Clarification requested on teleportation restrictions: 'range of 20' what? Twenty feet? Twenty meters? Twenty parsecs? 'Teleport to another dimension' is vague as well - is this the act of relocating into another dimension and remaining there for an indefinite length of time, or will any teleportation whose mechanics include interdimensional or interplanar travel, even if the teleport is quick and does not remain in said dimension, constitute a loss?

A number of Luchalliance characters utilize variants of teleportation as a tactical tool; the restrictions are especially egregious to psionics. Would teleportation without intent to abuse interrupt rulings be more permissible? The players I know utilize teleportation the same way I do - as a tactical maneuvering tool, not as an auto-dodge defense-against-everything bullshit mechanic or a means of canceling any enemy strike they please.

Luchalliance profiles are in final revision and clean-up stage, with the exception of this teleportation question. Please clarify quickly, the restrictions as stated may require a character switch on the part of particular players.

Sorry about that. I'll get to fixing that problem right now. Also any relocation that removes a player from the field of battle will count as a ringout.

Also for everyone, including DDL:

PLEASE PROVIDE ADEQUATE INFORMATION FOR YOUR AVAILABILITY!

I noticed I'm getting some stories instead of times, days, and timezones. I understand some of you have weird or fucked up jobs but seriously I am sure it doesn't change your timezone.. I hope not anyhow.

I can't commit to an exact, specific, 100% written-in-blood guaranteed hour I can post for the tournament. I know Enki does not have physical access to his work hours prior to a week beforehand - I don't believe his workplace even makes up schedules before them. Flex hours are a thing, and I work in a customer-facing job with unpredictable stretches of Good Post Time and No Post Time. I'll get timezones and rough hours up, but I'm not going to accept defaults and penalties for missing a post window I ballparked a month before the fight by ten minutes.

Nevertheless, thanks for clarification on teleportation.

I'm not that anal and every week you update your availability by reposting it so don't stress the availability you are submitting now. I'll be asking for it again next week and every week until you win or eliminated. Just try to give me some rough estimates and a timezone.

Hmm, fire many times hotter than the sun, impressive.

I must say, my concerns about massive power creep have been well founded thus far, I'm interested to see where the bar on powers is set. So far this is looking like near godly combatants.

@MelonHead Are you basing that opinion on the rules or just the characters posted up thus far? Just out of curiosity.

RPGuild as a general thing tends towards low-powered or null-powered combat, especially in competitive matches. Empowered tournament events like this seem to be a rarity, at least in my experience.

'Course, the option for those who dislike powered combat is to skip this particular event. Meanwhile, those people who do enjoy a good powered bout can have some fun here, ne?

The characters posted thus far, as I said, I'm interested to see if the host addresses the power levels I'm seeing here and how.

That being said, the rules could probably use tightening if people are entering such a wide range of different scaled characters, but not everyone can come up with air-tight power guides from the outset. Things usually have to be tweaked as they go.

The usual method is to come down hard on people who're abusive in the early rounds, as any judging system tends to. A good powered combatant scales as appropriate to their foe, and such is the plan here for the majority of players I'm in communication with. If the bout is enjoyable to both parties, what matters if the scale is exactly equal? What does exact equality even mean in a fluid and subjective game like this one, hm?

Generally speaking tournament play is specifically designed to be competitive, so like modern combat sports, it has weight classes. You don't see true equality even in that 'unpowered' level of play, but you like to see characters that at least seem to stand in a similar class of power, so as to determine at least in part who is outright the better fighter, rather than the better character.

They don't have weight classes in Street Fighter, Quake, or even break dancing competitions. The most they will have is divisions for different tiered players because of skill gaps. The characters are being examined one at a time. Take this time to sign up to a Yu Gi Oh local tournament and ask for a weight class. They'd probably direct you to formats instead.

@golathf If I must. I merely wish to ask that those who are actively and explicitly not participating in the tournament not heckle those who are based solely on their disapproval of the clearly stated and advertised power tier of the characters in question.

Everyone submitting a sheet here knows exactly what they're getting into and likes it that way, or they wouldn't be here. Why give 'em grief for it?

Street Fighter is a game designed, at least in part, with balance between all the characters in mind. In tournament play, many characters are often banned from games such as those because they are unbalanced, so I'm not sure I quite understand your point?

Yu-Gi-Oh is also plagued with balance issues, so in tournament play you see a number of cards outright banned, same logic applies, it's in the interest of creating a level playing field in a competitive environment.

I'm not going to question your logic before I've even seen how you intend to measure the character's entered, I'm just saying I'm not surprised that you've reeled in some whoppers, so to speak, so I'll leave this here.

Since when or in what tournaments do certain character in Street Fighter get banned? I think you're kinda pulling stuff outta some place here. Games like SF, BB, GG, etc. never had to ban characters even if they were op. They might of been cheap yea but that's literally the first time I've ever heard of something like that. Gonna need a source on that.

All characters posted are posted for judges to look over them and either approve or reject whatever's happening in there. Judging the power level of the tournament based off the current profiles is flawed logic in that case.
