Jackson and Sakura

As Jackson and Sakura are walking through a forest, Jackson carries a illuminated card that lights their path. Gradually, as they continue down the path, the amount of trees begin to thin, and they reach a small town below them that is facing a darkened sea. As they begin their descent down the path, Jackson puts away the lit card and proceeds to analyze the layout of this small coastal village.
The village is sloped, going from the position of Jackson all the way to the sea. Two large cliffs wall off the sides of the town, preventing anyone from approaching from the sides of the village. Many of the buildings line the streets that all connect the sea and the forest together. At the shore are many docks where several ships are staying.
Hastily, Jackson guides Sakura through the town, avoiding the people that move about during the late night. Eventually, he reaches docks and upon doing so, a large man in sailor's clothing greets him.
"I express my greatest gratitudes, cousin. I presume that by morning my sister and I will be at Hargeon?" Jackson asks.
In response, the man replies, "Yes." As he confirms, Jackson's cousin walks up to his ship. "She's one of the fastest ships there is. Also, I'll give ya and your little sis some lodging and food. After all, that large sum of money you gave me is more than enough to cover the costs."
"Yes. There was much pain in getting that amount of currency. Anyways, let us embark." Both Jackson and Sakura board the ship, ready to leave behind those six terrible years of abuse and pain.

"....Oh and by the way, if you see a short woman with pink hair lost in the crowds, please return her to me."

Jessie blinked, looking up, "Oh. That's me!" she giggled into her microphone and wove her way through the crowd again, searching for Ferris, "Anyone wanna point me in the direction he is?" She asked people as secontinued to wriggle, push, and squeeze her way past people, soon finding him, she settled herself in his lap.

"I think you found me" She said with a giggle, not caring that she was still on her microphone "Just look at this wonderful turnout, so many fabulously dressed mages! what a display of power!'@hatakekuro

Carrie sighed softly as Mayt appraoched her. "You need not worry" She said, "Phoenix Wing was already punished and pardoned for that. It is in the past, now" She assured him, shifting slightly, and glancing to Zephyr, as if to say see? Trouble always finds me, before looking back to Mayt, "I do not blame you"

He was slightly surprised she actually sat down without that much of a fuss, he was half expecting to bribe her into it. Yet here she was sitting down, probably shouldn't think too much upon it. Which was when she made her comment about over charging him to which he smirrk and rubbed the back of his head. "That would be shocking of you. Get it? Hahaha." Zephyr said making a pun out of it, before his laugh fell to a silence as she would ask him why he even cared as it made no sense. "What are you talking about? I care because I couldn't live with myself if I walked away from someone suffering right in front of me. You're smart Carrie, you shou-"

Yet before he could finish his sentence a stranger walked over apologizing for interrupting, yet he stated he had to properly apologize for running Carrie through, saying it was a heat of the moment thing. To which Carrie said it was in the past seeing as how Phoenix Wing was already punished, she also made sure to shoot him a look which he gave a smile and shrug. He then rubbed the back of his head as he looked between the two. "So I don't feel like a third wheel, how does one run someone through in the heat of the moment? That phrase is more so used in the same sentence with romance. Of course no need to tell me if you don't wanna. Just a tad curious is all."

Malice Hardt

As a mischievous smile appeared on Indigo's face, she herself couldn't help but smile. The woman may have caused her immense embarrassment yet the two were a lot alike. "Oh I know I have harmless fun all the time, although mine might not be as harmless. In the end you are married, which means you love someone greatly. I however am not tied down by such weight. Kind of better that way if you ask me." Malice said giving a small mischievous smile of her own. She noticed Indigo's attention start scanning the room, before returning to meet malice's gaze, asking her a question. When did she suppose something would happen, stating a few certain royals should be making an appearance after the abrupt end to the games. Malice's smile faded real fast, and turned into a frown. She began to remember just how she was robbed of even a chance to redeem herself, after nothing but failures. Destroyed within seconds thus having the fastest game match in history. Getting blown out of an event by her very own brother. Yet to top it all off, she couldn't even strike at the opportunity at the very end of letting the other guilds destroy each other, then destroying the survivor. Her frown began to grow a bit, to a size that most mouths shouldn't be able to achieve. One could see the clear anger simply by looking at her. Yet she being a respectable lady managed to compose herself, her extended frown shrinking back to a normal size neutral expression.

Folding her arms a bit she would look around the room, as if hoping to find those royals with her own eyes. "Oh I agree that an appearance from them is needed. Unless they don't want to give us a proper explanation that is. Then a room full of annoyed people is all on them." Malice said shifting her look back to Indigo. "So you're married huh? Kind of young if I'm being honest, yet I guess some just find true love early. Is your husband here, as in a member of Frenzy Plant." Malice asked thinking Indigo was around the same age as her, not knowing she was in fact her elder by a few years even.

Jackson and Sakura

"Big brother, I don't feel so well..." Sakura says as she holds onto Jackson's clothing. Jackson kneels down onto the wooden floor and places his right hand on Sakura's dirty hair.
As he gazes into Sakura's sparkling eyes, Jackson replies to Sakura, "Don't worry little sis. Some people get sick riding boats." Jackson attempts to force a smile and look as healthy as ever. This doesn't work on Sakura, as she immediately reads his face and discovers that Jackson too is under a spell of sickness. She giggles slightly.
"You're sick like I am, big brother!" Sakura exclaims excitingly while point at his face. Jackson give a soft yet hearty laugh in response to his sisters observant eyes.
"Yes I am, little sis." As he finishes those words, Jackson recollects on what had just occurred. He realizes that a sum of time has passed since Jackson and Sakura had departed for their new life. As the boat jumped, rocked, and heaved, the two of them stayed within the lodgings that their generous cousin had given them. In their room, Jackson sees the oaken, iron studded door behind Sakura, the sturdy glass windows on the left wall, and a round table in the center of the room that is surrounded by seats that are all fixed to the floor. As Jackson finishes his assessment, he also remembers that behind him are the seats that he and his sister were sitting on and the lacrima lantern that hangs from the ceiling.
"Big Brother?" Sakura asks. As she says this, Jackson turns his head to face Sakura.
"Yes?" He replies.
"I'm bored." Jackson gives a soft chuckle in response to his sisters announcement.
"Okay. Do you want to play cards?"
As Jackson says those words, Sakura's eyes immediately light up with excitement. She gasps and begins to hop in a circle. "Cards! Cards! Cards! We get to play Cards!"
"Yes we do," Jackson says as he watches his sister bounce up and down in jubilee. After a short moment, Jackson lifts himself up with his legs and walks towards table, taking a seat at one of the stationary stools. Sakura giggles happily as she quickly rushes to climb on one of the stools.
"Oh, cards! Cards! Cards!"
"Yes, cards, Sakura, cards," Jackson says lovingly. From his belt, Jackson procures his magic cards that he had carefully made during his free time. Memories of the effort it took to engrave the backs and to draw the faces of the cards return the fond feelings Jackson had during his time with these cards. Jackson continues to wander through his mind, eventually arriving to his mother. He remembers her love, her caress, her-
"Jackson!" Sakura exclaims.
"Oh! Sorry little sis!" Immediately Jackson begins to deftly shuffle the cards. As the cards run against his skin, he begins to focus his magic into the cards, causing them to glow slightly. Sakura begins to laugh excitingly in anticipation of the game that the two about to play. The cards gradually get brighter and brighter until they become glowing, pure white. Suddenly, a small cloud of white sparkles explode from the cards, causing Sakura to squeal with thrilling emotion. The cards are dealt out expertly by Jackson. After dealing out five cards to both himself and his sister, Jackson lays out the cards in a rectangular pattern and places the rest in the middle. The game is about to begin.

Edarn/Karn || Crocus || Ballroom

@CirusArvennicus

Edarn flicked her ethereal glowing green eyes toward... two people had decided to approach her, her face back to the relaxing monotone that didn't have emotion on it. The male seemed a big confused over her attire, looking for his companion for confirmation in which she gave one. She had to resist rolling her eyes and automatically correcting her, except this time the woman was technically right. Edarn wasn't exactly a girl anymore. Despite this world's Karn probably acting more girlish then she herself did who was born as one. Did it really matter though? The only definite difference was what was their general body structure. One was made to pump out children, the other was sculpted to plant the seed. Different weight shift from chest to groin. Some may say the mindset it also different and perhaps to some extent that was true, but there were those that had the same thought process as the opposite gender. Bah who the fuck gives a shit? She didn't at the moment.

"Salutations. I'm Karn. Enjoying the ball so far?" she greeted and made small conversation, returning the handshake, her grip firm. Back home, you don't hold back a good healthy strong handshake. If you wimped out on it then you were a cowardly wimp, or just lazy. Plus it just left a general bad impression and was quite rude. She didn't really recognize these two. They were supposedly from some sort of Guild if they were here, still she wasn't positive.

