Living large and liking it that way, Jeff likely has no idea what’s going on. He’s brash and unfortunately honest, with little time for the minutiae of Japan’s suffixes … Largely because he can’t remember them. Regardless, in his mind an honest smile and a firm handshake tend to work well enough. Hopefully. On a daily basis, you’ll find him either studying or working in the training ring, though he has neglected work with his quirk in the past in favor of his martial pursuits. More than anything else, Jeff values fairness, and will happily refuse help from those around him if he thinks it evens up a challenge. This does not, however, apply to asking for directions or what particular kanji mean, as he is still a stranger in a strange land. Intensely focused when a subject has his interest, the fact that his grades are the only thing keeping him in the academy is always in the back of his head. Still, he’s in a new, exciting place and won’t be found without a smile on his face. Forgetful and exuberant, Jeff is going to wring every ounce of excitement he can out of life or die trying.
Background:
Born in a small town in Illinois, Jefferson St. John was raised in an all-american family born and bred on apple pie and football. The third child of his parents, Jeff grew up with two older sisters and a single younger brother, appreciating the values of protecting those dear to him. His father a factory worker and his mother teaching English in the local high school, Jeff always admired those big city heroes who would travel the states protecting the weak, privately swearing to one day join them in their crusade.
Growing up in a small town, Jeff benefited from the miles around the farmland was still damn near wilderness, perfect for hunting season. Oftentimes on holidays and during the weekends, his mother would take the family on camping trips to hunt, trap, fish, and watch the stars away from the few lights of their hometown. To this day, he can still name all the constellations by heart.
While his mother understood the joy of nature, his father had raised him on the sport of his youth: boxing. At the age of eight, Jeff fell deeply in love with the feeling of concussions, and the rest was history. He progressed into wrestling and a few other martial arts as time went on, but his true love was always boxing. Still, disgusted by the use of Quirks in the modern ring, he turned to his friends and a few local aficionados to start a homegrown league of pure, unadulterated sportsmanship.
Through a scheduling issue, he ended up in a little attended Japanese class during the beginning of his middle school days, and in the process learned of the vaunted hero academies in Japan. Without telling his parents or friends, he filed applications for scholarships as he redoubled his efforts in sports and academics to earn the money to attend. Interestingly enough, when someone applies to enough academies, they tend to fall in somewhere. Winning a small academic lottery, Jeff found himself accepted on full ride to Komei Academy. After a terse conversation with his parents about honesty, he found himself heading off on a long plane ride to Japan to discover the next great adventure.

Talents and Skills:
- Boxing: Not a prodigy but a natural talent working hard from the age of eight, he has made significant progress into studying the fine art of bludgeoning another man until he falls down.
- Wrestling: Born in the midwest and considering himself athletic, it would’ve been a sin not to participate.
- Martial Arts: An interest, not a talent. He's tried his hand at a few before, but his heart belongs to boxing.
- Firearms: Not the best shot and not the worst, Jeff still has an unyielding enthusiasm when it comes to firearms, calling them the OTHER great American pastime. This will likely have no effect on his hero work.
- Baking:Bakes surprisingly well, but pie’s always better when shared. Ice cream also helps.
- Braiding hair: His sisters made damn sure they taught him while he was still young and cute.
