I mean, based on how your powers work, I think you might have just killed our characters? Well, Musashi should be able to see it coming, how wide is the beam? So yeah Meilin might have to step in XD

Also, I'm impressed Brock was able to focus enough to hold onto all that energy and do the attack.

Also also, would he be out when he face-planted, or do you have to be totally prone to count? If it's prone that's actually really clever as a delaying tactic.

@Azereiah @13org

Unaimed and unfocused, so around a meter wide at the receiving end at perhaps 300 degrees fahrenheit, like sticking your hand in an open oven. It was more of a case of "release now or I light the grass I'm lying on on fire and melt my hoodie onto my body", but keep in mind that this is a guy who took a baseball bat to the forehead as a younger teenager. He's sorta used to that sort of stress. :P

I assume he's technically out the instant he goes down, but he doesn't care at all

I'm trying to decide if that would still kill Musashi because children are more susceptible to extremes of heat and you only need a minute or two at 120 Fahrenheit to kill a child, but I'm thinking not?

Addendum: I'll tweak the CS to reflect that it's supposed to be a sustained/'boiling' type attack. Heated air doesn't really do much unless ypu stay in it long enough for convection to heat something to a harmful point after all.

Whoops. Keep on posting without refreshing.

Yeah, no, it wouldn't be fatal. Worst case scenario, he gets rather uncomfortable for a bit, then the heated air returns to a normal temperature. Source: have baked cookies with grandma as a kid before, didn't die

The only way Brock would kill Musashi is if he got back up and throttled him without Zeke or a teacher intervening.

I mean so have I in terms of the baking thing, which is why I was wondering exactly how it worked, because it kinda first seemed like it kind of just instantaneously heated people to that temperature or flash-burned them. Thanks for the clarification! @Azereiah

Yup, no problem. Editing CS to reflect that it's more of a "hot air" kind of thing. More details is always better, it seems.

Edit: Courtesy of Akiko's running sucker punch to the dome, he's now out cold and needs someone to drag him off the field or something.

@Azereiah

Question: it is basically very, very hot air, right?

Then I could stop it with a pressure wave, right?

Yup. Easily. I also request that you remove him from the field for medical attention
I was expecting him to get back up and start a real fight, but getting KO'd works too.

So, for someone who awakened their Channeling after returning from the dead, would you guys say Portal fits more than Paper?

Depends on culture I think. Paper is tied a lot to mysticism and religion in some places. If you're having trouble, though, then flip a coin. Heads is portal, tails is paper.

nvm, didn't read last post before sending this, but uh, how exactly did Meilin cross that distance with "an incredible burst of speed" when there's nothing around her abilities suggesting she has this? Sure she's a martial artist but what little description is given to that is centered more around conservative motions and acrobatings aren't exactly a 100 meter dash. Maybe I'm getting the distances wrong, it's kind of an abstract field here, but if she was well off to the side with Daler this doesn't seem plausible going by the CS.

Nothing superhuman. Think about something a trained human could do.

I dont know the size of the field so...

Also, shockwaves can be used in a lot of ways. With a little creativity I can use them in some interesting ways.

Plus I was thinking about an rectangular field. Maybe 50 meters wide or something... Idk. Again, we don't have the exact size of the field.

The only other move I could use to stop the heat wave from a distance a potentially lethal AoE move. Soo...

Again, size of the field and distance are the issue because I don't know and you don't know, hence why I'm asking. I assumed the teachers are off to the side because so far the teachers were treated as being fairly far-removed, so Meilin making a dash in order to beat out the heatwave seems implausible even for a trained sprint.

As for the shockwaves, yeah that's really cool but if you mean using them for making the dash more plausible there's really nothing in her powers as given that even indicates she might able to do this. It's not really blocking the heatwave that's the issue, not sure if that's physically possible but within the genre it's plausible for her to do it with her powers as they are. It's more that I don't know if she could've plausibly made the dash at all.

I mean, no one's reacted to it yet so there's still time to edit with minimal hassle if it comes down to it. It's not like I'm trying to take away your character doing cool things but this was kinda like, there's already 3 characters actively involved with the situation at closer ranges that you're magically out-reacting here. Four if we count Terri. And the whole setup was kinda meant for the newcomers to do their thing in the first place...

His attack is consisted of hot air. Very hot air.

Shockwaves/pressurized air can block it. I asked the Azereiah about that.

The teachers are not "fairly far-removed" since all of them are paying close attention to the test. Some going as far as taking notes.

Again, I don't know the size of the field, so I assumed it wasn't an ridiculously big field and that making that dash was possible.

Do you want me to erase the post?

I won't interfere on the test anymore.

No yeah the blocking's really cool, I did say that. Just pointed out I don't actually know whether that's legitimately possible but as a shonen fite thing? Cool shit, I dig it and I'd argue in favor of it, that's awesome. Please don't think that's an issue because it really, really wasn't. Again, the blocking of the heat blast itself is really cool and not at all a problem for me.

The problem was I'm not aware of the size of the field so, because of the way things have gone, I assume the distance is large enough that getting there in time to stop the heatbeam from a dead start was implausible without some kind of power aid. So I asked about it. I said the teachers felt far removed because they more or less have been, they're standing off to the side watching and taking notes and generally not involved in the thing. It was kinda the point of the setup, to have the elders act like elders and watch the children play.

I'd wait on GM judgement for it but, you know, I still stand by my view that your character outpacing the three people actively aware and standing closer to Heatman is kinda rushed. Your character can totally do her thing in like one more set of posts, you know? That's enough time for all the other characters to react. It's a fairly simple structure too:

Brock is clearly the type to not listen to rules, especially when frustrated. Your character can start making her way over thinking of helping the students targeted by the heatwave. The students deal as they can (and yes, this does involve my character doing things) and by then Brock is up and looking for trouble. Before anything can go down, bam! Your character does her cool things and acts like a teacher and then Ezekiel can sleep at night because holy shit a teacher acting like one! Here! It happened!

Already erased my post. You don't need to keep worrying about it anymore.

Also, by the way you are saying, Brock's heat wave should be instantaneous.

Since someone who was paying close attention at their moves couldn't get there, it would be also impossible for the characters who are there to react.

Anyways, I liked the post I made, but I'm getting really frustrated with all this discussion, so I'll just be a side character and do nothing at all for more than 20 posts :-)

Oh, and all the teachers are observing the students, taking detailed notes & etc from over 100m. That's totally something a human being could do.