Not like she particularly cared if they were or weren't.

Prince || Crocus || Ballroom

@Caits

"Doesn't change the fact he helped blindly. What would of happened if perhaps, the council asked first? No, he wouldn't purposely kill anyone, but he'd still help in a fight." Prince mused before looking toward 'Karn' for a moment. "It wouldn't be a surprise if he was assisting this ghost with controlling his magic, but that doesn't mean he isn't getting taken advantage of. After all, have you really seen him show himself, his real self, so far tonight? Possession is a tricky thing really. It's like... being put into a Portable toilet together. Sure, two people can stay in there together, cramped but still together. But it's much easier to push the other out, or make them share the smallest room possible. Plus, who knows what someone who uses trickery will do, with the very magic that usually is a stereotype of trickery. When taught, they could simply let Karn... disappear." he hummed thoughtfully.

Jack Goran|Brokering Peace

Watching Amelia walk away, a mental sigh was released. Ignoring the members of Phoenix Wing would not begin the road to repairing relations, but he supposed that was why he was here. As Master Sanders spoke, Jack listened and waited, allowing the other man to say his piece before answering. "Perhaps we should begin with simply the origin of Frenzy Plant. The rumors are simply that, rumors."

Damian Gerard|Dancing the Edge

Damian chuckled, not answering right away as the music changed and moving with it. After the first song ends, however, he speaks. "This sigil belongs to the 137th Border Protection Unit, known as the Iron Knights. Disbanded upon a high cost victory on an undisclosed field of battle. This sigil is the sigil of the unit my father lead and my mother was a part of. Getting the old dress uniform refitted was one of my errands today."

Jake Ronan|A Night to Remember

Jake laughed as they reached the ballroom and leading the way in before taking the dance floor. "If we can avoid any jabs from Hunter, I'll count my nerves off as being unnecessary, but I'm nervous too." Moving through the crowd of dancers, he spots Master Jack speaking with Sanders and frowns. It surprised him to see, since he wasn't sure how Dragon Fang's close relation with Phoenix Wing would affect interactions with Frenzy Plant's members and master.

Mako Kurohiko, Exiled Warrior|Road out of Crocus

As the crowds within the grand Stadium built for the first Grand Magic Games since Fairy Tail won over a century ago watched and cheered for the competitors who duked it out inside the city, a single cloaked figure had found his way back to the road that had brought him to the city and was walking back down it. The man he had searched for lay on the edge of death in a medical facility, but Mako had not killed him. His honor had been reclaimed so far as his family need know and the man's past, though eager he had been for a rematch, could be put to rest. Mako could recall the fight clearly, including his challenge to the man who had been responsible for so much change in the young man's life.

Rosalina Idwal had not attempted to interfere with the Isvanian's code of honor, which had proven to be a surprise of it's own. Most people in Fiore didn't understand the way Isvanian's held honor so high, nor did they care to. In fact, only a year prior, a bartender and several of the establishment's patrons had attempted to teach Mako a lesson about "bringing his foriegn bull shit" with him. The result had been less than pleasant for the five men, who each had earned a different broken bone to nurse for a few months. All the same, Rosalina hadn't gotten in the way, simply informing him that the man's name was Boris. When she opened the door to the Boris' post, he followed her in, waiting until he noticed them and approached, saluting before speaking. "Captain Idwal, I didn't expect to see you so soon. What do you need?" Rosalina hadn't spoken, simply beckoned to the young Isvanian to step forward, which Mako did. The man frowned, not recognizing him from their encounter five years prior. Or that was, until Mako spoke.

"Five years ago, you lead a group of bandits on an attack on a convoy that I was charged with protecting. More specifically, I was charged with protecting an Ambassador from Isvan. That night, you bested me in combat and slew my charge. As a result of my inability to both best you and protect the Ambassador, I lost my honor. Five years, since my recovery, I have searched for you. And now that I have found you, I must ask that you fight me, that I might reclaim my honor and return to my home." The large man didn't waste any time, attaching a saber to his wrist after removing the hand that had been in the socket.

"A rematch with the punk who broke three ribs and my nose? Damn straight I'll do it." The saber was far from the viscious weapon that he had wielded the night he'd hit the caravan, but the image flashed through Mako's mind all the same, causing him to grimace slightly. I will not loose again. Not this time. Once Boris was ready, he and Mako stepped outside, the ten or so other soldiers and Rosalina following to observe the fight. Mako only took enough time to shed his cloak and pack, revealing his red tunic, olive pants and light black shoes. They stood across from each other, Mako sliding into a Dragon Style ready stance, and for several moments, no movement or sound came from either of the pair. Then, with a yell, the former bandit leader charged forwards, his movement growing faster as his magic kicked in, speeding it up beyond normal human measure.

As he came within striking distance, his saber swung for Mako's torso, the Dragon Tatoo lit up a light blue once more and Mako dodged under the blow, delivering a rising palm strike to the man's chin. While it did stagger him, Boris maintained both his footing and consciousness and countered with a punch aimed at Mako's chest. The smaller man deflected the blow to his left and delivered a powerful elbow strike to his opponent's gut, doubling him over. At this moment, as Mako's knee then connected with the former bandit's face, it became clear the fight was over. The knee blow forced his head to snap back and Mako immediately delivered a series of short, quick, and powerful punches to his chest and abdomen, Dragon Chi Enhancement magic adding yet more power. Sliding his left foot back, Mako delivered a powerful snap kick to his opponent's chin, stumbling him back, and then both of the martial artist's throwing glaives snapped into his hands, their blades extending. He could hear the soldiers and Rosalina gasp in surprise, but tuned them out.

Boris, who had managed to somewhat recover from the flurry of blows, swing his saber towards Mako, who caught the blade with one glaive and attempted to slice off the metal fitting, only to recieve a punishing punch to the head for his lack of foresight. Stumbling back, Mako regained his balance in time to dodge an overhead slice and dance out of the way of a thrust. However, upon the larger man's next slash, Mako showed his greater skill, dodging under the blow once more and spinning with his glaives, slicing off the metal fitting and the saber blade by extension. Boris bellowed in pain, but the blows didn't stop, several slashes from the glaives appearing across his back as Mako attacked again. Hooking his opponent's foot, he tripped him to the ground and flipped into the finisher position as the glaive's blades raked his opponent's chest from the move. As he sat on the man's chest, his arm poised to remove Boris' head with the glaive and both of his arms pinned and he unconscious from the pain, Mako stopped.

Standing, he allowed the man's fellows to rush to his aid as he retrieved his things, stopping next to Rosalina as he walked away. "Tell him to consider my honor reclaimed when he awakes. And not to come searching for me, or I will not be so merciful."

After that, Mako had rented a room for the night and set out on the road shortly before the start of the final day of the Grand Magic Games. He was finally able to return home after five years in Fiore, to see his mother and father and siblings and grandparents and uncles and aunts and cousins and all his family. But as he walked, a sense of forboding began to settle on his mind, one he couldn't shake off. After all this time, with his honor reclaimed, why did he feel so on edge?

It was several hours later, after nightfall, that he arrived in a town to rest. Renting a room, he walked to it, closed the door and locked it before settling into his nightly meditation before bed. Perhaps sunrise would see a better outlook on the future.

"Except that perhaps they need karn alive, to share the body. Who knows? its not like something like this has happened before" Gabriel said, watching Karn, and shrugging. "There has to be a way...for them both to exist independantly of the other. I...hm" Gabriel trailed off, thoughtful now, before shaking his head. "There has to be a way, right?"

@Zarkun
"oh" Penny said, softly, moving with him. "Why did you bring it back out?" She asked, surprised to find she was unsure. She didn't like uncertainity, and yet she was feeling quite often lately, and it wasn't something that she wanted to become a habit.

Amelia Averyonna

@Roseletta

Amelia wasn't alone for long when someone approached her. It was the boy from earlier today. She cast him a glance out of the corner of her eye before looking back at the food.
"It's nothing special. Just adults acting like children over something stupid." She said before looking back at him. "What do you want? You're not a stalker or anything are you? Because if you are, you will quickly learn to regret that. If you aren't... well, I guess that I can use some experience talking to someone around my age."

Pyrrha Arvanitas

@Zarkun

Pyrrha saw the direction that Jake was staring at and followed his gaze to Master Jack and Master Sanders.
"Do you think there will ever truly be peace between the guilds?" She asked, her tone one of deep concern. Frenzy Plant was an enigma to her and she found it hard to figure out what they were truly after, especially given how secretive they were, to the point that it bordered on paranoia. If they weren't willing to open up, then the chances for an understanding where slim to none.

