars, plenty of Aes Sedai stayed behind in the White Tower to defend Tar Valon- there were four major assaults on Tar Valon, so they had to keep significant forces at their home base. Novices, Accepted, and the younger Aes Sedai were among those who stayed at the tower.

I don't remember that quote, but the series is hella long, so I don't remember a lot of quotes, lol. And yes, Healers can be very weak, but the White Tower would train them to their full potential before letting them out into the world. And if your character becomes a novice at the youngest age that I've seen in reading the Companion (which is 16), then does her training in half the time other people do, that still gives her only 5 years so far that she could train in Healing. And I do not think that that could get anyone to their full potential- again, a 31 year old Aes Sedai is the equivalent of a 6 year old child.

I don't think sending one Accepted/Aes Sedai off to find something would be that hard of a hit to them. Especially if they were on a quest to retreive an angreal/ter'angreal/sa'angreal or something of equal help.

Once they learn the weave that was their full potential...as far as Healing goes, at least. There was only the one and it was all-encompassing, besides healing a stilling/gentling, which doesn't exist yet. The only variances was that they could focus more on where they needed to. After that it was just how much they could do, which was more based on their stamina.

@Ezmeralda I do, and a Yellow would not be sent to retrieve something like that. That would likely be the duty of a Blue, or a Brown, depending on the circumstance.

Read more about Healing here, since they explained it really well: 13depository.blogspot.com/2002/02/weav..

This is the passage that interests me the most:

Complex Five Powers Healing

Unlike in the simpler forms of Healing, different weaves are used to Heal different illnesses. It takes longer, but all the strength comes from the Power and not from the patient and Healer. This is the Healing used during the Age of Legends, and men were better than women at some kinds of Healing (Lord of Chaos, Prologue). Flinn and a few other men can use the Power to remove deeply embedded objects (The Path of Daggers, Fog of War, Storm of Battle).

The channeller can choose to Heal one particular condition and leave everything else as it was (Crossroads of Twilight, Glimmers of the Pattern). This complex Healing can even cure insanity to a limited degree (The Eye of the World, Prologue), but psychiatrists were probably preferred to treat most patients (Lord of Chaos, Threads Woven of Shadow).

During Healing, the patient feels both hot and cold at the same time (The Dragon Reborn, Threads in the Pattern), perhaps due to the presence of Fire and Water in the weave.

In other words, yes, standard simple healing and delving can be learned, but the complex healing- for which the Yellow Ajah is known- is much more involved than just one weave that can be applied to any situation. Every single ailment, injury, illness, what have you, has a different weave, and is dependent on the patient. It takes years of practice and a full understanding of the human body and the different things that can affect it.

You've got to remember that during the Trolloc Wars, people- Aes Sedai especially- remember the wonders of the Age of Legends, and they try to uphold them still. And I would expect that that would hold true in the Yellow Ajah, that they would train their Aes Sedai in all known permutations of the complex Healing weaves.

This is an instance of me saying no, by the way. If your Aes Sedai is 31, and of the Yellow or Green Ajah, then she will be confined to the White Tower.

I'm working on my character (I don't think I'll have the private sheet done tonight though) and I'm wondering if poor farmers in the middle of nowhere in this age may have superstitions against using the one power? I'm super rusty on my lore and I've been reading a lot of wiki pages, I read the series a couple years ago. I think I may pick it up again now though. I'm also thinking of giving my character a minor block but I'm wondering if its possible she could've actually become a full Aes Sedai without overcoming it (which I'm thinking is a no, if someone knew about it)

@LadyTabris Sure! Poor farmers in the middle of nowhere are not detailed upon in any of the stuff I've read about the Trolloc Wars, so you have a lot of freedom there. From what I can remember, there's nothing saying that a woman couldn't become an Aes Sedai without overcoming her block, but I'll have to do some more research on that. Like you said, it may depend on whether anyone knows about it, or what it is. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

@aviendha Cool, thanks. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly the block is going to be, but I'm sure Ill have plenty of time to think of it during class tomorrow. I thought about it having something to do with weaving or spinning wool, but I don't know yet. I'm going to sleep, for now, though. I'll work on this again tomorrow night
