Raijin is the sixth, yes; I'm sure he'll put his character there when he's ready, no worries at this point. I'm not bothered by someone posting IC without moving their CS to the characters tab if they have been otherwise approved.

You do raise a good point, though, about avoiding confusion about who's been accepted into the RP. I will probably edit my post in the characters tab to include a list of players with their respective characters so it can just be glanced it. Not sure I'll get to it immediately, but it seems like a sensible thing to do.

I'm okay if you want to use colored text for character speech, but I'm not requiring it. As long as it's written so that it's clear who is speaking, that should be enough.

I'm on board for a Discord chat for this group. Group chats have been useful to me in roleplays before, so I know what to expect.

Tergonaut, if anything in the way of the downed fighter is not compatible with the story, please let me know so that I can edit my posts. I have tried to keep the technology on the low side; only what is necessary for the intro to work. Also, I'm glad you mentioned the ideas of maybe scrapping the vessel, or even eventually repairing it, because either idea will work very well for the direction I'm intending to take this character.

I just feel sorry for Sam, when she finds out she's got to stay "out in the sticks", miles away from any regular sources for her shop. Speaking of...also, no shop. She's really going to have to step up her scrap game this time. :D

Don't feel too bad about the relative lack of available scrap for Sam...that will likely be addressed fairly early on once I get the adventure proper started that I already have planned. And I'm not worried about the ship unbalancing things, it's mostly a plot way to get Sam into things for now.

And no worries, Dusk, RL happens and we aren't in a super hurry.

I have to admit, I'm kinda curious about running a Discord and want to see how it works out for the group. It'd be a great way to coordinate posts and shoot ideas at each other regarding the RP.

Just in case anyone missed it in the Discord; I've just posted, and we're looking at follow-up posts from BlessedWrath and Raijinslayer, and then we'll see where we are at as far as who's next to post.

I'm very glad everyone was able to join the Discord server, and it seems like it's an immediate help in coordinating our activities with a minimum of extra fuss. We've got some neat potential for the story ahead, and I can tell from the Discord discussion that we've got more ideas and creativity coming as a group, so I'm looking forward to seeing what we'll forge as we press on.

One minor detail that I realized after the fact was, "Gee, this is Faiza, not Earth; why would we have brand names like BMW?" My answer to myself was, "Imports!" Thus my second post's explanation about the BMW.

I am determined to be consistent, but I'm also more interested in moving the story along than forcing unnecessary editing if we make references like that. It'll be a better flavor for the RP if we come up with unique brand names as time goes on, but if we need to refer to a specific Earth-made product, we can just use RL brand names if it fits the flavor of what we want to go for.

Posting tonight. For now, I have to go out with my mate to do some resaling. After leaving my job, I have to get money any way I can, and for now, that means frequent trips to the thrift shops. You really would be surprised at what people throw away. We found an inventory scale for ten bucks and flipped it for $450.

I know (more or less) how to proceed from here. It'll just take me a few hours before I can do it.

@Valor, just a minor heads-up with your post: The fire suppression system in Sam's fighter uses a modulating force field to create an artificial vacuum. It's far more effective than foam, so there's no need for a liquid or chemical component. It's a branch of shield technology. The initial pulse would have created enough of a gust to blow out any small fires within range of the crash path, so you're on point with that.

Just a note: I know we've been using the Discord an awful lot for discussing OOC things, but I figure I should use the OOC tab for any major announcements and whatnot.

I disabled the invite link to the Discord since all current active players have joined it. I don't think we'll really have a reason to have anybody else join the chat, and this is a preventative measure to keep random people from joining the chat. If we ever have a reason to bring someone else into the chat, I can always create a new link.

Just a reminder that our RPs in the IC channel of the Discord are not meant to affect the IC of the actual RP (except insofar as it gives you new perspective on the way your characters thinks and acts). I've mentioned it before, but just in case anyone missed it (what with chat going so fast and all at times), here you go.

We have had a few bumps on the road of this RP so far, but it's already been about twenty days since the RP was first posted up, and a month since the interest check was posted. Not bad for a fairly fresh, unformed idea with a random group of roleplayers who have never RPed together before!

Okay, because there is some uncertainty about what is going on with the RP, I'm posting my intentions and instructions for how we will proceed.

I am going to do an IC post next to move the plot forward. That post will be done sometime tonight. I ask that no one else post until after the plot is moved forward. This will be my answer to the current conundrum of getting the RP moving again.

I understand that some of you have work or school obligations that are preventing you from posting more often. I also understand some of you are much more available to continue the RP and are feeling held back as a result of others not being able to post as much. If I leave things as they are, it will take weeks to months to get things sorted out enough for us to get started on the plot...and we've already spent over a month just getting people to the lodge.

Therefore, I am going to institute a new policy of posting attendance: if you do not post within 2 weeks from your last post in the RP in either IC or OOC, then I will proceed with the RP as if your character is no longer there, and encourage all other players to continue without you. I may or may not recruit new players to fill your former slot as I see fit thereafter.

However, because introducing that rule well after the RP started is not particularly fair to those of you who have already notified me of school/work concerns making it hard for you to post, I am adding an extra caveat for all of the players that were accepted initially. This rule will take effect for you after you make your next post in the RP.

Furthermore, because it creates havoc to assume your characters are still in the RP without getting any confirmation, your characters will be "invisible" in the posts following my plot-forwarding post until you make your next post. In other words, you may join the plot at any point after my plot post, but until you do, we will assume your character is not there for ease of speeding up interaction and not doing things without your character. This is akin to your gaming group playing a session of a tabletop RPG if you are not there to play as your character; your character is assumed to have been there, but does not actively participate because you were not there to play your character, so your skills, backstory, equipment, etc., are not available to the rest of the party to use without your consent.

If you have any questions or concerns with this new policy, please ask here in the OOC so we can all address the issue.

I am also deleting the IC channel tonight at 8pm Mountain time; if you have not retrieved the logs from it that you want before that time, and if there are no requests to extend the time to allow you to do so, then it will be deleted entirely, due to general consensus that it was taking away from the main RP thread. I may create a new IC channel at a later date after we've established the living situation at the lodge better, but for now, we will go without.
