Bio: Amèlie was born in the village of Bugarach, France, and has never left it. Bugarach, a tiny commune near Carcassonne with a population of about 300 people, has always been something of a hub for the divine and the spiritual, but not exactly in the way you may be expecting. Bugarach is named for the Pic de Bugarach, a beautiful mountain at whose foot the commune is built. However, there is something odd about the mountain. Analysis of the mountain's stone has indicated that the top layers of the mountain's stone are older than its lower layers. There is a perfectly reasonable geological explanation for this, but that hasn't stopped many from attributing it to otherworldly forces. Likely the most famous theory as to how the mountain is the way it is states that a dangerous race of aliens are buried beneath the mountain, and will emerged to destroy and/or conquer the world at the end of the Mesopotamian Long Count Calendar in 2012. Naturally, 2012 has come and gone, but the mountain has remained a point of interest for esoteric spiritual groups throughout France and throughout the world.

One such group that holds the mountain in such high regard is the Gardiens de l'aube, a strange group of spiritualists who venerate the sun as well as the mountain. They believe that the mountain is a living being who wills the sun to rise each day. They have a few complex spiritual beliefs and practices that I could go into, but the one that's most relevant to this discussion is a prophecy that one day, the Morning Mother will give unto the world her only child, the Child of the Dawn, who is prophesied to rid the world of a great evil, and bring light to Earth's darkest hour.

Amèlie, to circle back, was born in the shadow of the Mountain and has never left her commune. Her parents are devoted members of the GDA, and even legally changed their last name to Lumière (which is literally the French word for light) as a show of devotion to the Morning Mother. Amèlie was born on a cool spring morning and spent all her life devoted to helping her little village thrive. One day, however, her father was beaten badly by a rowdy group of visiting tourists. Shocked and terrified, Amèlie charged the drunken reprobates and tried to scare them off. Her entire body glowed with blinding white light, scaring the drunks away without much trouble. Then, panicked, she rushed over to her father and simply willed him back to health. This was the first time either of these things had happened, and Amèlie was as surprised as anyone else. But the GDA rejoiced, because these abilities must have meant that Amèlie, who they had kept safe and raised all these years, was the Child of Dawn, the Chosen One, destined to save the world. For years, the GDA kept Amèlie safe and helped her to focus her powers.

On the morning of her sixteenth birthday, the GDA presented Amèlie with a few days' worth of supplies, provided her with a good, strong horse, and told her that the time had come. Amèlie set off into the world, excited to see all that she had not yet had the chance to, and eager to fulfill her destiny.

Personality: She is headstrong, proud and unstoppably determined. She was once a carefree girl, but her indoctrination has left her rigid and deadly serious in all things. She is not uncaring however, it is simply her duty to be a bastion of power to remain focused, so that those who are weaker can live their carefree lives in safety and peace. This is something of a shell however, an armor built of hubris to let her fulfill her purpose. Beneath it all she just wants this all to be over, so she can return to the life she had before.

Born to the hidden city of Atlantis, one of the few places on earth still free from the Elemental Kings thrall. Isolationist since before recorded human history the sunken city sees the conquest of the surface world as a thing beyond their concern, the humans fight among themselves all the time, empires rise, empires fall, this dictator too shall pass in time. It is a tragedy to see them suffer, but they are too few to go on the offensive, so why waste their lives when they can simply wait. Hidden. Safe. For beneath the waves we are invincible. He would be a fool to come here even if he knew.

The prophecy took this plan and shattered it into a million pieces. Cynthea's birth and destiny where the most debated topic in the halls of the kingdom of the free. Should they join the daughter of water in her war? Should they defy the prophecy, steal the human's hope to ensure their existence would remain hidden? Should they simply send her on her own? While argument and counter argument raged in the halls of power the girl herself led the tranquil life of an Atlantean. She played hide and seek within the caves with the other children, learned to read and write, to use her atlantean abilities to a basic extent. It was a simple life, an easy one. When you can simply command your dinner to present itself before you there really is little to worry about when it comes to your future.

by the tame she reached age 10 however, it was decided that no matter what they end up choosing to do with the chosen of the waters, she must be trained, she must be ready for whatever the future holds. She was taken from her family and inducted in the Esoteric Order of Dagon. She was scared when they took her away from her home, confused that her parent’s did not stop them. She was terrified when they took her eyes. But then she learned, learned to use her Atlantean powers to their full potential, to see the world not through the dim light of the sun but through her connection with the water, with the life that lived in it. She learned to manipulate the flow of water around her, to command all the beasts of the ocean in greater numbers and she learned of her purpose. Her destiny.