Games Master sheldon, Games master to the first magical games in over 100 years, waited for his entrance. As the song changed to one of dramatic type, Sheldon readied himself. As the last dying tunes, sheldon seemed to appear from no where, on a plateform above the dancers, the guilds. He surveyed the crowd, the unbalanced young man appeared to be too excited even speak before his voice came booming from everywhere.

"Weeeeelllll weelll well! Its been such a pleasure, a delight indeed, to have been your...master for these games. Ti certainly had its ups and downs, thats for sure. And boy did we see some amazing mages! I for one can't wait to see what is in store for us next games! I know it didn't end as well as we might have hoped, given that there was no clear winner, I think we all learned a little something about each other, about what it is to be mages, about what magic is all about." Behind him, a screen appeared, videos flashing of the battles and events, some of the best moments of the games. Sheldon twirled about, and chuckled.

"Its been amazing, I'm almost sad to see it end, but you all no doubt have things you need to get back to, your guilds, people to help, money to earn, magic to show the world. Its been a wonderful expereince, and even I could not choose a winner. You've all been amazing, really, but....farewell, the games are at an end" Sheldon seemed to disappear just as quickly as he appeared, the music dying away, a clear sign that the ball was over, or nearing its end.

Master Jamie scooped up an exhuasted Samantha, the young girl clutching her mother tightly "Ameeeeeeeeeellllllllllliiiiiiiia!" Sammy managed to call out, seeking her older sister, even as Jamie searched for guild members, telling them that they should be back at the hotel within a hour, they'd head back to the guild in the morning.

"I'm proud of you all, you handled yourselves quite well, despite some issues. You showed what Phoenix Wing is about, and whatever the future holds, I know you will always carrying that light, that passion that makes us" Jamie said, to her members, "Have a last little bit of fun, because tomorrow its back to usual"

Cody Bloodstein and Sora Kaze

Cody wiped the sweat from his brow, grimacing slightly as he shakily got back to his feet. He had to use his sword to steady himself before he could now face the unimpressed Sora standing before him.
"Is that really the extent to your strength kid?" He asked with a sigh as he tossed a scroll from one hand to the other.
...That scroll. That was the whole reason why Cody was so battered and bruised right now. This man said he was going to be busy and had something he wished to discuss with Cody, the gist of it being what was on that parchment of paper. However he said he wanted to see fight Cody first? Was this guy seriously going to be busy? He had enough time to start a fight after-all.
"Not only is your sword-skills beyond pathetic, your magic is also below average at best. No imagination whatsoever, generic. Boring. I doubt you could cause trouble for a three year old." Sora's tone was casual, but his words were harsh and unforgiving. Each insult he threw Cody's way just made the youth angrier.
What the hell did this guy now anyway?!
"Hell you can't even use your sword and magic at the same time yet. And you seriously want to bring an entire dark guild down? An absolute riot you are." Sora stepped to the right as Cody swung at him for what felt like the fiftieth time tonight, his blade harmlessly stabbing into the dirt and now Cody was met with Sora's knee crashing into his abdomen.
The blow winded the young mage as he crumpled to the ground, causing Sora to sighed loudly once again.
"See? You're armed, I'm not. You haven't even forced me to use any magic yet, but here you lay, battered, beaten and bruised. However-"
"Shut it."
Sora blinked in suprise as Cody cut him off and began pushing himself back up once more.
"I...I just need to land a blow right? That was the wager. I'll show you...you arrogant bastard." Cody mumbled, the strain on his face clearly showing as he bought his sword back to a ready position. Sora wasn't going to lie, this kid while he was weak was at least determined.
Sighing heavily again, Sora shoved his hands in his pockets and much to Cody's surprise now turned to leave. After taking a few steps Cody now called out to him.
"H-hey where the hell are you going?!" Cody went to follow, but found he couldn't walk straight just yet and almost stumbled facefirst into the ground. Sora stopped for a moment and glanced over his shoulder, shaking his head in mild disbelief.
"I grow bored of this. Maybe I'll show you the scroll another time kid, right now I don't think you're strong enough to handle the responsibility I've had to shoulder for the last couple of years." Sora now turned to go again but not without one more comment.
"Never give up kid, you're too weak to be afforded that luxury." And with that Cody was alone with nothing but the cold night air and moonlight to keep him company.

Ashlyn Johnson

@Raijinslayer
First this man had the gall to, admittedly accidentally, knock her food out of her hands but now he seemed to be spacing out completly and ignoring her? That didn't exactly help her mood, then again she was a pretty moody girl sometimes so it wasn't difficult.
"Hmm? Is that so?" The pyromancer hummed as Argus finally returned the introduction. So he was new to the guild as well? Suppose they were in the same boat then.
"Argus Leandros?" Ash repeated softly, whether or not he heard her didn't really seem to bother her though. The name seemed to roll off the tongue easily enough, so she repeated it a few more times in her head while happily munching on....what the hell is this?
Looking down at the cake-like item in her hand she shrugged her shoulders before eating the rest of it. It wasn't bad, whatever the hell this was. But man the food was fancy here...
She was snapped out of her rather pointless thoughts about the strange looking cake by Argus speaking up again. After the second silence he went into, she had legitimately forgotten about him due to how distracted by the cake she had been.
He now went on to say one of the most awkwardly spoken compliments of all time, to the point that Ash simply couldn't help but laugh at his obviously nervous demeanor.
"You think so?" Ash responded, the question more directed to how she looked good in it than anything else. She didn't think such a thing was her style, but then again she honestly didn't care much for fashion. She was always more interested in fireproof clothes than flashy clothes, after all if it couldn't survive her magic then owning it would be pointless. Might as well walk around naked then, as that's what would happen.
"I know right? I don't like it one bit myself. It doesn't suit my style ya know? I like to be able to run, duck, punch, sway...you know. Melee, up close and personal fighting. Close enough to see the fear in their eyes as you punch their lights out." Ash did a few movements to indicate what she was talking about it, which would've looked weird and spontaneous from any onlooker's perspective.
"Though I do wonder if it would rip or burn away first." She added thoughtfully as she gave him a subtle hint as to what her magic might entail. Not that the hint would matter anyway because she was about to tell him anyway.
"My magic? Well I suppose Fire Magic would be the best way to describe it." Ash now realised her plate was empty as she went to grab another morsel from it but all she managed was air. She couldn't eat this!
"Since I told you mine, it's only fair right? What magic do you use?" Ash asked, glancing about the room as she was starting to feel restless. She needed to do something, fight, move...something.
"I mean you sorta give off a...weird vibe. Familiar too. Though I can't quite place my finger on it."

Angela Terra and Lilith Johnson

@Oblivion666
When Indigo started chuckling for no apparent reason naturally Angela looked up at him with a slight bit of concern. She was fairly used to the crazy antics of her fellow guild members, but despite Indigo's rather...eccentric ways, he was still one of the less crazier ones. Most of the time anyway, Angela had yet to see anything otherwise anyway. So she wasn't too sure why he was laughing like that all of a sudden, nor did Lilith who looked at him quizzedly without dropping her spine-chilling smile.
It wasn't until Indigo gave Angela that look that she realised why. She wasn't stupid, he was about to do or say something stupid here but he didn't care.
Angela couldn't suppress the small giggle she let out into Indigo's shirt at his response now. Lilith however didn't seem to see the funny side as her eyes darkened and it felt a lot darker and colder now than it should. Lilith's smile didn't budge an inch despite the annoyance her eyes now clearly conveyed to her fellow guildmates. However the annoyance and the chilling presence she let out quickly vanished, her eyes lighting up with amusement while her smile widened.
"That was exactly why I was asking you. Arthur for such a great dance partner, he is a boring man...all he ever sprouts is Georgie." Lilith spoke with a playful tone as she took a few steps towards Indigo.
"James is always following that Jessica girl around like a puppy...it's quite adorable actually." Lilith was now standing a few inches away from Indigo and Angela, her smile not fading for a moment....until now.
"And I can't stand that disgustingly pure Manami, nor her little puppet Shiro....oh I don't think you would know, but those two are part of the reason why Georgie is calling us back. They started a fight...and well the idiots couldn't even pick one they could win. Laughable isn't it? The one who is always preaching went and started a fight with a light guild?" Lilith spat out her words as she talked about Manami, causing Angela's grip on Indigo's shirt to tighten. Especially when she went on to mention that, more or less, they had gone and lost to a light guild.
Lilith seemed to notice Angela's reactions to the news about Manami, her smile soon reappearing as a result.
"Oh don't worry little one they're fine, unfortunately. Well as fine as you can be after being absolutely humiliated like that. Though Manami seems a little worse for ware, such a shame that, Shiro is her usual boring self. I wouldn't have mentioned them otherwise." Lilith turned her attention back to Indigo now.
"And the only other member I can find right now is...well I'm sure little Angela here knows who. I would rather not hang around a man that reeks to the high heavens of rotting corpses. Especially one that might find someone like myself a most...delectable snack. And not in the way I would like it to be." Lilith added vaguely as she got up on her tiptoes and wrapped her arms around Indigo's shoulders, leaning in close to his ear as she pressed her voluptuous frame into him.
"I would rather travel with someone who is a little more willing to...have some fun." She whispered softly and suggestively into his ear before letting go and taking a few steps backwards.
"The night isn't getting any younger now is it? While I would love to have some fun in the capital since I'm rarely ever here...we do have a deadline to return by unfortunately, so it'll have to wait till next time. We all leave tonight, all nine of us."

