@Avemelle I figured Makoto would have been really practiced in just the three animals-- like how a novice piano player might be really good at playing Hot Cross Buns, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and [insert some other easy piano song here-- idk]. But I can make his bird transformation a bit less great. Like he's really clumsy at flying and can't maintain it very well/for very long. (Getting stuck in trees hijinks ensues) Could even get rid of it completely if you'd prefer.

Background
It's not to say Arden's father was a bad man, just really bad at making the right choices. He was weak of will and fell to many many vices, easy prey for Arden's half demonic mother. It was after all in her nature and her blood to feed off of others suffering. With his last bit of sense Arden's father took baby Arden short after his birth and fled.

So Arden grew up with his father until his fathers lifestyle of drinking, smoking, drugs and gambling caught up with him.

The two lived together out in the countryside in a state of squalor until Arden was old enough to start fending for himself and contributing. He fastly became independent and soon supported his father who equally as fast became crippled by illness and grew worse and worse day by day.

After his fathers passing young Arden made his way to the nearest town where he lived on the streets until he found a mysterious letter that would change his life forever.

Magic
Arden's Magic is rare and risky to wield. He can reach beneath the fabric of existence to a pure raw and wild chaotic force. To some it is known as creation energy, others chaos magic. Mishandling it can result with some unfathomable, unpredictable harsh consequences. Not only does the mind need to be sharp to direct such a raw untameable force, but the body must be strong too. Acting as a conduit for this wild magic takes a physical toll, always.

Arden who has grown up in poverty has managed to get this far with very little and will continue to do so.

The great and wonderful Akari Magus! Is that my real name? Heavens no! But I liked the sound of it when I first came to this place, and darling, I'm sticking with it until I move on. Maybe I'll give you my true name if I like you enough. My assistant Kagami knows, but she knows almost everything about everyone- town gossip that she is. It's why I hired her!

When there are enough students at the school, I like to work as a part-time Instructor in Defense Against Evil at Hishiro. Always nice to help the next generation come to their senses where sorcery and blood magic is concerned. Ever since the school closed up, I've been a full time caretaker at the Hishiro Magical Daycare Center. You'd be shocked how many dryads need someone to look after their little ones come summertime!

:Background:
If you're asking for the whole thing, I'm afraid that's quite impossible. My watch says I've got 6 minutes until the little ones wake up and I'll have to get the bottles ready. Also, I don't lay it all out on the first date. I'm old, not easy. But I can give you the time since the school last opened.

I came to Hishiro at the tail end of the magical conflict, when everyone was settling down and the big girls and boys were drawing up the peace. I came for the lovely kimonos, and stayed for the even lovelier children. A lot of young wizards and witches were left without family in the wake of the conflict, and while there aren't many of my kind walking the world, we do our part as best we can. So I called in some favors, made some concessions, and opened up my little daycare right next to the cutest little bookshop in the town. It wasn't an easy job raising orphans with the ability to defy the laws of nature, but I did my best and enjoyed the fruits of my labor as best I could.

Most of them thought I was some kind of arch-mage. A few caught on that I was not entirely human. But telling the truth invites more questions than I'm comfortable answering. Nowadays, I do the babysitting gig for the love of it rather than necessity. But now that I got this invitation to the school that's opening up as a part-time instructor, I can't wait to see what the newest generation is up to! And maybe run into some familiar faces all over again...

:Magic:
Oh, well, magic. You'd guess from my race that I'm some sort of all powerful being who can command life and death in both hands, wave the laws of reality, and save the day single-handedly. Well... no. I'm mostly just good at being inconspicuous and the creation of Heavenly Wards in a pinch. I can make two of them if need be. The first is the Ward of Sight which came in handy during the magical war. If someone looks at a building marked with the ward and doesn't have magical ability themselves, then their eye keeps moving and they go on their way. They see the building, but they don't SEE the building, if you catch my drift.

The second ward I make is the Repel Evil ward. Sometimes people summon nasty things to do their dirty work, and sometimes they have evil on their minds themselves. This one generally repels anyone with wicked intent from approaching a location. How does it feel? Spray yourself in the face with some mace, then describe it to me. What? Yes, use the whole bottle! You have to get the full effect.

:Magical Equipment:
Usually I go everywhere with two things- a wand-sized paint brush for drawing my runes. And a Gucci diaper bag from my main job at the daycare- always have everything you need to do your job, but most importantly, look good doing it!

Background:
Many decades ago, near the smouldering end of the war between magical critters and those who were not magically gifted, a female human and male demon reconciled a little earlier than the rest, and started building up their lives together. Eventually a child was born: a demi-demon. Now, a couple of generations down the line, the demon-genes are still passed on, albeit to a (much) weaker extend. The newest addition to this lineage is Shiori, whose demonic traces only manifest themselves in the form of slightly pointier teeth and ears, as well as the supernatural ability to manipulate unconsciousness.

Despite her somewhat uncommon ancestry, she has lead quite the normal life so far. She was a bit of an outcast in primary school, but this was not due to her looks nor due to her giftedness; in fact she had not even realized her powers at this age. She was, and still is, simply always a bit caught in her own little bubble, wondering about the nature of things, or marveling over the minds of scientists.

Most would call her dreamy, but a more fitting word would be analytical: Shiori likes examining and dissecting situations, both social and scientific, but is more apt in the latter. She finds great pleasure in trying to solve puzzles, reading, listening to music: just about anything that stirs her imagination. She has a good spatial aptitude, and has found herself to be good at putting herself in someone else’s shoes. Even though one could say she is emphatic, most people find it hard to approach her because of her aloofness. Her absent-mindedness has also lead her to be clumsy at times.

Shiori may have the logic dexterity of a scholar, deep inside the girl is still a child. She loves collecting cute things and expresses this through keeping dainty stationery, small keychains, and sticking stickers whenever she finds the opportunity. Although she is usually eloquent, she likes squeezing in cute slang in her sentences every now and then.

Shiori’s parents had not gone unnoticed of their daughter’s abilities, both her cognitive and mystic skills. It was hard not to find out as they occasionally ended up being subject to her powers, albeit by accident. They have urged her to continue developing them by following more education in the fields Shiori is specialized in.

Almost as if by destiny she received a letter that she had been selected for a magic academy not much later. Knowing she had the support of her parents, she accepted the invitation. Shiori still has some doubts about her decision, but is looking forward to set foot on new terrain nonetheless.

Magic:
Dreams (and Sleep) - Shiori has the talent of controlling and manipulating dreams. Because her imaginative power is well developed, she is capable of creating surreal dream worlds that appear incredibly lifelike, as if the person experiencing the dream were awake. She does however not yet have full control over her powers, and needs to be unconscious herself to shape the dreams of her subject. If she manages to change the dream to a nightmare, her demonic nature will slowly start to kick in, and Shiori may lose control.

A master in this field has the potential of materializing themselves in dreams: actually being present in the other’s dreams and experience them. Besides dream control, they would also be able to have an influence on sleep: make their target fall asleep or feel fatigued.