When they thought she was ready she was taken before him, that great and most ancient of beasts who slumbered beneath the great city, the water god made mortal, or so they believed. It was supposed to be a humbling experience for a fully trained member of the order, to show that no matter how much power she had gained she would never surpass the old one, never know or command a mind so alien. She failed that last lesson.

The old men in their palaces were taking too long, bickering and fighting yet never coming to a decision. for 18 years had they dallied. So she made the choice for them. She took the old one and ascended to meet her destiny. She did not know what challenges awaited her above, but she had 70% of the surface of the earth at her command. What could possibly stand before her.

How does one describe a being this vast, this old, this horrifying. how does one explain the demeanor of an unstoppable force of nature. In a word: lazy. This massive sea creature would be asleep beneath Atlantis if it weren't for Cthylla. As it is they are currently but a vessel for her purpose, a battering ram to break down the elemental king’s dominion. It is unclear what they will do now that they are awake, but it is likely if she loses control the great beast will return to the ocean to sleep once more, awaiting who know what unseen dawn to finally awaken.

The best way to describe Havok would be a mixture between a bloodthirsty mercenary and a feral dog. He stands at 6'2 and is incredibly well built but it seems that his skin is pulled tight over his muscles, giving him an aura of hidden danger and feral desperation. His skin is unnaturally pale and crisscrossed with bright pink scars and his hair is dyed a light blue, but this is rarely seen. Havok's teeth are crooked and sharp, with both sets of canines replaced with sharpened steel. Lastly Havok slathers a caustic goop on and around his eyes, turning the pupil, iris, sclera, eyelids, and the skin around them red and bloodshot. Interesting enough the shade of red is dependant on his mood, with joy being a soft pink while rage is a deep crimson.

Personality: An impulsive, anarchic maniac who lives only to spread mayhem across the Elemental King's property.
Havok is lead by his desire to avoid boredom and fill his life with excitement, it's just that his particular brand of fun includes guns, blood, and various explosives in liberal amounts. However this isn't to say that he's a bomb slinging hooligan looking for any ol' target, no for him the ultimate thrill is shaking the very foundations of the area, both literally and figuratively, by targeting buildings and people associated by the established regime. Besides, why shank a random schmuck when you can annihilate a building filled with people who probably deserved it anyway?

Bio: Havok is a figure shrouded in mystery, having apparently appeared out of thin air to raid the police station in a storm of fire and steel. Since then his exploits have only ever grown, melting down refineries, burning the contents of banks, spiriting away convoys of weapons, and leaving only shell casings and rubble behind. In the wake sense his dramatic entrance into the world rumours have run wild in trying to explain the young criminals origins, with the only one having any weight is his undeniable connection to the disastrous and abandoned penal colony outside of Detroit, the Hazard Mines.

Power: Spontaneous Construction, in seconds Ruin is able to craft nearly anything he can imagine if he has the parts on hand. These creations look very ramshackle and hastily put together, usually rifles with multiple barrels and several belts of ammo threading through them. Oddly enough it is unknown how his creations work, let alone how they do not explode in his face as anyone who has been able to lay their hands on them have found many of them to not work or simply explode. It's almost comical if not for the fact that those who usually get these weapons pointed at tend to become a fine crimson mist.

Personality: Because he spent five years without human contact Adam can be a bit socially awkward. He also has trouble telling when someone is lying and tends to rely on the judgment of people he trusts in those situations. While he isn't paranoid it can take time for him to place his trust in those he doesn't know, especially if they have any connections to the Elemental King.

Bio: Adam was born, and spent the first fourteen years of his life, in a village on the foot of the Stahl Peaks. Due to Rockmead only housing about 250 people and being out of the way it was pretty much ignored by the King's guards, though they still checked on it four times a year. The downside of being so small and secluded is that they aren't exactly up to date when it comes to technology or current events.

Adam first showed his elemental powers when he was ten years old, and despite his parents' attempts to keep it a secret just about everyone in Rockmead knew by the time he was eleven. Out of a desire not to to have their homes razed to the ground none of the villagers told the Guards.

When he was fourteen Adam finally heard of the prophecy and quickly figured out part of it applied to him. To avoid endangering the village he left and made his home in the Stahl Peaks. Despite the villagers pretending not to know them about him once a month some of them left clothes, medicine and things like bandages where he could find them.

Power: Adam can concentrate his motion into any part of his body, allowing him to instantly accelerate without any warning.

Name: Nicholas 'Nick' Juniper

Appearance: Nicholas stands just a little under 5'7", with a lean muscled build that is suggestive of someone who participates in a fair amount of physical activity. He has very soft, gentle facial features with the exception of his striking red eyes. His hair is blonde and choppy, with tangled locks spiked up in a very eclectic fashion. His pale complexion is littered with freckles across his cheeks and nose bridge. These same freckles can be seen along the back of his neck as well as the top of his shoulders. Nicholas is almost always seen wearing some kind of bruise and a cheeky smile, lending to his mischievous and rough nature.

