I outright said I don't know the distances, and that that's the problem. I like your post and I think it's perfectly doable, just split in two. One interacting with Daler and taking notice that Brock is up to no good and dashing in hoping the kids can handle themselves, and then another after the kids have handled themselves and you can come in and be teacherly to the one kid trying to set his playmates on fire.
I never, however, said Brock's heat wave is or should be instantaneous. At all. I said that there's three characters standing at closer ranges and actively involved with/being targeted by him. You know who was paying close attention to Brock's moves other than Meilin? The one kid with magical eye powers that's getting a boost and just pelted him with shuriken and the trained martial artist with an ability that's all about measuring up opponents, distance and attacks to a minute level. The same people who are closer to him than Meilin. Do you see how these people would likely have to react first over someone dashing in from the side?
You're talking about your character doing nothing but my character is directly involved with the test, he's in there and he's literally done nothing but be confused by this whole deal in every single post. I'm having fun with that, apparently people like that too I guess. You've a teacher character, many other people do and those characters are doing their teacher thing. You're setting up character interactions and relations, kind of meant to be a big part of this, that's hardly nothing.
Finally, you're taking the 100 meter remark literally when it was just me saying that acrobatics =/= dash speed. And yes, actually, coaches do analyze and take notes of how their players do across the field and direct from there. They take those notes and along with whatever observations they make in more close-up and personal training determine what each kid needs to work on. For max fine-tuning there's also getting footage from actual games but that's neither here nor there.