Ryan and Emily

"Oh, we've been enjoying it. Live music and a great snack bar, how could I refuse?" Ryan's own handshake was firm, not lacking. "You'll have to excuse Emily, she's never really been a party person. At least, she's never enjoyed the social part... Oh!" He'd been punched in the shoulder effectively, by his supposed guildmate, before she grabbed him and drug him off to the dance floor.

The Hand That Gives The Rose

"Waltz with me."

Trinity Stratos

To call her movements a dance was misleading. The minstrel moved as though in a trance, the music following through her body, her mind, and her soul. Her sharp baton movements reflect the crisp rhythm.

~~~~~
Sheldon brought things to a close, with was Trinity's cue to... play them out, perhaps. When a thought struck her. She had a wish. And her friend had a problem. A very... easily definable problem, that if words were power, could be undone simply. She reached into her pocket and produced the gold coin Nero had given her. She'd not spent it, she made sure of that. She turned it over once and nodded, before looking around keenly. She needed a fountain, probably.
Ferrin Astra
Mors Vincent Omni
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3
"I Should. Have. Known." Ferrin groaned. "The way my week has been-- no, the way my life had been," he complained loudly as he pulled off a boot and upended it, dumping an ocean of water with a fish or two on the rocky earth. "That there would just happen..." He continued as he set that boot aside and did the same with the other, with similar results. "...t-to be..."
He pulled off his socks and glove and wrung them out.
"a-an ice c-c-c *acho!* cold..."
He sniffed, took of his coat, and shook it out, the spelled cloth repelling the water completely.
LAKE, right b-below..."
He shucked out of his shirt, and wrung it out. His shivering got worse.
"The v-very s-s-p-pot I decid-ded to- *acho!*"
He sneezed.
...t-tunnel through!" He complained futility and loudly.
Ferrin consided pulling off his pants too, but he decided that doing so would be even more demeaning and would only make him colder. Instead, he muttered profanities under his breath, as he focused on casting a gentle heat spell that would warm him without seeting him aflame, which was harder then it sounds. He gritted his teeth to stop them from rattling as he took short breaths and jumped in place a bit to get his blood flowing, as silly as it may have looked, he knew it would help. Just when incinerating himself started to sound like an enticing option, he could feel traces of warmth creep across his cold limbs. His shivering finally stopped. Within a minute, steam rose gently from his body, the water evaporating right off him. He put his shirt back on, the renewed cold a brief shock before it too began to steam. He put on his cold socks and gloves, followed by his boots. He got to his feet, his boots squelched and his feet were immersed in individual puddles of cold.
Ferrin sighed.
A thought occured to him, and he squished over to to inspect the offending body of water that had the bad grace to catch him.
The light from the luminous light-sphere he had cast earlier glittered off of a thin layer of ice.
This was unnatural, but Ferrin regarded it without surprise. After all, he knew firsthand how cold it was. He had fallen in the damn thing. I wonder, how could a lake so close to the surface be frozen? Hm, Magic has to have something to do with it. He preformed a thorough search of the area, but he found nothing out of sort, just rocks, frozen fish, and the occasional scuttling bug. He gave up with a shrug and a grunt of "Weird."
Under normal circumstances, he would have kept searching until his curiosity had been satisfied but he had a job to do. Investigating frozen water was not high on his priority list.
While he searched, Ferrin was able to examine the the dark, wet cavern he found himself in. To his right, he found a tunnel that stretch out into darkness. To his left, the massive, cold lake flowed into the distance; he couldn't see the other shore. Behind and in front, there was only grey stone.
Crossing the lake would be far too difficult, but if that is the direction I need to go... With a flick of his fingers, he idly sent the light-sphere zooming over the lake. He watched it fall until it landed, by its light, he caught a glimpse of the far shore. Ferrin was just about to call up another one, but he froze. Oh hell! If I was really that close, the light would give me away, not to mention all the noise I've been making. Think moron! Thus chastised, he decided to examine the tunnel, and if he found nothing, retrace his steps.
The entrance, barely a cleft in the rock, got narrower as Ferrin went deeper. He had to stoop, and occasionally crawl to go through. Fortune smiled on him, though as the tunnel lined up with a spoke of the massive magic circle. Soon, he saw a faint, but eeire purple light, far ahead. Either that is black magic, or I'm no wizard." He thought, trying to keep his nerves still. Villains love their strange colors, purple, green, red. All favorites of the type of wizards that put on black hats and call themselves 'dark wizards'.
...dammit, I hope they are all right. And that I am not too late.
Ferrin crept closer to the light, and cautiously peered around the edge. The tunnel lead out into a truly massive cavern, the ceiling soared high overhead, out of sight, and enormous stalagmites and stalactites had formed pillars connecting the stony heaven to the ground below. Other tunnels entrances could be seen from Ferrin's hiding place, making him suspect that no matter what tunnel you went through, you would pass through this room. Overall, the place gave off the feeling of being manmade, it was too angular, too perfect. Rusted mine carts and rails confirmed this. The cavern was lit by soly by a massive magic circle, laid with geometric perfection and glowing with dim but adequate purple light. Inside the circle were smaller concentric circles, and running between them were thin lines exactly like, Ferrin realized, the circle laid over the city. The whole thing practically hummed with the amount of gathered magic energy. In the center of all of this, was a strange figure dressed in a slightly ragged black robe with white trims and a purple slash down the front, flanked by jagged yellow stripes. The strangest thing about her was the skull of some horned animal she wore on her head, covering one of her eyes. She had her visible eye shut, and she was chanting words that rang with mystic power. At her feet was a bound and gagged Twin. Ferrin's heart leapt when he saw them move. They were alive. But not out of danger.
Ferrin ducked back into cover and quickly considered his course of action. He decided to go with the simplest, and most practical. He took a deep breath, stepped out of hiding, brought his Gauntlet parallel to the ground...and fired. The magic bullet got within ten feet of the figure, then exploded in a brilliant burst of sparks. For a moment, the air lit up with a rippling glow; where once there was nothing, there was now a cylinder of light that faded quickly. Oh, hell. A magic barrier. So much for surprise.
The figure neither flinched, nor misspoke as they avoided death by mere feet. The figure did stop it's chant, and turned to face Ferrin. "A sneak attack from the shadows? Not a very honorable way to start a fight." The figure said.
"No but a great way to end them." Ferrin shot back, his mind racing. Unnoticed, the Twin stirred. Now that Ferrin had a better view, he definitely see that the figure was woman, though her figure was obscured, she had feminine figures, and long purple hair. He was also slightly shocked to see that her right arm was thin and white. Bone white. In fact it was literally skeletal. The sleeve ended at her shoulder, leaving the bone bare. Her eye was the next he noticed, it reflected the violet light with an eerie radiance. "Ferrin, I presume." The voice was calm and in control.
How genteel. What the hell? I'll play along.
"Yes, that name would be belong to me, but you have the advantage, for I do not know what name belongs to you."
The woman's lips curled into a smile. "Yuura Kumori would be mine." She said. "I suppose I could explain my masterly crafted eeevil plan to you while gloating that you don't have a chance of success, but honestly, my Master is not so sure. He sees you as a potential inconvenience and has ordered me to use excessive force to eliminate you."
"Little ol' me? An inconvenience? Gee, I'm flattered." Ferrin interjected.
"Then consider it an honor for me to show you my power." She spread her arms wide, and Ferrin abruptly felt a great surge of power emanate from her.
"Wizard of Magic, so full of Life.
Surrender now in the face of strife.
For this is the end of the path you have lead.
Soon you shall join the ranks of the Dead."
The ground of the cavern rumbled as cracks formed and widened. The air filled with the sound of shifting stone, grinding and fracturing. Skeletal hands shot up, some with cloth and flesh still attached, followed by heads, shoulders and legs.
A horrible stench washed over Ferrin, the stench of rot and decay. He gagged slightly.
Rows and rows of corpses in various stages of decay assembled before him, one looked centuries old, little more than mummified remans, another looked like it could still be saved by a snappy doctor. There were whole ones, ones missing limbs, ones dripping unidentifiable fluids, ones that bore wounds of battle. Most clutched weapons, traditional ones like swords, bows and axes, and improvised ones like bars and wood planks. About half wore armor that was as varied as they were. But every one of them had the same glowing purple eyes. Their ranks grew with every passing second, already, he couldn't even see Kumori and the Twin. Ferrin drew in a shuddering breath.
"Quite the lively party here." This isn't good. I'm falling back on wisecracks.
Every eye, dead and undead was focused on him. The assembled army was absolutely quiet.
Then a ringing command broke the silence:
"Kill Him."
