Please don't say I didn't warn you.
I really did try my best. But of course, messing with time is such a novel thing that you just had to do it, didn't you? You couldn't help yourself but continue on making each and every little tear in time. Did you ever wonder how the wardrobe worked, how it was able to transport you from one location to another? Well, my dears, here is a bit of a hint. The wardrobe itself is a rip in time, caused by a fundamental imbalance in the universe.
What else did you expect? When something that always must be no longer is--what did you think will happen? And then there's the matter of that pesky little demon...Did you really expect that he was working alone? And what about the fallen angel, Seraphina? Doesn't it seem a little odd that she would be killed and no one else? Doesn't it strike you as strange?
But for those of you playing along, I suppose I could be kind and list off your offenses:
1. The death of the kumakatok (really, Liam? You let that happen? Azrael won't be pleased you allowed her daughter to die so easily)
2. Each use of the wardrobe (come on now, didn't you know no magic comes without a price?)
3. Bringing Fairfax in close proximity with his descendent (must I even explain this?)
4. Freezing time (really?!)
5. Deaths in frozen time (did they really happen? Who knows?!)
And let's not forget the Mullo, though I suppose you haven't realized that yet...That's a shame.
It's astounding...Time is fleeting...Madness takes its toll...
Time is such a delicate thing, but resilient as well. To a certain extent, it can handle little rips and tears. It will always find a way to sort things out properly, to restore things to their natural order. Such was the case with dear Fairfax--he was not supposed to be alive in 2016 and so, time attempted to kill the man in order to restore itself.
Why, if time had been able to, it would have restored the wardrobe as well. Unfortunately, the wardrobe was but a symptom of a larger problem, a problem that a pesky demon prevented from being corrected...Though, that isn't to say that Liam was much help with that either. For a Prophet of the Lord, he didn't do much to help that poor girl.
But listen closely...Not for very much longer...I've got to keep control...
An odd prickling sensation sweeps over you at first slowly and then all at once. It is like being dipped in acid as you feel a sickeningly quick rotation. Air threatens to escape your lungs and never return as you gasp, realizing a moment later that gravity seemingly has lost its pull. You rapidly shoot towards the ceiling of the circus tent, your body crashing into the colorful patched up fabric.
And then there is...
I remember doing the Time Warp...Drinking those moments when...The blackness would hit me...And the void would be calling...
Darkness...No, no, that's not quite right...It isn't darkness--it's every color ever imaginable, all rolled into one. Screams of scarlet and rivers of blue, stripes of purple and splashes of neon green! It's all there, mixing into one with quick flashes and intense flares, enough to drive anyone into an epileptic fit. Your mind can hardly comprehend it, little bits of blood coming out of your nose, your eyes, your ears, it doesn't matter.
Is it a void? No...That isn't quite right either, it's...A tunnel! Yes, it's like a tunnel. It twists and it turns, it changes direction and defies every law of physics will simultaneously obeying them to the letter. It is and it isn't. It is a paradox that makes perfect sense and a paradox that drives men insane.
It is the astral plane, crashing into our reality and sweeping you away with it. Every second--or at least, you assume it is a second, it could easily be far longer or far shorter--brings a new world to your eyes. A new time, a new place, a new fate. You fall through layers upon layers of reality, just brief enough to comprehend them, yet not long enough to begin to understand them...
Let's do the Time Warp again! Let's do the Time Warp again!
It doesn't matter who you are. If you are at the circus, you are free falling through time and space. Folly's eyes open as she gasps for air, revealing yet another crack in reality. Eudora's spell broke time and space, an incomplete spell with incomplete ingredients and foolish motivation. It has brought one of your number back from the dead, yet as you fall so does Faust. Do you think he will not stop trying to kill you as you head through place to place?
It's just a jump to the left...And then a step to the right...
May 13th, 2022: This perhaps isn't the best of times to fall through a hole in space-time. Lying motionless in a hospital bed is a
brunette, her face mostly hidden by what appears to be some sort of helmet. A shiny logo on the helmet's right side identifies it as a piece of nerve gear and to her left, there is game cartridge box, advertising
Sword Art Online, the world's first virtual reality full dive experience!
An upset man, perhaps a brother or a boyfriend or a friend, holds her hand while
a red head rubs his back soothingly. This is a place of tragedy and the silver haired man seems to stare at you for a moment, as if he knew you were there, before you slip through the fabric of reality and continue to fall once more...
With your hands on your hips...You bring your knees in tight...But it's the pelvic thrust...That really drives you insane...
