"All of you who have that absurd power don't understand: none of that is necessary. Power like that is just a crutch, is just something to rely on and to stifle everything else. Humans are wonderful, beautiful, terrible things, because with these hands that lack any power we can give rise to something beyond even that magic of yours. Now watch, for this is the greatest force in all the world, nothing else than the raw potential of mankind!"MEISTER Name: Claudius Caligula Westerson (Claudius Evelson)
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Species: Human, Fledgeling Sorcerer
Abilities:
Invention God: An inventive mindset coupled with copious amounts of funds from his disdainful parents has turned Claudius into a man who can create new things with only a moment's notice. To this end, he carries various seemingly random materials on his person. His inventions are made with the concept of "replicating the magical", and are nicknamed "Claudiuscraft". For instance, he possesses what he calls a "C Rank Flame Manipulation Claudiuscraft", which is a portable lighter taped to an airhorn canister.
Physical Capacity: The standard fare for one who has undergone general forms of training. He neither has a unique fighting style nor particular strength in combat, but his fundamentals are solid and his body is hardy.
Soul Talent: None. Lacks the capacity to initiate Soul Resonance and the talent to use Soul Perception. On paper, he should be utterly worthless as a Meister.
Delusion Realization: An innate magic possessed by Claudius, and the only reason he managed to avoid getting kicked out of Spartoi when it was realized that he was not his sister. Were this talent honed to an art over the course of several centuries, Claudius may very well become worthy of the name "Sorcerer", but as he is this is nothing more than a trump card stowed in the back pocket.
It operates off of the principle of denying reality, engraving falsehood atop truth. In other words, it is an implicit magical ability capable of overlaying Claudius's true nature with the nature of "Claudius in his own mind", allowing him to gain the capabilities and overbearing might that he believes himself to possess.
Of course, this is harshly limited by three factors.
The first is Claudius's lack of knowledge on magical theory, thus making this a spell he cannot consciously activate on a whim and instead being something fueled by emotion; moreover, due to this lack of knowledge, its efficiency is horrid. Merely keeping it active for a minute is enough to exhaust him magically.
The second weakness is simply the gap between reality and fiction; even with the magic aiding it, Claudius's body can only gain so much, so it falls incredibly short of actually becoming something akin to "a peerless hero".
The third, though, is the most damning: so long as he can survive without it, Claudius will never utilize this magic, as he believes it invalidates his own path. He will become a hero without that power, he will become remembered solely on the basis of his own ability, on the raw potential of mankind.
Techniques: Flourishing Reveal: With a flick of the wrist, the hero's trump card makes its debut. This is simply the act of pulling particular items out of Kibisis with a startling level of speed and efficiency, nothing more than the result of months upon months of practice and memorization.
Equipment: Possesses a backpack he has named "Kibisis", which is in truth a "pocket space" given to him by his Spacial Witch of a mother, analogous to a bag of holding in video games. Within it is contained a mad assortment of mundane objects of the kind that you, yes you, would take with you on a trip. Metal sheets, an assortment of mundane weapons, various dumbbells, a jar of half-melted ice cubes, portable lighters, components of an electric fence, a wireless microphone, a wheelchair, salted meats, reading glasses, a sweater, and so on. Put simply, if it is nonmagical in nature, not illegal for an individual to possess, not so large or heavy that a teenage male cannot hold it with both hands, and not prohibitively expensive, then it is likely buried somewhere within that bag.
Personality: In a world where combat, medicine, and research all pivot around those powers that transcend human mundanity, those without soul potential or magic are forced to the delegation of side characters or faceless individuals who only exist as a means of moving from point A to point B. This is an absolute fate, and it is this absolute fate that Claudius wages war on. He is an unsalvageable chuunibyou, an outspoken buffoon, and a mad scientist who has dedicated his life to turning the magical into the mundane.
Claudius believes himself to be a "protagonist", a being destined to defeat the magic-archy that he perceives the world around him to be. In the face of tyranny, he stands tall, an unbending oak to weather the storm. In interactions with others, he is recklessly ostentatious and loudmouthed, a ridiculous jester without peer who is prone to monologue at the slightest opportunity.
Even with regards to those who are objectively above him in ability, such as otherworldly monsters from a higher dimension, transcendent gods who exist outside of time, or his elementary school principal, he does not change this demeanor. He is a fool who charges forwards with an unshakeable grin, an idiot who pursues his dream with a frenzy that even the madness-infected would balk at.
History: Claudius descends from a relatively long line of witches on his mother's side and Meisters (with the occasional dot of weapon blood) on his father's, but was born without any such talent himself. His parents were not unreasonable people, and did not view him as lesser for this unfortunate circumstance, raising him as they would any other child. The trouble came when Claudius was four and his parents had their second child, a girl, who was blessed with aptitude for magic and a weapon transformation alike. While Claudius's parents were not the type to show overt favoritism, they couldn't help but show a trace more attention to their prodigy of a daughter, while Claudius was turned away from the DWMA time and time again. This was Claudius's turning point; refusing to accept the reality around him, he proclaimed that he would overcome magic as a concept, and become something greater.
The next decade-plus was filled with Claudius moving to this endeavor. Neglecting his studies to the point where he just barely scraped through school, shutting out all others and immersing himself in his work, he tinkered endlessly to realize his dream. His parents, not wanting to dissuade him from his passions, helped fund his projects, and every so often Claudius actually managed to churn out an invention that worked relatively well and even earned some money thanks to it. While not having the most familiar sibling relationship, he did get along rather well with the sister that had caused him all of this grief, mainly because she was just a little kid who didn't realize that her brother was a fucking weirdo.
-All until a letter arrived at his house one day.
Failing to see that the name written on the envelope was that of his sister and not himself, Claudius was enraptured. He had been selected by the Shinigami himself. After the slew of rejections, his talent had finally been noticed. Proclaiming that he could not stay at home forever, Claudius abandoned his family name and replaced it with a new one of his own invention, "Westerson" (as well as adding a middle name for reasons unknown), before leaving home to join the new Spartoi. Both his parents and his sister attempted to inform him that she was the one who the letter was intended for, but this was a futile effort. He set off, telling his parents that when he saw them next, he would have conquered all magic.
He asked them to keep sending him money, though.