Oh shit.
"Achoo!"
Two months later
Sasha
Two months, never a long time, really. Yet a lot can happen in a day, and with sixty of them, who knew what could happen? Yet the last two months have been oddly calm, aside from building environmental disasters, increase in earthquakes. All of which, Sasha investigated. Spending time away from the guild, Sasha traveled far and wide, sometimes using teleportation lacrima, sometimes just traveling. Throughout it all, Sasha continued her research into finding Tenuru island, each quake getting her closer and closer, she thought, to the island’s location. While she wanted it to be a cross guild effort, looking for the island ended up being a sort of solo quest, both because it was tedious and also because...she wanted the time alone, or with Lazarus. After a few weeks away, Sasha was just returning from the guild, entering the main hall, she glanced about, smiling slightly.
The two months traveling seemed to have taken a slight toll of the small woman, causing her to appear tired, and worn, but she seemed to have a softer look to her, one that didn’t make her seem weaker, but rather stronger, as she walked towards the bar, setting her notebook, battered and full of loose papers, down on the surface, sliding onto a seat, she glanced about her, to see who was in the guild hall, her mark was visible with the low-cut loose shirt she wore, her demeanor slightly changed from the timid girl she was, even a year ago. She was wearing comfortable traveling pants, her boots practical for such, and her hair, longer with 2 months growth, was pulled back from her face in a pony-tail.
Dust covered, Sasha didn’t seem to even notice the travel grim on her, instead she seemed quite comfortable in it, and she leaned back against the counter, facing the room at large, waiting it seemed for something, reaching for water and taking a sip.
Beneath them, the ground rumbled, a small shake, nothing more, and Sasha sighed. By now, message lacrima would be reaching the other guilds, Dragon Fang, Riders Blade and Frenzy Plant high on her list. For what was to come, she knew, would take them all.
Greetings, Guild Masters.
I hope you are up to date with the recent natural events happening. I have been investigating them, and have found, what I believe, is the source. I would like to extend an invitation to speak with you all, and see about a partnership, for the good of Fiore.
Phoenix Wings “Ice Queen”, Sasha Shin.
A call to arms
[br]
Master Jamie
Master Jamie stood in her now organised office, frowning over the neatness and...starkness to it, wondering why she had ever let Jarvis talk her into letting him organise it. Jobs to be approved now lined an almost duplicate version of the job board in the common room, member information was filed away neatly, contacts and other files separately, and on her desk stood individual shots of guild members, and a group shot of her own little family, which she had to smile over, her arms wrapped around both girls, Jarvis a constant, steady presence, arms around them all. She sighed.
She supposed she could put up with the...neatness. Even if it felt alien. Surely it wouldn’t feel that way forever. It couldn’t, right? She frowned, and gathered some of her files, setting them on the desk, she read over the newest additions to it, contemplating it. With the rise in dark guild activities, Jamie had been encouraging members to work with the other guilds, trying to uphold the tentative relationships between the guilds, and perhaps make the link a bit stronger.
With everything, Jamie was worried about that the most. What was the come...she was a little fearful. She shook her head, and leaving her office, she glanced about the guild hall, smiling as she noticed that Sasha had returned once more, an air of confidence about the girl that warmed Jamie somewhat. She remembered when Sasha had first joined the guild, timid little thing. The last years events had changed them all. Reaching up, Jamie brushed back her blonde hair, smiling to herself.
For the better.
She caught Samantha as the girl charged ahead, the young girl energetic and too unpredictable, twirling her around before putting her down, ”now now, Sammy. Go find your sister, okay?” She said, glancing about to see the members that were at the base.
Time Lord
Time Lord stood atop a building in Magnolia. The young man stood steady, his cloak billowing in the wind, seeming to be unaware of the imagine he was making, like that of an avenging angel, his brown hair flowing in the wind, his dark eyes surveying the city, as if trying to see it utterly and completely, taking in every detail that he could.
He had always loved this city. The way it was, how it was laid out, the simple fact that it was...whole. Ever changing, but whole. So different...He sighed heavily, and made his way down from the building, landing on the ground smoothly, he began to walk, as he did so, he activated his newly learned archive magic. With all his research and knowledge, Time Lord had been trying to learn how to use archive magic, in order to always have the accumulated research with him at all times. He walked, looking up occassionally to make sure that there was no one he was about to walk into, frowning to himself, as he made his way to where things were about to happen.
He knew things had changed...but had they changed enough? Would he even know? the mere fact that he was still here was...troubling to say the least, and Time Lord was concerned that despite everything, he hadn't been able to change everything. Perhaps he had been too young, when he'd come here ten years ago...could he have truly understood everything, at such a young age?
He didn't know.
Of course, things were different...they could truly be prepared. They were truly prepared, and he dispelled the archive magic, slipping his hands in his pockets, just another young person moving in the crowd, his sights set to Phoenix Wing.
Two Month Span
Ariel and Nolan - Trip to Oak Town
@hatakekuro
Two weeks after the games.
Ariel and Marlene Mini-Arc - On a Job
@Lmpkio
One week ago.
Ariel - Phoenix Wing Guild Hall
@Caits
Over the last two months Ariel had been taking it easy, with exception to a couple trips to her parent's and a rather changing experience with Marlene. After having aquired a plethara of magicks at the Magic Games it had taken a while for her to adjust to them and the personality traits that accompany them. And at thing point things were looking up. Donning bright yellow told everyone that knew her that she was ready to go. Where? Anywhere, do anything, this was her excitable side and she didn't need much on an excuse.
Ariel's march to the job board got sidetracked when she noticed that Sasha was back and sitting at the bar. The woman had been in and out lately chasing after something or someone. Hard to say, at the time Ariel wasn't one to pry. But now she was. Zipping over Ariel wrapped her guildmate in a hug, seemingly oblivious to the dirt and grime. "Sasha your back! You look different. Whatcha been up to? Oh what's this?" There was barely a pause between sentences and she made a grab for Sasha's notebook. History said that Ariel would probably tire of the book quickly, at least in this state, unless something caught her eye.
"How the hell can paper weigh so much? Did they enchant it to actually weigh more?" Joshua replied jokingly as he followed Amaya. In exchange for helping her shop for books, he had dragged her along to look at possible swords he would buy in the future. So no, she hadn't forced him into anything, it had been a fair exchange as far as he was concerned. When Amaya moved away, he set the books down before joining her, Cecilia, Ariel and Sasha. Hearing Amaya's last question, he couldn't help but laugh. "She's happy to see her friend again. Sasha has been away for a while now, so I doubt Ariel will be the only happy one.
Though, I must admit Sasha, you look like you could use a bit of a bath."
Amelia Averyonna
@Caits
Amelia was in her room, watching the weather outside with her head against the window. She had been tired since he returned from a trip last month during which he had gotten another Rider Spirit, Archeon, Rider of Famine. She was also eating more then she used to, though this could also be contributed to her growing. When Sam finally found her, the preteen turned and smiled at her little sister.
"Hey there Sammy. What's going on?" She asked, getting up and kneeling down to Sam's height.
Elyse Yashia
@Roseletta
Elyse was bundled up and outside, playing in the snow that had fallen recently. She had been out for a while now and was getting bored, so she ran into the guild and over to her mother, giving Rose a hug.
"Mommy, I'm cold... and hungry!" She said brightly, a smile on her face, hoping she would be getting some hot chocolate.
Jackie and Aria
@Zarkun
The twins, who had come to collectively be known as the Maiden Sisters due to their titles, were outside the Dragon Fang guildhall, sparring with each other, building up Aria's endurance and fighting skills, which where lacking due to her having rarely fought anyone before, and building up both of the sister's resistance to the cold, though Jackie already showed that this didn't bother her much, probably due to her father's 'training'. At the moment, they were working on making Aria's Glass-Make constructs more durable, so that they could survive stronger blows and prove to be surprisingly durable, though they were willing to take any advice their guildmates might give them.
Rider's Blade
@Caits @Roseletta
Fraquar was going through the paperwork for his guild, which had increased with a small influx of requests and mages looking to join it. He was careful in screening new members, not wanting to let any unsavory sorts in but so far, everything had been good. As he looked through everything, he came across a package with a communication lacrima inside of it. After listening to it, he sighed before heading to the main area of his guild's hall.
"Lucus, can you call Rose for me?" He called out.
"Sure thing. Why?"