December 13th, 2015: A blonde sits outside as snow falls on her softly. She doesn't notice you at all, too engrossed in a letter she had received. It was sent to her by a convict, held in a federal prison, proclaiming to be her real father. A tear slides down her cheek as she sets the letter down, shaking her head. She doesn't want to believe it, but her shock soon increases as she too begins to fall with you, adrift in time...Cecily Ashworth has fallen through time with you and will land with you in Coventry.
Let's do the Time Warp again! Let's do the Time Warp again!
November 23rd, 12,507: This time, you land in what appears to be the chambers of a Queen.
A dark haired woman delicately administers some sort of potion, muttering some ancient words under her breath. Yet no color returns to the Queen's face. "It is some sort of
poisyn," the dark haired woman admits, staring at
the princess with pity. "Your mother...she does not have much time left, Princess Valda. No
Magyk can stop this
darkenesse from consuming her. I can do some
physik to ensure she does not suffer but...That is all I can do. I am deeply sorry."
It's so dreamy...Oh, fantasy free me...So you can't see me...No, not at all...
March 3rd, 1718: A well dressed man trembles by yet another bedside. A gorgeous woman lies there, as still as death. Every so often there is a bit of movement as she coughs up blood, only bringing more pain to this man's expression. By the bag sitting next to him on the nightstand, it is clear that he is a doctor. In shiny letters, you can just make out the name
Alucard. A shudder goes through the man's body as the woman's chest no longer rises and falls, as he collapses to his knees, begging, screaming, pleading for anything to bring his wife back to him. He closes her eyes gently just before you begin to fall through time and space once more...
In another dimension...With voyeuristic intention...Well secluded, I see all...
January 8th, 2019: On this occasion, you don't so much fall down as you fall sideways. So many strange sights come directly into view. Plants growing spontaneously towards a window, a fearsome spider at least as big as a dog. Of course, the
silver haired man is there once more. While no one else can notice you, he looks directly at you and tilts his head, before glancing around to see if anyone else noticed. The others seem to be too busy fighting or bleeding, but the silver man winks at you. "You didn't see that coming?" he teases, laughing a bit, before returning to whatever task had been set for him.
With a bit of a mind flip...You're into the time slip...And nothing can ever be the same...
June 20th, 2016: This time, this time we're back in Altsoba. Inside a simple little house is a scene of carnage. It swims into view, the bloody death of a young boy's family. The demons lurking within, intent on congratulating him for a job well done--for beginning the end of the world. Only a righteous man could start the apocalypse, once he raised his fist and struck. But before
the young man can open the door and seal his fate, he too is whisked off with you all on this insane journey. Daniyal Lohi has fallen through time with you and will land with you in Coventry.
You're spaced out on sensation...Like you're under sedation...
April 16th, 2016: In the midst of a park, a few hours before dawn,
a young woman chops off a man's head with a machete. The head falls to the ground and she beams. It wasn't a man at all--it was a vampire. The last one in a vampire nest that had been preying on the innocent. Yet before she can dispose of the body, the woman's eyes widen with surprise. Gravity loses its grip on her as well, as she too begins to travel through space and time, another unwilling traveler. Katsumi Mitsukuri has fallen through time with you and will land with you in Coventry.
Let's do the Time Warp again! Let's do the Time Warp again!
September 1st, 2013: Two hunters,
a man and
a woman, stand in an abandoned shack in the midst of a forest. Tied to the chair is a teenage girl, her head fallen backwards. Her chair rests in the center of a sigil, one meant to contain demons. And despite the odds against it, she continues to breathe evenly, normally. The exorcism was successful and more importantly, the girl was saved. The woman grins at her partner, before he pulls her into a kiss. The kiss is fleeting, however, as the man's eyes widen with shock and terror. He is starting to slip away...Darren Andrews has fallen through time with you and will land with you in Coventry.
Well I was walking down the street...Just a having a think...When a snake of a guy gave me an evil wink...
July 4th, 2008: No one seems to be around in this time and place. Perhaps you are thankful for that--that is, until your eyes focus and you see the grizzly crime scene in front of you.
A man lays brutally mauled in front of what appears to be a town hall, words written on the wall in his own blood. It is nothing short of a threat, sending a bit of a chill down your spine. Perhaps it reminds you of the serial killer, Faust, and his antics here in Coventry? After all, he left threatening notes in blood. But of course, he's a demon...Demons can't be responsible for all human tragedy...Right? That would be too unlikely. Demons are terrible leaders. They are, however, excellent followers.
