@Avemelle Quick question: What Races do you think you'd find acceptable in this RP? I'm wavering between starting a new character or bringing back an old character I made for a similar RP once upon a time.
I love this idea! It's very nice and simple :)
I hope to have a character up today or tomorrow.
One question: what races are allowed in this RP?
Just humans, wizards, and witches? Or are other (common) races also permitted?

Makoto lived alone with his mother in an almost equally quaint little town far away from Hishiro. The youngest of three brothers who had long since moved away to find success, Makoto worked hard to ensure his mother, who was getting on in years, was always happy and comfortable. His father passed away before he was born and his mother worked hard to support Makoto and his brothers throughout her younger years.
In spite of the unfathomable amount of love he has for his mother, one would never guess Makoto had a loving bone in his body. He is cold and distant. Between school, work, and chores, Makoto made little time in his schedule for friends. When Ms. Tohru's letter came, Makoto was on the brink of tossing it into the trash before his mother excitedly plucked it from his hands. Admittedly, Makoto had been struggling to keep up with his schoolwork. Money was tight and his mother was too frail to work. Things such as homework and studying often took the back seat in his efforts to keep everything afloat.
His mother insisted he go. having always loved Makoto's shapeshifting. He was her only child to inherit his father's magical qualities. She felt he should improve his talents and not squander such a grand opportunity. Makoto was stubborn as ever, but could not hold his ground against the desperate urgency in her voice. Reluctantly he agreed on the condition that he be allowed to send her money once he found himself a new part time job in Hishiro. The next morning, bags in hand, Makoto hugged his mother goodbye and stepped through Ms. Tohru's portal.

Shapeshifting - While Makoto can transform into just about any animal with enough concentration, he is particularly talented at three. The first being a simple tabby cat with gold eyes and a coat comprised of light brown fur with sections of white around the paws, face, and tip of the tail. Makoto's second transformation is that of a brown and white border collie, though it is perhaps a touch larger in size than most collies tend to be. Finally, his third transformation is a small brown fox sparrow donning white feathers on his chest and belly and wings with a reddish hue. When shape shifted, Makoto is unable to fully understand or communicate with other animals. Makoto must also be wary not to remain in any given animal state for too long or else he tends to lose himself.
He once fell asleep as a cat one night and, upon waking up, immediately headed for the backyard to hunt mice. By the time he realized what was happening, he was extremely late for school and still struggling to come out of his previous mindset. One poor girl fell victim to his feline urges as he rudely reached across her desk and swatted her pencil out of her hand in the middle of a test. It was tremendously awkward for everyone involved and Makoto has since been quite adamant not to repeat his mistake.

Done:Chiya ⛨ Mame
Height: 167 cm. ⛨ Weight: 59 kg. ⛨ Age: 17 years. ⛨ Hair Color: Chestnut. ⛨ Eye Color: Hazel.
Name: Chiya Mame.
Age: 17 years.
Race: Human.
DOB: August 27th, 1999.
Zodiac: Virgo.
Occupation: Student. Also works part-time at an antique bookstore.
Background
Chiya's backstory isn't that complex, to say the truth. Her family never had a tradition of producing magic users of any sort. In fact, they were pretty much generic humans until the day when Chiya (still a young child, at that time) found some old books and notes stached on an old trunk, at their attic. It turned old that those were good her greatgranfather bought from a foreign sailor, while he was still alive and ran a pawn shop at the docks.
No one in Chiya's family could ever sell or make use of the notes. They were written mainly in Greek and Arabic and dealt with what looked like Mathematics and Astrology, after all. It turned out that one of the journals had translation notes to the key points of the notes, but given that t was written in English, Chiya was the first member of her family to ever be able to read it. Chiya learned what she could of the ancient manuscripts on classic Western esoterism, but as it turned out, she needed a bit of a push in her studies.
The invitation to a legitimate magic school came at a perfect time. There was no way Chiya could turn it down.
Magic
Chiya's magic is based on a far less supernatural, but no less wonderful, concept than most others. To put it simply, her magic gives her a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, especially those related to Geometry and Trigonometry. While it may seem bland at first sight, it's a knowledge that can be used in an endless number of different fields.
Magical Equipment
While the only tool required for Chiya's magic tends to be her brain, she usually carries a journal and a mechanical pencil, since it can prove hard for other people to understand what she's trying to say without drawing it.

