I am decidedly against creating a new thread.

There is some refining to be done, mostly the revision of the OOC given that the Character Tab cleanup is already in process, but we've got a solid enough foundation. More solid than anything we're going to get trying to start from scratch.

And I've said it before, and I'll say it again; attempting an overarching plot didn't go great last time, and I don't see a point in trying again. At least among those I talk to (which is a substantial portion of the playerbase), people are more attached to the character dynamics than any overarching plot. Missions and subplots serve excellently for those in need of something more linear, when we have dedicated people to run them.

Any overhaul to the plot is going to suffer from the same issues we have now, but on an exponentially larger scale.

Yeah I'm with staying in this thread. I feel like far too many people will leave if we made a new thread. Plus I don't see the reason for it, this thread works just fine.

Yeah, I didn't read the whole thing from two months ago but I saw enough to get the impression that a whole new thread was not a great idea. If there's already plans for changes following family day that sounds good to me. If there was a new thread I'd jump over, but I'm new while the rest of you have been around for quite some time and there's a lot of history here, I guess. I say forge on, implement your changes, see how it goes. It seems like little more need be said at this point.

Plus, with a new thread would probably come more people trying to join.

3/4 of which would post a CS, make one or two posts, then disappear.

Not if you keep pestering them to post.

You either get them to state they quit or they stay, both options of which are really fucking good when the alternative is fence-sitting.

Eh, I was just making fun of how that happens so often, lighten the mood maybe. I know, weak joke.

Good advice though. Harassing does tend to get results..

Nothing like a bit of stalking and strongarming to get things moving, or to beat out the dissidents.

Minor update.

-Changed Team CODE in the traditional char tab to Team Dandelion

-Cleaned the OOC's 0th post, and still am. Removed a lot of unnecessary comments for now.

EDIT: I just reduced the size of the ginormous RWBY poster in the 0th post and reformatted the links provided beneath it. Hopefully that'll look better in mobile.

I always miss the drama.

Well, most has been said but another against new thread. Tried it once before, it didn't turn out well.

On the otherhand, I like the idea of overarching plots because it gives us a purpose, something to build up towards, a climax, and ultimately, an ending.

Oh no, an ending?! Why would you want this to end?! ect. You say.

Because that is what makes a story. I could copy and paste deep philosophical quotes by famous authors on endings, but I won't because I don't feel like it. Here is the cold fact: this will not last forever. Sooner or later it will lose traction and die out. Its inevitable, but hopefully not anytime soon. So while we have this brief period where we look around and see we have this great thing built and going, instead of consigning it to a slow, horrible death by inertia, lets make a story, one that will end satisfyingly, then we can step back and be proud of what we have achieved.

After that, who know? We or someone in the future can continue where we left off, or we will simply move on to other things, to write other stories. Character interactions can continue, and we can still keep the fluid sandbox concept. But with a plot that will eventually reach a conclusion.

How we do it is another conversation entirely. I have some ideas, but they don't belong here. This is just me trying to convince you that a definate plot is a good idea for the RP and a healthly one too.

I fundamentally disagree when dealing with a game specifically, and one on this scale. A story should have a definite ending, but we're not telling a definite story. We're playing a game, with many, many more plot threads and focus characters than any sensible story would ever have for the simple reason that there is no one story.

I've been running games on various sites with a solid chunk of the people here for the better part of a decade, and that's where I'm coming from when I say; some RPGs are designed with a beginning, a middle, and an end. This one hasn't been, and it shows. I think that trying to make it have one would be a poor decision.

I'm in favor of having a plot if only so there is a large, unifying event that could allow all players to be involved in, rather than a series of interpersonal plots that may or may not be loosely connected to one another. Like Crimson, I want some sort of a big story so that I can actually feel like that Gren is taking part of a bigger thing than just himself and his issues. Sure, he has problems, and yeah, he could go out of his way to do something about it and get character development. But at the same time he's also perfectly content as he is now, and only has "problems" when they rear their head.

Just because there's a plot doesn't mean there's going to be an End to the RP, just an end to a story. And who doesn't want to be part of a good story? Well, I'm sure some of you don't want anything to do with it. Suit yourself I suppose. I'd just like the option to be able to focus a bit less on our own characters, and more about how they react to something bigger and crazier going on than whatever is happening in their personal lives.

@Lucius Cypher Okay but, you can have a story with an ending just fine already. Make a subplot with some people, kind of like Bianca's cruise. And people who actually want to be involved with it can easy join in.

There, problem solved.