He shook-a me up, he took me by surprise...He had a pick up truck and the devil's eyes...
August 23rd, 1711: For most of you (hopefully) this place is unfamiliar and takes you a moment to identify. The sounds of moaning coming through the walls, the skimpily clad girls, the single men with disgusting figures...some combination of all of that should set off alarm bells. And by the lack of electricity, you might even be able to discern the date of the brothel you have found yourself in.
One of the girls stands staring out the window for a moment, before being pulled aside by the Madame. Only the Madame's fingers seem to slip through air, as the girl begins to fall as well...Millicent Clarke has fallen through time with you and will land with you in Coventry.
He stared at me and I felt a change...Time meant nothing, never would again!
May 30th, 1977: Pink Floyd's "Coming Back to Life" plays in the background for a brief moment as you appear in what looks to be a café. However, you don't stop falling for a moment. No, you keep on falling until you are falling through the Earth itself, falling through dimension after dimension until you finally pause for a moment. Despite not all of you having been here before, you will all instantly recognize it as Hell.
An angel stands outside of a cage, sighing slightly. "Hel appears to be fighting her bonds," the angel reports, using what some call Angel Radio. She then turns and stares at you with a frown, before she too is whisked off. Seraphina, Angel of the Lord, has fallen through time with you and will land with you in Coventry.
Let's do the Time Warp again! Let's do the Time Warp again!
May 17th, 2016: By this point, you are all incredibly nauseating. Falling through dimensions constantly isn't that easy on the mind or the body. But perhaps no one is more sick than Thalia. Her hallucination is likely one that will be with her for the rest of her life now. But no matter, this time you find yourself outside what appears to be...a small castle. No, not a castle...Ah, yes, it's a school.
A girl levitates a ball of flame in front of her, grinning at
her friend nearby. The scene melts away and you find yourself hurtling to the ground, landing harshly on the stage at the circus. Everyone is accounted for and everyone is alive. There is no telling if time is frozen or if it is moving. Just be thankful that you still draw breath, I suppose.
It's just a jump to the left...And then a step to the right...With your hands on your hips...
Aloise bit her lip slightly at the prospect of getting the Medical Examiner further involved. It would just put the woman in danger, encountering a demon like this. And besides, why would a demon even be at home? If anything, Aloise figured that he would be at the circus, ready to terrorize everyone currently there. Checking her watch, it was a quarter to seven. But she didn't have a good reason to give the M.E. as to why the man would be there.
"Does he live nearby?" Aloise asked, climbing into the car with Olivia a bit reluctantly.
Maybe checking out the house could prove to be helpful. It was plausible that perhaps the demon would have turned it into something of a lair, at least leaving behind evidence of its activities. And then, she could probably come up with some "evidence" there that would suggest "Gus" had gone to the circus. It would all work out...Aloise took a bit of a deep breath and grimaced.
"Thank you for your help," Aloise added. She didn't want to seem ungrateful.
Fortunately, Gus' home was only a few blocks away from the circus grounds. It was about the only stroke of luck she had had all day, as far as Aloise was concerned. Of course, she was entirely unaware of the fact that she was sitting next to a werewolf in the car. That might have raised some concerns with the young hunter. She didn't even know that her dead ex-boyfriend was in Coventry at that moment, quite alive.
You bring your knees in tight...But it's the pelvic thrust......That really drives you insane...
October climbed onto the back of the bike, wrapping her arms around Carolina in order not to fall off. Her blue dress wasn't appropriate for riding in the slightest, but her gothic boots were more than sturdy enough. The things looked like they were made out of lead, but October adored them. She never went anywhere without wearing those shoes. In fact, she continued to take them to a cobbler for repairs, in order to avoid having to switch up her style.
She giggled a bit as Liam ran up to them, shouting for them to get off of his bike.
"Hurry up, Carol!" October said, throwing a glance back towards the Prophet of the Lord. However, the smile slipped from her face as she saw what was going on.
"Look out!" October called out, but it was too late.
The brunette that had vanished from the station was directly behind Liam, a gun pressed to the back of his head. There was no dramatic monologue about past wrongs. There was no offer of pity. The woman was silent as she pulled the trigger, the Prophet of the Lord dropping to the ground. Pulling the phone from her pocket, she made yet another call. "Prophet is down. I repeat: Prophet has been crossed off," the woman said, before heading into a run and melting away into the shadows.