Theme
Background
For generations, Nakana Maemi's ancestors spent their days farming rice paddies near their quaint country town as their primary source of income. However, since too much or too little rain would always have the possibility of ruining a year's worth of crop (and income), her family turned to realms of magic, specifically nature related magic. If ever a problem arose with their harvest, they would wave their staves and wands and speak a few words as the magic revitalized the fields. The use of magic had eventually increased the yearly harvest total for Maemi's family, and the extra rice grown would be sold to merchants or given away to the poor.
Eventually, a bright-eyed Maemi came along, and her parents began to teach their magic to her so that one day Maemi might take over the harvest. Beginning with weather-beaten patches of brown grass and withered flowers desperate for water, Maemi's understanding of the basics was relatively smooth, excluding the few hiccups that Maemi's parents sorted out. Later throughout her training on a warm yet fateful summer evening, Maemi took notice of a news report about droughts and the decrease of the world's food supply that flashed across the only television in her family's country house. Outraged that such a thing was happening, Maemi had sworn an oath to her parents that she would do something to combat the heat and bring back the beautiful and flourishing nature.
Almost coinciding with Maemi's oath, her invitation to the academy arrived. Knowing that such a prestigious invitation could possibly do wonders for both the farm and Maemi's goal, her parents helped her pack on the condition that she keeps in contact with them on a regular basis.
Magic
Maemi's magic is based around the concept of nature, similar to a druid's magic. While she doesn't have the power, for instance, to summon vicious thorned plants to assault her foes or anything else that requires a grand understanding in the realms of magic, Maemi can resurrect small sections of plant life as long as the plants are minuscule like grass and flowers. She can also change an apple's taste from sweet to sour, and vice versa.
Magical Equipment
Maemi carries around a short wand made of ancient pagoda wood in her hoodie's pockets. A small branch extends from the main shaft, presenting an ever-growing green leaf that is attached to the end of the branch.
I believe I touched everything. Let me know what you think.
Saito Tajima
Age: 16
Race: Human
DOB: October 23, 2000
Occupation: Student and book store clerk.
Background: Saito was orphaned when he was still an infant. He doesn't know who his parents are or why they put him up for adoption; he just knows the orphanage he grew up at. Saito was always a meek and quiet child, and as such, the other more boisterous children ran over him. When he wasn't being bullied, he was ignored, and so he turned to the small library that the orphanage had for solace. When his chores were done, he read. When the other children played, he read. And when it was time to go to sleep, he sneaked a book into his bed and read. When he finished all the books, he read them again. Saito didn't care what subject the books were on. Fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, history, he read them all, and he scored very highly on aptitude tests despite his lack of parental guidance and weak formal education.
When his powers manifested, he wasn't sure what to make of them. He knew that none of the other children had them, and all he had to go on was one history book that mentioned the magic war. At first, he did his best to keep his magic to himself, experimenting with it only when he was sure he was alone. When he received the letter, though, he was equal parts intrigued and terrified. If this was true, he would be given an opportunity to learn with people like him. On the other hand, he could just be walking into a whole new nest of people looking to walk all over him again. In the end, he decided he didn't have much to lose by giving it a try.
Magic: Metal magic. Saito is able to refine pure metals from surrounding ores. He can manipulate metals with his hands as if they were clay, and he has limited telekinetic control over metallic objects. He is not yet very confident in his abilities, as everything he knows about them was discovered without any help.
Magical Equipment: A vial of iron filings that he uses to quietly practice with.

I might be capable of that :D I haven't co-GMed in awhile though, so I'll need to brush up a little. Still, I'm more reliable as a co-GM than a GM! c:

@Avemelle
On another note; how many characters are we allowed?
<Snipped quote by Aquanthe>
Beautiful! Accepted ^^
Also-- I am assuming that al of your characters are beginner leveled? Or just somewhat started growing in their magical ability?
