In Depth Appearance;☇ Divine is a slender black woman, standing at five feet seven inches tall and weighing in at a little over one-hundred forty pounds. Her skin is beautifully brown. Her soft-curled, shoulder length hair is dense but yielding, and thick enough to lose your fingers in. Although having a head full of gorgeous hair, Divine prefers to wear her hair in protective styles (braids, weaves, wigs), which allow her hair to grow quicker and healthier. There's a certain elegance in the way that Divine holds herself: good posture, long confident strides and head held high. She often looks taller than her height of 5'7, especially since she's always wearing heels when she has the chance.
Her eyes are large and almond shaped, the brown of the irises so dark that they almost appear to be black. Her eyes are fringed with long, thick lashes. She has a short, delicate nose and perfectly arched, dark eyebrows. Her face is heart-shaped; she has high cheekbones and a pointed chin. Her lips are full and always covered with a clear lip gloss. When smiling, you can see that she has two rows of perfectly white teeth, a slight overbite present. Divine often times finds herself applying a full face of makeup before leaving her room, therefore enhancing her natural beauty. She has helix piercings, conch piercings, tragus piercings, and lobe piercings in both of her ears. She has a septum piercing, as well. Divine has a grand total of thirteen tattoos covering her arms, neck, left leg, and more in concealed areas. She plans on getting more, despite her grandmother's disapproval.
Clothing Style;☇ When it comes to her fashion sense, Divine always dresses to impress. Her wardrobe consists of affordable, yet stunning pantsuits, dresses, blouses, and a wide array of heels, boots, and sneakers. She likes to look her best everyday, and usually spends about an hour each morning making sure that there's nothing out of place. It's rare to see her in a state of disarray, as her mother raised her to believe that she should always look prepared and presentable, especially when she's the most frazzled. When it comes to jewelry, Divine likes to be a bit flashy. She'll always wear a large pair of hoop earrings, along with matching necklaces, bracelets, and rings. Every now and then, Divine will visit the thrift store to find clothes that she can "revamp."

Personality:☇ If you had to describe Shaun in one word, most people would choose terms along the lines of "intelligent", "free-spirited" or "witty". A textbook extrovert, Divine loves to chat with people (unless she's having a bad day, in which case she'll lean towards negativity and passive-aggression), make others laugh, and tends to be genuinely friendly. She does not shy away from talking to strangers. Divine is a seemingly calm and laid-back girl, yet is by no means a pushover. She can more than take care of herself, but is smart enough to know when to pick a fight and when to let something go. She is someone who isn't weighed down by the troubles of everyday life, is not restricted by other people's opinions, and is always herself regardless of the situation.
She is, more often than not, confident in herself and her actions, often to a fault. She is very opinionated, has trouble asking for help, and hates admitting when she's wrong. When things don't go as she planned or in a positive direction, she can get frustrated very easily. Divine also has a bit of a "potty mouth," and uses profanity even when she isn't trying to. She also has a lot of trouble controlling her temper, and whenever someone pushes her to her limit, she'll snap; it will often result in her yelling a large number of obscene words, throwing objects, and even going as far as to get physical. Despite all of her shortcomings, there's no denying that Divine is usually kind and dependable. If you ask her to meet you somewhere, she will be there; if she promises to do something, she will do it; if you ask her for help, she will do everything in her power to assist. Underneath the frustrated sighs and eye-rolls lies a person who's kind and caring at the core.

Background;☇ It was the Summer of ninety-five when Mateo Garcia first met the love of his life. He and the rest of his family were attending a Cruise Ship wedding, and the stunning woman occupied one of the seats at his table during the reception. From the moment he laid eyes on her, he knew that, one day, she was going to be his wife. One year later, and his prophecy came true. Deidra and Mateo Garcia were married for two years before they became pregnant with their soon-to-be daughter, Divine Belcalis Garcia-Hensley. Once their daughter was born, the couple worked their hardest to make sure that she had an enjoyable childhood. Divine grew up in a two-bedroom apartment in the "slums" of Brooklyn. Although her parents were always tight on funds, they always made sure that she was fed and clothed, and even forked up a little more money to get her into a prestigious private school. All was well with the small family until the day of Divine's eighth birthday.
Growing up, Divine didn't have many friends, the majority of the neighborhood kids teased and poked fun at her because of where she attended school, the color of her skin, and even the clothes she wore. As a result, the only attendee at little Divine's birthday party was her mother and two children from her school. The party was held in the backyard; her father had previously set up tables, decorations, and cooked hot dogs on the grill. He'd left to make one last trip to the grocery store before Divine's friends arrived, wanting to buy his baby girl a large, chocolate birthday cake. He never made it back home.
After the abrupt death of her daddy, Divine's mother, Deidra, slowly but surely started to spiral. She would go out to the bar or club after work, leaving Divine to her own devices at home, and would not return until early the next morning. She'd sneak men and women into the house when she thought that Divine was sleep, and shoo'ed them out of the house before dawn. After five months of being late and showing up hungover to work, Deidra lost her restaurant management job, and was forced to resort to selling household items in order to pay the bills. After a while, however, Deidra met her breaking point.
Nine year old Divine was packed up and sent away to live with her fairly wealthy grandmother, Mateo's mother, in Los Angeles while her mother worked to get her life back on track. She received letters and post cards from her mother every week for the first couple of months, but by the time she turned nine years old, they'd stopped coming. Her grandmother was a strict woman with a "no-nonsense" policy. Ever since Divine stepped foot into the large house, she was expected to be on her very best behavior. She had daily chores, despite there being maids and butlers to do the work for them. She was never allowed to slack on her work, and received private tutoring six days a week. Divine and her Grandmother rarely saw each other around the house, her grandmother preferring to stay in her room most of the time. It wasn't until Divine stumbled upon some old pictures that she and her grandmother actually started to bond.
The pictures she found were of her grandmother in her younger days. In one picture in particular, the woman could be seen in a ballet costume, dancing around a stage with a man. After finding Divine snooping around her picture stash, Mrs. Garcia told her all about when she was a well-known dancer with the Joffrey Ballet Company. It was in that moment, while listening to her grandmother's awing stories, that Divine decided that she wanted to become a dancer. By the time Divine was fourteen, she was one of the best dancers in her dance studio. While ballet was always her main focus, she also excelled in Jazz, tap, and hip-hop classes. Because of her hard work in both dance and academics, it came as no surprise when she earned a scholarship to Hollywood University.