"I need to talk to Jamie but I'm not sure if she has the same kind of communication devices we do." Fraquar said.
Lucus sighed before pulling out his phone and dialing the number of the phone he had gotten Rose last time he had visited her and Elyse in Phoenix Wing.
[This Collab is too damn long.]
White Knights/Black Stars
Journey's End
Mid December, X892
Gregory fiddled with his pocket as he directed the group of mages following him to take a detour through the forest. Ahead of them along the road was a thin, tall woman with white hair being escorted by three mages. He could tell they were guild mages just by how they walked, not to mention they were almost all mages he had written reports about during the games.
"Yo, why are we going this way?" Mark asked, his hands relaxed in his pockets.
"There are some mages up in front of us, two of them are Dragon Fang members," Gregory explained. Mark nodded.
"So the plan is...?"
"Avoid them if at all possible. In the event of a fight, disable, don't kill. I don't want them to have any other reason to be hostile towards us," Gregory knew that wouldn't help, but he continued to hope. There might still be a chance he could get at least one light guild not to treat them horribly.
"You're too soft. We should leave their heads on pikes," Grant would speak up from the back of the group.
"No," Luna said flatly, giving Grant a glare. There was a long moment of silence before anyone spoke up.
"Are we at least almost there? Or, can we at least rent a magic car or something? I'm getting a bit tired of walking," Mark said. Gregory shook his head no.
"Sorry, but Pomegrand isn't as open about magic as Fiore has become in recent years. There aren't a lot of mages here, and the ones that are stay in hiding as much as they can," Gregory explained, keeping his voice down. "Alright, everyone, be quiet."
They slowed down and kept their mouths shut as they began to pass by the group of four mages. One of them was talking to the others in a chipper, excited voice. "I mean, it's only going to be another week or two of walking, but we should stop at least one day to celebrate the holidays! It'll be great, plus it'll be a great chance to see how they do it waaaay over here on the other side of Earthland!" The tall, white-haired woman was saying. Gregory stopped to listen to her, waving the others to go on ahead. "Besides, it'll be a great chance for me to get used to being on two legs. Which, obviously, I need to practice a good bit if I'm at all planning to keep using this form, which I'm thinking of doing. It's rather pleasant to be able to relax my magic some, instead of constantly trying to re-arrange and fix any problems my other forms still have..." The woman kept talking, but Gregory had heard enough to know it was Mithera. She must have thought that he was trying to impress Melina back into his guild, which was not his goal in the least. Why did everyone insist it was so wrong to go and see one's daughter again?
Shaking his head, he started walking quickly to catch up with the rest of his guild. None of them had payed enough attention to tell it was Mithera with the other mages, but they were waiting a little ways ahead for him.
"So, figure out why they are here?" Mark asked as soon as he was sure they were out of earshot of the group of wizards.
"Same reason we are: Melina," Gregory answered.
"Huh, small world. Makes me wonder what Melina is up to way out here in Pomegrand. I know she's a bit of a troublemaker, but she isn't starting a rival guild to ours, and she doesn't seem like the kind to go on a journey way out here just to enrich her cultural understanding. Hmm..." Grant chuckled at Mark's musings.
"It doesn't matter what Melina's up to Mark, just where she is," the blood mage interjected.
"Yeah, I guess. But I can still wonder. I mean, I sure as hell wouldn't come here just for the fun of it. It's like... A Bazillion miles away from home to start with. Plus the whole, magic persecution thing is a problem. Also, they've got a totally different language you'd have to learn, though a lot of them seem to know Fiorian, which is nice. Which makes me think that Fiore is like, the place to be. Or Minstrel is, since we speak the same language... Oh hey, when we head back, can we not go through Bosco again? It was kind of... Depressing."
"Yes, we can not go back through Bosco," Gregory responded.
"Cool, thanks Gregory," Mark gave the guild master a thumbs up. Luna rolled her eyes, despite agreeing with him.
Luna, thinking about what awaited her two weeks from now, moved away from the rest of the group so that they could keep talking without disturbing her too much. She wanted to tell Melina all about all the things that had happened in the guild in the past eight years, including how she, a sixteen year old, was already an S-Class member of a guild. She could also talk about how they had done in the grand magic games too, and some of the exciting adventures she had had recently... But what if she doesn't care about all that? The thought invaded Luna's mind, and stuck like a burr in her mind. What if she isn't excited to see me? It continued, and Luna shivered slightly. Melina had left the guild rather suddenly eight years ago, and she probably had good reason for it. A few members blamed Mithera, the adorable little dragon that Melina had brought home one day, but Luna never believed that. Melina must've wanted to leave already. Luna began to worry that it was really because of her. What if--
"Hey Luna!" Mark's voice interrupted her thoughts, causing her to snap up and look at him. "We're going this way, not towards the city," he continued. Luna looked forward, and saw that she was heading down the wrong branch in the road. Her cheeks felt hot, and she jogged to get back over to the rest of her guild. Mark smiled. "A little distracted eh?"
"Y-yeah," Luna admitted, blushing slightly.
"Well that makes sense, it had been a long time since you've seen Melina, and here we are tracking her down to see her after eight years. I wonder what she looks like by now..."
"Remember you're dating Laynette, please," Gregory added. Mark's cheeks turned red, as did Luna's as she remembered her and Arie stumbling on the two of them making out back in Crocus.
"H-hey, that's not what I meant. Besides, how did you find out?" Mark said, a little flustered.
"I run a guild that makes money on getting information, you think I don't find out when two of my members start going out?" Mark bit his lip.
"Y-yeah, but like, we aren't really, uhm, official yet or anything-"
"So going out on a long, romantic dinner on our last night in Crocus doesn't mean you're officially dating? My, how things have changed since I was still in the dating game," Gregory teased. Mark blushed more, and wrung his hands.
"Well, uh, you do have a good point, but I didn't want to tell everyone quite yet."
"Why not? I bet you two would be cute," Delilah chimed in, smiling.
"Y-yeah, but l-like... uhm... We've only been going out for a very short time, and we want to announce it when we're ready to announce it, I guess?" Mark said, trying to explain it.
"Oh I see, afraid to tell everyone in case it breaks down early," Grant suggested.
"N-no! Well, yes, b-but it seems like it's going good and that's not a problem. Look, guys, is all that we have to talk about? My love life?" Mark asked, trying to deflect.
"Pretty much," Delilah answered. Mark sighed.
"What about the games? I hear they got cut short," he tried.
"Yes, as you've said several times now. The games are done and over."
"U-uhm, what about why Mithera is here? Or what we're going to do when we inevitably end up confronting her?"
"We do the same as I suggested before. If it comes to a fight, try to disable, not kill. We're not quite a guild of murderers yet," Gregory replied. "Not to mention if there is a fight, we'll probably lose. It would be unusually lax of Jamie to leave one of his members without a way to get backup if they need it, and all of Phoenix Wing's best bearing down on us would not end well for us," Gregory said.
"Right, yeah," Mark said, not having thought of that. "Jeez those guys are jerks," everyone nodded in agreement, before falling into silent anticipation of what was yet to come.
Two Weeks Later
((Collaboratively worked on by @Burthstone, @Caits, @Crimson Raven, and@Zarkun))
Mithera yawned and stretched. After weeks of traveling by train, and the past couple on foot in the Pomegrand Kingdom, she was exhausted. The town they expected Melina to be in was not far now, and they hadn’t seen hide nor hair of Iron Enigma. She contemplated the idea that she had freaked out over nothing, but, then again, they had directly asked her where Melina was going. She glanced at her companions, and offered them a smile. Mithera had mastered many a normal human function on the trip, which she knew would help her in the future if she continued to use her human form.
Mithera, Valak, Zen, and Joslyn had only recently set off from camp, leaving plenty of time to finally catch up with Melina, talk with her, and find a map to the nearest train station. Mithera would turn around and face her companions, walking backwards now, and give them a big smile. "We're almost there! Hopefully our luck will hold and nothing will go wrong at the last minute," she assured them all for the thirtieth or fortieth time in the past three days.
Valak glanced at his happy-go-lucky companion, then rolled his eyes. "Now you've done it," he said. Over the course of the trip, he had opened up and relaxed a bit, maybe an effect of Mithera's upbeat attitude, maybe just because he was more familiar with them. He was still as terse and quiet as ever, but he begun to speak and express a little more.
Zen glanced at Mithera and sighed, shaking his head. "Now you've gone and jinxed it. A giant chicken monster is going to attack just before we get to town," Joslyn elbowed him and grinned, twirling her way around the group a little and stopping next to their guide and leader.
"Don't mind my guild mate, he's always a bit of a pessimist. I bet everything will be fine," she assured her.
