OOC is now up.

Now I'm talking about the Light Novel/Anime of Overlord here for any wondering. As interesting as the series is, frankly there is still almost zero danger for Momonga and the Great Tomb of Nazarik. The world around them is basically screwed as these nightmarish creatures descend on the world with nothing to stop them.

So basically the premise I was thinking of was that another player, or players, were also present and sucked into the new world. Perhaps a guild full of Angels and elementals for instance that could become a counterbalance for the Tomb of Nazarik. The anime didn't get into it too much but if you ever read most of the translated light novels, you'd know a lot of Ainz Ooal Gown's npcs have some very evil hobbies and personalities.

Locations that would make the most sense for this alternate player base would probably be the Slane Theocracy or Dragonic Kingdom; maybe the Argrand Council Alliance or Roble Holy Kingdom as well. Might be easier to not start in the Slane Theocracy since they are the most developed nation in the Light Novels after Re-Estize and Baharuth Empires though their Holy humanity first attitudes would certainly make for an interesting starting location.

Eventually paths would start to cross with Great Tomb of Nazarik NPCs and things would get more intense from then.

Thoughts? Questions? Etc.

I may be interested depending on the expected writing length (I prefer more detailed characters, and settings with a clear objective), and the expectation on the characters. For example are we all supposed to be like the main focus of the anime/light novel? Or are we allowed to play hero characters?

Will we retain our knowledge of the real world?

What's the power scale limit for our characters? Low? Average? Momonga level of broken?

Are we going to be strict with the mana/stamina limits like it's an actual MMO?

@IceHeart Honestly, i am firstly submitting interest in this due to the sheer fact this is the first Overlord RP i have seen on here.

Secondly, i agree with @vancexentan's questions, since they are a bit of what i wanted to ask about as well.

Third, i would like to know what the posting limits would be (once a week, once every other week, that sort of thing), and level of detail expected (2-3 paragraphs per post, just 1-2 per post, that sort of thing).

Fourth, i'd throw in my vote for putting the players in a similar vote to Momonga power-scale-wise, in other words finding a challenge in each other and being "broken" to the rest of the fantasy world (excluding Momonga and co though). A focus on finding things out, learning, exploring, giving us at least a chance against Momonga and Co if we attempt to fight them, and other having to choose our battles well to avoid being singled out everyone's enemy eventually could be things for us to do. After all, things like the Slane Theocracy's "Downfall of Castle and Country" World item could be presented as major problems to face for players along with the likes of Momonga and Co if one or more people tried to abuse their power too much IC and attempted to make a mess of things.

Fifth, as for the makeup of players i'd throw in my vote for aiming for a "mix" of players, good, neutral, and/or evil, in essence having a range of players from the game from those who might get along with the likes of Momonga to those who might ignore him or directly oppose oppose him otherwise.

But this is just me rattling off a bit! XD

I know I participated in one with a vampire character, which I would not mind getting to recycle, given the amount of work I put into him.

This does interest me. With some questions raised and not too much said so far, I'll put in my two cents.

I also think we should be "Broken" and Players who also got stuck in the Game. The adventure is exploring the world and figuring out what our powers could do to influence the World, as it is now very much alive. Forging an Empire? Stomping out another for their Cruel or Good acts? Setting the world in flame cause 'its just a game'? Of course finding something that is actually a challenge. While we can all come from different factions and backgrounds from the Game, we're all in a guild that, I don't know, celebrating the end of the game with playing it in its last hours.

Hm, tentative interest in this. I do love Overlord.

I definitely wouldn't mind starting as some level of 'Momonga level' broken. Not entirely too sure about the idea of actually including the tomb of Nazarick since I'm not really a fan of using cannon characters of any kind in fandom settings since it can be tricky to pull off and could potentially just become a terrible fanfic...but eh, Overlord. I'll give it a shot regardless.

I would also suggest a mix of alignments as far as personalities and whatnot goes...though, I suppose that would depend on what exactly sort of guild the characters would be a part of, if that would be a thing.

Also I would like to know about how involved the stats/hp/mana whatnot would be from the game. I personally would suggest not sticking to hard to any sort of hard stats. Could just needlessly complicate things.

