Having it at 5 also poses the question to the GM, "does this person need to be banned from my roleplay?" It is not really a tool that should be used a a blocking feature for people you dislike nor want to ignore, but it's a tool for when you believe that your roleplay is at a risk of being derailed by some unruly contributors.

Well, you have a point there. I assume the RPs that have been ridiculously long running (or just really unlucky) deserve more than five banned users.

After a while and if you need to temporary ban someone else beyond your 5, you can always remove one of the banned members that has left you alone for a while. By that point they've probably vented enough or moved on to other projects. If there is ever a point where you feel that what you are doing is yielding no results then you are free to contact one of the moderators for advice and assistance.

Edit: Checking, I believe a mod can go beyond 5, so yes. If you have persistent problems, we are able to assist.

One reason why putting Descriptions on why people are banned is that it encourages negative discussion about someone behind their backs where they are unable to defend themselves. That's why I say it's abusable more than the feature itself. I don't believe that sort of discussion is edifying to a community. @Mr Allen J

While I don't particularly feel like starting a debate, the description would (and should) only be viewable by the banned player, and the GMs.

I think the fact that you had to be forcibly removed from an RP by matter of a ban already kind of is shaming enough. Letting a GM add a description to detail the offense won't change that.

Besides, the description wouldn't be 20 paragraphs, it'd be like a sentence max?

Also, if someone is banned many times enough from different rps, after a number is reached you could red flag that person by giving his name a red flag badge so other people know who they're dealing with when said person shows interest.

I don't think this is a solution... well, to something it is, but it creates a whole another problem. Who would take anyone with a red flag to their RP? It might just as well be a sitewide ban at that point.

Makes it too easy for even fairly small groups or individuals to ostracize someone (and to be fair, I think even this current banning system might be too lenient). Not supportive.

@Bishop

At that point, I would be able to create X number of RPs and ban one player from each of them, just to destroy their reputation on the Guild. GMs should have power in their own business, but not in the business of others.

Doesn't even account for the fact that making a new account is easy as piss. From a ''perp'' perspective even the current measures are futile.

That can both have a positive and negative impact on people and the community. You have to remember that an individual's ban from an rp is up to the GM's discretion, not a clear reflection on the member as a whole. There could be a number of reasons why the person was blocked that doesn't involve being aggressive towards the GM or RP (eg: blocked because of a lack of activity, or the GM doesn't like their writing skill/style)

Presenting a public red flag on a member based on how many blocks they have is something that could be very unfair and exploitable, all while bordering on the line of harassment and bullying. If at that point there is a member that is creating multiple problems then it is something that the public should not take into their own hands to control. The last thing we want is for a member to feel targeted, to feel unwelcome because of a few mishaps and thread blocks.

Hello I was just wondering what the discord was for this place? I was on it ages ago but I left and have only recently started using this website again. Although if there needs to be some sort of failsafe so you know I'm not a filthy spammer that makes sense. Ask me what the capital city of Mozambique is. I dare you. I'll get it right.

Well there are certain ways to get past the misconduct of that mechanic, in the end its too much work for something that isn't even that big of a problem. No need to add more candles to the cake that Mahz cooked. I wrote that while thinking that you should only ban someone from your RP when they refused to leave after you explicitly stated that they should leave beforehand. Banning someone directly without giving them the warning to leave first is like breaking up with someone with a text message.

I think this was discussed in the past, but I'm wondering if this could ever become a feature:

Since we allowed GM banning, what about the ability to hide posts with the press of a button? Not like moderators who can completely remove posts, what I believe it should entail is that anyone would be able to show the post (for themselves) with the press of a button (or if you have a better idea, I'm all ears). This would be super helpful when I GM because I can filter out people who got accepted but never posted, thus waste a spot in the CHAR tab!

Every time I scroll over their sheets, it's like they're insulting me.

And yes, it probably can be really abused, but so can the ban feature. lol

This would be very useful for lots of reasons. Accidental posts, spammers, or people no longer in the RP. Allowing co-DMs this power would be nice too.

I also would like the ability to edit a co-DM's post and vice versa. This would help with battle systems in Tabletop significantly, as well as having othee uses.

Mahz can answer this himself of course, but I believe I saw him mention this feature already as something he'd like to implement in time.

GM/Co-GM editing each other's posts can be risky if they get into a conflict (which does happen occasionally), but what Mahz has spoken of in the past, @JBRam2002, is adding a "0th post" to each tab, where GM and co-GMs all have full edit permissions.

Though it could be interesting if posts could have a checkbox thingy available only to GM/Co-GM for making any later post a "GM post" with the same edit permissions as the 0th post. Sort of a system for distinguishing GM announcements.

We made it fairly simple for our RP when it comes to sheets and dealing with dropouts.... any dropouts that never posted in the IC, we ask the mods to hide the sheet post of. But more importantly, anyone who gets their sheet approved is asked to post it in a hider. That way, its easier to scroll to find a specific sheet.

Oh, that reminds us of a useful feature we think we recall from the pre-guildfall guild... ability to disable signature on a post-by-post basis. That could perhaps be very useful for certain CS/IC tabs to make reading even more streamlined.