Mithera giggled softly at everyone, her smile remaining. "If I were going to jinx it, that happened about ten minutes into our train ride. But, a giant chicken monster sounds super tasty, so I'm not sure running into one of those would be a bad thing. 'Specially since you guys could handle something like that, easy peazy," she looked over at Joslyn beside her, clearly having a good time traveling with everyone. Though her smile weakened a bit, as while she was sure they could handle a giant chicken monster, she wasn't sure they could handle Iron Enigma if they caught up. They might not be the strongest dark guild, but their top members were still something to be reckoned with. If the stories were to be believed, that was. There was also the worry of what people would think about Melina, her being a blood mage and all. Mithera scrunched her nose as they kept getting closer to the town, Melina didn't seem to be there so far. Maybe the lack of use of their link shortened its range...?
It wasn't long until the group was upon the town, and Mithera's face turned more and more worried as they neared it. Valak, being ever vigilant, kept an eye out for anything unusual while she focused on finding Melina. He regarded every bush, tree, shadow, and building as a possible cover for any enemies. He also made a habit of checking behind them for anyone following. His paranoia was at a level beyond what most would be able to handle without going mad, but he had practiced it so much it was almost second nature to him. Once they started passing the outlying houses, Mithera's face grew even more worried. She sped up some, walking quickly to the first street vendor. "Hello would yo-" As the vendor began trying to peddle his wares to the group, Mithera waved him off. Valak rested his hand on his sword as a quiet threat to the merchant, if he happened to glance his way.
"Look, I need to know if you've seen someone with blonde hair, light skin, a Fiorian accent like mine, and a kind of... Weird tattoo on their shoulder pass through here today," she was dead serious, and if she was any more sure of herself she would be holding the vendor by the shirt. The vendor gave her a very odd look before pointing down the road.
"Yeah, there was this tall guy came through here with an odd group. I believe one was wearing some kind of... Sun robe, another was a bit shorter than he was and looked like the leader, there was also another woman who fits that description. She had these odd tattoos all over her. The fourth guy looked kinda normal though. They went off that way," the vendor explained to them.
"Shit!" Mithera cursed, before quickly starting off in the direction the Vendor had pointed. Valak frowned slightly at her recklessness, but made sure to keep up with her pace. He hadn't been able to entirely keep up with the conversation, but he figured that it wasn't the time to ask. Zen and Joslyn followed after only a moment of being caught off guard. Zen began creating a few of his wind torpedoes, which hung in the air like hummingbirds, just in case.
"Hey Mithera, maybe we should call Phoenix Wing for some back up. Cause it sounds like Iron Enigma's group is larger than ours," Zen would suggest. Mithera would look back at Zen, and take a deep breath before nodding.
"Y-yeah, it sounds like they've got all their S-Class mages with them," she reached into her pants pocket and pulled out the Lacrima as she kept walking. "Hey, Master Jamie? Jarvis? Iron Enigma got here before us somehow... Th-they've got, uhm, Luna, Grant, Delilah, Gregory, and Mark that I know of. We may need assistance if we can't get out of this without conflict," her voice was anything but in control, cracking midway through what she was saying. "That would, uhm, b-be soon by the way. I f-figure we're hot on M-melina's heels at this point," she looked up, trying to estimate how far the other edge of town was. She cursed herself for not getting how long ago the merchant had seen Iron Enigma.
Jarvis quickly answered Mithera. "Did you not take any teleportation lacrima? I can change the communication lacrima to a teleportation one, but that will mean you will lose contact with us," he said. Mithera shook her head, though she knew that Jarvis couldn't see her through the lacrima, and she glanced over at the people that had come with before answering.
"N-nope on the teleportation lacrima, but I have an extra lacrima for communicating with Dragon Fang. If you send some people to help I'm sure one of them can bring a lacrima I can use for communication anyway. Uhm, I believe Gregory is here too, so, uh... Do we even have anyone we're sure can take him? Other than Master Jamie of course," Mithera was more nervous than a dog in a bear-bating pit, and in her distraction she tripped on a rock in the dirt. She yelped in pain as she hit the ground, and the communication lacrima skittered off a few feet on the road. Blood rushed to her face as she quickly stood up and snatched up the lacrima, brushing herself and the magic stone off. Biting her lip, she looked up and tried to make out anything down the road, but the hills hid everything far off from view. After taking a few more steps she stopped again, and spoke softly into the lacrima. "U-uhm, yeah, s-soon would be good."
"Alright. I'll see who I can round up. We probably have a few who could withstand Gregory," he said, "Hold out and they'll be there soon."
"Okay, I'll wait for them then... Or, well, as much as I can wait," she'd take a deep breath before stuffing the lacrima back in her bra as she kept walking. "Uhm, guys, so, for those of you who know their strengths, anyone want to call a particular opponent? I'd, uhm, suggest not Grant or Gregory however."
Valak had been listening to the brief conversation, and frowned at the mention of more backup. The had enough people here already. Wizards, in general, tended to be a headstrong bunch, and more would only make teamwork more difficult. He wondered just how dangerous could these people be that they would require so many wizards? A viscous grin tugged at the corner of his mouth.
He couldn't wait to find out.
Valak finally turned to Mithera to answer her question. Bloodthirst echoed in his contained smile. "All of them," he said.
Mithera would blink, looking at Valak with and his odd expression. "You, uhm, know that they're more p-powerful than any of the ones that were at the hotel right? Well, other than Delilah," she'd say quietly, before glancing up the road. A few figures would be in sight now. A man of average height and brown hair, a short figure in a white robe, and two blonde-haired figures walking just ahead of them. One much larger than the other. The third blonde was nowhere to be seen.
Zen and Joslyn looked at each other than at Mithera. "We'll stick with you, keep anyone who comes after you from getting close."
The backup Jarvis had promised, consisting of Jane and Demian, then arrived via teleportation lacrima. Damian was already holding his Ares Blades. Jane's right hand held the ignited hilt of her energy blade, and her left held several energy throwing stars. Damian walked up and gave Mithera a quick hug, a smile on his face while Jane watched the cloaked people in front of them. "Glad to see you again, Mithera. Doing well enough I hope?"
Mithera smiled, and barely hesitated to hug Damian back when he appeared. She smiled at him and nodded, glad to have him there. "Yeah, I'm good for now. Though, uh, as you might be able to see we have a bit of a problem. I have no idea how Iron Enigma got here before us, and, uh, I think we should stop them before they catch up with Melina," it felt kind of lame putting it like that, but that was the situation, plain and simple. "So, uh, I'll go with you, Damian, I guess. Or should I try to go around and catch up with Melina?" She looked at Damian, deferring to his seniority in the guild.
After this exchange, Damian looked at Jane and followed her gaze up to the cloaked members of Iron Enigma. He narrowed his eyes. "Guess that explains why they skipped out on the last day of the Games, but I couldn't tell you how they beat you here. As for where you can go, circle around, warn Melina and get her out of here. Once you're safe, contact us and we'll come to you."
Valak, who had been silently studying the newcomers, spoke up. "Introductions?"
"Jane Addeson and that's Damian Gerard, Phoenix Wing S-Class. You are?" Jane spoke up for both her and Damian, facing Valak for only as long as she spoke.
Zen and Joslyn stepped up next to Mithera. "We'll go with Mithera, keep her safe," Joslyn said. Damian nodded and looked ahead.
"Guess all that's left to do is get their attention. Mithera, Zen, and Joslyn, get out of sight so they don't try and cut you off when you go to get around them."
Mithera has just been watching while everyone figured out what the plan was around her. She was honestly glad she didn't need to keep trying to figure this out herself, and nodded once it was clear to her what was going down. "Okay," She turned towards everyone that wasn't sneaking off with her. "Try not to get hurt for my sake, if you start losing your fight, please pull back," she offered one last worried smile before heading off the edge of the road to the right and keeping her head down, Zen and Joslyn following. This whole time, someone from the Iron Enigma group had spotted them, and was now watching.
Damian glanced at Jane, who nodded and then at Valak. "Suppose proper introductions can wait for another time," Valak nodded. The enemy was at hand, this was no time for chit-chat. However, a thought held him back from just charging forward. They had obviously been seen, and if Iron Enigma's target was Mithera, it would be a simple matter for one of them to slip away, circle back and catch Mithera. She had those two mages with her, but Valak has no idea of haw strong or reliable they were. After a moment of thinking it over, Valak moved to follow Mithera and her companions. He knew that it was probably the less logical choice, as it would leave them outnumbered, but he felt an irrational urge to protect Mithera.