Very basic premise is that a player from the MMO Yggdrasil stayed in the game while it was shut down but for some reason he was essentially transferred over to another world while keeping his Avatar body and transporting his entire guild space over there. The big thing is though, all the NPCs got transferred over as well but became 'real' along with whatever backstory their creators gave them which created some interesting results. The biggest difference from the normal MMO becomes real world troupe is that Momonga [An Undead Elder Lich with the advanced class of Overlord as well as the one player transferred over] is at the level cap of 100 but most of the fantasy world is like, level 10 and below with the strongest beings getting into maybe the 60s.

Basically he and most of his NPCs are just way too high level for the world so except for some special items there is pretty much nothing that can be considered a danger to him or his NPCs.

@Rune_Alchemist@Thecrash20@Dead Cruiser@vancexentan@Crusader Lord

I would never go for hard stats, besides it is technically no longer a game world even if many of the mechanics kind of slipped over with the players, not not being able to equip items not suited for your class.

So from what I gather from those who expressed interest, all want to be players and don't necessarily want to have a 'single' goal. I had originally thought maybe some people would want to try being NPCs for example so just putting that out there.

So if everyone was a player, you would have a level cap of 100, which is Momonga's level, but could be lower if you wanted. Now of interest to remember is that Momonga did not make his build PvP oriented but roleplay oriented instead so he doesn't have the best battle stats but was always very good at using strategy and helped his guildmates win in PvP by getting information on the enemy in his first battle then exploiting it in the next. Of course since it is now a real world his more roleplay oriented build turns out to be pretty good for the environment and he can't help being so over-leveled in a low-level populated world.

One of the most interesting aspects of Overlord is how your Racial status and passive skills can have a substantial effect on your real world persona, like how Momonga as an undead hardly feels at all anymore for people, but since he was originally a person he still maintains some of his humanity. Something to think about in character creation.

As for the Great Tomb of Nazarik and all that that implies, if we keep it there could be some interesting interactions down the road, or have it not be. I would kind of prefer to keep it though as it sets the stage pretty well. If we did get rid of it, then we would either have to make it an alternate universe where it was our guild that got sucked in, or just make it a different timeline of a group that entered either before or after Momonga's era. Either way would be a lot more work though.

Coincidentaly, I was mumbling about how annoyed I was by the fact that no one made an Overlord RP recently for the whole month. I needed this so freaking much.

Consider me interested.

Great, no hard stats. That'd be the only thing that'd be keeping me from being interested.

As for NPCs...I suppose that might depend. I might make a character and an NPC servant of some sort, if my interest and time allows. Hadn't entirely thought of it, but that's definitely something I might at least attempt.

As for the Tomb of Nazarick and Momonga being present...well, that's just a personal preference on my end and as I said I don't really care too much either way. It just feels like actually doing stuff directly with the Tomb might get a little complicated, and I just feel like it'd be a bit difficult to pull off in a good way.

but that's just my opinion, so eh, feel free to ignore.

@IceHeart

You mean like...classes and the world and stuff? I'll be honest, the only stuff with Overlord I know of is the anime and Manga. I don't read the LN's or look up excessive facts about the characters and whatnot.

I don't think either of those things will be too relevant, but it might be a good idea for @IceHeart to maybe provide a bit more information about that, if it's going to be a thing.

@IceHeartAre we all going to be a part of the same guild? Because if so we'd need to establish when all of us got inducted, and our hierarchy (If there is one). Also when it comes to NPC's will they need some sort of character sheet as well? If I choose to join this I'd like to have a character as a normal person. However I've considered the idea of up to three NPC's for him two of which being NPC's he took from a former guild mate as a sort of 'hey I'll take care of them for you dude.' sort of deal.

The character itself would be a paladin sort of character except with a subclass in dual wielding. Sort of as he primarily functions as a way to debuff, and deal damage but he can swap out his shield in favor of an extra sword if he desires. He mostly specializes in dealing with undead, and other demonic classes but can still handle human/holy enemies if need be.