His casual attire is usually just a pair of khaki shorts and a white singlet, with a bone necklace hanging from his neck. Though on the rare occasion Nicholas likes to impress, he has been known to don a pair of sleek black trousers and dress shoes with a matching button up shirt and hooded blazer.

Personality: An impulsive troublemaker with unmatched drive and a heart of gold.
Nicholas has been described by many as brash and temperamental. He doesn't know the meaning of the word 'subtle' and does everything with a bang. He has a desire to be at the center of attention wherever he is, and refuses to be bested by anyone. This stubbornness can often cause him to bite off more than he can chew. Coupled with his extreme temper and hatred of his own weakness, Nicholas is known to get a little hot headed and irrational at times.

A bit of a prankster, Nicholas doesn't see the harm in a little practical fun at the expense of others. While kind natured at his core,
he can come off as quite insensitive with his cheap tricks and impeccable way of getting underneath your skin for the fun of it. Mostly,
he's just curious to see how people will react or if they're as volatile as he can be. That's not to say he isn't a good sport when someone gives him a taste of his own medicine; he appreciates a good joke as much as the next guy. Though you'd better be ready for his inevitable attempt to one up you and have the last laugh.

Biography: North-east from the coast of Queensland, just south of Noumea, is the island of Malkuth; an island resting upon a dormant underground volcano. The people of Malkuth are proud and headstrong, resisting the fiendish grip of the Elemental Tyrant with all their might. Devout believers of the ancient prophecy, the islands residents have built their way of life around preparing for the chosen elemental child to be born. When Nicholas was born to a young couple from Australia who sought refuge in the islands, the volcano erupted for the first time in what they believed to be thousands of years. The islanders took this to be a sign from the Elemental God of Fire.

There was quite a lot of controversy over raising Nicholas under the ways of Malkuthian tradition, as many viewed he and his family as nothing but outsiders. Though once the young mans power over Fire began to manifest, there could be no doubt that he was indeed one of the children of the prophecy. Though as quick as he'd attained them, his power began to spiral out of control. Fire is, after all, unpredictable and brash; much like Nicholas himself. For his own safety and that of the people, Nicholas was sent underneath the island to an ancient temple built within the scorching volcano. Here he would confide with the Fire Sages, who helped him better understand the power of Flame as well as trained him in martial arts and meditation.

Though Nicholas was never one to be satisfied with a life cooped inside some stuffy old temple. Whilst he respected the Sages and their teachings, the talk of the prophecy he was born into filled his head with visions of grandeur. So, one night, he stole a small sailboat and headed off into the sea to chase his dreams and fulfill the prophecy.

Element: Fire
Nicholas is able to produce and manipulate fire to his whim. Whilst his element is inherently destructive, Nicholas has learnt to some degree to control the raging inferno that is his element. Though his patience is very thin, and he can be a bit of a wildfire when he starts to feel flustered.

In addition to flames, Nicholas is also able to produce intense explosions that hold incredible destructive power. Though these expend a lot more energy and effort to use. He hasn't quite fully grasped this power yet, only able to produce minor eruptions.

Fire is also the element of emotion; or more specifically passion and fury. Nicholas' Inner Flame grows stronger the more he lets himself succumb to his own rage and drive. In this state, the intensity and power of his fire grows. Though much like the emotions themselves, the flames created from these feelings are wild, unpredictable and dangerous to foes, allies and Nicholas himself.

Power: Icarus Drive
Nicholas is able to sprout a pair of spectral phoenix wings, burning brightly and allowing him the ability of Flight. These wings can be augmented with his own Fire, allowing them to be used as melee weapons. He has little control over this ability as of yet and can only use it when his Inner Flame blazes to life.

Appearance:
5’2’’ and 105 lbs, Jakobe barely hits her recommended weight. Certainly not an imposing figure. Much less so with her soft features and scared grey eyes. Her long red hair is always pulled back in a ponytail, away from her eyes. She usually wears a simple t-shirt and jeans under her layers of winter clothes, her only form of accessory being a blue diving watch on her left wrist. It’s less for use than it is for sentimental value.

Personality:
Quiet, reserved, and jittery. Jakobe is a girl of few words. She’s grown used to have very few people to talk to, so she’s used to keeping her thoughts to herself. Extremely level-headed though easily flustered, Jakobe is a born survivor. She prefers being in the background, away from attention, safe in anonymity. She’s small enough to get her way in that regard. Her family drilled paranoia and cynicism into her as a means to keep her safe. As such, she isn't very good or trusting when it comes to people. She hasn’t seen many of them in her life, after all. But she is still a naïve child, and if you make her feel safe even a little bit, you’ll find her almost attached at your waist. She is desperate for company, terrified of being left alone. Alone, she’s defenseless.