Well, he knew why. He just refused to think about it. Too much pain, and sorrow there.
There was still the matter of what to do. Something to avoid dwelling on what has past.
"Always assume the enemy is stronger and more clever then you, that way, you will never be surpised."
Valak pushed that voice out of his mind too. He didn't want to think about that psychopath either. But still. The advice was sound.
Damian turned his attention to Iron Enigma and noted that one of them was already watching. He was glad, as that just made this easier. Slashing horizontally, Damian sent a flurry of Piercing Blades flying at the group in front of them as Jane unleashed wave after wave of energy shuriken towards them. "Turn around, you Games drop outs!"
Mithera shot the group one last glance before disappearing into the forested foothills, muttering under her breath. "Good luck guys."
The Iron Enigma member watching the group had only just enough time to warn the party about the attacks coming their way. As the first set of attacks neared them, a large ice wall formed between them and the group. Most of the attacks sink a short way into the ice before stopping. Behind the wall, the Iron Enigma guild members moves out to the sides, into the woods, and the wall fell once they were all clear. The Iron Enigma members all were watching the Phoenix Wingers now, except for Mark, who would've disappeared with his Ice wall. It wouldn't be hard to guess where he was probably going, however, as at least one of the group had seen the others sneak off into the forest.
Valak, having quickly made up his mind as to what to do, brought his sword up. It sat front of his face in a fencer's salute before raising it to the sky, his magic power gathering to cast a spell. He reached out to a familiar spirit, calling him from the unknown. Guided by instinct rather than reason, he gave the magic that lent it form and guided the soul to the vessel. The temperature around him dropped, frost formed on his clothes and the grass, while ice took shape around his sword. Wind swirled around him in a weak cyclone, and when the spell was ready, Valak chanted,
"Come forth, Blizzard God Karl!"
There was a rush of power, and suddenly, there was a presence before him. No sound, flash of light, or burst of smoke; one moment there was nothing, the next he was there. He looked young, and was of average height. He wielded a halberd which currently rested casually on his shoulder. There was a faint apparition behind him, but its presence faded quickly. "Its about time," he said with a smile. "What do you need?" Valak pointed toward the Iron Enigma wizards.
"Fight them. Don't kill. Those two are allies," Valak said to Karl, who look at him sideways.
You haven't changed a bit, I see. Laconic as ever," Valak shrugged, and Karl sighed. "Alright, but you owe me a full explanation, after this." With that, he charged into battle, his steps freezing where they touched, and an aura of cold gathered around him.
Valak spared Karl a last glance, before he turned and ran after Mithera and the two Dragon Fang wizards.
Damian flourished his blades as he began to rush forwards, the twin Ares Blades in his hands catching the sunlight of the morning. He had picked his opponent when the Iron Engima mages had turned around; the one who was also likely the most sensible. He lept into the air, coming down in a wicked spin towards Luna, clashing against whatever defense she came up with before pivoting on his left heel and swapping to his Hercules Blades, bringing the twin greatswords to bear against the mage. "You ever consider that Melina didn't want to come back?" He cut straight to the point.
Phoenix Wing Guild Hall
January 14th, X893
Mithera had been spending the weeks since she had returned from catching up with Melina exploring and experiencing all Magnolia had to offer. Restaurants, sights, people, street shows, anything interesting. Well, anything interesting that you didn't need to be a certain age to participate in. No one would take her on her word either, as the century old sorceress only looked twenty years old, if that. Though she had at one point tried to go fix the problem of identification at one of the local governmental offices, but it turned out that there were all these forms Mithera had to fill out. At the time she had pretended to know what they were, and ended up 'taking them home to finish them.' That was a week ago now, and had been keeping them in the room she was renting from Phoenix Wing. She didn't feel like it was fair to ask someone to help her with them, but at the same time she was incapable of deciphering the papers herself.
The previous night Mithera had spent her time interacting with the night owls of Phoenix Wing and the city. Street performers had been her personal favorite, and she had wandered back into the guild hall just before dawn planning to stick out the next day to hang with everyone. She was now asleep with her head on her arms at one of the many tables that populated Phoenix Wing's main hall. She snored in this very soft, cute way as her body shifted up and down with each of her breaths. Wrapped around her was a dress that mimicked a white and pink flower that opened downwards towards her feet. Though dress wasn't an accurate description, as Mithera had realized her magic allowed her to make any modification to any of her forms she wanted, and started 'wearing' clothes that were actually still a part of her body. It had saved her a good deal of money she didn't have, she could mimic most natural materials anyway, and, most importantly to her, she could wear something completely different every day.
Mithera stirred slightly as Mayt opened the door harshly. Her shockingly blue eyes opened just a sliver before closing again to take her back into sleep. Mayt, however, winced as the banged on its frame, and looked at it like he hadn't actually meant to do that. Meekly, he offered an apologetic look to any of the guild members he had caught the attention of with his entrance, and began to proceed over to the bar. He was finally back from yet another job he had gone out on alone, and was sporting a new scar on his cheek for his efforts. On his hip sat a new blade he had bought since the end of the games, as the sword his parents had given him was lost, and he walked like everything was going his way today. The job had, in fact, gone mostly swimmingly and padded his wallet nicely.
The scar on his cheek was yet another of an ever growing list of such injuries, and each time the story was a little more gutsy and dangerous. This time, while out on his job, Mayt had heard of a couple of dark wizards who were causing a few problems for a town he was near. He had hunted them down to their lair, and fought them on what might be called equal terms. In the end he had barely managed to beat them, and he actually had a few other scars from that fight, but they were under his clothes. He had left the two of them at a police station, bruised and unconscious, before heading back to the job.
"Hey Jarvis, could I get a glass of water? I'm parched," Mayt said, a slight smile on his face. "Also, how have things been going while I've been gone?"
Sasha
Sasha smiled as Ariel came over, giving her a hug, she let Ariel take the notebook, not particularly worried about it, not one really for keeping things from her guild mates. Her family. In it, Ariel would see information from recent disasters, as well as detailed notes on where she had been, what she had found, and finally one last entry on Tenuru island, a hastily drawn map showing where she had sketched it. She smiled, almost secretively ”Well, I’m glad I look different. Its been an interesting two months” She said, shifting slightly, she laid her hands in her lap, ”As for what that is, its my notebook on everything….related to whats coming”. She smiled at Amaya, ”Well. Nothing is off with me, not really. But thank you for your concern.” She chuckled at Joshua, and smiled, happily, ”Well, you are probably right about that. I wanted to get back as quickly as I could” She said, cheerful.
Sasha was, beyond anything, happy to be home. It had been a long few weeks, and she’d been doing a lot, with a lot of knowledge weighing heavily on her shoulders, but back home...she knew everything would be alright.
Catching Mayt’s conversation with Jarvis, Sasha tilted her head a moment, listening, before she said softly, her expression a little daunted at Mayt’s appearance, the new scars, and worried for her friend, perhaps the first person that had actually shown some interest in her, ”I actually have a lot to go over, but I was letting everyone just gather naturally” She said, glancing about, seeing that a majority of people were around, she sighed, ”And I was hoping the other guild masters would join us, even via lacrima, yet it doesn’t seem like it…”
Micheal
Michael frowned as he faced Balthazar, out the back of Dragon’s fang’s guild hall, the sword in his hand unfamiliar, heavy as he faced off against the demon spirit, who would give him no mercy, he knew. Over the last few months, Michael had been trying to increase his own fighting, to become both stronger, and able to protect his spirits if he needed to, so he wouldn’t be a burden to them, nor his guild mates.
But he just couldn’t seem to get the hang of holding the sword and he clumsily moved towards Balthazar, his unsteady strike knocked aside easily, he sighed as his sword went clattering to the ground.
”You are not holding it right, Michael” The spirit said, and Micheal glared at him, looking up from retrieving the sword, in his left hand. His right was in cased in plaster, the result of an injury when on a job. ”Gee” He said softly towards the spirit as he shifted the sword in his grip, ”I wonder why” He sighed, and tried to shift the sword so that he could curl his all but useless right hand around the pommel, holding his left on top of his right.
Sammy
"Nothing. Mama told me to find you" Samantha said brightly, hugging Amelia when the older girl shifted too her level, holding on tightly, "Are you okay?" she asked Amelia, with some concern.
