“Do you think you can make it on your own?” The staff member asked as Nyla slide from the car. She turned and started walking in the opposite direction from the house. He took her hand in his, and well cursing himself for not realizing how involved this job would be, steered her towards the house.
The door to the place had been busted in, making the staff member frown, and wonder whether this would really be a good place to leave the girl. He glanced at her, she was unfazed by the sight, with a slight smile on her lips, probably from when he took her hand.
He had been ready to just drop her off and leave, but first he had to make sure she would be safe here. He shivered as he entered through door, probably because of all the powerful occupants, this felt like a place where he shouldn’t stay to long. He passed a boy that was staring into another room where people were talking, and made his way into the lobby.
“Stay here.” He told Nyla as he released her hand. His head swerved as he looked for someone who looked like they might be in charge. He didn’t look for too long before realizing Nyla had already disappeared. He sighed, because this was supposed to be her new home, he would just let her wonder around for a bit. He would find her and take her back to the hospital if he felt the place wasn’t safe.
It was a strange place Nyla had never been, full of people she didn’t now, and where she would live a life she was unfamiliar with. She didn’t feel nervous in the least. She was happy just knowing that someone was with her. She paid no attention to her surroundings, and just let herself be guided.
She noticed it a little way in that someone was hurting. As far as pain went, she could tell it wasn’t much (on a scale were most people are screaming in pain).
You probably wish you were in a lot more pain, she thought to herself. Then she remembered that most people don’t like being in pain. Something she didn’t really understand.
Once her hand was released, she immediately headed in the direction of the person that was hurting. She came to door that was at the end of a hallway, which she starred at as if it was truly perplexing. She could hear two people talking behind the door. She glared at the door like it had just done something very distasteful.
She continued to glare at it, as if doing so would make it move out of the way.
