As for everyone else: I'm writing up a post now. Will timeskip to the next day once it arrives, so be ready.
Also, once again: If anyone here has ideas, do let me know. I want the players to be split into groups of 2 to 4 per mission, so I'm gonna need a lot of input from you guys and what you'd like to see.
We could have something involving tsukumogami, at least a few light hearted ones. I'm especially looking forward to see quirky spirits like karakasa show up. Double that of we can get the umbrella as a reward for taking care of it.
Just reading through the IC and i'll write my CSS as soon as I finish reading it.
One question about "races": Any restriction (outside obvious one like dragons, etc. etc. )? Mainly Japanese mythology or creatures from other sources are allowed as well?
So its kinda implied that most of the "creatures" we will find on the Mirror City are somewhat... hostile, right? is there any way for a creature be living nearby the temple (maybe on the mountains nearby) and by luck heard all the commotion going on?
Oh, and one more question: creatures from the mirror city suffer some type of "drawback" or anything if they ever cross the portal and go to the human world?
I ask this only due to the fact that a Byakko isn't that... easy to hide, y'know? I was planning on my character to be able to shapeshift but only to a certain extent, for example: while in his "normal" form, he resembles a human, but with his arms covered in white fur, legs resembling a tiger (bone structure, feet and fur), claws and a tail. He could turn completely into a byakko, getting stronger and faster, but completely giving in to his natural instincts.
I wanted to try this mainly because its different from a kitsune or an okami (and we have either of them here, so I wanted to make something different), since its something more... feral. No mystical or martial arts, no tricks, only his instincts and body (and its drawbacks).
OR I could do something like Atsushi from bungou stray dogs.
AAAnd after reflecting a little about the Gyokuto, what I was planning would be somewhat far from the actual thing (it would look more like a Viera from the final fantasy series.)
If you like I can help you getting into the story, sven could possibly know your character prior as a customer of his wurst shop or something and ask him to come with him to the mission thingy
@13org: Nope, everything was contained and the sound was, like, 95% muffled (thus how I had Kuro's char listen in on the incident but only at point blank).
That's debatable. Everything will be circumstantial, situational, and based on GM fiat. :)
And.... Uh... The PCs should all be able to blend in with normal human society. Neither char would fit in well if what you're declaring remains true. =3=;;
@PKMNB0Y Got it! Already have something planned that will fit perfectly. Then other physical traits which can be easily hidden by clothes and/or accessories are ok, right?
@PKMNB0Y Do the mission ideas have to be related to the city of mirrors? I was thinking of a mission that revolves around a kappa stealing pickles and other miscellaneous stuff from people living near the river.
@blumenk: I mean... If they appear as requests within the shrine, they should be a lot more substantiated and not trivialize the entire process (because for all most people should know it's not something supernatural stealing stuff). Informal requests should be fine, but also shouldn't necessarily be on the list itself. 's all.
I just mentioned somewhere in the post that he introduced himself. Didn't know how to put it in post 'cause I don't know how to further respond sooooo yeeaahhh
Just so everyone can see it. Will make my first post shortly (once I think in a good plan to get where you guys are )
Sho Nakano
Age: 19
Race: Gyokuto
Abilities:
Enhanced speed and agility - Unnaturally flexible and agile body, the ability to jump much higher and faster than a normal human, coupled with his experience on parkour made Sho an extremely hard person to catch and find.
Poisons and Medicines - His nature as a Gyokuto gives him great knowledge about natural herbs, remedies and poisons.
Instinctive Fighting Style - His experience with Parkour and acrobatics gave him a unique fighting style, based on using his agility, speed and his surroundings to his favor. Its much more an instinctive thing than an actual martial art.
Poisonous Touch - Able to inject both poisons and medicines on others by direct touch (Both his skin or weapons. Need to actually pierce the skin to do it successfully.)
Equipment:
Regular rope dart. Made of a very strong rope and metal, he uses it both as a weapon, to wound or grapple, and to move it around by using it as a grappling hook
A single yellow knuckleduster/dagger he uses both as a weapon and as something to help him to climb walls & etc.
Personality: Sho is a happy, playful guy with a terribly bad case of being unable to sit still for too long when awake. He is almost never quiet, be it walking around, running, climbing somewhere high. Ironically enough, he loves to sleep and relax (usually in ridiculous places, such as rooftops, or in other stupid places where others cant reach by just walking normally.) Its easy to know what Sho is doing at any given time: or he is sleeping, hanging around with friends or not being capable of sitting still for even 5 minutes. Sho is an unexpectedly kind guy, and will often go out of his way to help someone in need. He has a deep sense of honor and what is right and wrong. He refuses to do anything that could cause harm to other people. Due to his connection with the wilderness as a Gyokuto, he feels deeply in peace and relaxed while on a mountain or forest.
History: Born in a long lineage of herbal healers, his family was always connected with the nature, living near mountains and even making medicines to earn their life. Sho grew accustomed to differentiate poisonous herbs from medicinal ones, brewing both poisons and medicines, making teas and everything concerning herbs. Even for his family though, he was always unusually good with those things, almost like he was born knowing every medicine and poison existent. He hated being trapped the entire day doing remedies, so he often passed most of his time on the streets, be using his unusually agile body to jump around or meeting with other people, making friends, fighting, helping other people who he saw that needed him, or getting problems with the local authorities due to him "jumping around" or "disturbing the peace". Thanks to the fact that he always helped everyone and that he never did anything out of malice, he has never gotten in bigger problems with the law.
When Sho discovered the Parkour, when he was walking around the city one day, everything changed. He knew that it was perfect for him, both physically and mentally. The sensation of being free, the speed, jumping around and feeling the wind on his skin was almost like flying. Dedicating a good portion of his time in training Parkour, he quickly mastered it, thanks to his unique physical. Being able to spend his energy made him able to control his hyperactivity, giving him more time to relax and continue doing that what his family was always his family's job: making herbal medicines and poisons. Not only that, but being able to concentrate himself on doing those things, he was able to dedicate himself even more. Starting to use both a dagger and a rope dart to get in even higher and difficult places, to satiate his need for adrenalin.
It was on one of those days which he met Sven. As he tried to jump over a gap between two close buildings, he failed to grab the other ledge, falling just in front of Sven's butchery, who immediately helped him, even not knowing who he was. After that, Sho felt that he needed to repay Sven's kindness in some way, that was when Sven proposed for Sho to help him with the butchery, by making deliveries, using his herbal knowledge to help with meat seasoning and helping around the Shop.