If we're talking about the literal lay of the land there is at least a map to generally go off of, but aside from that we'll just have to make up places, people ect and not worry about any new information that may pop up. If you're going by say classes, there are some interesting character sheets in the light novel which don't give much information but show a general idea of how the Yggdrasil system was suppose to work.

That said while interesting, in our character bios we won't bother with hard stats, exact levels[except maybe what level you reached in the game], and so on; maybe just a general say about where most of your stats are allocated and what class you are. As for classes themselves, you are pretty much just make it up and just say what it is your character specializes in.

Now as for the locations themselves I can at least give some information on the locations but since the novels themselves don't have much it'll be pretty basic.

Re-Estize Kingdom: Ruled by a King and Lords, pretty classic feudalism type overall. Has a Royal faction and Noble faction which keeps things interesting. A human run kingdom that relies on conscriptions for most fighting.

Baharuth Empire: Ruled by an Emperor with a quality standing army. A human civilization as well though occasionally employ non-humans, mostly in slave type positions but even that seems rather rare.

Katze Plains: Basically just a massive undead playground since a lot of battles were fought there.

Dragonic Kingdom: Human based kingdom ruled by a queen who is a descendant of a dragon lord, giving her the ability to use Wild Magic aka Soul Based magic. Currently they are being attacked by the Beastman country to the east who view them as a food source.

Slane Theocracy: A nation of human supremacists who excel at faith based magics divided among six sects. Have quite a few special operative groups for various purposes. Also one of the only known countries to have godkins, basically the descendant of a player character so they are much stronger than anyone else. Also the higher ups know about the "Advent of the Gods" event that happens every 100 years.

Holy Roble Kingdom: Human based nation, that has a great wall separating them from the Wilderness, an area full of demi-human tribes that are constantly at war.

Argland Council Alliance: A demi-human land that is controlled by a parliament and Five Dragon Councillors. Each demi-human race has their own representative in the parliament but the five dragons have the final say in anything.

Trying to keep the information as bare bones as possible so I don't have to worry about it that much. Also there is just not that information on a lot of these places to begin with.

The way I see it, first of all for character interaction sake it would be best to have everyone in the same guild so everyone is spawned in the same area. Now as for the guild itself considering we would want to give players a lot of freedom to choose the guild should not be too specialized. Maybe something along the lines of a dungeon raider guild or a city roleplay guild.

I also had the idea of it just being a random guild that was literally put together for the final day by a player that people could join for the game's last hours, so a bunch of people just transferred all their stuff and NPCs over for a final bash.

@IceHeart I'd say keep the Great Tomb of Nazarik and Momonga and Co as characters to be able to interact with in the RP, whether to fight them or otherwise.

1. But i like the idea of a "last day of the game" guild being made to host a party for various players, who join just to go have some fun until the game ends. Then, upon being teleported to the new world into the same place, they can group up, branch out on their own, or the like to get out into the world, explore, and the like as has been mentioned before. This allows a wide range of alignments and such to be brought together, and this effectively loose alliance of players might even stick for some when they enter the new world.

2. Though secondarily i'd say that a sort of "general purpose guild" might also be a good idea, consisting of a range of players, races, and alignments that came together just to get in-game help in general, whether it be with quests, dungeons, raids, or the like. Due to this nature of being "general purpose" and not really discriminating against the in-game race of its players, the guild has been looked down on by some, especially by those who are "racist" against the likes of the heteromorphic races.

Though also due to this "swiss army knife" sort of organization within the guild, despite being one guild as a whole it has branched into various sub-groups located within the guild that specialize in various aspects of the came, such as "roleplayers" and "hardcore raiders" and the like. Though these smaller groups are not on the scale of full guilds made for that purpose, these smaller groups grant the overall guild a sense of variety, something that comes into play after being transported to the new world. Some might stay guild-bound due to some sense of unity or camaraderie (perhaps being part of the leadership who try to keep at least some of the guild together in the new world), some might have loyalties to their specific groups who perhaps splinter off after arriving, and some might just be average players who joined the guild and never really became attached to one small group or another within it (who might wander off on their own).

At any rate, i have late shifts at work today and tomorrow, so i won't be on at night tonight or tomorrow. But i'll keep an eye here and see if an RP comes to fruition. ;)