Young as she is and so new to her powers, what with her ingrained skepticism, Jakobe has little to no faith in herself. Much less the prophecy. Like most of the people in her homeland, she finds it absurd, despite knowing of the powerful magic that exists in the world. All she wants is a home, somewhere to feel safe in. She's not really sure how far she'll go to get that.

After years of the Elemental King’s infanticidal rule, Scandinavia's population has become small enough to be housed in few and scattered apartment blocks, sky-scraping behemoths, so tall that the only lightning that ever struck did so on their lightning rods. In Sweden, these are called jättetrakter. The people within these barely ever leave them. There’s nothing but miles and miles of desolate towns in between them. The jättetrakter are slowly becomes ghost towns themselves. Their inhabitants age, and without children, their numbers only grow smaller. With the exception of Stockholm, most jättetrakter nowadays are only half filled with people, whole floors left void of life.

One such jättetrakt, where Skogstorp once stood, is more than just brick and metal. In its foundations lie ancient spells, enchanted runestones whose magic muddles even the Elemental King’s. Its walls rumbled, power outages plagued it, and the skies seemed to be always ravaged by thunderstorms. It wasn’t long before the place was called haunted by its inhabitants. When enough of them died out, the few people who lived in it abandoned it, in favor for the Stockholm jättetrakt. It’s lonely silhouette was a grim reminder of the toll of the Elemental King’s rule. Yet, its walls hid a secret that threatened to tear down this same rule: a child. Fourteen years ago, Bengta Söderström fell pregnant. She, her husband, and mother sought refuge within these haunted walls, hoping their daughter would be safe from the Elemental King. It was a only one of hundreds of abandoned jättetrakter. Surely the King wouldn't think much of it. They’d all heard of the prophecy, that the Elemental King’s infanticidal rampage was due to his fear of eight children destined to overthrow him. Ridiculous. How could children overthrow a king? All they were sure of was that their daughter was in danger as long as she was a child. If they could just keep her hidden until adulthood, until she isn’t a threat to the king, she would be safe. All they had to do was wait, and hope Jakobe would grow to womanhood before she could fall into the Elemental King’s hand.

Jakobe, like most inhabitants of jättetrakter, never really saw the light of day, raised within the metal confines of her home. But she didn’t mind. She was never drawn to the outside world. Out there she could be seen. Out there she could be hunted. She was happy, safe, even if just with the company of her parents, grandmother, and Mattias, the sole survivor of a elkhound litter they found in the higher levels of the jättetrakt. No, Jakobe wasn’t lonely. What she was is afraid. The Elemental King’s power only kept growing, and her family only kept wasting away. She could tell her father’s knees didn’t work as they did before, the growing grey hairs on her mother’s head. Her grandmother grew weaker every day. The Söderströms were fighting against time. They were few, fading. None were warriors, and none could defend themselves from the Elemental King’s wrath should word reach him of the child they keep in secret.

Their worst fear became true when one night a group of rangers sought shelter in their jättetrakt. They found young Jakobe in the lower levels, and when they attempted to take her, her family came to her help. They lost. Her father, mother, and grandmother were all killed, and she was alone. One of the men grabbed Jakobe by the hair as she tried to escape and pulled. There was a blinding light, a sound like cymbals crashing together. The men fell to the ground, burnt and smoking, hearts no longer beating. Jakobe was next to her father’s body, digging her face in his chest, sobbing.

More would come, she knew that much. She had no choice but to leave her home, or she would surely be captured by the Elemental King. She couldn't save her family, but she could honor them and carry on their task by staying alive. With only some supplies and Mattias at her side, Jakobe left her home. She had no idea where to go, no idea what her newfound powers meant. She only knew she had to move. Nowhere was safe. Not as long as the Elemental King was alive.

Power: Technopathy. Jakobe can communicate with and control technology, which made upkeep of the jättetrakt easy. It’s a power she doesn’t really know she has. Her family always thought Jakobe was just really good with technology, so that’s what she believes.

Mattias, as any elkhound, is an extremely loyal, brave, powerful beast. Having been raised by Jakobe, he shows her complete dedication and would do anything to keep her safe. He would never back down from a fight for her sale, not even against creatures twice his size, as elkhounds do. Mattias has tons of energy and needs to release it, oftentimes in the form of bouncing along his master, running in circles, or even digging holes in random places. He is Jakobe’s only friend, and she his. Anyone that threatened either of them has hell coming.
